A video shared online shows the heartwarming moment Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan, did the ‘Buga‘ dance shortly after breaking the world record at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon.

Tobi who clinched gold at the women’s 100-meter hurdles race in the early hours of Monday, July 25, was beaming with joy after emerging winner of the tournament and was celebrating her victory on the track when a Caucasian man in the spectator stand started singing Kizz Daniel’s hit song, Buga, and shouted Tobi’s name repeatedly.

The song caught Tobi’s attention and she stopped immediately to dance happily and flex her shoulders as meant by the song title ‘Buga’.

Primary school pupils protest lingering ASUU strike (video)

Pupils of a private primary school in Osun state on Monday, July 25 staged a protest calling for the end of the over five-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU).

The little ones stormed the entrance of the Obafemi Awolowo University campus in Ile-Ife with placards in the company of some grown-ups demanding an end to the lingering strike.

The pupils carried different placards which read, “Don’t borrow our future away,” “I am the future ASUU, make no mistake about it,” “I am the future ASUU.” Don’t forget”.

A woman who terminated her pregnancy some months ago has recently discovered that she’s still very much pregnant and expected to welcome a baby in a few weeks.

The woman, identified as @BubblesNgwenya, took to Twitter to reveal that in January 2022 she went to a hospital to get an abortion when she found out she was pregnant and was given abortion pills to terminate the pregnancy.

After the ‘abortion’, she said she was getting her monthly cycle regularly and didn’t see any need to return to the hospital to confirm if the abortion was successful, until recently when she started feeling something kicking in her belly, which she assumed was gas.

When she went to see a doctor on July 23, 2022, she was told that she’s presently 8 months pregnant and her estimated due date is August 7.

Her revelation has sparked different reactions on social media with netizens wanting to know more about the ‘miracle’ baby who survived the termination attempt.

One Twitter user asked if it’s possible she was carrying twins and only one was aborted in January, but the lady said it’s just one baby.

Popular media personality, Latasha Ngwube, has reacted to a video of dancer Korra Obidi vowing never to put her relationship online again.

The mother of two, whose four-year marriage to American doctor Justin Dean recently hit rock bottom, vowed never to flaunt her relationship online again while recounting the role of netizens in her marriage crash.

In a viral video, Korra admits that flaunting her relationship online contributed to their messy split.

A lady has lamented bitterly after kidnappers who abducted her cousin refused to release him despite collecting ransom from their family.

@KhabeerYusrah took to Twitter to reveal that her cousin was kidnapped four days ago and his abductors called their family to demand for a ransom to secure his release.

She said they agreed to the kidnapper’s terms and went to the provided location to hand over the ransom but the kidnappers zoomed off after collecting the money and didn’t release her cousin.

According to her, it’s been hours since the kidnappers collected the ransom yet they have not called to disclose where her cousin is.

The supposedly heartbroken lady took to her social media page to share a video where she revealed that her boyfriend dumped her to get married to her mother.

According to the lady, she at first had to wait three years for her boyfriend to return back to Nigeria from overseas so he could propose marriage to her and they start their long-lasting union.

But a twist came when the said boyfriend retuned to the country and found love in the lady’s mother instead. She shared that her mother agreed to his marriage proposal and they got married behind her back.

She shared how they both left Nigeria afterwards and 8 months later, her mum was already 3 months pregnant. The boyfriend then returned two years later and asked the lady whether she is interested in becoming his second wife.

Suspected bandit kingpin honoured with chieftaincy in Zamfara says he didn’t ask for the title

The suspected terrorist, Ado Aleru, who was recently turbaned as Sarkin Fulani in Zamfara state, has maintained that he did not ask to be given the title.

The suspected bandit kingpin was turbaned as the Sarkin Fulani on July 16 by Aliyu Marafa, Emir of Yandoto, in Tsafe LGA of the state, after the police placed Aleru on its wanted list over his alleged involvement in banditry.

Public uproar over Aleru’s coronation led the state government to suspend Marafa, who had conferred the title on Aleru, who is wanted in neighboring Katsina State for mass killings.

The Governor of Zamafara state, Matawalle, also banned traditional rulers in the state from awarding chieftaincy titles without getting government approval.

However, speaking on the reactions that trailed his coronation, Aleru, in an interview published by DW Hausa on Sunday, July 24, said he did not ask for the title, adding that it was the emir that approached him.

“This title, let me tell you the truth, I didn’t ask for it; they reached out to me regarding it. They called and informed me of what they wanted to give me. Then, I said ‘no, this shouldn’t happen’. But since I have parents, later we sat down and discussed about it, and since the new king has said what he wants to do in his kingdom, I accepted the title.” He said.

The Katsina government had placed a bounty of N5 million on information leading to the arrest of Mr. Aleru, who is accused of killing 52 people in Kadisau, a community in Faskari Local Government in 2019.

Aleru, on his part, denied taking part in the Kadisau village attack linked to him.

In his words,

“The talks about Kadisau, please, I beg you in the name of God to ask the Emir of Kadisau or look for his number and ask him the cause of the attack.”

Big Brother Naija show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, has cleared the air on a trending video that started the narrative that one of the season 7 housemates, Groovy, has bad breath.

It would be recalled that a viral video which showed Ebuka holding his nose when Groovy screamed at his face during his unveiling as one of the housemates for the new season stirred reactions online, with many social media users suggesting that Ebuka was wading off bad breath from Groovy.

One of the abducted passengers of the ill-fated Kaduna train who spoke in a new video released by the terrorists has been identified as a lawyer named Hassan Usman.

It would be recalled that on March 28, 2022, terrorists said to be Boko Haram members attacked the Kaduna-bound train, killed some passengers and abducted others, while some lucky passengers were left unscathed.

In a new development, the terrorists have released a heart-wrenching video showing the abducted passengers being flogged with sticks while they wailed and begged for mercy.

In the video, one of the passengers who spoke on behalf of the other passengers, complained bitterly about the Federal Government’s failure to secure their release.

He also called for the help of foreign countries and international bodies to come to their rescue since the Nigerian Government have failed them.

His words,

“I am one of those involved in the train mishap. That train belonged to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Government has the responsibility to rescue us, but has failed,” Usman said.

“We called on our relations who were willing to rescue us but the Nigerian government due to being insensitive to our plight did not allow our relations to rescue us.

“This is why we are calling on the big nations of the world such as England, America, France and the remaining international community, the likes of Saudi Arabia, to intervene in this matter with a view to finding a solution

“Truly, these people ( terrorists), their intention was not for us to even spend one week in captivity. They wanted their demands to be met so that they release us. But Nigeria showed no concern over this matter, showing no care.

“We are therefore calling on these big nations of the world, France, Saudi Arabia,England and America, the international community, ECOWAS, AU, they should please help and intervene in this matter. They should come and help us so that a solution could be reached that will enable us reunite with our families,” he added.

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has teased his followers that he will ultimately open up on the recent happenings in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that led to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party and Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as vice presidential candidate.

Man gets shot at after allegedly crushing policeman with his car in Enugu (Video)

Officers of the Enugu State Police Command have shot a motorist, Christian Ogwuike, after he allegedly crushed a policeman at a checkpoint.

Reports have it that Ogwuike was with his fiancée in a Lexus SUV on Thursday, July 21, 2022, when they met some policemen at the Monkey Roundabout close to the Zonal Office of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission.

According to a source, who claims to have been an eyewitness, told Punch the police shot the motorist because he refused to give them bribe.

He is quoted as saying,

“When he stopped, one of the policemen, who were six at the time, asked him to clear from the road and come down. I don’t know what transpired again, but I saw when they started shouting. I overheard the guy saying he won’t give them N5,000.

“The next thing I saw was when the policemen dragged the guy out of his car and shot him pointblank. They also demobilised his car and took him away.”

A video of the incident went viral online. In the video, the policemen are seen carrying the victim into a vehicle.

Reacting to the incident on Sunday, July 24, the Enugu State Police Command confirmed the shooting, but said Ogwunike knocked down an officer.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, said,

“On July 21, 2022, around 2pm, a team of police operatives serving in No. 3 PMF Enugu, while on routine stop and search duty at the EFCC Roundabout, Independence Layout, flagged down the driver of a Lexus saloon car.

“The driver, rather than stop, recklessly zoomed off, knocking down one of the operatives and pulling him along to a distance of about four poles, before he was forced to stop by other members of the team, who immediately went after him.

“In the bid to restrain the driver from further escape, one of the operatives fired a knee-level shot, which got him (driver) in the thigh.

“The policeman, Inspector Aneka Ndayi, who sustained severe bodily injuries, and the said driver, Ogwuike Christian, were both moved to a hospital and are responding to treatment and in a stable condition.”

He said the Enugu state Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal, had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to thoroughly investigate the incident and come up with actionable findings.

“Test your domestic staff for HIV, TB, Hepatitis and others” – Bashir El-Rufai’s wife advises mothers

Halima Nwakaego, the daughter-in-law of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state, has advised mothers to test their domestic staff for HIV, TB, Hepatitis and other diseases.

The mom of twin boys who got married to Bashir El-Rufai in November 2020, took to her Instastory to give this advise on Sunday, July 24, after a nanny she recently hired tested positive for an undisclosed disease.

According to Halima, the nanny knew about her status but didn’t deem it fit to mention it until the test was conducted then she admitted that she has had the disease for seven good years.

Addressing mothers who plan to hire domestic staff, Halima wrote,

“Good morning mamas, please test all your nannies and workers. Most especially if you have babies. Run these tests HIV, Hep, TB, and many other. We recently got a nanny that knew she had one of these diseases and didn’t disclose it to us. We tested her, came back positive and she was pretending like she didn’t know she had it

After pressing on the matter she finally admitted that she’s had it for 7 years. Btw this isn’t the first nanny we are getting like this. So please run these tests before hiring anyone. Be safe.”

Tobi Amusan becomes first Nigerian to ever win gold as she breaks 100m hurdles world record (video)

It was a giant feat for Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan at the World Championships as she becomes the first Nigerian to ever win gold in the women’s 100m hurdles.

In the competition held in Eugene, Oregon, in the early hours of Monday, July 25, Amusan also broke the world record in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m hurdles.

She initially caught the attention of people after running an incredible 12.40 seconds in the first round of the game on Saturday (Sunday morning in Nigeria).

Amusan then took it a step further by running an unbelievable 12.12 seconds in the semifinals, thus emerging the winner of that round.

She was also the only Nigerian female 100m hurdles runner to make the penultimate round of the competition.

Amusan then smashed her own record again in the finale by running 12.06 seconds but it was later ruled ineligible as the wind speed exceeded the legal limit.

In other news, Nigeria also won her first gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, thanks to powerlifter, Latifat Tijani.

Latifat came top place in the women’s 45kg powerlifting on Thursday, August 26, after defeating China’s Zhe Cui to lift 107kg.

She was a gold medalist at the Brazzaville 2015 Africa Games and silver medalist at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

A viral video of a wife tackling her sisters-in-law for not helping with house chores has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media.

In the trending clip, her husband’s sisters, three of them, were on their phones in the sitting room as she frantically scrambled to prepare dinner for the family after just getting back from the market.

At some point, she apparently couldn’t take them lazing around while she did all the work, so she confronted them and captured the moment on tape.

Confronting them, she noted that they never help with the house chores, as all they do is eat, relax, and be on their phones while they leave her to do all the work alone.

One of the ladies, who was visibly not having it, told the ranting wife that she’s in her husband’s house and it’s her duty to do the house chores without any help from them.

“See them, dem dey here they press phone, upon say I don go market come back, look at them, people that will get married tomorrow. When I talk they will say I’m a bad person. Big girls they cant cook, they will leave everything for me, they want to kill me with work in this house”. she said in part.

A popular New-York based Nigerian clothier and model, Tommy Olawale a.k.a Tommy DNC, has passed away.

Tommy reportedly drowned at sea few hours after posting a video of himself chilling on a boat with his friends on Saturday, July 23.

Hours before his sudden death, Tommy had also taken to his Instastory to share a video of himself showing off his new stylish haircut.

Tommy’s death has sent a shockwave amongst his friends including singer Davido and actor Yomi Gold who have now taken to the comment section of his last post to express shock at his death.

May his soul rest in peace!

The police officers were on routine patrol on the 3rd Mainland bridge when they spotted the young man sitting on the railing. The officers talked sense into the man and they were able to prevent what could have been a tragic loss of life.

13-year-old boy drowns in Lagos hotel swimming pool

The family of a 13-year-old boy, simply identified as Ebubechukwu, has been thrown into mourning after he drowned in a hotel’s swimming pool in Lagos.

According to reports, the teenager was returning home from school with some of his friends when they entered an abandoned hotel to have a swim.

It was said that since it was an abandoned facility, there were no lifeguards or staffers except for a security man at the entrance.

It was gathered that the security man usually charged tokens from intending users of the pool and ensured it was kept clean for them. Unfortunately, after the teenager drowned, the security man fled the scene and is currently at large.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the incident was reported at the Ago Police Station around 3:30pm on Friday, July 22.

He added that the information available to the command showed it was an abandoned hotel property.

This comes after a family’s three children drowned in a communal pool at their estate in Ajah on Sunday, June 12.

Punch reports that the couple had gone to an event when the three children left their house to swim in the pool.

According to an eyewitness, an alarm was raised after the three children were found motionless in the pool. They were immediately removed from the pool and rushed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.
