Tanzanian recording artist, Diamond Platnumz has revealed he almost went bankrupt after featuring popular Nigerian singer, Davido on his song in 2014.
Platnumz who featured Davido on the remix of his hit track “Number One”, in an exclusive chat with Nairobi News recalled how the collabo almost left him bankrupt.
According to him, he spent ten times more than what he used to spend in his previous music projects in the collabo with the DMW boss.
Diamond disclosed that the money was too much for him that he had to approach several banks for loans to enable him finance the video shoot for “Number One” remix.
The Tanzanian music star, however noted that although he spent a lot on the project and nearly went broke, the collabo with Davido opened several doors for him.
He further revealed the collabo paved way for bigger opportunities and a new market which gave him the money to jump-start his label WCB.
He said,
“Before doing the first video version of Number One at Ogopa Djs in Nairobi, my video cost used to be about KSh 326, 000 per video. With Number One, I went ten times higher and spent KSh 3.3 million or thereabout to fly Ogopa Djs video crew to Cape Town, South Africa, and shoot my video. The outcome was amazing, and that gave me the green light to approach Davido for a remix.
“I took loans from Tanzania banks to finance my video and collaboration with Davido in Lagos because I had to travel there with my crew”.
Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has condemned the arrest of peaceful protesters by men of the Nigeria Police at the Lekki toll gate on Saturday.
Recall that some #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters stormed the toll gate today, to protest against the planned reopening of the Lekki toll gate following alleged killing of protesters on October 20, 2020.
However, officers at the scene, were seen in trending videos arresting and putting some protesters in a Black Maria.
Speaking in reaction to the arrest, Garba argues that so long as they are not causing inconvenience to other citizens, then they have the right to protest peacefully as permitted by law.

A mother dumped her newborn baby along a road in Daura town, Katsina state with a handwritten note explaining the reason she took the drastic action.
The baby girl was found inside a carton at Unguwar Amare, an outskirt of Daura Town around 1:20 AM on Friday, February 12.
In the note left with the newborn, the mother also pleaded with whoever finds the child to name her “Barira”
She also expressed her regret over her action, claiming that she was abandoned by an unnamed man who impregnated her after he promised to marry her.
According to facebook user, Yawale Musa Kallah Daura, the baby was taken to the police station by the good samaritans who found her and later to the hospital.

A Nigerian senator from Niger state, Senator Sani Musa has stated that the use of Cryptocurrency has made the Naira almost useless and valueless.
The CBN) had last week sent out a directive shutting down cryptocurrency exchange bank accounts, a move that led to widespread criticism on social media.
In a statement on Sunday, February 7, Osita Nwanisobi, Acting Director, Corporate Communications, clarified that that the CBN circular of February 5, 2021 did not place any new restrictions on cryptocurrencies.
Reacting to the ban, the Nigerian Senate has now invited the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele to brief its committees on the move.
According to the apex bank, cryptocurrency is used for money laundering and terrorism.
Senator Sani Musa has now said that the use of Cryptocurrency has made the Nigerian currency. He made this known on Thursday, February 11, during plenary while he and other lawmakers debated on the CB’s decision to ban the use of digital currency in Nigeria.

Using the InVID WeVerify tool, AFP Fact Check ran several reverse image searches on keyframes of the video and traced the viral footage to a similar clip published on this Facebook page.
The page is run by a branch of Gateway International Church (GIC) located in Choba, a university area in Port-Harcourt. GIC is one of the most popular Pentecostal churches in Rivers state with a large youth congregation.
The GIC video features the same people seen in the viral footage, including the supposed bride and groom.
“Romeo and Juliet rally/offline publicity was a blast, exceptional creativity!” reads the caption on the Facebook post published by the church on February 12, 2021.

Popular Billionaire Businessman, Prince Ned Nwoko has raised alarm to the general public that some people are plotting to assassinate him.
The billionaire disclosed this at a press briefing he organized alongside his youngest wife, Regina Daniels, on Thursday, Feb 11, in Abuja.

“My values are very strong. I have my own children and they are very strong in that regard too. I am not one to be involved in politics. But you see, not all your children are bound to follow you.
“One of my sons, who incidentally is an actor, has decided that he wants to be a politician. Most of the youngsters have been bugging my phone asking me to endorse my son that they want him as president and l get amused. But they keep insisting daddy, we want Yul to be the president of this country.
“We like him. He is disciplined, sympathetic, he believes a lot in people. They have bothered me so much that today, I’m hereby present him to you. He has my blessing. He has my endorsement.
“Any day he decides to veer off from the discipline under which he was raised, l will withdraw him from the race. It shall be well with you son. Since it has been your ambition to go into politics and the desire to run for the presidency of this country, may the good Lord assist you, protect and direct you.”
