A Nigerian man, Fahd Houssawi, has been executed in Saudi Arabia after being found guilty of murdering a police officer.
This brings the number of executions in the ultra-conservative Islamic kingdom to 95 for the year, drawing condemnations from human rights groups the world over, Guardian reports.
According to a statement by the country’s interior ministry, Houssawi was executed on Sunday in the western city of Taif after he’d been found guilty of strangling a policeman and beating him to death.
Crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy carry the death sentence in the oil-rich kingdom, leading Amnesty International to warn that at the current rate Saudi Arabia could see more than 100 executions in the first half of 2016.
The kingdom reportedly carried out approximately 158 death sentences last year, making it the third most prolific executioner after Iran and Pakistan, and more worrying is the fact that the executions this year are higher than at the same point last year.
The commonest offences leading to executions are murder and drug trafficking cases, although sectional battles led to the murder of 47 people on a single day in January under the blanket charge of “terrorism offences”.
It is yet unknown what impact the execution will have on diplomatic relations between the two countries, as Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari in March announced that the country has joined the Saudi-led Islamic Coalition Against Terror.
So, yesterday, Tolu Toolz Oniru and Her Hubby, Captain Tunde Demuren tied the knot in an Explosive White Wedding in Dubai.
…But one thing was missing! The Mother of all Slay! – Toke Makinwa.
See how fans tried to piece together the reason why Toke would miss 2016 biggest owambe yet.
1. Some said she was possibly unable to cough out money for the occasion due to exchange rate:
2. Another one said she should better ‘slay’ in house, because Amebos already agree she turns heads at every occasion, stealing attention from the celebrant..na wa!
3. But she had fans who rose to her defense: she had another wedding to attend that’s why;
4. But that explanation only muddled things up; fans who saw Makinwa’s photos from the other wedding agreed Toolz did a good thing by uninviting the OAP:
So, we walked down to Toke’s Snapchat and Hell Yeah, she was ready to kill it.!
Just check out the makeup:
The shoes and bags:
The complete attire:
And we begin to agree with the haters only on one point: Toke Makinwa CAN SLAY FOR AFRICA!
She has explained why she wasn’t present at Toolz’ wedding:
A Chinese detergent maker has apologized but blamed foreign media for whipping up controversy over an ad in which a black man “washed” by its product was transformed into an Asian man.
Shanghai Leishang Cosmetics apologised and said it strongly condemned racial discrimination but it pointed the finger at news reports for overblowing the ad, which first appeared on Chinese social media in March.
The company pulled it, though, after the clip went viral this week and drew both outrage and scores of media reports outside the country.
“We express regret that the ad should have caused a controversy,” the statement issued late on Saturday said. “But we will not shun responsibility for controversial content.”
“We express our apology for the harm caused to the African people because of the spread of the ad and the over-amplification by the media,” the company said.
“We sincerely hope the public and the media will not over-read it.” The ad for Qiaobi laundry detergent drops shows a black man entering a room and attempting to flirt with an Asian woman.
He is carrying a tin of paint, wears soiled clothes and has paint on his face. She then feeds him a detergent drop and stuffs his body into a top-loading washer.
When the cycle completes, a fair-skinned Asian man in a clean white T-shirt emerges to the delight of the woman.
When speaking to the Chinese nationalist newspaper The Global Times, a company representative named as Mr Wang, said the critics were “too sensitive,” and the issue of racial discrimination never came up during the production of the video.
The ad’s content rekindled discussions about discrimination in China, where many say prejudices against blacks are likely to be dismissed.
The presidency has released a list detailing all the achievements of President Buhari in the last one year. He marks one year in office tomorrow May 29th.
The list as published by the News Agency of Nigeria contains the following:
SECURITY:
The relocation of the Nigerian Military Command Centre to Maiduguri, since May 2015, contributed to the success in the fight against insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country.

Nigeria has provided $21million USD to the Task Force since June 2015 and is committed to an additional $79 million USD, bringing the total of Nigeria’s commitment to the Task Force to 100 million USD.
Cohesive international support in the fight against terrorism and assistance to victims and communities affected by terrorism, following President Buhari’s meeting with G7 leaders and other world powers.
In May 2016, Nigeria hosted a Regional Security Summit to boost military operations against Boko Haram and forge a global support for the rehabilitation of the IDPs and rebuilding of the North East.

The Israeli government has also indicated interest in the fight against insurgency.
Introduction of the motor cycle battalion (This is so that the Nigerian Army can travel to remote areas that were not accessible to cars/trucks)
Realigned our partnership with regional allies by embarking on foreign visits which resulted in bilateral and multilateral agreements to tackle insecurity back home.
No more roadblocks and curfews, which normally impeded free flow of movement.
Continuous monitoring of activities in the region of war through the use of satellite images and geographical information system is helping in fighting insurgency and strategizing against the enemy.
The trips to our neighbouring countries showed the resolve of the President to push Boko Haram elements out of existence by going for the jugular of the group, cutting their arms, food supply routes. Support has thus been mobilized through the Multinational Joint Task Force.
Another major stride is the Trans National Organized Crime (TNOC) where the president got partnership with regional allies in the fight against the proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
As part of the reconfigured military partnership, the United States donated 24 mine-resistant armoured vehicles (MRAP) which had protected the Nigerian troops from the menace of Improvised Explosive Devices. Today we have less causalities.
Reached out to the G7 countries and achieved the following: intelligence sharing; technical military training; arms deals/donations

Joint operations involving various security outfits in curbing the menace of the herdsmen in the country has been set up.
The use of surveys and updated mappings across the country as strategies for preventing threats among ethnic groups in Nigeria.
CORRUPTION
Right from the moment he won the Presidential Election in 2015, the impression of the President as a ‘‘no nonsense and incorruptible leader’’ sent a signal to looters of public funds, with many of them returning funds that had been stolen under the previous administration.
To create a frame work for prosecuting the war against corruption and institutionalize probity, President Buhari set up an Advisory Committee on War Against Corruption.
The anti-corruption battle is gaining ground with several high profile cases already in the courts. The administration is being guided by the rule of law in the prosecution of corruption cases.
President Buhari enlisted the support of multilateral institutions like the World Bank and IMF, security agencies, Western countries and other friendly nations to locate and repatriate stolen assets.
At a London summit on anti-corruption, President Buhari announced that Nigeria will begin the full implementation of the principles of the OPEN contracting data standards.
In the first quarter of 2016, President Buhari embarked on trips to the Middle East to sensitize the governments on the need to repatriate stolen assets and hand over the looters for trial in Nigeria. In January, Nigeria and UAE signed Judicial Agreements on Extradition, Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters.
In March 2016, the Federal Government and the Swiss Government signed a Letter of Intent On the Restitution of Illegally-Acquired Assets forfeited in Switzerland. Under the agreement, Switzerland will repatriate $ 321 million USD illicitly acquired by the Gen. Sani Abacha family.

To further instill fiscal discipline, President Buhari directed the closure of all multiple accounts in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, thereby plugging loopholes for leakages with new technology.
The opaque accounting structure of the NNPC has been reconstructed to be more transparent with the closure of more than 40 accounts. As a corporate entity, NNPC is now accountable and more transparent in operations, publishing its monthly financial reports.
The President also resolved the lingering shadowy oil swap deals that had cost the country billions of dollars and left it at the mercy of a few rich Nigerians.
To alleviate the suffering of Nigerians in September 2015, President Buhari directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to disburse N689.5 billion as bailout to 27 states of the federation to pay salaries.
To stimulate the economy and reduce poverty, in April, 2016, President Buhari approved deferment in the payment of the bailout as states were still reeling under the burden of the fall in commodity prices.
Records of more than 34,000 ghost workers draining the nation’s resources were expunged from the Federal Civil Service, saving N2.29 billion monthly.
In 2015, President Buhari ruled out the appointment of a government delegation for pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. By this decision, the government saved about one million U.S dollars and N30m of local expenses
Enforcement of the Bank Verification Number: Also the BVN has ensured that the menace of “ghost workers” are being identified and dealt with, while looters with multiple accounts can no longer hide their loot undetected.

President Buhari strongly supported the emergence of a Nigerian, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, as President of the Africa Development Bank. (NAN)
It was a real war of words between Nollywood actress, Caroline Danjuma and a fan on Instagram who used lewd and insulting words on her.
The wife of billionaire Musa Danjuma brought it all out against the fan and gave the fan a bitter taste of her bad side.
The war is still going on but it has been hijacked by her fans who are now lambasting the individual who insulted the actress.
The fight started when ‘beautifulpeepsonig’ insulted her by calling her husband a dog. At first, it would have passed off as another hot-air. But, what came afterwards from Caroline was unexpected. She replied:
That was so unbelievable coming from the actress. She literally went mad and gave the fan something to remember. For sure, that fan will forever mind how to relate with her in public.

Some South African subscribers of the popular DSTV have reacted angrily to the network’s removal of the transgender show, I Am Cait.
Multichoice Nigeria has pulled down the popular transgender-themed reality TV series, ‘I am Cait’ which centres around Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender woman formerly know as Bruce Jenner, from Nigerian television due to complaints from viewers across the country.
South Africa’s Channel 24 entertainment site reports that the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) allegedly ordered that the show be pulled, effectively censoring it for African viewers, and this is making some South Africans annoyed.
The angry viewers took to instagram to express their grievances and blame the Nigerian Broadcast Commission for the removal of the TV show.
This is the second time a transgender themed show had to be cancelled in the country. A reality docu-series following a transgender teenager ‘I am Jazz’ was also cancelled last year.
As we all know that most Nigerian ladies are so obsessed with taking pictures just to flaunt their styles on social media.
By the reason of this obsession, some take pictures in any environment they find themselves not minding how awkward these pictures look.
Here are the awkward places many Nigerian ladies snap pictures and upload them for the world to see;
1. Toilet
Some ladies don’t even mind the odour emanating from the toilet just to show how classy they are. In fact, some of them will even take a selfie while defecating.
This is aimed at craving attention from guys. This silly act is very common with Lagos babes.

The Kardashians are said to have reportedly gone hard on a plastic surgeon who has been offering his patients what he has dubbed the ‘Kardashian Facelift’.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the Kardashians have had their attorney hound Dr. Gary Eldridge and demand that he quit using their name to promote his fibrin protein treatment.
In an attempt to fight his corner, the Australian doctor has filed documents to trademark the procedure in the U.S.
It’s alleged the surgeon has insisted that the treatment is not at all connected with the famous family and is actually the name of his family dog.
The Kardashian’s lawyer reportedly refused to accept the doctor’s claim and informed him in a very affirmative letter that the family already holds countless trademarks on its name, in all matter of fields, from beauty to advertisements, which Dr. Eldridge is infringing upon.
It’s believed the surgeon has since dropped his trademark application and has removed the Kardashian name from his procedure, instead calling it simply a ‘Fibrin Facelift’.
Lots of sites carried the story. Now, she decided to call out a popular media site for using a picture of her little co-star as her daughter..
She wrote on IG:
Such a sad and disgraceful thing hat some media houses who claim to be reputable will actually use pictures without confirming anything.
I feel sorry for those who carry this fake picture around and call it my daughter. THE NEWS NIGERIA, is it not sad that you would still believe that the girl in this picture is my daughter? For those truth seekers out there, this is not my daughter.
She played the role of my daughter in an upcoming series called MIXED MATCH. Watch my YouTube Video STELLA DAMASUS DIARIES and you will see that I addressed this issue almost three years ago. This girl is obviously MIXED RACE.
Can they please tell me where the white husband is hiding? Be careful what you read, see and believe. #media #lies,
Nigerian/US rapper, Wale has opened up on Nigerian music with his particular focus on Wizkid. A recent interview he granted Factory 78, he said he tried to get Wizkid on Roc Nation way before he became the global brand he is now.
He also said he feels Drake copied Wizkid‘s style on his first number one track, One Dance.
Wizkid is credited as a co-producer on the track so it could mean he wrote part of the lyrics. He said:
I would like to hear more of Wizkid. I would like to hear more of Wizkid on one dance. I could hear more control. It sounds like Wizkid’s song. He sounded like Wizkid on that song. The lyrics, the style everything. I mean he is a phenomenal writer but I just feel like he sounds like Wizkid on that song..
On Nigerian music, he said:
I’m proud of Davido and Wizkid and Olamide. There is alot of dope artists coming out right now. I knew it was gonna get there. I mean, Nigeria got like a whole 60 % of the swag in Africa. I always knew. I remember bringing the idea of signing Wizkid to Roc nation to the guys out there. Like early on. It was way before this time. I knew it was gon get there. I got like 7 songs on the internet with him. If I had held on to him back then, it would have been a different story.
Head of States, President Muhammdu Buhari has revealed his greatest shock since assuming power on May 29, 2015.
He said he could not believe when he was informed that Nigeria had over the years squandered all its precious foreign exchange on the importation of food items and other frivolous items, including tooth picks.
Speaking with editors and newspaper executives in an interview in Abuja to mark the administration’s first year in office, Buhari said last year, when oil prices fell to $40 per barrel, he summoned Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] Godwin Emefiele and asked to see what it was that Nigerians were buying with foreign exchange.
He said:
“Up to 2013, we were earning on average over $100 per barrel from oil but by fabulous coincidence, it went down to about $30 per barrel when we came in. There was no money to import food. For me, it was the biggest shock.
“Nigeria became an oil economy and we left agriculture and solid minerals and everyone went to the city to look for oil money.”
On his opposition with regards to naira devaluation, he said when he was military Head of State in 1984-85, World Bank and International Monetary Fund [IMF] experts advised him to devalue the naira and remove subsidy on petrol and flour.
He said even though they pressed him hard, he did neither of the two. He said this was because countries that benefitted from currency devaluation were developed countries that produced more products after devaluation and were able to export more because their goods became more competitive.
Buhari further recalled:
“When I was removed [as military Head of State] in 1985, the dollar was one naira fifty kobo. Now naira is 350 to the dollar. Tell me the benefits we derived from that? How many factories were built in those years? Economists are not able to explain this to me. I am still waiting for economists to tell me why we should continue to devalue the naira. However, I don’t rule the country alone, so we must accommodate the economists.”
Buhari disclosed that he believes in privatisation of state owned firms, as “It is much more efficient.” He recalled that as Federal Commissioner for Petroleum Resources in General Obasanjo’s military regime in the 1970s, he signed contracts to build Warri and Kaduna refineries and to expand Port Harcourt refinery as well as build the depots and pipelines.
He said:
“Should we sell them as scrap? We cannot spend so much of our national resources to develop infrastructure and then sell them a scrap. We must first take into consideration our state of development. We must repair them first so we can negotiate with the buyers from a position of strength.”
While we’re not sure which telecommunication company “Eja nla” is referring to, we don know for sure that the Koko Master has only been a Globacom ambassador till his contract with them expired.
We know too that he hasn’t signed a contract with any other telecom company. He says he going to take action on the company soon though.
After they put the initial filing on hold, Khloe Kardashian has once again filed for divorce from the former NBA player in a Los Angeles court on Thursday citing irreconcilable differences.
After getting married in 2009, she first filed for divorce from Lamar in December 2013.
The split was never finalized, however, and Kardashian withdrew the petition to divorce after Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel last year, and stayed by his side during his long medical recovery.
According to TMZ,there is a prenup and the two worked out a property settlement the first time around, so now it’s just a waiting game.
In California, a divorce cannot become final until 6 months after it’s filed. Khloe and Lamar are on good terms and he was given a heads-up she was filing. In the docs, Khloe does say she wants to legally drop the Odom name and go back to her maiden handle.
Foreign rappers, Big Sean and Jhene Aiko are doing absolutely nothing to curb their current romance rumours. It’s being alleged that Jhene dumped her Nigerian husband and music producer, Oladipo Omishore, known as Dot da Genius whom she married last year .
Jhene and Big Sean formed a group called twenty 88 and released a joint album together.
She just had to share how deep her feelings are for her family in spite of the fact that she’s not one with doing so.
The Queen Bey took to her IG last night to share this lovely photo of her relations, her dad and mom and sister, Solange, declaring her deep love for them.
Sharing the video, she gave it the caption:
My beautiful Father, Sis, and Mother. I love you guys so deep.
The parents of two abducted sisters – Chikamso Okpara aged two, and four-year-old Chinaza Okpara – say they have not heard any positive news from the police about the kids’ whereabouts since their abduction on May 14, 2016.
They said they had explored all avenues to trace the abductor, identified only as Rose, to no avail and urged the police to ensure that their children were rescued safely.
Rose reportedly fled with the children around 12pm penultimate Saturday shortly after their mother, Ijeoma Okpara, left the shop to buy foodstuffs at a market – a few metres away from the shop on Cemetery Street, in the Ajegunle area of the state.
The incident happened four days after Rose enrolled as an apprentice hairdresser.
Ijeoma, a stylist, had left the children in the care of Rose and a resident, Franca, only to return 15 minutes later and discover that Rose had fled with the kids.
Her husband, Emeka Okpara, told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that except the assurance he received from his pastor that the kids were safe, the police had yet to give the family any positive development after the incident was reported at the Ajeromi Police Division.
He said:
“We have searched for them. We have made reports and people have helped us to circulate their pictures on the social media. We have been told by men of God that the children are safe and are being kept within the state by the apprentice. We pray every day for their protection and safe return.
“I spoke with the policeman investigating the case. He said no progress yet and that I should be prayerful. I don’t know the mode of their operation, but they should make more efforts to rescue them. Those are the only children we have. I am very disturbed and it has been difficult handling my emotion and that of my wife. Nobody has contacted us for ransom so far.”
The distraught wife, Ijeoma, said she was surprised that the apprentice could abduct her children.
She said:
“The shop is in front of our house and is owned by a woman. I only work there to assist the owner. On Tuesday, May 10, Rose came and said she wanted to learn hairdressing. I told her to come back as the owner of the shop that will decide on her acceptance was not around. She begged me to allow her start immediately, saying she was idle at home. I eventually accepted after much pleading.
“The customer I was making hair for on that Saturday said she wanted to pick something at home, so I had to take a break. I decided to quickly go to the market to buy foodstuffs. The market is near the shop and I didn’t spend more than 15 minutes before I returned.
“On getting to the shop, Franca said Rose went with my children to buy something immediately I left. I became apprensive when she did not return early and that was how we began to search for her and the kids. We went to Turner Street which she gave as her address, but we could not find her.”
The Lagos State Police Command, however, said it was on the trail of the apprentice and promised to get her arrested.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos said, “The police are on the trail of the abductor. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the children and apprehend the culprit.”
Baby mama of foreign pop singer, Chris Brown, Nia Guzman, is setting the record straight for the very first time, on her own terms.
In an exclusive interview with Latina.com, she opens up about the struggle to co-parent under the unforgiving media lens
On keeping Royalty a secret, she said:
Well, the world didn’t find out about her until a year ago. He always knew about her, he just wasn’t ready to deal with the situation. But, it’s been quite the experience. I can’t say anything positive about it… at all. Nothing positive.I knew what the outcome was going to be once it came out. I was very fearful for… everything that’s going on now. I know that he’s young, he’s wild, and he has the bad boy persona, and I just knew that it just wasn’t going to be the best situation. And if I could have still kept it quiet until now, I would have.
On trying to limit Chris Brown’s time with Royalty.
No. That’s the false story. I didn’t go back to court to limit his time, at all. That’s never what I wanted. What’s wanted to limit his time or take any of his time from him. I totally want him to be hands on with her, and be a father, and try and get it more focused, and leave all the other bullsh-t that he has going on, alone. “I just want to have Royalty in a safer home. I would want it to be not leave to dad, not be in a mansion, and huge playrooms and backyards and TV rooms, and then she comes home with me and you know, she’s in a small apartment. I just want to keep her balanced. He feels like she should have everything when she’s with him, and limited when she’s with me. I don’t think that is okay, at all.”
On feeling Chris is too young and irresponsible to watch her alone
It’s pretty common sense. He knows. He knows he cannot do it on his own. he’s only two, and she’s a lot of work. I just wanted a nanny in place when she was with him, and it be agreed upon. It’s not like I was just going to throw anybody in there, it was something that we would agree, and this was what it was going to be, and then we go forth.
On Chris’s reason for not wanting a nanny
I don’t really know what the issue is with that. I could throw around all kinds of speculations, I could totally bash the situation. I’m not going to do that. I won’t do that. Everything that’s put out there, I don’t even have to explain it.
