“Entered with 6 legs and graduated with 2 legs” – Nigerian lady, who has sickle cell shares inspiring story as she graduates with 1st class (Photos)

The quite inspiring story of a Nigerian lady who had challenges when she matriculated but gracefully convoked years later, was shared online and netizens are being awed by the heartfelt story.

Joy @Joy_fro on Twitter took to the platform to share the quite tear-jerking story of the woes she had to endure just before she could become a graduate of the University of Lagos.

According to her, she got admitted into the varsity with Sickle Cell complications and life had not been easy but gracefully, she’s part of the graduating students of UNILAG for the past session and her testimony is one that’s heartfelt.

Here’s what she wrote,

Entering Unilag with 6 Legs and Graduating with my 2 Legs will forever be a Testimony to me and my family….

I got admission into Unilag when I had a Sickle Cell complication- Avascular Necrosis of the hipbone. My doctors said I could never walk on my own until I have a hip replacement surgery on both hips. Hence they moved me from using crutches to using a walking frame.

Throughout my 100level, I would walk to class and lab practicals with the walking frame, in pain and in shame. I can’t even take a cab because the frame was heavy and the cab men dint have the patience to wait for the process of folding it… etc

It took a toll on me socially, mentally and physically. Other students would stare at me on the road. Some got close to offer help, and even became friends in the long run. Some just stared and walked past.

It was a struggle. Battling with sickle cell and having to study in Unilag was an extreme sport. The constant stress had a huge effect on my health. It was so bad that I had to change my course of study in my second year to a less stressful one

I have been in and out of the hospitals so many times for sickle cell crisis. Unilag medical center was almost like my second home at some point. The pain just springs up from nowhere and there were times I had to be rushed at midnight from the hostel to the medical center

I remember writing my 100level exams on the hospital bed! Heck I wrote almost every exam at the hospital. Writing lab reports and doing my assignments there sometimes too. I made up my made up my mind to stop using crotches even if it will take me to limp and feel the pain

I am thankful for a few of friends and most importantly, my MOM and sisters, who constantly remind me to take care of myself, take my drugs, drink plenty of water, avoid stress and cold. Lol. People always wondered why I carried big handbags everywhere.

I couldn’t go anywhere without at least two bottles of water, a jacket and socks. The scars on my body are as a result of allergic reactions to an injection they give me during pain crisis. Imagine having to choose between having a flawless skin or being relieved of pain

I am most grateful to almighty God for seeing me through my degree. It could only be him. In all of these, i graduated from the University of Lagos with a FIRST CLASS DEGREE.

Abeg Companies, Brands and Multinationals I don’t want to queue oh… I’ve suffered already using those days at the Hospital to even learn Graphics Design. I’ve glowed up and can represent your company and it’s core values.

I also took a course in Health Safety and Environment. Yes I am an HSE officer Flexed biceps. Super young and full of life. And I’m open to any scholarship programs if there are recommendations. If I don’t announce my virtual CV who will do it

#Justice4Emannuel: Nigerians demands answers after 16-year-old boy reportedly dies in school

The death of a 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel Ojo, who reportedly died in school has sparked outrage from Nigerians on social media.

According to reports, the deceased who until his death was a JSS3 student of CAC Grammar School, Akure, fell and hit his head on a concrete floor while playing on the school premises on Tuesday, January 11.

He was reported to have been rushed by the management of the school to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital, Akure, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the death of the minor, Information Officer of the Ondo State Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mr Olaoluwa Meshack, issued a statement, revealing the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Mr Olufemi Agagu, and some other government officials paid a condolence visit to the school and the family of the deceased.

In the statement, the commissioner urged the bereaved family to “take solace in God, believing that Him alone knows the appointed time for every being on earth.”

Meanwhile, during the Commissioner’s visit to the school, the principal, Mrs. Oluwapelumi Adetimehin, narrated what transpired before the sad occurrence.

She revealed that the deceased, aged 16, was hale, hearty and bubbling with life when he resumed at school on Tuesday, but began to complain of a headache shortly after the Principal’s test.

Adetimehin said accounts by eyewitnesses indicate that the deceased initially sat quietly among his classmates for a while until they began to play around.

The principal said that he later attempted to jump through the window, but hit his head against the post and collapsed hitting his head on the concrete floor.

Speaking further, she revealed Emmanuel’s colleagues raised the alarm that attracted school staff and she immediately rushed him to the school’s clinic, but was advised to take him to the teaching hospital in Akure, where he was pronounced dead.

The father of the deceased, a shepherd at CAC, Oke-Iyanu, High School area in Akure, Pastor Joshua Ojo, described the incident as a cruel blow of fate on the family, but said he could not query God why he allowed it to happen to him.

Despite the statement from the Ondo state government and from the school’s Principal. Nigerians are demanding answers to the death of the minor.

Taking to Twitter, an Ondo State Youth Representative and Youth Advocate, Oluyemi Fasipe, asked what happened when the boy was taken to the school’s clinic before he was then rushed to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Akure where he was pronounced dead.

“Who is the nurse that injected Emmanuel Ojo, the 16-year-old student of CAC grammar school in Akure who was reported dead In the school last week? Why did she give the boy a hydrocortisone injection? Why is the school not telling us in detail what happened?” Fasipe wrote.

A Nigerian lady, Mrs Amara Okoh, has shared quite an emotional tribute to her late husband, Dr Newton Walter Okoh who passed away on the 19th of January 2021, precisely a year ago.

“Nothing I write can explain the hurt I and our children feel everyday” she writes as she shares how his departure left a dent in her heart and that of their children.

Read the one year Remembrance tribute,

“I’ve tried severally to write this tribute..
It’s really one year.
Nothing I write can explain the hurt I and our children feel everyday.

You, Dr. Newton Walter Okoh, died a hero, let the world know it lost a hero on the 19th of January 2021.

I don’t know how to explain your absence in my life. Which angle, which area of our lives should I talk about? Your death is a monumental loss.
You left me heartbroken..

Your departure deeply broke Ebube and Dumebi’s heart. It’s a lot of serious struggle helping them to manage the pain of loosing you and putting up a strong face for them everyday when I’m actually more broken.

Awele actually thinks you are coming back.
She can’t understand why you are staying too long in heaven, she misses you and hugs your pictures everyday expectantly. My heart bleeds again and again each time…

Isioma was barely 3 months when you left, it hurts! I take consolation that he will grow to know that his dad, was a great father, a mentor, a compassionate, kind, caring, honest, God fearing, responsible, dedicated and the most hardworking and the best Obstetrician Gyneacologist/Fertility expert of his time.

This is hard Newton.

Continue to rest in the bossom of God Almighty.

We will forever love you.
Amara, Ebube, Dumebi, Awele and Isioma.”

“Never lose weight to keep a man, it takes a real man to love a fat woman” – Comedian, Lepacious Bose tells plus-size ladies

Popular comedienne, Bose Ogunboye, better known as Lepacious Bose, has advised plus-size women to not lose weight because of a man.

Lepacious Bose tells

Lepacious Bose gave this advice in a lengthy Instagram post while she shared a video of a man who married a plus-sized lady.

The fitness enthusiast disclosed that she gets tons of messages from pus-size women lamenting how men leave them because of their size.

She noted that the decision to lose weight should be because the want to and not to keep a man. She went on to say that it takes only a strong, real man to love a fat woman.

According to her, most men like to be with a fat woman but they do not have the guts to openly stay with them.

In her words,

“This post is not about whether she needs to lose weight or not; that is entirely her choice not yours or mine. So I will appreciate if you keep that counsel to yourself!

You see, this post is also about the fact that my dm is full, yes indeed full of heart wrenching stories of plus size ladies (for the purpose of this discussion I shall use the word FAT, pardon my societal incorrectness). Fat ladies who have had their hearts broken by men who left them because they felt they are too big! (The annoying part is most of these mumu men met the ladies fat ooo and they liked/loved them).

Let me tell you something, a whole lot of men love fat women, yes! They love the warmth, the flesh, the feel of the lush thick thighs, some even love the stretch marks! 😉😉😉 Unfortunately most of them are cowards, they love these women but do not have the guts to openly stay with them. Eventually they leave them because of what “people will say” because their friends and family members feel the ladies are too big and therefore inappropriate. Of course because these uncles are wimps they can not fight for these women, for what they truly want/desire. Oshisko !!!

They cave in, because they are wimps, they give up the love they want and go for the “socially acceptable” woman….. most of them end up miserable but hey…. Congratulations to them ooo! Am sorry but I love their misery 😂😂 It takes a strong man, a real man to love a fat woman, it takes an extra man to openly love her, it takes a man and a half to ignore the naysayers and freaking marry her! Kudos to all the strong men who are not afraid to love fat girls, may your bank account never lose weight! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.

“Dear fat girl, if you want to lose weight, go ahead; do it! However do it for yourself, your health, your choice….. but never to keep a man! You see, if he’s not ready to fight for what he really wants then he’s not man enough for you…. Pls let him go!
If he loves to be with you but wants to hide you from the world pls RUN! Most fat girls have the sweetest hearts and are wonderful lovers…. Trust me these men know it!!! They are just too wimpy to stay! You don’t need a wimp, you need a REAL MAN!”.

Barrister narrates experience with an insensitive neighbor who never offered him a lift

A Barrister, simply identified as Gafar, has narrated his experience with an insensitive neigh bor who never offered him a lift in his car.

Barrister narrates

According to the barrister with Twitter handle @mynameisgafar, whenever his neighbor sees him on the road, he would simply hail him and drive off without offering him a ride.

As fate would have it, the Barrister said he met the said neighbor at an EFCC office and he greeted him repeatedly to possibly solicit his help with the case he had with the EFCC.

However, Gafar stated that he didn’t bother to meddle with him as they would meet at home, like he always did to him.

He wrote,

“My neighbor with fine lexus jeep, will always drive past me when I’m going to work. He’d honk at me and yell “My Barrister!” Sometimes when I’m coming back, the same thing.
Today I met him at EFCC office. This young man greeted me like 6x.
Oga I’ve heard you, we’d see at home!

True life story! This boy has not said he should carry me one day, like we are literally going to the same compound. It’s just to be shouting “My Barrister, My Barrister” then drive off.

“My Leader Sir” We go see for house, whenever that is.”

OctaFX and musician Buju team up to uplift Lagos orphanage over the holiday season

OctaFX Buju

The international Forex broker OctaFX and the musician Buju collaborated in a Christmas charity initiative in Lagos state. They visited an orphanage and treated the children and the staff with holiday gifts and a proper celebration.

OctaFX Buju

Most people probably know how the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season is all about giving back to others and sending kind vibes throughout the stratosphere.
So what better way to return to the community than by supporting the most vulnerable among us? Children.

That is precisely what the musician Buju and the global Forex broker OctaFX set out to do. After some deliberations, they swiftly found the ‘Motherless Babies Home’ in the city of Lekki—an orphanage in Lagos state.

The ‘Motherless Babies Home’ is a state institution known for the care and energy that goes to its young inhabitants. The home houses 56 children and has a staff of 33 people.

OctaFX Buju

Gifts didn’t just go to the youth but also the orphanage’s faculty. According to the initiators, the latter’s sincere effort and hard work seemed appropriate to receive praise.

Buju visited the orphanage on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2021. He and the fintech company threw a party for everybody in attendance.

The Akwa Ibom state native Buju—also known as Daniel Benson—is no stranger to charitable gestures: ‘I have a guiding principle. All dreams at all ages are valid, no matter the circumstances. Starting a life’s journey in an orphanage is challenging for a child, to say the least. A harsher set of cards has been dealt. And Christmas is about expressing love the best way you can. “Some men speak of cheating as though it’s their birthright but they forget women have the capacity to outcheat them” – Reality star, Ifu Ennada

Big Brother Naija star, Ifu Ennada, has averred that women are capable of outcheating cheating men but won’t do so out of respect for their bodies.

The reality TV star stated this in a post she shared on her Insta-stories while addressing men who believe it’s normal for a man to cheat because they are polygamous in nature.

According to her, these men speak as though cheating is their birthright, while forgetting that women have the capacity to outcheat them.

She added that a man should not be applauded for being faithful to his partner, but rather a woman should be applauded for staying faithful despite having numerous options.

In her words,

“Some men speak of cheating as though it’s their birthright- “men are polygamous in nature’, but they forget women have the capacity to outcheat them if the want, but we stay elevated regardless because; what’s the point in disrespecting ones body.

“I hate when a man thinks he should be applauded for staying faithful. Yeah, You should applaud men for sticking with your ass when I can easily have 10 of you with just 1 phone call.” She wrote.
