Worker steals ex-employer’s cheque book, withdraws N2.5m

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned one Victor Williams in a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for stealing N2.5 million from his former employer’s checkbook.

Victor was charged with faking Alhaji Moshood, his former boss, on the check and taking more than N2 million out of the account.

On Thursday, Williams appeared before Magistrate P. E. Nwaka and was charged with three counts of theft and forgery.

Thomas Nurudeen, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the act violated Sections 411 and 287(1) of the Lagos State Criminal Law and is punished by those provisions.

The charge read in part;

“That you, Victor Williams, in February 2023 did unlawfully withdraw N500, 000 from the account of your ex-employer, Adekunle Moshood, in the Magodo area of the state over the counter and had subsequently transferred N2m into your account without the consent of the original owner of the account and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.”

The allegations were read to the defendant in English, but he entered a plea of not guilty. Nwaka accepted the defendant’s plea and granted him bail in the amount of N500,000 with two dependable sureties in the same amount.

“Pastors don’t go into ministry for money, they do it for the purpose of the gospel” – MC Abbey clarifies

Nigerian comedian turned pastor, Abiodun Olapade, popularly known as MC Abbey has stated that pastors do not enter the ministry for financial gain.

The Master of Ceremonies made this claim, in an interview with The Punch,  asserting that those who become true clergy do so because they have been called by God to do so and in order to further the message of Jesus Christ.

According to him, he has been spending his own personal fund on the ministry.

In his words;

“Well, it is a wrong notion. People just generalize stuff. There is no iota of truth in that. A genuine man of God called by God is not in it for money.

He is in it for the purpose of the gospel. I have been the one spending my money in the ministry. We are also not looking for funds. I still go to my church, House on the Rock, and I have told my pastor that I am not leaving in a hurry.”

When asked why he entered the ministry, the comedian stated God had chosen his path but he had been there since 1985, long before he began performing stand-up.

MC Abbey said;

“It is God that chooses one’s path. I started ministry way back in 1985 before I started comedy. I was in primary school then. That was when I got born again and started a fellowship in my school.

When I got to secondary school, I was a fellowship head, up to the Anambra State University, Awka, where I pioneered the Word of Life Campus Fellowship and I became the first national president.

I have always led my life around church. When I left school, I thought I was going to go straight into ministry but I was told by God to hold on till the right time, which He would tell me. It was through God’s divine direction that I was ushered into anchoring events and comedy, which I did not find funny at that time because I was not interested.

That defining moment convinced me to do it and I thought it was going to be for some few years. Then, I was going to do ministry, but it (comedy and anchoring events) lingered for 30 something more years.

Every time I felt the nudge within me, I asked God what was happening and He kept telling me to hold on. There was a time I was in Lagos and I wanted to start my ministry and I prayed over it, but it seemed that God went on holidays in my head that day. I woke up the next day and asked everyone to forget about it.”

An on-air personality identified as Vee has expressed concern over the contaminated ingredients some restaurant owners use while preparing food for their customers.

In a series of tweets shared on the microblogging platform, Twitter, Vee disclosed that she went to a the store to blend tomatoes and pepper that she had purchased in bulk. but she was surprised to see a restaurant owner mixing rotting tomatoes and pepper to blend for sale.

She claimed that the shop owner had informed her that several restaurant owners had brought such items for her to blend.

She wrote;

“Bought tomatoes & pepper in bulk, stopped to grind them and I discovered something..

I can’t accuse all restaurant owners of doing same but apparently some of them buy all these rotten tomatoes, pepper & onions at ridiculously cheap prices. Then grind & mix with tin tomatoes

While I was there,a woman came with a bowl that has things that belonged to the dustbin

She instructed them to wash & grind

Immediately she left,the grinder kept saying
“una dey chop rubbish for restaurant sha”
“Na so them dey buy come keep for here”
“I no fit chop outside”

The other lady that was told to wash them, kept hissing and complaining in her native language

The remaining ones in the black bowl, was what she could salvage cos they were literally rotten

Nollywood actor, Gideon Okeke’s estranged wife, Chidera, has reacted to his recent post about single mothers who prevent their kids from seeing their fathers.

It was earlier reported that Gideon Okeke took to his Instastory to pen an open letter to women who deny their ex-husbands access to their kids after a divorce.

According to Gideon, who parted ways with his wife in October 2022 after four years of marriage, it was after his divorce that he realized that many women use their kids to punish their ex-husbands.

He wrote in part,

Nigerian music superstar, D’banj has caused a huge stir on social media following his recent performance with a female fan on stage.

D’Banj was performing his evergreen hit song ‘Give it to me’ at the concert when a fan with a big derriere joined him on stage to dance with him.

In a video making rounds online, the fan can be seen dancing seductively and throwing herself at the married musician, who reciprocated some of her advances.

At some point, the lady attempted to unbuckle his belt and pull down his trouser to seemingly expose his manhood but he stopped her before she could do so.

She, however, continued shaking her bum and whining her waist on the stage floor, while the singer continued his performance. Meanwhile, it is not clear where and when the incident took place.

The video has since generated a lot of reactions on social media, with many people condemning the woman’s actions and others questioning the appropriateness of D’banj’s response to the situation, considering his marital status.

A Nigerian man has narrated how his friend died from stroke after a terrible divorce that separated him from his kids.

@Yinkanubi took to Twitter to share the sad story on Monday, April 24, while mourning the demise of his friend.

He said the deceased worked very hard and continued to support his family even though he was denied access to his children.

Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke three years ago, which affected his movement and earnings, but there was no one to care for him.

@Yinkanubi said the man would always lament about his inability to see his family, even on his sick bed. Sadly, he recently passed away sad and alone.

“I was just informed of the death of a friend. His story is that of a man who slaved for his family, and kept giving even after a divorce forced him to be separated from his wife & kids. 3yrs ago he had a stroke which affected his mobility & earning capacity. Yet, he kept on going.

“He needed support round the clock and therapy too. But there was no family around to help. Sometimes in the evenings, I would sit with him to keep him company. He would agonize about his family and how even in his medical state, he is unable to have access to his children.

“He was an unhappy man and this brought about bouts of anger that made people avoid conversations with him. But I understood him and I was one of a few that could calm him down. He was a lonely man who needed the love and warmth of his family at his most vulnerable time.

“Now I am wondering if he ever got to reconnect with his kids before he died. I am also wondering what will happen to the properties he worked hard to acquire while he was alive. Life is brittle. Learn to value what is really important over what is ephemeral.

“Rest in peace my brother. I will cherish your friendship and our conversations. If the opportunity presents itself, I will share with your children how much you loved them and agonized over them. I will let them know their dad was a hard working man who Stroke couldn’t keep down.”

A Canadian actor, identified as Saint Von Colucci, has passed away at the young age of 22 after undergoing twelve cosmetic procedures to look like BTS singer Jimin.

Colucci died in the early hours of Sunday, April 23, at a South Korean hospital as a result of complications from his most recent surgery.

According to his publicist Eric Blake, Von Colucci, who moved to South Korea in 2019 to pursue a career in entertainment, went under the knife last Saturday to remove the jaw implants he had put in last November.

Following the procedure, Van Colucci developed a deadly infection and had to be intubated. Sadly, he gave up the ghost hours later.

“It’s very tragic and very unfortunate,” Blake said, adding that his client “didn’t like” his “very square jawline and chin,” as he “thought it was too wide.”

Von Colucci was born with dark blond hair and blue eyes. He was also 6 feet tall and weighed 182 pounds.

He reportedly spent $220,000 on 12 surgeries, including a facelift, a nose job, an eye lift, an eyebrow lift, and a lip reduction, among others.

“He was very insecure about his looks,” Blake explained, stating that his client was very “unhappy” with his face.

His publicist said he struggled to get a job in South Korea because of his western looks which was why he underwent surgery.

Blake said: “It was very hard from him to get a job in South Korea. and he felt very discriminated against [because of] his Western looks.”

According to Blake, Von Colucci starred in an eight-episode Korean drama series called “Pretty Lies” – natively titled “Cogimar” — as Jimin, the 27-year-old star of Grammy-nominated K-pop group BTS.

Blake said that the show, which was in production from June to December 2022, is set to air on a major United States streaming service in October.

“He was very, very excited and worked really hard,” Blake said.

A 35-year-old Christian adult actress, Courtney Tillia, has stated that her chosen occupation is her way of serving God.

The Liberian police have confirmed the arrest of Nicholas Jack Davies, the ex-boyfriend of Nigerian actress Empress Njamah, who was accused of blackmailing and leaking her intimate videos a few months ago.

The police chief, who spoke during a press conference in Liberia, revealed that Davies is a notorious scammer who targets wealthy women, enters into romantic relationships with them, and ultimately dupes them of their fortunes.

Recall that Nigerian actress Empress Njamah had accused Davies, who went by the name Josh Wade in Nigeria, of taking over her social media account, physically abusing her, and making intimate videos of her, which he used to blackmail her.

She claimed he came into her life disguised as a lover at a time she was vulnerable following the death of her best friend, Ada Ameh.

The police confirmed during the press conference that Davies carried out similar operations against other women who had come forward with complaints.

Davies was tracked down and arrested in Liberia after 20 Liberian women reported being duped and robbed of their valuables by him.

He was allegedly in the process of planning another scam against a victim when he was arrested. The police have called on other victims of Davies to come forward and report their complaints.

Enioluwa revealed in an Instagram video that he attended Davido’s Timeless concert in Lagos on Sunday, April 23, before flying to Botswana for a Forbes event the next morning. However, due to the stopovers, he would arrive in Botswana today, Tuesday.

To his surprise, when he arrived at his hotel and checked social media he discovered that Davido had landed in Botswana in his private jet and was already at the event.

According to Enioluwa, if he had known better, he would have asked to follow Davido in his private jet when they met at his Timeless concert in Lagos, saving him the stress and hassle of flying a commercial plane.

The content creator also emphasized the importance of being wealthy and owning a private jet, and advised his followers to have money.

Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has once again shown his generous side by donating money to a hair vendor whose shop was recently robbed.

The hair vendor had previously taken to social media to share the unfortunate incident. She shared a video of her empty shop, pleading with her customers amid tears to give her time to sort things out.

“Guys, everything; see, they cleared everything. But make yourself relax; I’m going to sort out everybody. Don’t fear. It’s me, bah. I will sort you guys out”, she said, fighting hard to hold back her tears.

Moved by her plight, Adekunle Gold reached out to her and offered to send her some money to help her get back on her feet.

The hair vendor could not hide her excitement and gratitude as she shared a video on her Instagram page, thanking the singer for his kind gesture.

In the video, the hair vendor and her family members were seen kneeling and appreciating Adekunle Gold for his assistance.

While the amount of money donated was unspecified, the hair vendor thanked Adekunle Gold immensely for the kind gesture.

Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama has taken to social media to offer prayers for May Edochie, who is laying her son, Kambilichukwu, to rest today.

A woman has taken to social media to lament bitterly after making what she thought was a sound financial decision that turned around to affect her negatively.

She claimed to have transferred all of her money and real estate to her brother, but the latter’s wife just filed for divorce and is seeking half of his properties.

The woman said in a letter to Ssalongo Ssali, a financial expert in Uganda, that she had been saving and buying properties without telling her husband.

She did that in case her husband tries to divorce her, unfortunately, her brothers’ wife who is aware that she fixed her assets in his name still wants half of the properties in the divorce settlement.

The distraught woman has asked for advise on what to do now that her sister-in-law with to kids wants to claim her properties through the divorce.

In her words;

“I am a married woman and a mother of 3 kids. My husband is financially well off. I am working at my professional job and he left me with full authority and freedom to manage my finances as i wish.

I have saved and by God’s grace, i have secretly accumulated a number of property including rentals, various plots of land, taxis for business etc. To be honest, i registered most of my property into my brother’s names with fear that in case my husband divorces me, i have all my property and i move on.

38-year-old Yobe lecturer and his wife die two days apart

A 38-year-old Nigerian man, Dr. Barde Luka Yelwa, and his wife Godiya have passed away two days apart.

Dr. Barde, a lecturer in the Biology Department at Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashua, Yobe State, died on Thursday, April 20, 2023, after suffering a heart attack in the hospital where he was taking care of his sick wife.

Two days after his death, on Saturday, April 22, his wife also passed away. The couple left behind two children, a 5-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy.

They will be laid to rest on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Dagare Village, 10 km along Bauchi-Jos Road.

Meanwhile, friends, family members, and colleagues have taken to social media to mourn the couple.

“We spoke just a few days ago after your Ph.D. accomplishment not knowing that it would be the last moment I would ever hear from you again,” One comrade Joeman Joseph wrote on Facebook.

In other news, a Kaduna-based woman, Karima Nuhu, has sued her husband, Musa Falalu, for allegedly failing to take her to Saudi Arabia.

The 45-year-old sued her husband at a Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna, on Tuesday, April 18.

Karima Nuhu told the court that she had been married to Falalu for four years, during which he provided her with food for only two months.

“He told me that he lost his job as a driver but had secured another one in Saudi Arabia, urging me to be patient while promising to take me along. So far, I have been the one feeding myself. I even borrowed money including my savings for him so that he would be able to pay for the trip, but after getting what he wanted, he divorced me,” she said.

When asked if she had any witnesses to present in court, she replied that she had none except God, who would judge them on the last day.

The defendant, however, denied the allegations as he revealed that he had divorced the complainant.

The presiding judge, Malam Anass Khalifa, who confirmed the divorce between the couple, said the court would only listen to the complainant’s claims if she had witnesses.
