Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has reacted to the Nigerian Federal government’s decision to suspend Twitter operations in the country.
In a statement shared on his Twitter page this morning, the governor reminded the Federal government of how important the social networking platform is to Nigerians of today.
He points out that the app has become a source of livelihood to some Nigerians and stressed that as leaders, the government should go beyond emotional reactions to issues and think about how our actions will affect the people we lead and our international ratings socially and economically.
Read the statement below,
It has become imperative for me to release a statement regarding the suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government.
As leaders, we should go beyond emotional reactions to issues and think about how our actions will affect the people we lead and our international ratings socially and economically.
Twitter has become the platform for young people and indeed all Nigerians to exercise their fundamental right to express and publish an opinion.
They use the platform to complain, argue and give feedback to government and its agencies who in turn, use these to improve policies. This is a fundamental point that should be kept in mind as we debate the necessity of this suspension.
We should also remember that Twitter has gone beyond a source of communication for many of our hardworking youths in Nigeria. It has become a source of livelihood for many, irrespective of their political affiliations or religious leanings.
Nigerian youths and digital communications organizations earn a living from being able to use the platform to post communications on behalf of their clients.
Others who may not have physical stores also rely on Twitter to give visibility to their products and services.
Furthermore, I believe the Federal Government should be actively interested in how certain policies and action will affect investor confidence.
I, therefore, use this medium to appeal to the Federal Government to reverse this suspension for the greater good of Nigerians.
Actress, Etinosa, has taken to her social media page to berate Nigerians for saying that Big Brother Naija reality show made Tacha.
Recall that a few days ago, Tacha shared a video online where declared that contrary to popular opinion, BBNaija did not make her, rather, she gave BBNaija a show.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Etinosa said it is wrong for anyone to attribute Tacha’s success to BBNaija, she insisted that Tacha’s God and destiny made her.
In her words;
Some of you like seeing someone down maybe because you are down too and misery loves company.
When some Nigerians say be humble, many atimes they want you to lie on the ground for them to match your head. They don’t like it when someone ,knows their worth, maybe because they are worthless themselves (I can never forget how some Nigerians were celebrating burnas first LOSS at the Grammys)
Even though BBN was part of her success, it is wrong to berate her personal effort and grace by saying “bbn made you”. God made her The oil on her head made her Her destiny made her Afterall, many went to the same BBN but…
Please just Stop berating people so you too can be ‘made’ This life is controlled in the spirit. Don’t let your bad Belle Rob you of your own blessings Shalom

According to him,
“From end of September 2019, to 2020, you will discover that even kidnapping and banditry reduced to the barest minimum”
He said; “When I was assigned to supervise the sector on 24, August 2019, unregistered, and partial registered sims were being used to perpetrate crime in the country. Nobody knew the total number of unregistered sims.
Within less than 15 days in the office, we have engaged the NCC as a regulator. We have directed them to carry audit exercise to enable them come up with unregistered and partial registered sims. They came with around 9.4 million which is enough to populate another country. It was the first time we didn’t know the total of unregistered sims in the country.
And we went further to direct NCC, to ensure that by 25th September 2019, that is only one month few days in office, I spent there to ensure that by end of September 2021, no sim that is not registered will be on our network. NCC as a regulator implemented that effectively.
From end of September 2019, to 2020, you will discover that even kidnapping and banditry reduced to the barest minimum. It was a time that hardly can you spend one month or more without hearing about kidnapping.
The more you come up with policies to make the system effective the more criminals will come up with another strategy to compromise the policies.” he added.

“REBUTTAL: NO CORPS MEMBER IS BEING MOBILISED FOR WAR
This is to clarify the misrepresentation of the NYSC Director-General’s recent interview with the media currently trending on the social media.
The Director-General had stated that in line with the National Defence Policy, Corps Members are like soldiers on reserve, because their education, exposure and sophistication, can make them easily adaptable to military training.
He charged them to remain focused and patriotic; and for the spirit of NYSC to live in all Nigerians.

Daddy Freeze who noted that Nigeria is a very religious country with countless worship centers but yet God is yet to solve her problems.
According to him, God is yet to solve Nigeria’s problem because her people are yet to obey God’s commandment on love. He noted that many pagan nations understands and practice the principle of loving one another and they are succeeding.
In his words,
“If you like engrave a hashtag on your forehead or tattoo it on your lungs and liver. If you do not obey God’s Command, he CAN NOT Answer your prayers.
Have you ever wondered why God hasn’t solved Nigeria’s problems despite all your daily marathon prayers and 5 churches per street?
Because for him to solve our problems we have to obey his son, who gave us a command under God’s blood oath, instructing us to love one another, putting the other person’s interests above our own.
Many pagan nations understand this principle, hence are succeeding. Until this instruction is adhered to, mark my words, Nigeria would continue in this trend. ~FRZ

A-list Nollywood actress, Dakore Egbuson has revealed why she didn’t complete her university education.
The 42-year-old actress made this disclosure in a recent interview with Chude. According to her, she decided to drop out of school because of the incessant strikes and harassment from her HOD.
She said these factors influenced her decision as she was fed up and frustrated by the Nigerian educational system.
In her words,
“You know I did try. I did. Let’s break it down, so first I went in 1996/97 to UNILAG to study Mass Comm. But I did a diploma.
“So I did a diploma in Mass Comm, majored in PR and Advertising. Then I left for a year cuz you have to work for a year to make sure it’s something that you really want to do and so I started working at Casers which is an advertising place.
“After that, I started working at a PR job, Y2Group which is where Emem (Isong) started off. This was before I went back to school.
And then because at that time I didn’t have much – nobody knew who I was – my parents had just split up, there were a lot of things going on.
“My dad wasn’t really there to help me with the admission process cuz everything was different. Just tough. Then I had to write JAMB again because I didn’t have the ‘leg’ to work my direct entry because I should have entered from Year 2 with a diploma.
“I now had to write JAMB again. I wrote JAMB and I did very well and I got into Mass Com., the course I wanted. So I started again from Year 1. This is after doing diploma, working, starting again Year 1, Year 2, then Year 2 half, the strike started.
“During that time I was on television doing Sports TV so even when I was in uni, I was already on TV. So my people were asking what kind of efiko is this girl? But I was so driven cuz I knew that I needed this education to go where I wanted to go.
“But when the education started getting staccato, it’s not for everybody and I got disillusioned. I’m trying to finish this thing so I can move on to the next thing and then you guys keep dragging me back, there was a time we were at home for a year. Just at home.
“So I worked with my uncle who also trained TY Bello in photography. This is to tell you the kind of person I was. I hated being idle and Nigeria was trying to make me idle, and I was not going to have it.
“So, I said, ok pata pata if I perish, I perish. Year 3, I was out. Also, I was being harassed by my HOD at the time. So, that was also a very difficult situation at the time.
“So I said, you know what? I’m going. I’m done. It’s a wrap.”
A South-African businessman has taken to his social media page to recount how he built a house for his mother.
According to Twitter user, @Karidas, he worked towards the moment his entire like because he went through real poverty with his mother when he was growing up.
He has now achieved his life-long dream as he completed the new house and welcomed her to her new home.
His post reads ;
I’ve been debating with myself on whether I should share this: I hope this inspires someone out there.
I’ve been working towards this moment my entire life, my mom and I went through real poverty when I was growing up. There were nights where there simply just wasn’t any food left. I’d hear her crying herself to sleep sometimes, and she’d put her head on the pillow because she thought I wouldn’t hear anything. Ever since I was a little kid, I made it a point that I would take care of her.
At the end of last year I asked her to come stay with me for “Covid Reasons”, but really I just wanted time to build & surprise her with a new house. On Mother’s day a few weeks ago she came back & I welcomed her to her new home & invited her close friends. Together with my friend Kabelo (an architect) we designed & oversaw the execution of the house.
Really grateful to God for His grace
The grieving family of a woman who reportedly died of Covid-19 were in utmost shock after she returned home two weeks after her funeral.

Members of her family who spoke to news men stated that when they tried to visit her at Vijayawada Government General Hospital, where she was receiving treatment they were told that she had died and had to be cremated.
