A Madrid woman has been arrested for killing her 3-month-old baby by slashing its throat in a cemetery chapel.
A Civil Guard spokesman said the woman, 37-year-old Spaniard, was arrested early Wednesday in the cemetery of Villa de Don Fadrique, a town of some 4,000 inhabitants located just southeast of Madrid.
The woman was recently admitted at the psychiatric hospital and picked up her son that same day from a relative’s house when she was discharged.
She was then alleged to have taken the baby to the cemetery where she used a kitchen knife to fatally cut the infant’s neck.
After the act, the woman is said to have burst into a nearby chapel yelling “I have the devil inside”.
Spain’s largest newspaper, El Mundo reported that a neighbor called authorities when she saw the woman walking around near the cemetery looking ‘very nervous’.
Police showed up at the scene where they found the dead baby and the mother walking around in shock.
The woman was treated by doctors and taken to a nearby hospital for further assessment.

Ending a relationship and living through a heartbreak is inevitable…one of the perks of having a soul. However, the process in itself can be a chore, given all the possible ways it can go terribly wrong.
Most people resort to the modern practice of doing the deed via text (which is not so cool) or they just keep mute, hoping the relationship will someday fizzle into non-existence, however some who are more mature prefer to handle the situation face to face.
While a confrontation is surely the best move, having the perfect location lessens the blow and certainly makes life a lot easier. On Wednesday, 12th of August, 2015, the Nigerian senate suspended consideration of the report of its Finance committee following sharp disagreements among members over the pay cut recommended by the panel.
It was learnt that the senators during a two-hour deliberation behind closed doors, resolved to reject the reduction of salaries and allowances as recommended by the Senator James Manager’s committee.
The senators, according to one of them, said it was not possible to accept pay cut with other beneficiaries of the N120bn National Assembly annual budget not doing same. The senator said that his colleagues accordingly resolved to reject the report because the recommendations were not practicable.
Some other senators who also spoke to The PUNCH on condition of anonymity said further consideration of the finance committee report was stepped down because many of their colleagues rejected the contents of the report.
On what transpired at the closed- door session, Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP Edo South), said senators told themselves the truth at the session on the need to be very cautious on accepting reduction of salaries and allowances.
Urhoghide said that majority of the senators agreed that “funny allowances” like the monthly N42,000 wardrobe allowance should be cut off completely.
He said,
“Yes, as recommended by the committee, all senators agreed that there must be openness in Senate budget and by extension, that of the National Assembly.“At the same time, many reasoned that why should we further reduce our budget when already, N30bn has been reduced from the traditional 150bn that it used to be for all the seven different organs of the National Assembly. “All of us have people in our constituencies and financial requests from them keep piling up on a daily basis, the reality of which made steps to be redirected, otherwise, some of us may stop coming here.”
The committee, also recommended the publication of all the payments accruable to each senator on a quarterly basis.

On Tuesday, 11th of August, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari stated that, “in a matter of weeks”, the Federal Government will begin the trial of persons alleged to have stolen from the national coffers.
The President spoke while addressing members of the National Peace Committee, led by a former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a statement by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the president was quoted as telling Abubakar and members of his committee that his administration that…
“Those who have stolen the national wealth will be in court in a matter of weeks and Nigerians will know those who have short-changed them,” Nigeria has to break this vicious cycle before we can make progress,” “We have really degenerated as a country. Our national institutions, including the military, which did wonderfully on foreign missions in the past, have been compromised. But we are doing something about it. The military is now retraining and morale has been resuscitated.
“As petroleum minister under Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo in the 1970s, I could not travel abroad until I had taken a memo to the Federal Executive Council, asking for estacode. Now, everybody does what he wants.
“That is why security-wise and economically, we’re in trouble.”
But the committee, which Buhari has transformed into the National Peace Council, also told the President to remember that Nigeria was no longer under military rule and that he should follow due process in the trial of suspected looters.
Abubakar and members of his committee urged the Federal Government to be guided by the rule of law in its fight against corruption.
A member of the committee, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah, spoke with State House correspondents at the end of the closed-door meeting with the President.
“It (the way corruption war is being fought) is not heating up the polity.“In our conversation with (ex) President Goodluck Jonathan and members of the parties, I don’t think any Nigerian is in favour of corruption or is against the President’s commitment to ensuring that we turn a new leaf.“I think what we are concerned about is the process. It is no longer a military regime and under our existing laws, everybody is innocent until proven guilty.
“Again, our own commitment is not to intimidate or fight anybody. The former President’s commitment and what he did still remains spectacular and I think that President Buhari himself appreciates that.“So, our effort really is to make sure that the right thing is done.”
Jonathan had reportedly complained to the committee over alleged victimization of his aides by the incumbent administration in its anti-corruption crusade.
Kukah confirmed that members of the committee had met with Jonathan after meeting with some political parties.
He claimed the meeting with Buhari was not at Jonathan’s instance, saying the parley was a continuation of a series of intervention aimed at getting feedback from the conduct of the last elections.
He said,
“Anybody is free to come to our committee but President Jonathan never by telephone or other means talked to the committee.“We went to see him, but that is after we had already seen members of the political parties and members of the civil society.“We planned to see the Speaker (of the House of Representatives) because we couldn’t see him yesterday.“This is a much-planned series of intervention, essentially just to hear out everybody and I think the good news is that Nigerians are committed to a new nation, they are committed to ensuring that the gains and blessings God has given us come to fruition.”
Kukah said the meeting with the President was neither an intervention nor a hearing session.
Outrage has erupted in India after the arrest of dozens of couples at a number of hotels in Mumbai last week because they were allegedly unmarried.
Over 40 couples were dragged out of their hotel rooms and were reportedly taken to a nearby police station where they were held for several hours and some were even forced to call their parents.
Witnesses claim that the police knocked on the doors to the hotel rooms during the Thursday afternoon raid, and arrested all couples found to be unmarried.
In spite of the fact that were lodged in private hotel rooms, the couples were charged with ‘indecent behaviour in public‘ and made to pay a fine of 1,200 rupees (£12).
A witness told Mid-Day.com:
The police first insulted all of us in front of all the officers and the other couples and then forced us to call our parents and insulted and disgraced us in front of them,”.They also made the parents feel guilty as if their children had committed some heinous crime.’
He also stated that they were taken to the police station around 05:00pm and many of them were allowed to go only by 10:00pm.
A number of angry Mumbai citizens took to Twitter to express their feelings, using the hashtag #MumbaiPolice.
