I don’t even know why I am talking about modesty today, I guess there’s just a burden in my heart.

Mother of three who left her marriage over domestic violence narrates how she found love again

A Nigerian mother-of-three, has shared a touching story of how she found love again after leaving her first marriage due to Domestic Violence.

The lady identified as Elizabeth Omonigho Asekome, shared her story to encourage every divorcee out there.

Read her story below ;

I am sharing this story to encourage every divorcee out there.
I am also sharing this so that those of you who derive joy in shaming single mothers can keep shut cos you’re not God. Read👇👇
I am a survivor of domestic violence; After 9years with 3 children and repeated attempts to escape, I left with nothing but my 3 children on the morning of August 26th 1998 at the age of 28.
We were basically homeless squatters because no one wanted to accommodate a mother and three children especially that my vindictive ex-husband was threatening those trying to help me and kids with police arrest and accusing any male helper of being my lover.

Everyone was understandably being careful not to get involved.
There were no mobile phones and social media in 1998 to even reach out for help from organizations that can help.
My ex husband was a pastor and his friend, my dad, was superintendent of police and divisional crime officer DCO as at then.

No one wanted family/police wahala most especially since my dad was strongly against divorce.
So my children and I ended up living in a small church in Alagbado and the pastor used to put a tray down and urge members to contribute what he tagged Mercy fund for us.
Some members took turns bringing us food and clothes for a month then we moved in with my younger sister in Ago palace way Okota Isolo for the period it took my elder sisters to go plead with my father to let me return to his residence in Ekpoma. (The reason being that my father said he gave me out to his friend at 19 and vowed that no matter how badly I was treated I must stay married till death do us part, that if ever I disobeyed him and leave, I should go into hotel and prostitute rather than bring him the shame of being parent of a divorcee…story for another day).
My divorce was filed 1998 and final in March 19th 2000-bride price was returned.

I was 30, a high school cert holder.I decided to go back to school for my dream career-a lawyer with lots of help from Angels I met along the way.
I got my LL.B law Bachelors degree from Ekpoma, went to look for job in lagos and got a receptionist offer from an oil servicing firm in Victoria Island. Then I enrolled for my Master’s degree at Unilag Akoka after attending lagos campus law school and got called to the bar. I became secretary/legal adviser of my company.

I always wanted to remarry eventually.
But being divorced with 3 children makes it twice harder, some men feel they’re doing you a favor because you’re a divorcee with children termed “baggages”. Others couldn’t even consider marriage at all, they wanted me as mistress or side chick.

I started praying for a life partner, don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a saint.
I just wanted God to settle me and my children and surprise all them naysayers and haters.
So whenever there was an altar call for single needing a spouse and I joined to come out, there were lots of hush gossips and laughter and smirks about me. Some told me to my face to forget marriage and go back to my ex or become second wife.
The Pastor didn’t agree with me, he said God hated divorce I should go back to my ex-husband and be praying for him as a woman of virtue.
Everytime I heard that, I changed church. I don’t want to be ‘a woman of virtue’🙄🙄🙄.
During the period of working and doing my Master’s in Law at Akoka, one day, after midnight of March 16th 2008,I slept and dreamt I was in an empty courtroom approaching the judge but the seat was empty and a man in brown suit was standing facing the judge and someone behind me said that’s your “husband”!
He was turning to look at me as I tried to see his face I woke up.
As a single mom/parent since my divorced with 3 kids the past 10 years (1998-2008) I had been praying for a good man to remarry but my options was narrow due to my predicament and the society/church always reminds me of that.
But I just knew I wanted to get married again and experience love.
Anyway, Irked by the useless dream I got on my knees and bind and cast my dream ‘spirit marine husband’ as my mom calls such.
I got back on the bed awaiting sleep when my phone beeped around after 1am. I looked, it was an email dated March 17th 2008. I thought no need to waste my data, I’ll read it when I go to work in the morning.
At work I opened the email it was from Him who was to become my husband.(copy of the email below)
Back in 2007 December my now husband said he dreamt in the US; he saw a pretty fair lady who told him she’ll marry him. He called his family in Nigeria when he woke up and they told him to pray against spirit wife and familiar spirit.
On that sunday 16th March 2008 he was having conversations with his friend who happens to be my cousin in California also about his spirit wife dream and said he hopes to find a good wife eventually, my cousin then remembered my younger sisters who were single in Lagos and told him he has some single pretty cousins he can introduce to him. Because my cousin didn’t have pictures of my two single sisters alone, he sent the Easter one we all took together and when my husband saw the pictures he said he recognized me as the lady he dreamt of-The “marine-spirit wife”
he then sent me the email I saw 1am cos of time difference and decided to read when I got to work. I read it and ignored.
He sent a second email.
When he said: “you’re the woman of my dreams” in my mind I said “abia!” Story story!
He sent more emails and asked for my number. We got chatting.
He proposed during one of those chats i said yes and told me he was coming to marry me in May.

On May 8th 2008 he came; I went to pick him up at Muritala international arrival and met him in person for the first time ever after several emails and yahoo messenger chats.
Exactly 8 days after (shortest courtship ever) on the 16h of May 2008 we had a shotgun wedding.
That was exactly 13 years ago today.
We still call each other crazy and desperate for the hasty nuptials.
I still love Idris Elba and Denzel Washington and our Naija Phyno.
He is still planning to run off and marry Diana Ross and loves Mariah Carey, Serena Williams and Taraji P Henson (why else do you think I hate those bitches?!) but we’re still together, crazy and happy; laugh over irrelevant things and share gossips like barrack housewives.
It’s been rocky crazy good and fun!
No regrets.
My ex-husband who was so sure I’ll be back on my knees begging with my children because no one will marry me and when I get overwhelmed with cost of raising 3 children I’ll return and those men who acted like I wasn’t good enough for them are all occupying my timeline everytime I post pictures shouting wawu wawu like ambulance.
Dia fada! (Their dads😜)
Happy wedding anniversary to us.
Believe in your dreams.
It is not over until God says so.
If you want it bad enough you’ll get it (whatever “IT” is for you all, I hope this encourages you)
Thanks for reading❤❤❤

“I was rejected thrice at ritualists’ den” – 18-year-old Nurse, abducted in Rivers state shares her story

An 18-year-old auxiliary nurse, identified as Rachael David, who was recently abducted by suspected ritualists in Rivers state, has shared the horrific story of how she and some other victims were taken to a place she suspects to be a ritualist den but she was rejected thrice by the suspected ritualists.

Below’s what she told PUNCH :

“I went to get something at Okuru Junction that Thursday morning before going to work. I didn’t get what I went to buy. While I was returning home, a driver blew the car horn to call my attention and I stopped.

A lady was at the back of the car. He asked me if I know any place called Bitter Leave Junction and I said yes. As I was trying to direct him, he said he couldn’t hear me clearly and told me to come closer.

He touched me and I didn’t know if I entered the car or not. By the time I regained consciousness, I was already in an unknown place. They had blindfolded me and tied my hands. I couldn’t tell the time of the day.” s

“I was still rejected. After some hours, they took me and some victims somewhere blindfolded. One man asked them why they kept bringing me and told them to return me to where they picked me as fast as possible.

“Even though I couldn’t see what was going on in that place, it appears like a ritual killers’ den. I was the only person they rejected. I was rejected thrice. While I was in captivity, new victims were brought in. The abductors put me in the car and drove off. When we got to a spot along the road, they stopped, removed the blindfold and pushed me out of the car.”

“The kidnappers didn’t take away my phone so I quickly called my mum. I had fainted before they came. It was this morning (Saturday) when I woke up that I realized I am in the hospital”

“My lower body was detached from the upper body” – Nigerian woman recounts how she survived ghastly motor accident

A Nigerian woman, Mmanti Umoh, has marked 15 years since she survived a ghastly motor accident.

Ms took to her Facebook page to narrate how she was in a vegetative state for a long time after the accident and waa waiting for her ‘final day.’

She however survived, and later on in life, executed the toughest policy projects round Africa.

Read her story below ;

In May 2006, 14 to be precise. I was involved in a ghastly motor accident on my way back from church. The driver and rider took off thinking me dead. It was worshippers from ECWA English, Airport Road, Kano that recognized me and raised alarm.

My lower body was detached from the upper body. I was bleeding from all openings. It was terrible. I was taken to the International Clinic Kano where my mom a medical professional worked too. All efforts to stop the bleeding proved abortive.

The MD who had worked on 21 cases like mine prior, and seeing mine was looking worse helped my mom to give me the best care as they thoughtfully counted down to when the oxygen mask would be taken off and I would sleep.

I didn’t sleep or slip, I stayed in that mode for a year. Bleeding stopped but all I was in complete vegetative state. The doctors said recovery from a vegetative state is unlikely after 1 month if the cause was anything other than a head injury. I didn’t realize I was that way as I could hear and see everything that was going on but couldn’t process any information.

The best neurosurgeons in Kano were brought in, name a doctor that was needed and he was summoned because of Mercy Umoh (they loved her and she is really good with her profession) – they all agreed it was better I slipped through the sleep because, if I didn’t… life would be really hard and I wouldn’t be able to use my”My lower body was detached from the upper body” – Nigerian woman marks 15 years since she survived ghastly motor accident . Oh my parents and their faith in God.

Weeks into my stay in hospital- my friends Late Ada Ononogbu and Uzoma Tony Cheta found out and took turns to take care of me everyone waiting for the final day. Oh, my friend Uzoma was distraught he just kept saying ‘Mmanti you better not go anywhere’.

I didn’t go anywhere then, still here now. Somedays, ‘situation tells me to believe I should believe all hope is gone and from the looks of things I should be crying, but because I know who I trust my heart tells me to rejoice, my hope in God keeps telling me to hold on’.

It’s 15 years yesterday, my parents just woke me this morning with a thanksgiving song.

I made it. I have executed the toughest policy projects round Africa, worked the longest hours and excelled in ways Abba shows it can only be with Him. If you work on my team – you know it’s work. My mind is clear, my head functioning. Did I say that my spine healed and my hips stayed in place without support? I am the one God showed love.

God showed me mercy.

My client is traumatized in detention – Baba Ijesha’s lawyer writes the Police

Adesina Ogunlana, lawyer to actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha has said his client is traumatised in police detention.

Adesina, in a letter addressed to the Lagos police commissioner, Mr. Ogunlana asked that his client be released on bail, adding that Yomi Fabiyi is ready to stand surety for him.

Baba Ijesha was arrested in April for allegedly defiling the 14-year-old foster child of a popular comedian Princess.

The letter reads in parts ;

“We are aware that a piece of legal advice on our client’s matter has been issued about two weeks ago, disclosing prospective charges of bailable character.

From all indications, the investigation has been concluded in his matter and it is inconceivable that the issuance of legal advice will now be a basis for the denial of bail as you have been widely reported in the press to have claimed.

We submit that the continuous detention of Mr Olanrewaju James Omiyinka at your SCID Panti Yaba facility, for about thirty days now, in our respectful view, is in gross breach of his fundamental human rights as cognisable under the 1999 constitution the grand norm of the nation’s legal architecture.

As of today when I met with Omiyinka in the company of his thespian colleague and ready surety, Mr Yomi Fabiyi, he appeared traumatised, emaciated, and walked with a limp in his right leg. May I assure you, sir, that Mr Omiyinka is not a flight risk and he is prepared to face trial.”

Learn from me. Don’t get pregnant on a promise — Journalist Kemi Olunloyo writes, as she recounts how she got pregnant at age 23.

Nigerian Investigative Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has advised young girls to learn from her experience and stay away from getting pregnant “promise”.

Kemi gave out these words of advice as she shared her story of how she got pregnant at the age of 23, and was abandoned by the man responsible, regardless of the fact that he promised he’ll marry her.

She wrote ;

At 23, I was a single mom who had a 6 month old son abandoned by his father who lied that he would marry me when I got pregnant. I later became a Clinical Pharmacist at $90K/yr. My son now 34yo, never met his dad an Executive in the Lagos state govt. Young ladies get your PAPER

Don’t get pregnant on a promise. This is one of the reasons I vowed never to get married. Chioma get your paper like I warned you 2018, Pump your cooking show, classes, tour etc. Never depend on a man. Dropping out of school is a NO. STAY IN SCHOOL. Ain’t seen that man since 1986

That man is someone you all know. I raised my son who will be 35yo without a father. At the time his father’s side accepted the fact that I was right but his mother said he was old enough to father a child and called me a liar. Both parents are now dead. He was 31 when I was 23yo. So 57 in 60 days makes him 65yo. Some huge public figures reached out to me to see if he ever asked for his child? I told them not in 35 yrs🙄 Everybody talking about resemblance. Some of this man’s big boys friends in Ikoyi are actually shocked he fathered a child WITH KEMI OLUNLOYO and never supported the child but ending their friendships with him I hear.
We have moved on. Don’t let it happen to you young ladies. Learn from me. More in my vlog book #kemitalkslife where I will reveal his full name. I have not seen or heard from Babatunde since he left 1986. Get your education. He owes me 18 yrs of child support but that’s only money. Memories are lost.

”I was raped by my pastor when I went for deliverance”- Nigerian lady shares her heartbreaking story (video)

A Nigerian lady has shared her heartbreaking story of how she had to survive sexual assault several times which she said started from her childhood.

The lady identified as Dorothy Edet was speaking with newsmen during the funeral of Iniobong Umoren, the jobseeker who was raped in Akwa Ibom, and she recounted how she has been raped by close relatives, strangers as well as people she went to sell her wares to when she was a child.

She also told the horrific story of how she was raped at the age of 24, by a pastor who said he wanted to perform deliverance on her.

In her words

”My name is Dorothy Edet. I am actually a survivor of rape. I understand what it means. When people talk about rape, I also want to air out my voice.

At the age of seven, I was gang raped. Dressing has nothing to do with rape. What a woman wears cannot even push somebody to rape a woman. At the age of 10, I remember my Uncle telling my mum he is going to send me to school and that was how they came, took me home and they sexually abused me from 10 to 12 years old.

At the age of 15, I was raped when I went to sell banana for my mum. They finished eating the banana and the groundnut and they still raped me. AT the age of 20, I was gangraped again when I went to sell garri. They raped me, collected the money, collected the Garri.

At the age of 24, I was raped by my pastor who said he wanted to do deliverance for me and he did not do the deliverance. He raped me. Within five days, I was gangraped by a group of thieves who nearly destroyed my body. What did people say, don’t say anything.

They keep telling victims not to say anything. Do you know the psychological trauma that they pass through. This thing is painful. You don’t know what we face.”

“Women are humans not robots” – Mary Remmy Njoku tells people expecting women to work like they don’t have children and raise children like they don’t work

Mary Remmy Njoku tells

Nollywood actress, Mary Remmy Njoku has taken to social media to complain about the standards women are held to in the society.

Mary Remmy Njoku tells

The filmmaker and wife to IrokoTV boss, Jason Njoku, stated that it is not easy for a woman to raise children and work at the same time, because they are not robots.

According to her, it is either the women faces one squarely or do a little bit of both, adding that men should also support their wives to create a balance in the home.

She cited the example of a friend’s husband who complained that his wife does nothing but sits at home with their four boys. Mary was furious at his complaint and questioned how he expects her to work and raise the boys simultaneously, when the boys are all under the age of 10.

Read as she wrote below,

“Haba!! Body no be firewood 🙄. We have to either choose one or do a little of BOTH. And Oga has to do a little of BOTH too. To create a balance. Women are humans, not robots!!
A friend’s husband just complained to me that his wife does nothing to support him. ‘She just sits at home with the boys and eats’
Imagine 😡😡😡. 4 sons under 10!!!
Anyway I don’t think her husband will ever speak to me again 🙄🙄.
Time for a workout!! 💃💃”

“Poverty did not allow me take care of my child” – Actress, Lizzy Anjorin reveals why she had her second child 23 years after her first

Lizzy Anjorin reveals

Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin, has revealed that the fear of poverty deterred her from having a second child earlier than she did.

Lizzy Anjorin reveals

The actress, who recently welcomed her second child in Florida, USA, shared an insight into the controversy surrounding her childbirth in a recent interview with PUNCH.

According to her, she and her husband had concluded on surrogacy to avoid complications that might arise because of her age. However, contrary to their plans, she conceived on her wedding night and was unaware of it until she was three months gone.

 Lizzy Anjorin reveals

In her words,

“People do not consider my age and my health. You cannot compare the health of a 25-year-old hustling woman to that of a 50-year-old housewife. The latter would have more time to take care of herself. Nobody will help one out of poverty. Bringing children to this world without the ability to take care of them is a sin. I am an only child, so one would think that my mother would have been able to give me the best but reverse was the case. My mother could not independently send me to school or feed me well. Meanwhile, some people have 10 children and they give them sound education. These thoughts helped me to be more determined to work hard. Thankfully, I am not a sex addict and I have been on birth control pills for a long time.

“But miraculously, I got pregnant on my wedding day and I did not know. It took me close to three months to know that I was pregnant. I did not plan for pregnancy at all because I was taking precautions. When I got married, I thought we were acting a movie. I and my husband had planned to opt for surrogacy. If I had eventually had my child through that or in-vitro fertilization, I would have boldly spoken out about it to encourage other women.”

Speaking on the struggles she encountered while raising her first child, Lizzy said,

“My first child is 23 years old, and I can’t begin to say what I went through. All I can say is that poverty did not allow me to care for and stay with my child. If my mother did not take the responsibility of raising my child, I would not have been able to go to school or pursue other things. Some women end up on the street because of some of the decisions they make. I care about children deeply and I am so thankful that my husband was supportive all through my pregnancy. He remained unshaken even with all the reports that had earlier made the rounds about him.”

Friends of UNICROSS student, Priscilla Ojong stage protest walk; insist she is being held by unknown persons

Friends and colleagues of 22-year old Mass Communication student of the Cross River University of Technology, Priscilla Ojong, staged a protest earlier today as they insist that she is still being held by unknown persons.

This comes after the report that family members and friends raised an alarm that Priscilla has been missing for three weeks and some days after she allegedly left Calabar for Lagos to see a male friend.

On Friday May 14, Priscilla shared a video on her Instagram page insisting she isn’t kidnapped, stating that her phone got damaged which is why she has been unavailable for a while.

While her family members feel the video was made under duress, because she’s yet to contact anyone of them either physically or via the phone, they are seeking help from the general public and the police for her recovery.

Her friends and colleagues who as well, believe that she’s being held against her will and was forced to make the video, staged a protest earlier today.

“My son should face death penalty for Iniubong’s murder” – Uduak’s father (Video)

The father of suspected serial rapist and killer, Uduak Akpan who confessed to killing job seeker Iniubong Umoren in Akwa Ibom State, Frank Akpan has said his son should face the full wrath of the law and if the penalty for his crime is death, then so be it.

Iniubong Umoren was a 25 year old undergraduate lady who was lured, raped and eventually killed for a phony job offer by Uduak. Following his arrest, Uduak has confessed to the crime and has said he was ready to die if found guilty.

Uduak and his father were paraded by Akwa Ibom Police Command on Friday, May 14, 2021. Speaking to journalists, Uduak’s father stated that he was disappointed with his son.

He also said that he is ready to accept whatever penalty the law decides to punish his son with, even if it’s death.

In his words;

“I have never believed such a thing could happen to me because I brought these children up in a righteous way. The police stormed my house in search of Uduak but didn’t see him. I was invited to come and answer some questions at the police station and when I got to the station, I was asked to call him.

“When he came back to Akwa Ibom, I was allowed to interact with him and that was when he told me that he committed an offence. I was disappointed; I scolded him and asked why he committed such a crime knowing fully well he has two sisters that are equally students and are both in school.

“I felt bad because I know they are women too, and I wouldn’t want such fate to befall them too.”

“The fact that the house is always locked and abandoned is not true because we have a borehole in there and all the residents around there come to fetch water from our compound.

“It’s just unfortunate that this had to happen. I never knew that this is what he does and I’m not in any way involved in this particular act.

“I was never aware of his previous acts because I haven’t fully been with them. We just relocated from Abuja and I also retired because I was a government worker. I haven’t been around for close to 30 years now.

“I’m not happy about what my child has done. I don’t even believe this can happen to me after all the years of toiling to send them to school and ensure they get the best. It depends on the system and if they say the penalty for his crime is death, then he should face the full wrath of the law”.

Couple arrested for starving a 12-year-old girl for eight months in Sokoto (photos)

The Sokoto Police Command has rescued a 12-year-old girl, Joy Emmanuel, from solitary confinement of eight months.

The girl was said to have been caged for that period by her guardians identified as Emmanuel Basey and his wife Esther Emmanuel at the Sokoto Cinema area in Sokoto North Local Government Area.

Joy was also said to have been starved.

It was gathered that the couple claimed “she is mentally unstable” but were later proven otherwise by the police.

The spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, Sanusi Abubakar, said the girl was rescued on Thursday while the suspects were arrested and detained at the Dadin Kowa police station.

“They kept the girl in a cage at their compound and starved her of food for eight months.

“When our men broke the door of the cage, the girl was too frail to walk because she was emaciated.

“We met her in a very horrible situation, urinating and excreting inside the cage.

“The girl was taken to the specialist’s hospital for treatment,” he said told Daily Trust.

He said that both the victim and the suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person and other Related Matters for further action.
