Temilade Kosoko, the last child of veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko, has shared the negative impact her father has had on her acting career.

The budding actress, who recently graduated from the University of Lagos, Akoka, with a B.A degree in Creative Arts, shared her frustration during a recent interview with Legit NG.

She stated that being a veteran’s daughter has had several adverse effects on her career. She revealed that though it has its upside because it’s easier to network with people, the disadvantages outweighs the benefits.

Speaking further, she said she dislikes it when people attribute her success to being her father’s daughter because he has never introduced her to anyone in the industry.

Temilade added that people often give her an attitude when they discover that she is Jide Kosoko’s daughter, because they assume she is snobbish and proud.

β€œFirst of all, I am glad to finally finish school after six years, even though it was supposed to be four years. And life after school has been almost the same because in truth I am just coming out of it, I can’t really say much about what is going to be right now. But It is not like I have not been in the industry before, the major difference now is just that I would have more time for my career.

It is a long story; I wish I could speak more about this privately. Being Jide Kosoko’s daughter has had negative and positive side effects on me and my career. On the good side, I have been able to network better, although most of the people I know, I got to know them myself and not through my father.”

β€œMy dad barely introduces me to anybody. I don’t really like it when people attach me or my success to my dad.”

β€œI tell people that being the daughter of a celebrity has done more harm than good to me. First of all, It usually makes people have an impression about you that’s totally wrong.

β€œMany people see you, and they automatically think you’re proud, so before you can even prove to them that you’re not they are already giving you attitude. There are so many places that I work into and once they know that I’m Jide Kosoko’s daughter they all just start giving me attitude.”

On the expectations that comes with having a veteran as her father, Temilade said,

β€œWhen it comes to being featured or starred in movies, they almost always expect you to do more. Even if you’re doing it perfectly and you get the role, you will hear people say things like, ehn she got it because she’s the daughter of this and that. This is not true because I have actually put in the effort to get the role. Though to be honest the name accords me a lot of respect.”

Mother drags son to court for stealing family properties

A 30-year-old man, Tum Joseph, has been accused of stealing certain domestic and home articles from his mother and was charged before an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Three counts of criminal intimidation, causing a disturbance of the peace, and stealing were brought against Joseph when he appeared before the presiding judge, George Gwani, on Tuesday.

Bridget, the defendant’s mother, who resides in Ungwan Fari, Kafanchan, reported the incident to the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on July 7, as stated by the prosecution’s attorney, Esther Bishen, who testified in court.

According to Bishen, the complainant was taking care of her hospitalized husband when she learned that her son had taken certain belongings out of the house.

One mattress, two canisters of herbicide chemicals, ten yards of wrapping paper, and some of her husband’s clothing were among the things she identified as having been taken. During an inquiry, the defendant’s mattress was located.

The defendant also disparages and calls his mother names, the prosecution continued. According to her, the offense violates the terms of sections 378, 76, and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law. However, Joseph entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

In order to allow the police to summon witnesses to support its case, the prosecution asked the court for an adjournment.

Justice Gwani, who delivered the verdict, gave the defendant bail in the amount of N20,000 and a surety in the same amount, who had to be his uncle. He put the proceedings on hold until September.

A Nigerian man has reportedly gifted his son a hummer jeep and N500,000 as a reward for emerging best graduating student of Madonna University.

The recent graduate, known by his TikTok handle @cee_jay__2, posted a video showing his father surprising him with these extravagant gifts for graduating with a first-class degree and being the top student in his school.

In the viral video, the father is seen driving the jeep to their home to surprise his son. He also instructed his wife and other child to blindfold the graduate and lead him outside the house.

When the blindfold was removed, the son was overwhelmed with joy at the sight of the vehicle and started jumping up and down in excitement.

As if that was not enough, the father handed his son a cheque of N500,000 to celebrate his outstanding performance in school. His mother also gave him bundles of N1,000 notes to celebrate his achievement.

The video has triggered a wave of congratulatory messages on social media, even though the young man claims the whole thing was staged.

A Nigerian man, identified simply as Neo, has stated that a woman must cook for her husband no matter the time, even if it’s midnight.

Neo stated this in response to a Twitter user who asked if it’s appropriate for a man to demand pounded yam and egusi soup after returning home at 1am.

According to Neo, it’s acceptable because marriage is commitment and couples are entitled to make demands that will discomfort each other.

Citing an example, the man asserted that men readily come to their wives’ rescue when their car breaks down on the road regardless of the location and time, so women shouldn’t make excuses not to cook for their husbands.

He tweeted,

β€œShe MUST cook it for him. If the same wife can have her car break down anywhere, she abandons the car there then calls her husband to come pick it up and fix it, and he does exactly that, the man is also entitled to make demands that will discomfort her. Marriage is COMMITMENT,” he wrote.

Sensational Nigerian singer, Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, has shared how her eyesight got worse after having a baby three years ago.

It will be recalled that the ‘Duduke’ crooner and her singer husband, Adekunle Gold, welcomed their first child, Adejare, in May 2020.

In a recent video posted on social media, Simi revealed that her eyesight has not been the same since she got pregnant and gave birth to her daughter.

She said she used to have perfect vision before having her daughter, but her eyesight started getting worse afterward.

About three months ago, it got worse and she began to see double. She said she had to do an eye scan to unravel the cause of her sudden poor eyesight.

This guy of mine, has told me that he can never return to Nigeria. He said he doesn’t know how to tell his wife to move on with her life, but he would still keep sending monies for her and the children.

He said he is aware he won’t return but in future, he would make way for his children to meet him up over there. Funnily, he said that, if his wife got married and wants to come abroad with his children, he can create a way for her and her new husband but not now. Like 10 to 15 years later.

WΓΈmΔ™n should be aware that some of these men who travelled out of Nigeria, are still always been helped there by some other women citizens in those countries. They should try to have genuine discussions with their husbands so that, they do not wait into regrets.

It will be recalled that the comedian faced a huge tragedy last Sunday, August 6, as his mansion was engulfed with fire, resulting in the loss of valuable belongings worth millions of naira. However, the cause of the fire has not been made public.

A concerned Nigerian shared a post on Twitter, alerting everyone that Whitemoney’s Instagram account, had been compromised in the middle of the night.

She said that the hacker, a white boy, had started posting his own photos on the account and made it private.

Self-acclaimed relationship expert, Okoro Blessing, also known as Blessing CEO has encouraged women to avoid opposing their husbands’ side chic since it is foolish to do so.

The relationship therapist Blessing CEO recently made some comments on Arise TV that have received backlash online.

Blessing opinedΒ that entering her husband’s personal space and attacking his lover or side chic is the most unwise thing a woman could ever do.

She continued by saying that she usually tells women seeking counseling at her relationship lounge that they have no influence over their husband’s choices or desire for infidelity.

A middle-aged American lady who is a fan of pop star Beyonce has shocked netizens after she quit her job to attend the Grammy Award winner’s concert.

She had requested Paid Time Off (PTO) at her place of employment in order to attend the concert, but her employer rejected her request.

She quit and rushed to the performance venue with a poster reading, “I did not allow my office to break my soul,” a statement taken from Beyonce’s song, feeling the need to demonstrate her support for Beyonce.

A video that surfaced online and stirred mixed reactions shows the African-American woman walking on the field while showing off her cardboard, which read; β€œPTO DENIED SO I QUIT. YOU WON’T BREAK MY SOUL”

Frodd’s wife has taken delivery of his car after he scolded his mechanic while speaking with Big Brother in the house during his dairy session.

Recall that Frodd stirred reactions on social media after making a threat against his mechanic for having possession of his automobile.

Frodd gave out this warning in his diary session with Big Brother, when he was allowed to talk about whatever else was on his mind for the remainder of the session.

He used the opportunity to tell his wife how much he loved her and how grateful he was that she had allowed him to be on the show.

Apparently, the mechanic got the message and made sure he fixed the car as fast as he could.

The official handler of Frodd’s Twitter page posted a video of the mechanic driving the car to his house to deliver it to his wife.

A while back, Pretty Mike sparked outrage online after he revealed that he spends at least N2 million on stunts.

A young woman has sought the advice of netizens after her husband filed for a divorce over her disrespectful action towards his mother.

The lady explained that her mother-in-law came to provide traditional postpartum care and support for her and her newborn, which is popularly called ‘omugwo‘ in Nigeria.

She disclosed that they recently got into an argument which escalated into a physical altercation. She said her mother-in-law slapped her for talking back at her, and she returned the slap in a heartbeat.

According to her, she retaliated the slap because her mother-in-law has no right to slap her as she is not her mother.

This apparently infuriated her husband and he sent her packing from their matrimonial home, and filed for a divorce. The woman said she is confused and needs advise on how to handle the matter.

Mixed reactions have trailed a photo of an Igbo man who married his foreign lover at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos.

This follows the recent controversial tweet of one Mazi Uchenna Odu who advised his fellow Igbo men to avoid court weddings at all cost.

He gave this advice in the light of Nigerian businesswoman May Edochie, who recently initiated divorce proceedings against her husband, actor Yul Edochie. She also filed a restraining order to bar him from entering their matrimonial home.

Well, days after the viral tweet, another Twitter user took to the microblogging to praise an Igbo man for marrying a foreign woman at the Ikoyi wedding registry.

He described the man as ‘hardworking’, and hailed him for securing a good future for himself.

Ashleigh Plumptre, a Super Falcons defender, is preparing to play against her birth country in the 2023 World Cup two years after switching her allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The defender, who is Nigerian through her paternal grandfather, played for England’s Under 17, Under 19, and Under 23 before making her debut for Nigeria in 2021.

Plumptre told BBC; “It’s always been assumed that I’m white.” The 25-year-old added that she feels obligated to represent the mixed-race community.

“People have different reasons for wanting to play for a different country. I grew up playing for England, but it was more of a life decision than a football decision.” she said.

I felt I had a responsibility to try to play for Nigeria, if I could. β€˜That just came from experiences within my family. I used to coach an Under 12s team with mixed heritage girls and feel I have a responsibility to learn about my heritage.
