Nigerian singer, Joy Eseoghene Odiete, popularly known as Jodie has given an insight into the state of her mind following her split from Nollywood actor and producer, David Nnaji.
The marriage between David and Jodie went south after the birth of their son, Chinua. In 2018, David welcomed a baby girl with another woman and that ultimately proved to be the deal-breaker for Jodie.
The Kuchi Kuchi singer told The Nation, that due to the divorce, she battled depression for a long time.’

“After crying my eyes out, I tried to numb the pain, so I got a job far away from home, so that I would commute to work very early in the morning and commute back late at night – plus the Lagos traffic – exhausted. It gave me some false comfort, so that I’d be too tired to think and continue the cycle the next day,”
“I didn’t know I was depressed after a while. I even shaved my hair at some point – I thought it was a fashion statement (I really like hair) – that’s after I had gone blonde. Sometimes, I would put on very heavy make-up, just to add some ‘colour’ in my life. I was restless.”
“I was that way until, one day, still on the job – I had gone to Abuja for an assignment. I was walking back to the hotel I was lodged in, then I found myself praying this so-called prayer. It was full of bitterness and anger – asking God to punish those I believed had hurt me.
“Then, it was like someone spoke to me in my heart, saying, ‘but, is that what you really want?’ I paused. I then started walking slowly, I was now speaking out, softly, I said, ‘Actually, that’s not what I want, I just want them to see things through my perspective.’ After which, I continued the rest of the prayer, still walking, asking for peace of mind and help to forgive and move on.” I believe that is where healing began.
“I started afresh, like a child – I went back to my church choir. I continued with my hobbies – crafting and all. I even learnt a new skill (product formulation from Eudokas Beauty Institute) and opened a natural hair care brand called Kuchi Kuchi – of course, I grew my nappy hair back, and by the way, it is long again.
“I decided to sing some songs I’ve always wanted to sing, hence my new EP, ‘Songs of Truth’ I decided to live again and by the help of God and with gratitude in my heart, I am living again.”
Singer 9ice, his wife Olasunkanmi, and their daughter, Michelle, are still vacationing in Dubai.
This family vacation comes barely two months after the ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner openly admitted that he cheated on his wife.

A bride-to-be, Fatima Hassan Fari has died on her wedding day in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered that Fatima died at 7:am on Saturday, January 2, 2021, three hours to her wedding Fatiha slated at 10:am.
She was buried at 2:pm on the same day, according to Islamic rites.
A school friend, Mallam Muhammad Sani Isah while mourning the sad loss, described Fatima as an upright lady and a humanitarian.

A Nigerian man identified as Muyiwa recently left the country in search of greener pastures in Canada and while some people were happy for him, others criticized him and called him lazy.

A Nigerian man who involved in domestic fire incident and suffered 2nd degree burns has shared old and recent photos to show how much his health has improved.
According to the man identified as Busayo, the burn was “the most painful and traumatic experience” for him. He added that it nearly claimed his life.
Thankfully, he survived and his health and skin has improved.

Eleven-year-old student of the Deeper Life High School, Akwa Ibom, Don Davis, has shared details of how he was allegedly assaulted and molested by staff and students of the school.
In a Facebook live with his mum, Don Davis said he began to suffer physical assault from one of the teachers because he was bedwetting.
“When I got to Deeper Life school, because I bedwet, Mr Akpan uses belt on me. He uses any thing he sees, even if it is iron, belt, or he can even use stone. Because I bedwet, they transferred me from JS1 dormotery to SS1 dormitory.
There were two boys named Ola and Shalom, they used to put their hands inside my anus, bring out feaces and then use that same hand to beat me. For two weeks I did not have my bath”
When asked why he didn’t report the assault to the school authorities, Don Davis said Ola and Shalom, both SS1 students, threatened to kill him if he should ever report them.
“They said they would kill me if I report” he said

A man simply known as Onirinloye, has taken to social media to announce that he and his wife welcomed Nigeria’s first baby of 2021 in Lagos state.
The ecstatic new father was filled with emotions as he announced the birth of his son on Friday, January 1, 2020.
Onirinloye revealed that the baby boy came into the world at a hospital in Lagos at exactly 21 minutes into the new year.

Parents of 11-year-old, Don-Davies Archibong, JSS1 student of Deeper Life High School, Idoro Uyo, have demanded the sum of one hundred million naira compensation for the inhuman torture their son was allegedly subjected to in the school.
This is contained in a letter addressed to the Principal of the School, entitled “Gross Child abuse, palpable molestation, serial bullying, criminal starvation, malicious oppression, and dubious maltreatment of master Don-Davies Archibong (11 years old) by the Principal and Boarding Master, of Deeper Life Secondary School, Uyo”
The parents Mr and Mrs Iniobong Archibong sent the letter through their solicitors, Eagle-Eyes Network Chambers, and signed by David Okokon (Esq).
According to the letter which was dated December 22, 2020 and obtained by newsmen on Friday in Uyo, the School was given 21 days of the receipt of the letter to pay the N100million compensation.
The letter reads in part, “We are solicitors to Mr and Mrs Iniobong Archibong, resident in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, herein after referred to as our client. We have the firm explicit and unequivocal instructions to write to you on the above subject matter.
“It is indeed provocatively heartbroken, morally suicidal, religiously hypocritical that our client’s 11 year old son was torrentially bombarded with physical, and inhuman torture of debilitating dimension with resultant castration of his human person, dignity, and childhood innocence.
“We respectfully demand the payment of N100,000,000 within 21 days of the receipt of this letter as compensation to assuage the dehumanizing, horrendous torture and indignity our client’s son was subjected to and for his medical checkup and medication.”
Meanwhile Akwa Ibom State government announced its decision to withdraw from investigating the matter.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Ini Ememobong who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen Thursday in Uyo, therefore appealed to the public to exercise patience for a thorough investigation to be carried out by the police and other relevant institutions.
“The State Government will upon receipt of the report take necessary actions thereto”, Ememobong assured.
