“Why I ventured into music” – Skit maker, Taaooma

Popular comedienne and content creator, Maryam Akpaogaki, better known as Taaooma, has revealed why she ventured into music.

The multi-talented skit maker, during her appearance on the latest episode of The Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo, explained that she ventured into music because she believed it would be more fitting to use her own songs in her skits rather than relying on songs by other artists.

According to her, entertainment represents freedom, allowing one to explore various avenues.

“For me, entertainment is freedom. You can do anything.

“I also like the fact that it’s my music. It’s my song. It’s a song that I can be proud that I made. I just feel like I’m using other people’s songs [in my skits], and this thing is not so hard. I have a studio; we can record songs.

“I love music. Some people used to say I have [a melodic] voice. But, I feel like, instead of me trying to sing, we can do collaborations and make something happen,” she said.

Addressing the criticism she has faced for her musical pursuits, Taaooma firmly stated that it is ultimately up to God and her unwavering dedication to prove her detractors wrong.

Police arrest cow belonging to cultists in Osun

The Osun State Police Command’s anti-cultism section have detained a cow that was reportedly going to be used in an Osogbo celebration of Cultists Day on July 7th.

Residents of Osogbo’s Egbatedo neighborhood gave the police a tip-off after they observed cult members congregating there on Friday for the yearly event.

The suspects left the cow behind as they fled when they saw the cops approaching. The cow was tagged with an axe symbol and had the word “Oroki” written on it. The police confiscated the cow and took it into their possession.

The incident was reported on Saturday by SP Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Command spokeswoman.

“After intelligence revealed plans by a particular cult to celebrate the 7/7 festival. The CP ordered operatives to ensure that the plan by these cultists fail.”

The operatives, working in line with that directive, combed every part of the state and went to Egbatedo, a suburb of Osogbo. When the suspects saw them, they fled but the cow they planned to use for the celebration was seized. We want to assure people of the state that the command will continue to work hard to keep the state very safe,” the PPRO stated.

Israel Joe calls out Warri-based Prophet for allegedly making unwanted advances to young men

Human rights activist, Israel Joe has accused an unidentified well-known prophet from Warri of pursuing him in an unwelcome same-sex relationship.

According to Mr. Joe, the prophet had been calling and talking to him often for about three months and had been showing interest in starting a relationship.

Mr. Joe decided to speak out against the prophet’s alleged acts, calling him a “gay prophet,” and that he had heard of similar occurrences involving the religious leader allegedly preying on young guys.

He wrote;

“There is this gay prophet in Warri who specializes in asking young men out. In one or two occasions, his actions has been reported to me but I find it not necessary to respond,” he wrote.

He started chatting me up about three months. Ordinarily, you wouldn’t need to go far on a chat, for me to determine your end intent. I asked him if he knew I am a psychologist by training, but the man didn’t even picked the reason for my question so I started ignoring him.

For about three months, he kept calling and chatting me. On Monday this week, he opened up that he wanted a relationship with me. Trouble we e dey sleep wen wahala wan wake so.

I called him straight and told him, I have the capacity to mess him up in a rugged way, arrest him and still drag him on social media. That very Tuesday, the next day, I told him about all his movements, where he went to take lunch, places he parked and areas he visited.

He was surprised because at that point, the vulnerable homósexuaI prophet knew that with such itinerary, if I had given the permission he would get seriously hurt, but not me, I won’t do that.

I know he is reading this because he is here on this space. Slippers get size na. Who dey manage two car get mind they ask out fellow man wen e get three cars, rich pass am 10 times and wen e fit destroy e career in minutes.

If I post his conversation and disgusting voicenote, it will look like antagonising Christianity which I will never do. This is his last warning.”

“No be her fault, she dey try learn work from our leaders” – Charly Boy reacts to Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s confession

Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has argued that political figures may have had an impact on the current admissions issue involving Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, a UTME candidate.

On Sunday, Charly Boy—who is well known for taking a strong position on societal issues and criticizing political figures—took to Twitter to express his opinions.

The issue started when the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) scores were made public. Nkechiyere Umeh was first named the applicant with the highest score—a 360—in that round.

Mmesoma, a 19-year-old student at Uruagu Nnewi’s Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, disagreed with this outcome, stating she had received a 362-point score.

The Anambra State government appointed a committee to look into her accusations in response.

Mmesoma stated that she had falsified her exam results, which was supported by the committee’s conclusions.

Charly Boy amongst many others responded to this news by immediately making a connection between Mmesoma’s conduct and the social impact of political leaders.

Taking to his Twitter page, Charly Boy expressed his surprise at Mmesoma’s ability to fool so many people—including himself—with her fluent defense and seeming innocence.

He also underlined the need for caution when making judgments, implying that Mmesoma was still a gifted person who needed parental direction and counseling.

He wrote;

“Mmesoma Ejikeme fooled many including me, checkout the fluency with which she defended herself with such innocence. These children na wa, ooo. She is still a brilliant girl so let’s not be in a hurry to destroy her, the parents have a lot of counselling to do with her.

By the way, who never fuckup, raise ur hand. She learn work from leaders that believed that forgery is good plus those who never found their weac result till date. Am sure she was in dis Naija as INEC was manipulating Nigeria electoral process.”

Delta youth group flogs ladies for indecent dressing

A  group of youngsters in the Ubeji village in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, under the auspices of the Ubeji Youth and Employment Development Organization, have taken strong measures against females who engage in indecent attire.

According to Punch, members of the youth group had started clamping down on suspected offenders by subjecting them to strokes of the cane or in the alternative imposed fines on them.

The execution of the “War Against Indecent Dressing” campaign among young women in the neighborhood, which started on Monday, July 3, 2023, reportedly generated fear among females in the area.

It was discovered that some of the victims were forced to pay penalties as high as N10,000 or endure 40 cane strokes.

When the news broke, the youth group’s secretary, Stanley Bomele, informed the media that the exercise became necessary due to the provocative ways ladies dressed in the community.

“Most of the girls had gone haywire in the name of fashion with some of them almost going about in nudity, which is irritating and does not tell well of the community,” he added.

Bomele attributed the major cause of assaults and sexual harassment in the area to indecent dressing among young ladies.

“She beats me like hell” – Husband drags wife to court and narrates painful experience (Video)

A husband has stirred reactions online after he filed a lawsuit against his wife due to the upsetting treatment he receives at home.

He disclosed that, although being married, his own wife had caused him considerable anguish.

He described his wife’s activities, how she routinely beats him up, and how she takes advantage of any chance to do so.

He recalled a time when she questioned him about why he didn’t beg for forgiveness as her father does when her mother hits him.

He did say, though, that unlike himself, her father could have the stamina to withstand such treatment.

The man also said that his wife had repeatedly destroyed all of his clothes, leaving him with nothing to go to work and compelled to borrow clothing from his neighbor.

Additionally, he accused his wife of engaging in infidelity with one of his friends.

Reacting to the video a twitter user commented; “No matter how emotional your story is as a man in an abusive relationship, people will hardly help, take you serious or believe you. The game is rigged.”

@iamlindagraham: “This isn’t funny. If it was the other way round they’ll be talking about domestic violence. This is the luxury of double standards we women enjoy. I said what I said. I’ve also said that we aren’t ready to talk about men facing domestic abuse in the home too. We’re still stuck on gender wars.”

“I have been writing songs since I was 8, 9, 10. I started music and photography [professionally] right at the same time. After university, when everyone in my class knew where they wanted to work. And I had no such dream. I was very confused.

University was that period where I thought, ‘okay, let me go to school to make my mum happy. Then I was going to graduate to be a big hairstylist.’ I thought that was my future.

When it came to NYSC and everybody asked where to be posted to, I asked to be posted to the south. I was like, what do I do? And I think that was the major turning point where I realised that I had to be posted to phototech because I just started photography. It wasn’t like I wanted to be a photographer all my life, but that one move made me who I am today.”

“If Nigeria didn’t celebrate elected officials who rig elections, young people won’t forge certificates” – Bitcoin Chief insists on sponsoring Mmesoma

Founder of Tatcoin, Gaius Chibueze also known as Bitcoin Chief has maintained his choice to support Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme’s international education despite the fact that she was indicted for faking exam results.

He claimed that if politicians who falsify their credentials can be supported and accepted, the little girl should also receive the same treatment. He offered to send her to the US, Canada, or the UK to further her education.

After the panel established by the Anambra State Government to look into the alleged fabrication of Mmesoma’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result issued its findings, Chibueze reaffirmed his commitment on his Twitter page.

He wrote;

“DEAR ALL!

I will still sponsor Mmesoma. Whether she agreed or not that’s not my problem. Suppose illegality was not celebrated openly like INEC swearing in a President who didn’t win the Elections, A president with a Forged Certificate and no trace of Primary to University Education, If Nigeria didn’t celebrate Elected officials who rig elections, etc. Young people won’t see a reason to forge certificates and be celebrated openly. While we address this, we must look at the entire society.

If you want us to accept, celebrate and defend a President who rigged Election with Forged Certificate, we must also not destroy Little Girl’s future with a forged certificate.

I will personally call her and explain to her that JAMB numbers don’t define how far she can go in life and next time she shouldn’t bother Forging one.

I and our company
@voiceoftheeast
will still SPONSOR her!

Whenever we are ready to clean the mess society has become we will start with public officials many who are elected with forged certificates. They are the bad examples People like Mmesoma are copying from.
She has made a mistake and she must be corrected and shown the right path for next time!
Selah!”

“JAMB officials led by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Head Public Affairs presented the detailed processes and procedures involved in JAMB admissions, the policy changes that have occurred in the release of UTME scores since 2021 and what specifically transpired between the candidate – Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma with registration number: 20230639047FF in her quest to obtain her JAMB score.

“JAMB revealed the different times that Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma made several requests to JAMB portal asking for her results at different hours, and each of these times (four in number), she received in her phone, same results from JAMB indicating candidate’s UTME Results to wit: Eng: 64, Phy:54, Bio: 74, Che: 57 with a total aggregate score of 249.

“JAMB disclosed that the candidate was well informed of her correct score from JAMB. Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma had sent a request to JAMB with a different registration number showing a UTME result of aggregate score of 362, with Eng: 98, Phy: 89, Bio: 94, and Che: 81.

“The results she sent differed substantially from the standard JAMB format where she got an appropriate rebuttal stating her real score of 249.

“Besides, a number of red-flags were also highlighted by JAMB officials showing a different date of birth, different Registration Number, Notification of results template that has been discarded since 2021, amongst others.

“It was also evident that even the centre name “Nkemefuna Foundation (Thomas Chidoka Centre for Human Development as it was known before now) used for the examination was also manipulated where the candidate used the old name of the centre (Thomas Chidoka Centre for Human Development) in her own manipulated result sheet.

“In Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s submission, she owned up in the presence of her principal, and the Education Secretary that the narration by the JAMB officials was a true and correct description of what transpired.

“She also admitted to have given a manipulated result by herself unaided, using the same phone Airtel Number. According to her, she proceeded to the cybercafe (Prisca Global Computers, Uruagu, Nnewi) where she printed the results she had manipulated.

“The Committee tried to find out the motive behind her action, but Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma said NOTHING. In their own submissions, the Principal Anglican Girls’ Secondary school, Uruagu Nnewi, and the Education Secretary – Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed shock at what transpired where in their presence, Mmesoma admitted to have manipulated her UTME results, deceiving the school, her immediate family and the State Government.”

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie’s first wife, May Edochie, has returned to social media following the tragic passing of their son, Kambilichukwu.

She posted a photo of herself and her children and, in her caption, paid tribute to her late son and thanked everyone for their love and support during her time of grief.

“Words are not enough to express our gratitude to you all. In all of these ordeals, we believe that this immeasurable loss is heaven’s gain.

When you loose a husband, you are called a widow….. You loose a wife, a widower….
You loose a father, fatherless…. You loose a mother, motherless… You loose both parents, an orphan…
You loose a sibling, “forgotten mourner”….

Other than vilomah which means “against a natural oder”, I cannot find an English word for loosing a child. I do not think there’s any death as intense and painful as loosing one’s child. We are still in inexpressible grief, however, I want you all to know that we are fine by God’s special grace.

Indeed the uncertainty of tomorrow remains a mystery and some occurrences are unforgettable but we just have to find a way to live with them no matter how painful and difficult they are.

The incredible love and support from you all my family, friends and well wishers all around the globe through various means are unimaginable and unconditional. In recent times, we have experienced the most devastating and traumatic circumstances of life but your prayers have kept us going.

My friends and family have been a great pillar and helped me through the process in the most amazing ways. All the brands I represent have been kind and patient. Life left me in a state of resigning myself to fate with a meaningless and overwhelming feeling, but you, my amazing fans, stood by me even in my absence. This love is “God’s grace” and can only be described as both the wonder and awe of serendipity.

We truly appreciate and cannot thank you all enough, and sincerely hope that everything sums up into enabling us stand the tragic loss and panic.
We only have God’s blessings to offer in return and pray that affliction will never rise in your homes in Jesus name. 🙏❤️

It is impossible to forget a child so he’ll always remain the second of my four adorable children. Continue to rest in the bossom of the Almighty my sweet angel, Kambilnachukwu, until we meet again. 🙏💔” She wrote.

“Man of God told my mum that I was destined to do music” – Mavin artiste, Bayanni

Rising Nigerian singer, Oladokun Abimbola Elijah, popularly known as Bayanni, has disclosed that a prophet had previously informed his mother he would become a musician.

The “Ta Ta Ta” crooner claimed that was the major reason his family did not forbid him from pursuing a career in music. He said that the man of God who had given his mother the prophesy when he was a child had instructed her to assist him when he ultimately showed interest.

On a recent edition of Hip TV’s ‘Trending’ program, Bayanni recalled the childhood memory while being interviewed by media personality, KimOprah.

The Mavin signee further stated that before receiving the record contract, Don Jazzy appeared to him four times in his dreams. According to the 26-year-old, he saw himself working with Don Jazzy in the studio and the vision eventually came true after he got signed.

Bayanni said;

“When I told my parents that I was going to do music fully, they didn’t object. They just said, ‘okay’. That was when my mum told me about something that happened when I was little.

She said a prophet told her that there would be a time when I would tell her that I want to do music and she should support me. So, when I told her [I wanted to do music], she let me. She already knew that time would come.”
