Toyin Ogundipe

Popular Fuji star, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has reportedly reacted to the suspension of a Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor, Toyin Ogundipe who was alleged to have paid him to perform at a crusade slated to hold in one of the parishes in Lagos Island.

The Fuji star declared that, in spite of the church’s management paying for the show, it is never done to expect him to pay back the “artiste fee” saying, “the fault is not ours, we were ready to perform for them until we learnt of the cancelation of the crusade”.

City People reports that, the Pastor in charge of Province 20 of the Redeemed Church had invited Pasuma to perform at the Church’s forthcoming crusade titled, “Lagos Island Family Areas Forum” between Friday, October 23rd – Sunday 25th, 2015.

Pasuma’s picture appeared on the handbill advert and posters alongside gospel singer, Tope Alabi and a former band leader of the late Fela Anikulapo’s Egypt 80 band, Kereke Jike.

The decision to stop the programme was because the church headquarters felt the Pastor had gone too far by inviting a secular artiste such as Pasuma to its church programme.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the organisers did not do a detailed consultation before going ahead with the programme.

He also said that it was as a result of it that the programme was cancelled and the Pastor in charge of the church along with the organising committee suspended as they now await further sanction from the provisional headquarters for dragging the name of the church in the mud.

investigations by City People reveal that The Redeemed Christian Church of God clearly frowns at the use of secular musicians, a development which has been clearly stated in its handbook to Pastors.

  1. But when they collect millions frm all kind people including government officials which they never ask where they get the money frm even when they know that the source of the money is not clean but nobody is punish…

    • #foolish_muhammed jamiu, dont yor imams and alfas collect money frm d govt?,or is it possible from yor own view, dat a gospel/juju singer be invited to sing at mosque programmes, can your imams allow that?? mumu!

  2. I noticed arch fundamentalists and religious bigots talking without thinking. Pasuma is a great artist and possess a creative ability to turn so called gospel songs to Fuji songs and Fuji songs to gospel songs. Please know this Mr one way thinker.

  3. The pastor should be more aware. How can he even think of using a non -Christian to minister over a Christian even ? Doh! Na wa. It’s not about making a song sound beautiful it’s about the minister action from the heart to God.

  4. There Is No Different Btw Pst And Musician. All Is Just Into A Biz, Pst Is Into Church Bis Wil Musician Is Into Music Biz. All Is Abt Money. Our Creator Recognise Us Wel, Neva Disfavoured Us

    • But sinner should not come and pollute the Church, if he repent and accept JESUS CHRIST Then he can come sit down and be taught, not to come and sing evil songs

    • Sure… Jesus came to save sinners… If pasuma was jus attending the program to get the message as everyone else it won’t be an issue

  5. I expected the pastor to be conversant with the core values and doctrine of the church he has been pastoring for God knows how long. I still don’t understand the correlation that exist between a secular fuji musician and the church.

  6. Which comedians?… Its Just akpororo and that is because he started from there, he relates his jokes to the gospel, he also leads in the worship, alias “the comedian with the anointing”… But talking about pasuma, I strongly go against it.. It’s clearly known he’s type of music isn’t gospel, moreover if that wasn’t queried, everyman has bills, won’t it discourage other gospel artistes, switching to secular music cus it’s more commercial
