The YBNL act, recently dropped his 3rd single, ‘Pick Up’ and we are expecting a debut album in 2016 and an unplugged show.

FALZ

We love Falz, who doesn’t? Falz easily became one of the most sought after MCs in 2015 with songs like ‘Karishika’, ‘Clap’, ‘Celebrity Girlfriend’ and more off his sophomore album, ‘Stories That Touch’. The album has been mentioned as one of the best albums, released by a Nigerian artist in 2015 and we expect to see it bag nominations and awards this year. Popularly known for his funny yet dope lyrics, Falz earned the respect and love from fans and other music enthusiasts all through 2015, including notable endorsement deals.

KOREDE BELLO

This young Mavin superstar blew us away with a song that we daresay was the most viral tune of 2015, ‘Godwin’. He bagged enviable endorsements deals in 2015 and numerous accolades including the award for the Best Pop Single and nominations at the AFRIMMA and KORA awards to mention a few. The leader of the Bellovers clan, is already having a great 2016 as his most recent single ‘Romantic’ featuring Tiwa Savage is already being referred to as one of the biggest tunes of 2016.

LIL KESH

‘…every song was a hit, back to back…’ Lil’Kesh was such a thrill in 2015, with strong follow-ups to his monster hit ‘Shoki’, he dominated the airwaves and streets with catchy lyrics and beats. The YBNL MC had a great year, stayed off controversies, bagged notable nominations and performed at some of the biggest events around Nigeria. Ghoste anticipates more hit records and a debut album from Lil’Kesh in 2016.

REEKADO BANKS

Crowned ‘Next Rated’ at the 2015 Headies, Reekado Banks blazed a hot trail of 4 singles and over 5 hit collaborations in 2015, a very impressive record for a new artist. In 2015, he bagged an enviable ambassadorial role with a Nigerian telecoms company. SIMI

If you haven’t heard Simi sing, where have you been? From her Restless EP, to her 1st official single ‘Tiff’ to her most prominent single, ‘Jamb Question’ and her most recent offering ‘Open & Close’, Simi has shown great prowess as a songwriter, vocalist and performer. In 2015, she was definitely the breakthrough female artist and in 2016, we expect more great music and maybe an album.

SKALES

One can arguably agree that Skales was the man of the year in 2015. Rising from a failed label contract, to owning one of the biggest hit songs in Africa, ‘Shake Body’ and a successful debut album release, Skales keeps proving why he deserves the ‘Man of the Year’ title. With over 5 singles and music videos ruling the airwaves to date, big music collaborations, performances in different countries and nominations at some of the most prestigious awards, a sophomore album in view, Skales is definitely one to look out for in 2016.

YUNG6IX

Yung 6ix went quiet for a bit but in 2015, he came back all grown up, with a trail of hot singles and collaborations, including ‘Blessings ft Oritsefemi’ and ‘For Example ft Stonebwoy’. We are excited about the consistency with his recent releases and his new brand direction. It is safe to expect hits from the South South MC, a sophomore album, nominations and maybe endorsements too.

“Tell Nigerians The Truth About Your Sudden Vacation” – Fayose Tells Buhari

Buhari-Fayose

Governor Fayose of Ekiti State, on Sunday, said the Presidency needs to be more open on President Muhammadu Buhari’s sudden vacation.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor, who prayed for safe return of the President, said Nigeria needs to know the truth. Said

“Nigerians deserve to know the truth about their President because the President is an open book that every Nigerians should be free to read.”

Nigerians deserve to know where exactly their president is spending his vacation.” He“We were told last Tuesday, that Mr President was travelling to France and from there to London to attend the Syria Donor Conference, and that he would return to Nigeria this weekend.

“All of a sudden, we were told that the President was embarking on a five-day vacation. Where and why? We were not told.

“Curiously, it was at this same period, last year that President Buhari, who was at that time the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, disappeared from public, with lies told about him granting interviews in London.

“It is therefore important that in future, the presidency should be more explicit in communicating with Nigerians on issues regarding the President because a nation’s president is an open book that can be read by anyone.”

Chinese Man Cuts Off The Fingers of Nigerian Worker With a Machete For Failing To Turn On Generator.

Njaga Chang, a Chinese man working at the Xin Quarry in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross Rivers state has been arrested for cutting off the fingers of his Nigerian colleague, 23-year-old Nisikak Tommy, because he failed to switch on the generator on time.

PUNCH reports that Chang attacked Tommy with a hose, before using a machet to slice off the boy’s right hand fingers when the boy tried to escape.

Eye witness, Ene Bassey, told PUNCH how it all happened. According to Bassey, Chang was upset by Tommy’s slow response and attacked him.

Nsikak-Tommy

“Chang chased him with a machete. He first deflated the tyres of Tommy’s motorcycle to prevent him from fleeing and tried to cut his head,” Bassey said, “Instinctively, Tommy raised his hand to block the cut aimed at his head. In the process, the machete cut off one of his fingers. He was left in a pool of blood as he cried for help.”

“After the incident, owners of the Xin Xin Quarry, who also own two other quarries in Akamkpa known as Expanded and Fughou Quarries, rather than attend to the injured man, ferried the Chinese man to Calabar and had him hidden,” Bassey added.

“It was Tommy’s fellow Nigerian workers at the quarry that managed to take him for treatment at the Bakor Medical Centre in Calabar.”

PUNCH reports that Chang was arrested by the Akamkpa police but was later released on bail as the company settled with victim.

Bonang Matheba and rapper AKA step out together as a couple for the first time

Bonang

South Africa’s most talked-about couple, AKA and Bonang Matheba, are finally making their relationship public.

Yesterday, the duo stepped out together in Johannesburg for an all-white party and also posed for a photo which everyone is now talking about.

The couple kicked off conversation this year after they went on vacation together in Mozambique. This happened after AKA made peace with DJ Zinhle.

Last week, following all the criticism their relationship has gotten, especially for AKA who has been dragged endlessly for breaking up with the mother of his child Dj Zinhle, the rapper was forced to respond to his critics.

“We have all moved on with our lives,” AKA tweeted, “It’s actually quite ridiculous how people are taking my separation with the mother of my child, worse than the mother of my child.”

We guess with their appearance yesterday, people will finally let them be.

Ben Murray-Bruce and Rotimi Amaechi in Epic Twitter Fight

ben-murray-bruce-21

Not The Politics kinda person, But I really love the way Ben Bruce and Rotimi Amaechi kept shading themselves! They should mention already!

So read what went down below:

Senator Ben Murray Bruce and Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi were involved in a twitter fight few hours ago.

Senator Bruce fired the first salvo towards Amaechi when he was apparently replying a jibe from bloggerJaphet Omojuwa. Omojuwa had tweeted that the senator should not be taken seriously for not criticising former president Goodluck Jonathan when he was in power.

Senator Bruce replied Omojuwa, mocking the blogger.

Then he fired another tweet, this time targeting Amaechi, who was alleged to have spent about N82 million on a dinner.

Rotimi Amaechi
Rotimi Amaechi

The tweet was reference to a statement cerdited to President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians were not welcome in the United Kingdom because of the criminal activities some Nigerians engaged in over there.

But Amaechi did not take the veiled reference to his alleged extravagant spending lying low.

He blasted the senator for not being bold enough to mention the name of the minister in his tweet.

“A coward who is not bold enough to name the minister that he alleged criminally spent N80M on dinner is unfit to sit in our senate chambers,” he tweeted.

Bruce came back with another tweeting to mock the minister. He referred to the recent Supreme Court judgment that upheld the election of Nyesom Wike as governor. He said the judgement “Wike’d” Amaechi.

Amaechi responded with a tweet of his own, accusing the minister of being active only on Twitter and not on the floor of the Senate.

He tweeted, “I will not respond to innuendos. Be courageous, name the minister. We know you talk here & do ‘siddon’ look where you are elected to talk.”

Here’s What TY Bello Has To Say About Our Favorite Bread Seller Turned Model

index (24)

Below is what TY Bello has to say about our favorite bread seller turned model.

“Aso kan na ni mo wo kiri Lana ‘.. Jumoke the ‘model’ the Internet had been searching for speaks almost no English.

She explained how she had worn the exact outfit in our photograph the day before and someone showed her her own photograph on his phone from face book. A mallam led her to my studio that morning.

She narrated her journey to Lagos …A hair stylist from Ire in Osun state but not making enough profit between she and her husband , a sliding door installer in from same village ,to care for their two young children.

At the invitation of a distant relative who knew someone operating a bakery , she relocated lagos with her 14 month old daughter to give bread hawking a try , leaving her husband and older 5 year old behind.

As I listened to her I wandered if the beauty I had seen on my screen as I edited my image was a fluke ..well until she smiled ., I realized that I was wrong ., I had in fact ,underestimated the beauty of this 27 year old woman.

As always ., it was her eyes and of course her perfectly chiseled features that jumped out at you when she chuckled .This lady belonged in front of my camera.

After a conversation with her husband telling him the story of our meeting I decided I was going to photograph her that very afternoon..Within an hour ..Bimpe Onakoya , one of Nigeria’s leading makeup artist and Zubby one of my favourite hairstylist were at my studio to work magic.

They had both followed the story online and were more than happy to put in their very best for her.Olajumoke .., with curly extensions out ,revealed a short natural Afro that beautifully hugged her face.@Bimpeonakoya also had decided to keep the make up minimal… She stepped in front of my camera and I almost couldn’t recognize her . She moved different too.

Jumoke looked straight into my lens emoting like she had done this all her life …. I knew we had found a star”

Prince Odi Okojie Answers Questions on His Political Ambition

12565556_840851616037643_3638605758235617392_n

Since the news hit the media that Edo State youth have resolved to have one of their own to represent them in the upcoming governorship election in Edo State and have called on me to come and represent them, I have been inundated by calls, messages, volunteers making themselves freely available, and independently sponsored publicity all encouraging me to come out (since my party in their wisdom, have zoned the deputy governorship ticket to my senatorial district- Edo central) and answer this call to serve my land and my people.

However, in the midst of this gazillion support and encouragement, a few persons mostly out of concern have wondered audibly “why would a vibrant and young man border to waste his time and money in politics?”

In response to this and many other questions – some I have privately answer- and because of those who don’t have the privilege of access to me, I have decided to provide these public answers:

MJ-hUBBY-New-Pics-YabaLeftOnline-012

“Why waste time and resources in politics?”

The vastness of the REAL CHANGE that is needed in my State and the energy it requires is too huge for the shoulders of old men alone. Most civilized nations know this and it is reflected in the ageof those who now lead them.

If the youth does not have the audacity to step up and take their own responsibility, we will still be a third world 100 years from now.

Our problem as a nation is that we have been led by the DREAM of the old generation whereas the VISION of the young has been missing.

The VISION of how a state or a nation should be, lies with the youth and even the Bible clearly stated this – old men dream dreams, young me see vision.

I am persuaded that my time and in fact my life would have been well spent if I succeed in channeling a new VISION for my beloved state and that is why I term it the audacity of hope.

“Why will a husband of a beautiful and successful actress want to contest?”

(Laughed) I am grateful for the life and family God has given me. Grateful for who my wife is and grateful to God that we are going to have many beautiful years ahead together.

However, there are thousands of families out there where one square meal a day is a miracle. I have found out that no matter how much I and my wife give out, it is never just enough to cover everyone we would have loved to help.

This is one of the reasons I accepted the call to serve because I believed there must be a better way to reach everybody and help them to help themselves.

“A concerned family member is worried for my safety?”

Even outside of politics, life is a risk. Even in the United States you see how people die now and then from gun shots.

We cannot afford to continue living in fear and limit ourselves because of fear for our lives. Every time we step out of our homes, we take risk, politics is one of those risks as well.

“Another family friend is worried about the ‘insult’ I will get online and many are genuinely worried about what will happen if I don’t get my party’s nomination. And few of my wife’s online followers are concerned she might also be insulted or embarrassed?”

Greatness does not come without its own challenges. A child that is afraid to fall will never walk. Even my wife records the number of time she failed before the humble success she has now.

Those who care enough about pursuing their vision have no time to consider ‘insult’ from the many ‘anonymous’ who hide behind phone or computer screen.

My only question was whether it was a noble cause. And after consulting with wife (because she will be affected by my decision) and relevant stake holders, I decided to answer the call.

Mind you, my personal resources are like a drop in the ocean in attempt to set off some youth to stand on their own. We must now use our common wealth for our common good.

MJ-hUBBY-New-Pics-YabaLeftOnline-011

ON THE YOUTHS OF EDO STATE
The youth constitute about 70% of the population of my State. We cannot continue to disenfranchise such huge mass in the administration of our state.

The state belongs to them, virtually every political promise is made to the youth – jobs, economy revamp, education, etc., it is only logical to let them be a part of the class that will provide their own solution. You can’t claim to know how a shoe pitches when you are not in the shoe.

I clearly identify with the call of the youth to have one of their own to represent them. And I will be ceasing the initiative.

We have to put energy and life back to our party and tell the teaming youth of the state why they should follow us again. And let them know that in us they will have access to their leaders because one of them is there. And these and many more reasons are the substratum on which my ‘Audacity of Hope’ is founded.

Korede Bello recounts how Himself & Don Jazzy Produced “Godwin” In Three Days

korede-bentley

Mavin Records Artiste – Korede Bello is without no single doubt one of the biggest names in the Nigerian Entertainment industry, and he continues to wows and entertain us.

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, he spoke about his biggest song of his career and how it came about.

“Godwin was divinely a God project and I hope that God will bless my other works like he did Godwin. It was Don Jazzy that started the project and when he was half way, I joined him and we co-wrote the song together.

At that moment, the song was inspired by the beat. But before then, I had always wanted to do a song that would touch all demography and that everyone could relate to. I have always dreamed of having a song with a message that people would dance to in the clubs and the same song could be sung in church.

Godwin is the quickest song that we ever did. I have some songs in the studio that we recorded two years ago. It took us about three days to complete Godwin and within a week, the song was already out.

It was easy to get the lyrics because it is about everyday situations,” he said.

“Nobody can bring back the Chibok Girls because they are nowhere to be found” – Obasanjo

obj

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok, Borno State may never be found because their whereabout is unknown.

He stated this on Friday, February 5 while fielding questions during the Seventh Roundtable with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a programme organised by Obafemi Awolowo University Staff Club.

“The search for the abducted Chibok girls may not be fruitful. Nobody can bring back the girls because they are nowhere to be found.” he said.

Obasanjo blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan for ignoring the distress call to rescue the girls on the day they were abducted.

“The former president heard about the kidnap 8am in the morning of the abduction but failed to act until 72 hours later and by then it was too late.”

“Anyone saying the Chibok girls will return is telling lies, maybe some of them will return to tell their story.”

According to him, the best efforts to rescue the girls can yield is that few of the girls may be found.

He described the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the 2015 presidential election as a blessing to Nigeria.

Responding to a question posed to him about the constant fight between him and Prof. Wole Soyinka, Obasanjo described the playwright and Nobel laureate as a hunter rather than a political analyst.

“I will trust Wole Soyinka as an “aporo hunter” than trusting him as a political analyst. I have no ssue with him”

In-laws of Lawyer Accused of Stabbing Husband to Death Reveal what Started the Crises

compressed-6k1h

Elder brother to Mr Lowo Oyediran, who was allegedly murdered by his wife in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, Mr Adewale Adelani Oyediran, has in new interviews with Nigerian Tribune, revealed what started the crises in the tragic marriage that led to Lowo’s death.

According to him, Lowo and his wife were married for about three years, but Lowo had a girlfriend in France who along the line, she got pregnant for him and bore him a male child about a year ago.

Lowo’s wife stumbled on that information and that was the genesis of the crisis.

What was your relationship with the deceased?

Honestly, I don’t know how to describe myself; I was like a father to him.

How did you feel when you learned of his alleged killing?

I felt devastated, confounded. I could not imagine that Lowo, with whom I spoke five days before that fateful day, could have life snuffed out of him in his prime. Lowo was everything to the family.

He was the bridge between the old and the young. He unified everybody in the family. He was a comforter to everybody. I sponsored his university education. I never knew that I was never going to see Lowo again.

He always said that ‘I know we don’t have money in our family, but daddy, if God spares my life, I would put smile on the face of everybody.’ He was struggling. He attended Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, from where he moved to France to continue his post-graduate programme.

Since 2006, he only came back to Nigeria in 2012. His wedding was on 8 February and 9 February, 2013. We sponsored the ceremonies. If there was a comedian in the family, it was Lowo. He had a high sense of humour. We were jolted when we were informed that Lowo had been stabbed to death by his wife.

When we got to the police station at Akobo, there was pandemonium. There was wailing. All the family members had converged on the police station. From there, we moved to the house with the landlord and policemen.

The landlord did not mince words in his statement that it was Yewande that slaughtered him.

He disclosed that in her first attempt to kill Lowo, she only succeeded in stabbing him in the armpit and on the back. He was rushed to the hospital.

After he was treated, they went back home and the landlord tried to settle their dispute. They did not go to bed until about 3.00 in the morning. The landlord said he even advised Lowo to sleep in his apartment but he said there was no need for that since the quarrel had been settled.

The landlord said some minutes past 6.00 a.m., there was a cry for help from Lowo’s flat and people rushed out only to find that he had been stabbed, again, in the neck by his wife when he was sleeping. Lowo managed to take a few steps afterwards and slumped just as he got outside.

If he was not asleep, it would not have been possible for his wife to overpower him. The wife had previously boasted to the woman that took her husband to the hospital after the first attack that what she did was just a tip of the iceberg.

The woman said she was oblivious of the seriousness of her statement because all she was concerned about at the time was to save Lowo’s life, otherwise she would have recorded her statement.

The police had invited the woman to give her statement concerning the incident. The doctor who treated Lowo had also been invited by the police. This is a clear case of murder. The knife that she used to stab Lowo was found in the pool of his blood. It is in the picture.

The only thing that is giving us concern is that we cannot find his cell phone. The world is a global village and it would be easy to get his last conversation on the phone through the GSM network provider.

His death is a colossal loss to us. We had to take our aged mother to Ife under the pretext that she was going to see her doctor so that she would not know what had happened.

For the fact that Lowo spoke with her about four days earlier, she could not suspect that he had died. Lowo’s death is like a conspiracy, a grand design to just snuff the life out of him.

If you look at the picture of the first and second attempts, you will know what I am talking about. They were married for about three years, but Lowo had a girlfriend in France and along the line, she got pregnant for him and bore him a male child about a year ago. But, Lowo’s wife stumbled on that information and that was the genesis of the crisis.

Since then, there had been angry disputes between them. I was aware that Yewande’s family invited them and settled the matter. Her parents told her to accept what had happened because there was nothing she could do about it. Perhaps she had a plan unknown to Lowo.

I remember that Lowo confided in me that Yewande told him that he should not let our family know about his girlfriend who had had a child for him back in France.

What is the situation now?

We are worried about the desperation of Yewande’s parents. Her father is a retired permanent secretary. Former Governor Rashidi Ladoja was the chairman of Lowo’s wedding ceremony. Besides, Yewande works as a counsel in the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, at the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).

If an incident of this nature happens, it is her office that treats it and makes recommendations for trial.

Before this incident, was there any time that you settled a quarrel between the couple?

Honestly, there was never a time that we settled a dispute for them. The only thing we noticed was that on their wedding day, she was brought here so that they could pour water on her legs.

They wanted to get water from a bowl but she refused. So, we had to get bottled water and then the wife of the Olufi of Gbongan poured the water on her feet. That was the last time we saw Yewande.

There was not even a phone call from her. Before the wedding, when Lowo complained, I said it was not by force; that we should call off the wedding if necessary. All along, whenever they fought, Lowo would say that her father was a very good man.

With the way they are acting, we hope that the Ministry of Justice where Yewande works will not pervert the course of justice in this matter. We are not ready to tinker with anything but let justice be done.

k

Do you know how they met?

They met the way every other man and woman would meet. Coincidentally, Yewande’s younger sister is also married to somebody from Gbongan. They are in America. Now, somebody in France did not want to marry a French national.

He preferred a Nigerian who was educated and reliable and within five months, they met. It was my wife who bankrolled the journey of Yewande to Dubai, where they met.

What does the family want now?

We want justice and fairness. We want justice to take its full course so that the matter will not be swept under the carpet. The news is all over the world. Somebody just called me from Canada about it.

Justice must not be subverted. I asked Yewande’s father how he would feel if it was his daughter that was killed. What they would be planning now is how to defend Yewande in court. We cannot find Lowo’s international passports.

They have packed everything, both his Nigerian and French passports. The documents of his company, we could not find them. His business partner in Sweden, whom we called, said all the original documents were with Lowo in Nigeria.

He said that he only had the photocopies. Lowo’s death has created a big vacuum in our family that will be difficult to fill. He was just 38 years old, cut down in his prime. I couldn’t go to their house ‘cos of her —Abisola, Lowo’s niece

How would you describe Lowo’s death?

I would describe it as disaster. It was not expected at all. The morning of the incident, I woke up in tears even without knowing that something terrible had happened. I went into my dad’s room and asked if he slept well. I told my mum about the tears in my eyes and the dream I had.

So, we decided to pray. But my father’s brother called us about five times. My mum asked dad to answer the call, so he picked up the phone and said, ‘Deji, I will call you back. We are praying.’ But Uncle Deji asked my dad not to hang up the phone. He said Uncle Lowo had been killed. After they got married, Yewande chased everybody away. I couldn’t go to their house because of her.

When the incident happened and we got to the police station, Lowo’s corpse was not there and Yewande was not there.

We learnt that she was in the hospital, receiving treatment. Their landlord told us that when she first stabbed him, she threatened that ‘I will kill you today.’ The killing was absurd.

I helped her marry him, now she’s killed him –Bunmi Oyediran, sister-in-law

You facilitated Yewande’s visit to Lowo, how?

I bought the air ticket for Yewande to meet Lowo in Dubai. Now, she has killed him. If you called Lowo and he was with his wife, he would say ‘I will call you back.’ He had so much fear for his wife.

If his wife was not around, he would call and say that we should come and play with him. Since the day of her wedding, Yewande never stepped into this house. Her father even called me one day after the wedding, cursing me that I did not put clothes in her wedding box.

My husband trained Lowo after he left secondary school. Lowo was everything to me. He understood me and knew everything about me. If I was angry, they would call Lowo to talk to me. They have taken him away from me. I cannot see Lowo again! Yewande’s father was begging me yesterday.

For what, after the deed has been done? When I was pregnant with my youngest child, I never knew. Lowo encouraged me to take a medical test, which confirmed the pregnancy. This was because I was already over 40 years when I got pregnant.

Lowo said I should come to France and relax because of my age.

Man Beaten By Army Cadets For Complimenting A Female Cadet Recounts His Ordeal

Sunday Amari, a 25-year old man brutally beaten by several Nigerian Army cadets in Abuja for complimenting a female army cadet, has given a full account of his ordeal.

SaharaReporters first released the video of the gruesome beating of the man, and the video quickly went viral.

In the video, a female cadet from the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) in Kaduna is seen slapping, smacking and kicking the victim, with other female and male cadets soon joining her to brutalize Mr. Amari.

In an interview today, Mr. Amari told SaharaReporters that the assault took place on December 31, 2014 at the Jabi Lake Park in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, where he serves as a parks and recreation officer.

His account contradicts a claim by the Nigerian Defense Academy that the attack happened in Lagos. Mr. Amari stated that the cadets attacked and nearly killed him while he was at his duty post.

He disclosed that he was not the original victim of the violent cadets, who included two females and seven males.

According to him, the cadets’ first victim was another man seen at the end of the video.

He revealed that the cadets had brutalized the first victim to the extent that the man may have suffered serious brain or nerve damage.

Mr. Amari, who is fondly called “Sunny,” said the unruly cadets set upon him for fear that he might report their atrocities.

He said he was carrying out his duty of moving around the park to ensure that everything was in order when he saw the nine cadets around 4 p.m. beating up a civilian. He said he walked towards the cadets and their victim out of curiosity.

According to him, the cadets then beckoned on him and asked why he was looking at them. Before he could speak, they descended on him and gave him a brutal beating even as he pleaded with them that he was a recreation officer at the park.

He revealed that at least five of the cadets participated in beating him until he passed out.

He said he was left for dead, adding that a kind stranger took pity on him and conveyed him to the hospital where he spent a week recuperating from his serious injuries.

Mr. Amari, who hails from Opoko local government area of Benue State, said he had reported the assault to the cadets’ director, a retired military officer, who told him nothing could be done since his attackers were military cadets.

The Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) in Kaduna has issued a series of tweets claiming that the assault happened in Lagos while the cadets were on break, adding that the affected cadets would be punished.

The NDA did not respond to emails from SaharaReporters seeking information on the identities of the cadets who took part in the horrifying beating of Mr. Amari.
