Man recounts how he was almost killed for blasphemy in JSS 2 in Sokoto state but was saved by his school’s Vice Principal

Man recounts

A man has taken to Twitter to recount how he was almost killed for blasphemy in JSS 2 but was fortunately saved by his school’s Vice President.

This comes in the wake of the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student of a College of Education in Sokoto state, over blasphemy on Thursday, May 12.

Taking to the microblogging platform, @ChinonsoOK shared his personal experience in 2007 and disclosed that he would have been killed if he had not been smuggled out of the school by his Vice Principal.

He tweeted,

“I refuse to comment or even read posts from that carnage that happened in Sokoto. The PTSD I have from my own experience in that same Sokoto is still fresh. My classmates in JSS2!!! were going to behead me if the Muslim vice principal had not smuggled me out of the school. 2007.

I had never been that scared in my life. People who I thought were my friends bayed for blood. How dare I? An infidel blaspheme? I was 13, the boys trying to kill me were around the same age. Yes! 13, 14, 15 year-olds. The VP hid me in his office and tried to calm them down.

To no avail. Before long, word had got out of the school that an “infidel blasphemed” and a mob gathered outside the school walls vowing to burn down the school if I wasn’t handed over. Thank goodness for the bravery of that VP. He smuggled me out asked me never to return.”

Twitter user shares how a father was killed by mob who wrongly accused him of attempting to abduct his crying child

A Twitter user has narrated how a Nigerian man was killed by a mob after he was wrongly accused of trying to abduct his own child.

According to the Twitter user identified as Barade, the man was gruesomely murdered by a mob in the presence of his children.

Giving details of the tragic incident, Barade said the man was at a mosque to pray with two of his children when one of the children began to cry because he wanted his father to buy him a sweet.

Barade said that suddenly someone shouted that he was about to steal the children, and he was immediately mobbed and killed.

In a series of Twitter threads, Barade wrote,

“About 30yrs ago, a family friend went for Jumu’ah prayers with his 2 little children. Unfortunately it was a period when there were cases of missing children, and it happened that after prayers the little one was crying bcos he wanted the father to buy some sweets for him.

All of a sudden someone shouted that he was trying to steal a child, his own child. The crowd, that turned into a mob pounced on him and killed him right in front of his two kids. We were able to trace about 14 suspects. All of them only had the shout of “barawon yara” and joined the mob that killed him.

We were left with orphans, even though the suspects were convicted. The second case, I personally witnessed, was a period in Lagos when people were accused of stealing manhood, which claimed literarily disappeared from the body”.

They had a friend toss the coin for them, the friend who officiated the process tossed the coin in the air and caught it on the back of his hand with the groom, Colin, winning the toss.

They were then announced as Mr and Mrs Hansen.

A guest at the wedding who shared the clip on TikTok described it as her “favourite new wedding tradition”.

I asked him why he never asked when they were dating, he said he didn’t think she’d be one.

Now a one month wedding has been dissolved just like that.

See ehn asking your partner some questions before marriage is very important o.

Lol. A full breed marrying an outcast has consequences, it’s not about new generation or old generation. It is what it is.

No matter how we package it. Even though it’s been nullified, it’ll be very difficult to let go. I didn’t make the rules, so don’t come here to insult me.

No one discriminates anyone. They can vibe, but can’t marry. That’s all.

When y’all are done crying here, take an osu to your people for marriage, come back and tell us the outcome.”

He then referenced the Fulani Islami cleric who saved 262 Christians in June 2018 in Plateau State, by hiding them in his mosque.

Sharing a photo of the cleric, Reno wrote,

“All of you saying Northern Muslims are bad and barbaric have forgotten that a Northern Fulani Muslim, Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, saved the lives of hundreds of Christians on June 23, 2018. There are good and bad people in every religion. Face the culprits, not their region or religion!

Deborah’s murder over alleged blasphemy is condemnable. However, do not get carried away. Mind your utterances. Let us blame the perpetrators, not Muslims and Northerners.”
