“My husband wants to kill me” – Nigerian woman cries out for help over alleged domestic violence

A Nigerian woman, Efe Okoto Oruambo, has taken to Facebook to cry out for help after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband.

Efe, who’s based in Port Harcourt with her husband, shared photos of her bruised back showing what looked like teeth bite marks in a Christian Facebook group and claimed that her husband had been physically and emotionally abusing her.

The mother of three noted that she’s been enduring torture in her marriage because of her children.

Speaking on how she got the marks on her back, she alleged that her husband beat her to a pulp and threatened that he was going to kill her after he came home drunk.

“I’m being abused emotionally, physically, and otherwise… I’ve escaped death on several occasions in my marriage. I’ve endured it all for the sake of my three cute children. I’ve just been hit by the last straw. I’ll rather be alive and single than die in this marriage.

“I need help. I don’t know where to run to nor who to turn to. I’m based in Port Harcourt. I don’t know any domestic violence office to get help from. This is what I received about an hour ago. He, my husband, Victor Oruambo came home late, drunk and high and meant to kill me and go to prison tonight. God saved me. I need help… I can no longer keep suffering this way… I need help… Please help me”, she wrote.

The boss, identified as @humblecute on Twitter, took to the micro-blogging platform to disclose that he sent his three workers home for being over an hour late to work.

According to him, heavy downpour is not a strong enough reason for them to come late to work as his company has a strong policy on punctuality.

“I sent 3 of my workers back home today..their excuse was ‘Rainfall’ I didn’t listen to them coz that wasn’t enough excuse for me + they already know the rules of the company.

They were 1hr 15 minutes late.. our company has a strict policy on Punctuality!” the employer wrote.

A lot of people were infuriated by his tweet and they dragged him to filth for being inconsiderate to his employers, while advising him to get a staff bus to be conveying his employees to work daily so as to prevent lateness.

Some netizens also dug up an old tweet he made in 2016 where he said he wasn’t going to resume early for work because of rain, and labelled him a hypocrite.

“This is how many homes are destroyed” – Reno Omokri advises newly weds against bringing family members into their homes

Nigerian human rights activist and writer, Reno Omokri, has advised newly married couples against bringing their family members into their homes to live with them.

The former presidential aide opined that newlyweds may not be able to strengthen their bonds when they bring relatives to live with them.

According to him, this is a common error made by newlyweds that ends up ruining their marriages.

“Dear couples,
After your wedding, note that you need time to strengthen your marriage Union. If you bring in relatives to live with you, you may not be able to strengthen your bond. You need a house that is so free that both of you can chase each other naked around it, like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

This is how many homes are destroyed. Two imperfect people marry. Out of foolishness, they allow in-laws live with them from the get-go. The in-laws note the imperfection of the spouse not related to them, and inform their extended family, and just like that, your marital issues are extended and become family issues!” He wrote on Instagram.

A while ago, Reno advised single men against giving their girlfriends money.

Reno who is popular for his nuggets on social media noted that it’s not a boyfriend’s duty to take up his girlfriend’s financial responsibilities but her father’s duty.

According to him, it’s unwise for a man to allow himself be pressured into financing a woman he’s not married to only because he’s an amorous relationship with her.

Man slits throat of his girlfriend’s 8-year-old daughter in South Africa

A 31-year-old man, Sipho Tony Nkosi, is currently facing trial after slitting the throat of his girlfriend’s 8-year-old daughter.

It’s said that Nkosi and the minor’s mum, who were in a romantic relationship, had an argument while attending a funeral recently. He, however, visited her house the next day in an attempt to work things out.

He met the 8-year-old in the house with her grandmother, and the mother, Nkosi, had gone to a car wash.

Nkosi allegedly took a butcher’s knife from the kitchen and slit the child’s throat.

Neighbors came to the 8-year-old’s rescue when they heard loud screaming from the home. She was rushed to Mamelodi Hospital, where she’s currently receiving treatment.

“It is alleged that on April 24, the couple had gone to a funeral where an argument broke out between them. The following day, while the mother had gone to a nearby car wash, the accused went to a house where she stayed to try to work things out.” The police said.

The accused was arrested after he handed himself over at the Hammanskraal police station.

Yesterday, members of the community, the lobby group, Not In My Name, and other organizations gathered outside the court to express their indignation.

According to the child’s father, the attack occurred while his daughter was visiting her grandmother at Mamelodi East’s Khutsong extension.

The father said his daughter and her younger sister lived with their mother and the accused in Montana.

He said the accused and the mother had an argument when the mother asked the man to leave. He reportedly refused.

“He then resorted to slitting my daughter’s throat in retaliation towards the mother. He went into the grandparents’ house and took a knife from the kitchen and slit my child’s throat execution-style. Her mother then called the police when she returned, finding our daughter’s throat was slit,” he said.

The father said the daughter was admitted to the hospital and was now in ICU. “She was stabilised in Mamelodi hospital and transferred to Pretoria East hospital.” he added.

He vowed that he would do everything in his power to make sure Nkosi was denied bail.

“I would like to thank the community and the organisations that came to support us. We hear that there are many cases against him, and the police are investigating those cases. I am happy that the police finally arrested him, as they have been looking for him since 2019 for a gender-based violence case against him. It seems that this is what he likes to do against women and children.” He said.

Themba Masango, of Not In My Name, addressed the crowd outside court, and said that when a child was victimised it affected everyone.

“We must stand together as the community of Mamelodi to make sure that we get rid of these animals on our streets,” he said.

During the time of Genevieve Nnaji, Aunty Omotola, Rita Dominic, sister Kate, sister Ini Edo just to mention but a few, #nollywood was RESPECTED all over the #world because of the standard and meritocracy of our movies, but with the influx of the so called NEW nollywood actresses, mediocrity is now the order of the day, it is like they pack the whole Allen Avenue and Pekas ambassadors into our industry, the way dem dey look for wealthy #MARRIED men with the speed of light is preposterously worrisome to say the least, we use better #technology and spend bigger financially on movies but the quality of acting and professionalism has dropped drastically.

“I was earning 60,000 naira salary when it occurred to me that I needed to build a house” – Pastor Gbenga Samuel shares testimony.

A Popular Nigerian Pastor has taken to micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to share a personal testimony of how he was able to build his house even though he was just on a 60,000 Naira salary.

According to Pastor Gbena Samuel Wemimo, he had a vision in which he encountered the “Way Maker” and he took a leap of faith with the house project.. today the rest is history.

Read his story below ;

I was earning 60,000 naira salary when it occurred to me that I needed to build a house.

The money was so small that I usually don’t have anything left by the second week after I got paid.
My wife was earning way more than I was earning, and we had a working formular regarding our finances, She handles the capital projects and I handled the daily expenditures
That way issues like rent, car repair, school fees for the children and her own M.Sc etc were taken care of by her

She helped me out with my own end of things on many occasions.

The only month I found myself able to handle everything before me was when I get my leave bonus or when we got our 13th month pay in December.

I was working with a ministry as the PA to a pastor at this time One night I had a vision, I saw a gathering of people in party attire they were waiting for someone to arrive, they were waiting for the main speaker –

Suddenly this person arrived wearing a traditional attire and shinning like the noon day sun, Everybody stood up and they started shouting “Olulana, Olunana, Olulana” meaning “Way Maker”
He smiled and laid hands on the people He began to heal them according to their diseases. I was watching this from afar, Eventually he reached out to the waiting mother’s and prayed for them.

The sight was a beauty to behold I woke up from the vision, I started saying over and over “I HAVE MET the Waymaker. HE HAD MADE A WAY FOR ME”.

Then I told my wife in faith, let us go house shopping.

She said okay
We drove to RCCG Camp

I had been told they had many chalets for sale, i wanted to see if somehow the vision I saw will birth an instant miracle, i really needed one at that time.

We were taken around.. We saw chalets for 7 million and for 5 million

Three and two bedroom respectively- My wife liked one and said perhaps she could take some money from cooperative at her office to add to her savings to buy it
I thought to myself, the step of faith we took is paying off.

We got back to the main road, I met one of my colleagues from the office. He went to fetch water and was carrying two 25 liter kegs
He stopped to greet us, I asked him if the chalets don’t have running water, He said they do but the plumbing of his own chalet is bad I told him we wanted to buy a chalet.

He said it was a terrible idea!

“Why don’t you get land and build?” He asked

I thought in my head “Where do I get the money?

My Wife was nodding and that means the cooperative idea was being drowned by this guy
Chai!

We bade hi. Farewell and Went home

On the way, my wife said “I’d prefer to build”

I said “Hmmm”
The next day I went to get the form for a plot of land and got it signed

The land was approved three months later

I got the letter and it was just in time for my 13th month whatever I was invited to a wedding A sister called me to ask where I was, I told her I was at a wedding at Berger area of Lagos
She called an hour later asking me to come out of the wedding venue, I met her and her husband.

She told me her husband is a civil engineer, a builder but business has been very poor lately She asked me to pray with him I did.

I then told him I have a land I want to build, He said where, I told him.

The next day he was at my house He said he was ready to start building I had just 100,000 naira.

He said it will be enough for clearing and to buy some pegging materials I sent the money to him
He left And God took over

Everyday, he would send me bills and I was able to clear them off

My wife didn’t take a loan as we planned

We did foundation and I said “I am broke”

The builder said “I will continue building, you can pay me later”

He continued I continued making my declarations and money continued to flow in daily.

In eight months the house was completed

I didn’t even tell my wife what was going on

In April 2020, during the lockdown I took my wife to the house for the first time

She was shocked

She said “You did all this without my knowledge or support?

I nodded

I really wanted to see how far my faith can be stretched without asking for help and I was shocked that my faith completed the house and furnished it to taste
I left my previous flat with only the members of my family

We didn’t take a pin out of the house because we needed nothing we had in the past The waymaker completed the work.

I couldn’t have achieved it without the power of the vision I saw, I was so convinced it was a message from God that I ought to act upon
Blessed be the name of the Lord, he opened My heart to the insight and depth of his secrets of divine supply I have walked in this over and over again and the same result was produced
I learnt to master what could have been chance and today I apply the same principle to all the projects we are doing for the Kingdom.

The Word works always
The Word of God works for me
The Word of God works in me
When I declare nature and elements of life pay heed and surrender their supplies unto me
I am the blessed of the Lord
