Nollywood veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor has spoken on rumours that she has stopped putting on trousers after giving her life to Christ.
Speaking to Encomuim magazine, she is quoted as saying:
Yes, I don’t wear trousers again. No more weave on, no more make up. Naturally, I am not a make up person. You see me in make up when I am in the movie. That has been my nature. Even if I make up, I like it light, except it was made by somebody else for an occasion. Christ told me to put off certain things because they don’t please Him. I have to obey Him. I heard directly from Him, nobody told me that. Christ told me that wearing trousers brings out women’s sensitive features. When we wear trousers, we make men desire us and make them fall into sin. I put up a lot of argument about it before I could obey.

An Abia State Polytechnic student, identified only as Abel, has killed the landlord of one of the students’ lodges in the Immaculate area of Aba, Abia State.
Abel, a final year student of the Department of Architecture, allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach during a disagreement at the lodge, Punch Metro reports.
It was learnt that the landlord had ordered that no female visitor was allowed to spend the night in the lodge.
The suspect was alleged to have breached the rule and was challenged by the landlord, which led to a fight between them.
In the ensuing scuffle, the suspect was alleged to have grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach, before taking to his heels.
The landlord reportedly died on the spot. His remains were recovered by the police and deposited in a mortuary.
A student of the institution, who identified herself only as Beatrice, explained that the caretaker of the lodge was the first to notice the breach of the rule, adding that he informed the landlord.
She said the landlord barged into the room and met Abel and his girlfriend naked, which caused the fight.
She said, “The incident happened around 9pm on June 29. The deceased had made a rule that no student living in the lodge should bring a lady to pass the night there. He also made it a rule that every visitor, be it male or female, must leave before night falls.
“However, the suspect brought home a female guest in the evening and both of them went inside his room. The caretaker of the lodge saw them and waited for them to come out, but they didn’t. He then put a call through to the landlord, who hurriedly went to the building around 9pm.
“On arrival, the landlord barged into the student’s room where he met both the lady and the student naked. Instead of excusing himself, he attacked the student with punches. The lady quickly grabbed a wrapper and ran out of the room into another student’s room in the lodge.
“As the confrontation continued, the student stabbed the landlord with a knife, put on his boxers and fled that night, leaving the landlord dead in his room.”
It was learnt that the incident threw the community into confusion as the matter was reported at a police station in the area.
The police were said to have launched a manhunt for the suspect with his picture posted at strategic areas in the school.
When contacted, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Nta Ogbonnaya, confirmed the murder, but said he could not tell what transpired between the suspect and the deceased.
He said the case file had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigations, adding that the police would get the fugitive.
He said, “Yes, there is a case of murder involving a student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, who stabbed his landlord in the stomach. I cannot, however, tell what happened between them. I also don’t know the name of the landlord and the suspect. As I speak with you, the case file has been transferred to the SDCI and we are working with the school authorities to get the details of the suspect.
“I, however, want to advise him that he should submit himself to the police voluntarily. I assure that wherever he decides to go, we will get him and he will face justice.”

Controversial music artiste, Brymo, has become the rave of the moment on Twitter after he shared a questionable and displeasing tweet hours ago,
“Black man suffers at home, black man suffers abroad. Black man suffers everywhere, black man likes to suffer.” – was what Brymo which has caused a stir on Twitter right now!
Tweeps are describing his quote with its timing as illogical, considering the fact that he tweeted it in the aftermath of the loss of two lives of innocent black men in the US, in attacks carried out by Police Officers believed to be racist.
Brymo says black people need to sit up. Music by black artistes should stop being about swag and champagne and hoes.
“Blacks need to make it a point to preach value in all that we do, not everyday money money money. Black people feel helpless but we are not.. We are lazy and illogical!! On the grounds that we don’t solve our problems, we just play blame games… It’s in our homes and work place.”
However, Nigerians don’t give a hoot about his opinions as they’ve gone all ballistic on him with their tweets, some of them he responded to.

The debonair male singer who took to his IG page earlier, this morning to wish media personality, Toolz, a happy birthday, also shared this dapper looking image of himself and movie veteran, RMD.
The singer sounded excited as he captioned the photo:
As most people probably know, I’m currently on set filming a movie called “The Wedding Party”. In it, my Egbon @mofedamijo plays my Dad. Now, please pardon me, but this is SUCH a big deal to me… I grew up watching RMD on tv. He’s like my own personal Denzel Washington. And I can tell you this, he’s just as cool, if not cooler, in real life as he is on camera. I kid you not. Very much a legend and an icon of Nigerian Entertainment, Still at the very top of his game decades later, every bit the consummate professional and somehow he remains the nicest guy. I’ve only ever been star struck twice in Africa : the day I met JayJay Okocha, and the day I met RMD.
So it’s even a bigger deal to me to actually get to work with him in this capacity… and it been amazing.
Happy birthday Dad. Thank you for the doors you’ve opened, for leading by example, for being true to yourself and to your craft, for being who you are, and for generally just being awesome. It’s been a pleasure meeting and working with you. God bless and I wish you much more success.
PS: shameless plug: the wedding party comes out in December. This is one film you DON’T wanna miss. Trust me. #BirthdayLove #TheBankStatements

The above image is a newspaper cut-out reportedly gotten from Daily Times way back in 1970.
It shows veteran actress Bukky Ajayi back then, when she granted an interview to debunk rumours about her dying. Precisely 46 years later, she died aged 82-year-old, at her home in Surulere, yesterday 6th July 2016.

Nollywood actor, Femi Branch moments ago, shared an emotional video on his Instagram page after he learnt of the demise of veteran actress, Bukky Ajayi.
In the short video he shared, the actor said that after he heard she had died, he took out his phone to call her only to find out that he didn’t have her number on his phone.
As shown in the video, he felt so ashamed. He then asked his fellow Nollywood colleagues to try to reach out to each other more often.
He is quoted as saying:
“I just found out that Aunty has passed on and I picked up my phone immediately to call her and I couldn’t find her number and I felt so ashamed and this is what happens to us a whole lot of times especially in this profession.
When work brings us together, we dance, we rejoice, we celebrate, we play. If you see us at that moment you would think we reach out to each other everyday and we relate so well but once we have left that location, that is it. We hardly relate with each other only to find out things about ourselves on the passages of newspapers, blogs.. We need to reach out more”he said

Below is how the grieving son narrated the story on Instagram:
“Mr francis Ebonyi Ogbole was travelling to Benue State for the burial of his junior sister, on his way to the Iddo park, Oyingbo, Lagos State, escorted by his children which makes four people in the car, they were stopped by stop-and-search policemen with metro police van registration number KSF-176 EE
“The policeman requested for all the necessary papers which he presented, then he was entering his car then a policeman, Sergeant Matthew Oche with force number F/NO-372727, said no he cant leave now cause the back glass of his car is tinted.
“Mr. Francis however told him that its was because its still early and dark, around 5:30a.m, that the glass is not tinted, but the policeman was looking for a way to extort money from him. Out of anger, the policeman pushed him and he fell, broke his head and died instantly.”
What a sad story, may his soul RIP.

Following the killings of two black men by two American police in the past two days, Nigerian female singing sensation singer Emma Nyra has come out to say she feels safer here in the country than abroad.
The singer who, according to her, was born and raised in the US but moved back to Nigeria in 2012, shared tweets that she feels safer here.
Her tweets below:

Eniola badmus was at the other end of Kemi Olunloyo’s straw when she apparently, “Downgraded Kemi’s name and brand in front of Etisalat on their new promo”…This is course of according to Kemi’s Claim.
Obviously, Eniola tweeted at about 1pm today saying “Aunty Kemi spread luv not hate” and consequently, Aunty Kemi tweeted saying “@BadmusEniola Spread MUSCLE NOT FAT! Happy #Ramadan”
However, Aunty Kemi proceeded to her Instagram wall to spread this misunderstanding and one of her follower pleaded on Eniola’s behalf that Aunty should let go and put her mistakes behind her.
Reasonably, Aunty Kemi concludes that Eniola has tarnished her image in the sight of Etisalat and that they might not grant her any sponsorship or any of it kind in the future.

Veteran Actress, Bukky Ajayi passed away at the age of 82 at her residence in Lagos yesterday and she has been buried according to Islamic rites.
Actor Richard Mofe Damijo paid an emotional tribute to the late veteran, apologizing for delaying his plan to visit her. He wrote:
“Aunty Bukks, I am sorry. Sorry I did NOT visit you in your last days, not because I didn’t want to but because I took for granted the gift of life and procrastinated. To think that I spoke to Abounce kunle your son (whom I share the TV series Hush with where he is such a star now as Ruffy Jackson. Taking after you) several days ago to ask for the best time to come see you…if I knew it was time I would have come that very day to see you but who would have thought that the bold, strong Aunty Bukks who has consistently defied every circumstance and risen above every situation will go to sleep so soon.
It is my birthday today and as I sit here writing you, I can only think how ironic it is that you have completed the circle of life.
I am deeply pained by your passing but I am extremely proud that you are a part of my life and I yours.
I love you very much Aunty Bukks and will NEVER trade the memories of you for anything.
Sleep well in Gods bosom.”

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole while entertaining some Muslims in the state during the Eid Mubarak Ceremony yesterday, July 6th said that God loves Nigeria so much he had to make Buhari President at this time in Nigeria’s history.
“We have to thank Allah for making it possible for Buhari to emerge. God so loves Nigeria that he brought Buhari at this time. If Buhari had not come, we will not know why the Nigeria government failed to tackle Boko Haram. They are now confessing like witches” he said
According to Oshiomole, the vengeance of God has fallen on PDP and he said it can be seen in the confusion that has trailed the leadership of the party in recent times.

Over the weekend, Social media was awash with stories of a secret registry wedding between Afropop star Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, AKA D Banj, also popular as Kokomaster and 24 year Old DiDi Kilglow who is half American, half Nigerian and South African..
However, The music star camp has debunked the news of his wedding to an half caste lover as a mere figments of the peddlers’ imaginations.
The Kokomaster, speaking through his manager, Frank, in a telephone chat on Monday, said there was no marriage at all not to talk of a secret wedding. See the official statement after the cut:
“D’Banj didn’t do any secret wedding. He had a private event meant for only few family and friends and how that turned to a marriage ceremony is what I don’t know. Some people obviously didn’t understand simple English and we would not dignify them with response on suchfalse tale,” D’Banj’s manager said.
The purported secret marriage had D’Banj’s father, Col. Oyebanjo Rtd.; and 25 other guests in attendance.
Meanwhile, read a previous interview D’banj granted to Punch newspaper on APRIL 23, 2016 about marriage:
“Who said I am not married? I would tell you the truth, I am not married but if I am, nobody would hear about it. It is going to be a very quiet wedding because I am tired of people asking me that question. It is my personal life and it is not going to change my music or brand. I am not going to get married just because people want me to, neither would I do it just to enter another phase of my life just like some of my colleagues have done. They make it seem as if once you are married you have retired. But that should not be the case. Marriage would not change anything about me and whenever it happens, nobody would hear about it, there would only be speculations. My wife would not be seeking for fame because the one I have is already enough for all my family members. When I get married, it would be a very quiet one. Who knows, it might have already happened.”

A 12 year old houseboy, identified simply as Peter, has been blinded by his ‘madam’ at the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that residents, who could no longer stand the violence meted out on the boy by his ‘madam,’ decided to raise the alarm. The latest cruelty meted out on Peter, leading to injuring in his eyes, was said to be over improper washing of kettle.
The yet to be identified woman resides at No. 14 b, Olu Akerele Street, Balogun Bus Stop off Awolowo Way, Ikeja. According to neighbours, how Peter, a Togolese, was employed by the woman was not clear.
What is clear, however, is that Peter was always being subjected to constant beating. A resident, who gave her name simply as Tayo, said: “We feared the unexpected with the manner the woman used to beat the boy. He has a deep sore on his leg. When I asked him about it, he said it was from burnt from fire. He said the swollen eye was caused by beating from his madam for not washing a kettle properly.“ He has been subjected to violence for a long time. You know everybody used to mind his or her business in the compound.
When I saw the boy last, he was looking sickly. Hence I decided to seek help from the appropriate agency.” Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, said the woman was well known for being violent. He said everyone on the street used to keep the woman at arm’s length . He added: “If the boy comes to watch television with them in the parlor, he would be beaten.
On school days, you will see the boy leaving home around 9.30a.m . This is an ideal case of child abuse and child labour. We need the intervention of child protection network in his case.”
When our correspondent visited the compound to seek the woman’s response, the gate was not opened after repeated knocking. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmos, was yet to respond to a text message sent to her mobile line on the issue at press time.
