Omo Ghetto The Saga, a movie by stellar actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, has been declared Nollywood’s highest grossing movie of all time.
According to reports, the movie has broken a four-year record formerly held by Kemi Adetiba’s film, ‘The Wedding Party’.
In a statement released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, Omo Ghetto The Saga, has grossed N468,036,300 and still counting.
The movie, which is showing in cinemas around the world, has also held the number one spot for three weeks in a row.
“Omo Ghetto’ has officially broken a four years record by knocking off Kemi Adetiba’s 2016 Comedy movie, The Wedding Party.
The movie had been Nollywood Highest Grossing Movie with N453,000,000, in the third place is, The Wedding Party 2 with N433,197,377,” the statement said.
NAN also stated that Funke Akindele’s latest feat is shocking, considering the fact that the coronavirus pandemic crippled the movie industry for months.
The record-breaking movie was released on Christmas day 2020, and is a sequel to ‘Omo Ghetto’ released in 2010.
It features A-list actors including Funke Akindele, Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo among others.
Bolu Okupe, son of former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, has addressed the controversy that arose after he came out as a gay man.
He had an Instagram live session on Monday night, January 25, where he vehemently kicked against the anti-gay law and stated that some of the legislators who signed the law are gay themselves.
Recall that the law was signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014. The law bans homosexuality in Nigeria and attaches a 4-year jail term for anyone caught in the act. During that period, Bolu’s father, Doyun Okupe was serving as a presidential aide to Jonathan.
Speaking during the live session, Bolu said,
“With the whole 14 year law, I bet you for a fact, some people who were signing or voting for that law are gay themselves. It’s ridiculous.
If you look at it statistically, you would know for a fact that a few people who voted on that law would have been gay themselves”.
He counselled women who are homophobic. He stated that women should be the ones pushing for the acceptance of homosexuality so they don’t end up marrying gay men.
“I do feel sorry for the women.You women should be fighting more for acceptance because a lot of you guys are married to gay men. I am sorry but your whole lives are a sham, fake. Your husbands are living in secrecy and leading double lives. I feel like some of you know and some of you don’t mind because your husband is rich but some of you don’t know but discover later and it’s heartbreaking.
I feel like you all should be pushing for acceptance more so that you don’t end in situations like this. Me personally, I would never want to be in a situation where the person who I call my lover or who I am married to does not even like me or is living a fake life. It’s a lot.
I don’t feel like any woman deserves that so that is why I feel like women need to stop being homophobic and push for acceptance so you don’t find yourselves in situations like that because a lot of you are married to gay men whether you like it or not, whether you want to accept it or not. That is a fact.”
Bolu also took a swipe at Christians who are quick to condemn homosexuality and tag it as a “sin”, when they do worse in their daily lives.
Fans of the football star have since taken to social media to offer their condolence.
A Twitter user @OkikeGodspower wrote, “Definitely not the worst the of your life. I pray that God will give you the peace of mind and grace to live on brother even as her soul rest on”.

Reality star and actress, Venita has narrated how she lost a juicy deal, after she dismissed the sexual advances of the company’s media head.
According to the former Big Brother Naija housemate, she bagged a major deal with a real estate company but lost the contract after turning down the media head’s sexual advances.
Taking to Twitter, Venita revealed the man told her she looked like his ex-wife and began to make inappropriate gestures at her, although she turned him down.

“This industry is not beans . All is smoke and mirrors . I prayed to God to be able to provide security for my girls. Some time ago I was to go into business with a real estate company. Was so excited for my first home which was heavily discounted on the journey of independence.
The company was well established and boasted a roster of worthy influencers. I was welcomed and I felt at home with the brand. Unfortunately for me the “media head” who also has a similar industry background, decided I looked like his ex wife and carried my matter on his head.
Even when I was gifted penthouse hotel experience for my birthday, he insisted on spending the night as “he couldn’t go home and had early island appt” . I actually left the whole suite for him and went home as I will not subject myself to any inappropriate circumstances.
I decided he had really crossed all professional boundaries and honestly he was not anyway involved with my dealings because I had a direct plug. I reported him to the CEO. He was asked to vacate my suite immediately the next morning. And was infuriated.
Upon further investigation, myself and his colleagues learned he was given money to prep gifts for me and needless to say he probably only spent 5k from what was allocated which was comfortably hundreds of thousands . The guy was just beyond crooked
Anyways fast forward. Although I was apologised to and we moved on, I never saw my contract again despite asking severally, (which was not concluded and as a result unsigned as the lawyer now refused to bring it out). Long n short , Conclusively my discounted house disappeared .
The CEO no longer took calls. Everything suddenly vanished . Fast forward to now. Truthfully What is yours is yours and man cannot take it. No need to talk too much. Ladies do not be afraid to draw your lines clearly. Especially in business.

It was learnt that the bride, Isata Sama Mondeh, is Sierra Leone’s current fastest female cyclist and also the first female bicycle mechanic in Sierra Leone. She is also the the first female bike mechanic to own a bike shop which number of cyclists working under her.

Three siblings reportedly lost their lives on Saturday, January 23rd after a truck rammed into their mother’s store in Akungba, Ondo state.
Recall that a truck rammed into stores, killing traders and students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Nigeria.
Of the deceased, three are said to be siblings. A relative to the 3 dead siblings has taken to social media to mourn their demise.
The dead siblings are Oluwaseun Ojinni (aka Pope), Ben Ojinni (aka Benayo), and Seun Ojinni (aka Topmost).
It was gathered that Oluwaseun Ojinni just got married not up to a month ago and his wife is expecting a baby, while Topmost a final year student was said to have died six days to her birthday.

Popular South African singer, Master KG, has revealed that Nigerian two-time Grammy Award nominee, Burna Boy, was not paid a dime to feature on the remix of his hit song, Jerusalema.
Although the original version of Jerusalema was a commercial hit, the remix which features the self-acclaimed African giant, transcends the original song’s success.
The remix is certified gold in Austria, diamond in France and platinum in Belgium, and is still enjoying massive airplay.
Speaking in an interview with The Punch, Master KG said the main reason there was no payment for the feature is because the original song was one of Burna Boy’s favourite music.
The South African musician said,
“I did not pay Burna Boy to feature on the remix of the song, Jerusalema. There was no paid fee for this feature to happen. The amazing thing about the song is that it was already popular. According to what I heard, the song was one of his favourite songs as well. It was so easy to make it work and make the collaboration a success. So, there was no payment for the feature.
“I also feel that the reason there was no money involved is because Burna Boy also loves the song and he related well with the song. It was not something he did for money instead he did it because it comes from his heart.”
Master KG further revealed that he was surprised when Burna sang in Zulu language on the song.
“I remember the first time I heard his verse, he sang in Zulu language and I was shocked. I asked him where he learnt the Zulu language from but he just said, ‘don’t worry about that. How do you feel about the song?’ It was amazing. A lot of people think that he asked me how to pronounce the words but he never did that, that shows you that he is an African man and the African giant. He showed that we are all one in Africa despite the languages we speak” he said.

Nigerian politician, Dino Melaye has taken to social media to flaunt a new addition to his fleet of cars, a luxury truck.

Ibadan socialite, Olaleye Ajibola popularly known as Gatuso was shot dead by suspected armed robbers on Saturday January 23rd.
It was gathered that Gatuso was shot dead by the gunmen at the popular Town House Hotel, where he was planning to propose to his girlfriend on Sunday, January 24th.
The victim had arrived at the hotel with some of his friends a day before the planned proposal, when he ran into the robbers, who were fleeing after stealing valuables belonging to employees and guests.
According to report, the assailants sighted Gatuso making a call and shot him at a close range. His body had since been deposited in the mortuary.
The spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed the incident revealed that the the gunmen had arrived the hotel pretending to be guests before carrying out the evil act.
“Teslim Akinpelu, aka Gatuso, was shot dead by four armed men at Town Hotel, NTC, Iyaganku, around 12.45am. The gunmen pretended to be lodgers before carrying out their evil intention.” he said.

The Founder of FCMB Group and notable philanthropist, Otunba Olasubomi Balogun (CON), has formally handed over his Otunba Tunwase National Paediatrics Centre (OTNPC), located at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, to the management of the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital (UCH). The gesture is part of his conscious efforts towards ensuring that Nigerians, especially children, have access to world class healthcare facilities and specialised treatment services. The cost of the hospital is estimated at over N5 billion.
The transfer of the hospital to UI and UCH was preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which clearly states how the Centre is to be managed by the parties, on October 1, 2020 in Lagos.
The formal hand over ceremony, which took place on January 19, 2021 in the premises of the hospital, was attended by the Group Chief Executive, FCMB Group and Board Chairman, Otunba Tunwase Foundation, Mr. Ladi Balogun; the Group Head, Corporate Affairs of FCMB, Mr. Diran Olojo; the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Adebola Ekanola, (who was unavoidably absent), was represented by the Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Yinka Omigbodun; the Management of University College Hospital, led by its Chief Medical Director, Professor Abiodun Otegbayo; the Interim Transition Management Committee of OTNPC led by the Chairman, Dr. Adeyinka Hassan, as well as other eminent personalities.
In his address, the Group Chief Executive, FCMB Group, Mr. Ladi Balogun, who represented the Founder of FCMB Group, Otunba Olasubomi Balogun, gave an insight to what inspired the business mogul to take up the extraordinary philanthropic project almost 11 years ago.
He recalled that, “the inspiration by Otunba Olasubomi Balogun to build this great establishment started when he took over the children’s hospital at the UCH Ibadan, where he was exposed to the true plight of sick children and the high demand for world class facilities to cater for their needs in a sustainable manner. An interaction with the then Minister of Health, late Professor Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, further propelled Otunba Balogun to do more in terms of the provision of world class medical facilities. The exposure and interaction later became the brainchild of this N5 billion establishment, credited as a prototype of the Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London, United Kimgdom”.
Speaking on the Banking icon’s decision to hand over the control and management of the Centre to UI and UCH, Mr. Balogun disclosed that, “at the end of its construction, some institutions requested to manage the hospital, but Otunba Balogun strongly believes that the University of Ibadan and University College Hospital are in a better position to do that effectively and further raise its status, considering their respective pedigrees.”
He further explained that, “following the signing of the MoU last year by all the concerned parties, the resolution is that while the University College Hospital has been mandated to provide clinical services, the University of Ibadan will engage in research and other academic works, whilestudents from UI would also be involved as part of the training”.
Appreciating the gesture, the Chief Medical Director, UCH Ibadan, Professor Otegbayo, said that it is an indisputable fact that the health and welfare of society are critical to the development of any community.
According to him, “we at the UCH are grateful for this opportunity to contribute to the well-being of residents in Ijebu community, Ogun State and Nigeria at large. We promise that as soon as all the legal nuances are sorted out, we shall fully move in and continue with what UCH is known for; unequalled provision of health care services, research and training”.
Commenting further on Otunba Balogun’s continuous generosity, he stressed that, “the UCH is not just witnessing the generosity and benevolence of Otunba Balogun now. Many years ago, he endowed the Otunba Tunwase Children Emergency Ward in UCH and he has been funding the Ward since then. A lot of children have been saved there, whiletraining and research in Paediatrics have been going on unhindered.”
In her remarks, the Provost, College of Medicine, Professor Omigbodun, expressed delight at the official hand over of the hospital to both the university and UCH. She lauded Otunba Balogun for handing over the management of the hospital to the institutions.
According to her, “we are extremely grateful to Otunba Subomi Balogun for this generous contribution to the medical sector. This Centre would certainly contribute immensely to the training and research activities carried out by our academics. It is our hope that other Nigerians who have achieved greatness in their various fields would emulate him”.
Otunba Subomi Balogun is a well-known statesman, entrepreneur and philanthropist with several charitable projects and programmes for the people of his hometown of Ijebu-Ode, as well as many other parts of Nigeria. His philanthropy ranges from the provision of this world class medical facility to education, capacity building, youth empowerment and other socio-economic initiatives, aimed at enhancing the development of humanity and society in general.

Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has reacted to the burning of his property by hoodlums, also declaring that he would revenge.
We had earlier reported that the house of prominent activist, Sunday Igboho in Soka, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, was burnt by suspected arsonists.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo state police command said hoodlums who rode in a hummer bus and a Micra stormed the apartment, fired sporadic gunshots before setting the house ablaze.
Igboho took to Twitter to react to the event, as he promised to revenge, he wrote;

The Dmw boss who’s apparently unbothered by trolls calling him “frog voice”, has now added a frog inspired pendant to his collection of luxury necklace.
Recall that sometime ago, Wizkid took to Twitter to direct an obvious shade at Davido, using the word, “frog voice” which has since been a catchphrase used by fans of the “Ojuelegba” crooner when bantering the ABT star.

Davido has now taken to social media to flaunt his new acquisition, the frog inspired pendant, from a luxury jeweler based in America, IceBox.

The lady and her boyfriend laid in bed while she made a short video of her beautiful self and decided to show her boyfriend in the video.
The young man who initially didn’t know that his girlfriend was trying to capture his face in her video, was stunned immediately he noticed.
He screamed and quickly put off the light in the room and everywhere became dark.

Wizkid made this revelation in a virtual chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, while he spoke about parenting, music and family.
According to the super star dad his desire is to see his children, namely, Boluwatife, Ayo and Zion, better than him.
