Nigerian comedian, Julius Agwu, has weighed in on the ongoing feud between his colleagues AY and Basketmouth.
AY and Basketmouth, who are big names in the Nigerian entertainment industry, have been in the news lately due to their year-long beef, after AY revealed that it was over a N30,000 gig.
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, AY alleged that his issue with Basketmouth started in 2006 after he refused to pay him an agreed N30,000 for standing in for him at an event.
Basketmouth, on the other hand, denied ever being friends with AY and stated that most of the claims made by AY during his interview with Chude Jideonwo were lies.
Julius Agwu, when asked to speak on the beef between the two comedians during a recent interview with Naija FM, said he believes there’s more to it than the N30,000.
Speaking on his relationship with Ay, Julius Agwu recalled putting a call through to him, asking him to reschedule his yearly Easter sunday comedy show that equally falls on the same day with his.
He claimed AY refused and hung the phone on him.
“There’s more to it, na we dey back stage we no go fit know…I called AY, he cut phone for my neck”. He said in part.
Popular Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has recounted his surprising experience with his colleague, Basketmouth.
Recall that the duo have been at odds for years and AY recently revealed that it was over a N30,000 gig. He also said he went to Basketmouth’s wedding with his wife but was turned away.
Following his revelation, Basketmouth, in an interview on The HonestBunch podcast, maintained that he was never friends with AY and has never picked up his phone to call him.
Well, AY, in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, recalled receiving a call from Basketmouth amid their feud.
AY explained that he had purchased a car for his wife at the time and shared it online and days later, Basketmouth shared a post condemning showing off on social media.
As expected, people assumed Basketmouth was throwing shade at AY, and trooped to the comment section to make their speculations known.
Shockinly, AY said Basketmouth called him to explain that he was not referring to him in his post, and he was very happy about the call.
AY said:
“Something happened that never happened in the history of my knowing Bright Okpocha. Bright Okpocha would not bring himself on the level to apologise to you on anything.
“So, there was a post he made, about people showing off cars, people who just go online and show off stuff when they buy stuff and everything.
“Incidentally, I posted a ride I got my wife two days to that tweet, so people went on his page and were like, ‘Oh, this must be referring to AY’ and for the first time, Bright Okpocha, he carried his phone and called me. If you see how happy I was. Like he called me practically like, ‘guy, see wetin I dey hear o, people are relating what I posted to you, it has nothing to do with you.’
“I was very appreciative of the fact that the Master called, which is very rare, he will never stoop that low.
‘So, that the Master called, I was happy. My belief was that, that is now going to form the balance that I’ve been craving for us to have.”
However, AY said when he returned to Nigeria and tried to maintain that cordial relationship with Basketmouth, he was snubbed.
He said: “So, when I came back to Nigeria, he was having a show, I called him, ‘ah this your show that you’re having, incidentally, it’s the same day I’m doing Port Harcourt but we could do like a skit idea and all that’. All the voice note, everything is still in my phone.”
AY said he told Basketmouth: “Let’s do it this way, this way.”
He said Basketmouth replied: “Ya, I’ll think about it and then we’ll see how we’ll run it.”
On why he reached out to Basketmouth, Ay said: “Because, the Servant was still willing to serve the Master, But guess what? Long story short, e no reach two to three weeks Master just waka pass me for event.”
AY said Basketmouth’s beef with him has also extended to people affiliated with him as Basketmouth automatically cancels anyone who has anything to do with him.

Popular Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako, has revealed why she chose to stay in an abusive marriage with her first husband, Tunde Sobowale.
Foluke, who was married to him for three years, stated in an interview with TVC that she saw clear signs that he was abusive on their wedding night.
According to her, she was subjected to domestic violence by her husband but did not end the marriage immediately because she was afraid of public criticism.
She said she was scared of what people would say if she had filed for a divorce after only a few months of marriage.
She said when she eventually left the marriage in 2008, some people still insulted her without knowing what she had gone through at the hands of her spouse.
The 45-year-old thespian, who has since remarried her second husband, Kayode Salako, said,
“My first marriage, on the night of my wedding was when I noticed abuse. But because of what people will say… And God has already orchestrated it because my wonderful kids are from the marriage.
“When I finally decided to step out [of the marriage], people did not understand why I stepped out. But I understood that I needed to go. A lot of people did not receive it well, but if I hadn’t stepped out, if I had died there, by now I would have been a forgotten case.
“So, it is better for people not to accept my reality or my truth but I accept my own truth than for me to lose my life in the process of trying to prove to the world what I’m going through.”
Nollywood actress, Ruby Orjiakor has received heavy criticism for her recent display of generosity at a recent event.
The thespian, who is known for her philanthropic gestures and shares videos of herself giving out food items to the less privileged, attended her friend’s traditional wedding over the weekend, and decided to give back in her usual fashion.
However, this time, she took to the street to throw naira notes on the ground while children trailed behind her and scurried to pick them up.
In a video shared online, Ruby is seen walking gallantly as she tossed money at the children, while saying “The Time Has Come” repeatedly.
She continued till she got to the wedding venue and started spraying money on her friend and her groom.
The movie star captioned it,
“Watch how I stopped my friend’s “Traditional Marriage” yesterday.💃💃💃💃🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only one “SHOW STOPPER” worldwide 🙌🙌🙌
NO RUBY” NO SHOW”…🙌🙌🙌🙌 Life of the party”🤣🤣🤣💃💃💃💃”

The video has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with the majority expressing disappointment in her for tossing money at the kids instead of giving them in an orderly manner.
According to the critics, she should have assembled the kids and given them the money in their hands, rather than treating them like beggars.
However, some others opined that there was nothing wrong in her action and the kids clearly enjoyed picking the money.

It was earlier reported that Nedu took to social media to say that ‘marriage is dead’ and that women have now turned it into a poverty alleviation scheme.
