Governor Wike promises N30m reward for information that’ll lead to arrest of Bobrisky

Nyesom Wike wins Rivers

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has promised a reward of N30 million to anyone who gives useful information that will lead to the arrest of the killers of the Director with the Rivers State Government during the Choba crisis as well as the capture of notorious criminal called Bobrisky in Gokana Local Government Area.

Wike made the pledge on Thursday, August 8th when he handed over 40 Patrol Vans fitted with Communication Gadgets to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), See 4 Eye, Police Anti-Kidnapping, Police Anti-Cultism, Federal Road Safety Corps and Eagle Crime at the Government House Port Harcourt.

He also reiterated that the state government was fully prepared to tackle insecurity and would do everything required to protect lives and property, declaring that the state government had proscribed all youth groups operating in the state because they had been hijacked by cultists.

Wike said ;

“Rivers State Government is fully prepared and will do everything required to protect lives and property. Without the protection of lives and property, there will be no governance and development.

“We are one State that has suffered neglect from the Federal Government in terms of support to fight insecurity. They have refused to pay back funds that we used in constructing Federal projects. But that will not stop us from intervening when the need arises”.

“Anybody operating under a youth body henceforth will be arrested by security agencies. Before you contest for any youth body’s leadership, you must send the names to the DSS and Police for screening. If they are cultists, we will not allow them to operate.”

Wike said that the vehicles and gunboats donated to the security agencies must be deployed to secure Rivers State. He announced that the Rivers State Government would establish a Trust Fund to cater for the families of policemen who lose their lives while fighting crime.

Court grants DSS permission to detain Omoyele Sowore for 45 days

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the Department of State Services, permission to detain the convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, for 45 days.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruling on an ex parte application by the State Security Service, whose operatives arrested Sowore last Saturday, held that the detention order would be renewable after the expiration of first 45 days on September 21.

The Intelligence Agency had on Tuesday applied for permission to keep the Sahara Reporters Publisher for 90 days to investigate him over his call for revolution ahead of the RevolutionNow protests which held in some parts of the country on Monday July 5. The security agency anchored its application on the provision of section 27(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act.

Ruling on ex parte application, a one-sided request by the SSS without counter-argument by Sowore’s legal team, Justice Taiwo, said he had to grant the application, “only to the extent” of allowing the security agency to keep the respondent in custody for only 45 days for the applicant to conclude its investigation.

He said, although the hearing of the application was one-sided as provided by 27(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act, the use of the word, “may”, in the provision “is directory” and not “discretionary”.

He said he would therefore, be failing in his duty not to grant the request for a detention order. He also said should the applicant require more time to conclude its investigation after the expiration of the first 45 days, it had the liberty to apply for its renewal.

If someone hasn’t done anything to you and all you do is criticize them, then look into yourself – Zahra Buhari says

Zahra Buhari-Indimi, daughter of President Buhari, has addressed unjust hatred and dislike in humans via a post on her social media page.

In her post, Zahra revealed that she has also faced unjust hatred before and revealed how she was able to handle it.

Her post reads ;

Today my post is pretty random just like the previous posts. I just want to quickly address some sad issues. I hear people being shamed, isolated, hated, treated so wrongly mainly for no reason and I’ve been brain storming what those reasons could be. And the only thing I could come up with was JEALOUSY.

You see if someone hasn’t done anything to you and all you do is criticise them, then look into yourself and critically analyse the situation and see you is in the wrong. We have other instances of compatibility.. that’s something else. When you and the person can’t flow at all. There’s nothing wrong with that, you don’t have to be mean or rude to the person. Just say your hellos if you can and let it be.

Ok when your being hated on or being bullied, believe it or not it’s happened to me several times when people thought they could push me around and do what they wanted to me.. sure, you can think you can treat me the way you wish and go free but don’t forget I have the power as to how I react or respond. You(bully or hater) will not have the power to treat me the way you and also have the power to control how I respond or react. You can only choose one.

There’s no doubt that it could hurt before you get used to it.. but I have secrets and ways for you to cope with these kinds of people. But share with me what you would do if you were bullied or hated on.

“IK Ogbonna and I have parted ways for good legally” – Sonia Morales announces

Following several months of speculations and online banter, Sonia Morales, estranged wife of Nollywood actor and model, IK Ogbonna, has just announced the end of their marriage.

Sonia Morales announces

The couple got married in 2015 and their union yielded a son, Ace – announcing the end of their short lived marriage, Sonia took to Instagram this morning to write,

‘this is a hard letter to write as i am pretty sure I will cry my way through this post. I know i should have said all these a long time ago, but back then, i was just weak and could not think straight because i was busy struggling to make things right the best possible way within and even beyond my capacities’.

A friend of mine asked me the other day if I had written a goodbye letter to my former life, my memories, my ex. When she brought the idea up, I got immediate chills and a touch of anxiety. I wonder why that is.

I used to have a very different life. I had a husband and a family. I had someone who lived here and i felt loved me full time. I had a future I was counting on. A lifetime of companionship, family vacations, milestones, laughter, and love but all to no avail as i felt deflated for many years and now its all gone.

In the past, I have blogged about stuff as it comes up, but no real goodbyes yet.
Many times i felt miserable on the inside and cried my life out day and night in my room alone but as time went on, i outgrew the my reality i was passing through the years.

I want to use this medium to thank my ex-husband for not prolonging the hardship and now i have to face the world on my own. Our son will forever be a representation of you in my life.. Thank you for the lessons you taught me over the years. I wasn’t sure what to write, who to write to or what my angle would be.

But I know who I need to say goodbye to now with certainty.

Lastly, without hate or animosity, i look back at the past five years and all i can do is thank you. Thank you for the good times, for the hard times. Thank you for helping to shape the strong person I am today and for being a part of my life for a small slice of time.

Nollywood Actors, Tonto Dike and Yvonne Jegede took to the comment section of Sonia’s post to show her support. See post below.

HIV patient dies after he stopped taking his medication and embraced faith

A Nigerian Lady has taken to her twitter account to reveal how a friend who was HIV Positive died after he stopped taking his medication due to his new found faith.

The Lady revealed her friend contracted the disease through birth but opted not to use his medications any longer once he’d embraced faith.

Her tweets read ;

I got a text today

“I lost a friend who had HIV this morning. He got it through birth. You know why I’m not happy? He stopped taking his drugs saying he has faith.”

One of my dilemma as a physician and a believer is this. Where do we draw the line btw faith and foolishness?

I mean I’ve been dragged since Sunday for questioning that testimony but there are so many things we as believers do all in the name of faith that is scary.

How many times have you gone to the bank to withdraw 1 million that is not in your account cos of faith?

Ever heard the story of Hezekiah in the Bible? He had a boil that was supposed to kill him, he prayed and God sent his prophet to heal him using fig ointment (ie medication). 2 kings 20

So why are we as believers so adamant about drugs?? Must God perform miracle?

I don’t doubt God’s power, I’m not saying miracles don’t happen, but I’m saying Atleast confirm it’s a miracle first before you drop your drugs.

God can do it, YES, but God doesn’t always do it.

He will have mercy on whom he pleases. Be wise!

Buhari remains best hope for Nigerian economy – Presidency says

President Buhari

The presidency has said that the incumbent, President Buhari remains the best hope to grow and develop the Nigerian economy.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this declaration in a statement he released yesterday August 7th while reacting to the opposition party, PDP’s claim that the Nigerian Economy is in shambles. In his statement, Shehu said the Nigerian economy needs a change and President Buhari remains the person with the will and determination to deliver the much desired change.

The presidential spokesperson went on to enumerate the growth recorded in the economy since the Buhari administration came into office in May 2015.

According to Shehu, the economy grew by 2.35 per cent in second quarter of 2015 and 3.96 per cent in first quarter of 2015 as compared to 5.94 per cent in fourth quarter of 2014.

He said ;

”While foreign direct investment can help, it is not the only source of investment in the economy. There is also domestic investment which is either undertaken by the government or by the private sector. It is also noteworthy that capital importation into Nigeria grew by 216 per cent in the first quarter of 2019 as compared to the last quarter of 2018. A look at business pages in newspapers shows that there is a lot of business activity going on in the country. Two stories in today’s paper point to increasing economic activity. First is that the profit of UACN grew in the first half of this year by 61 per cent.

”Second is that Business Day (pg1) states that cargo imports jumped by 21 per cent in the first half of 2019. Increasing imports is a pointer to greater economic activity and the availability of foreign exchange with which to conduct business.

”Construction of roads, highways, public transport and airports have sharply increased. Government is spending heavily on power. This, combined with private sector investment has grown generation capacity to 13 megawatts. All said and done, President Buhari remains the best hope for the Nigerian economy. The country needs change and this remains the person with the will and determination to deliver”

Xenophobic attack: Nigerian Students give South Africans 7 days to leave Nigeria

Nigerian Students give

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has given all South Africans and their companies operating in Nigeria to shut down within seven days and move out of the country, following the overwhelming number of Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

The umbrella body of students in Nigeria specifically mentioned telecommunications giant, MTN, Multichoice and Shoprite.

The ultimatum, which was issued at a joint press conference addressed by the leadership of NANS and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), came on the heels of incessant attacks and murder of Nigerians in South Africa.

President of NANS, Comrade Danielson Akpan, who handed down the ultimatum, said these companies linked to South Africa must leave Nigeria “in their own interest” as the students can no longer tolerate the incessant harassment, brutalization and killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

In an address titled: “South Africans Must Go; Nigerians Return Home From South Africa,” Akpan recalled that members of NANS have been on the streets in major cities of Nigeria in the last two weeks picketing South African businesses to draw global attention to the mindless killings of Nigerians and looting of their properties in South Africa.

“Behold, the killings have continued and has even assumed a more dangerous dimension. This worsening development calls for a swift reaction. Importantly, we want to call on Nigerians in South Africa to reconsider their stay in South Africa and return home.

“Having gone through the first phase without any remorse or practical action to end xenophobic attacks in South Africa, we wish to announce that Nigerian students have decided to take on South Africans same way they are doing to our people. We have seen the helplessness of the South African government in reining in their citizens and wish to condemn in unambiguous terms the continued pampering of those involved. Every nation has own internal crisis hence no citizen of other nation should be sacrificed for criminal activities of South Africans or any other.

“Since the economic prosperity of Nigerians can no longer be tolerated and their lives secured in South Africa, there’s no need also to condone the continued flourishing of South African businesses and her citizens in Nigeria.

“We therefore wish to officially ask all South African-owned businesses in Nigeria to relocate in the next seven days. We specifically want Multichoice, MTN, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Shoprite and others to close their businesses in their own interest within seven days.

“In the same vein, we request that South African nationals in Nigeria should return to their home country as we can no longer watch them enjoy peaceful living in Nigeria while our citizens in their country continue to pay with dear lives for no reason other than being resourceful and flourishing in their businesses and career.

South Africans should henceforth leave Nigeria with all their businesses. Nigerians are not joking about it and we are giving seven days ultimatum for this action to be carried out. Diplomacy has failed”.

Growing up I felt men were monsters – #BBNaija’s Ifu Ennada says

Reality TV Star, Ifu Ennada has revealed what she felt about men while growing up as she narrated a scenario that played out in her head after she saw a ‘shirtless hot guy’ from her balcony.

The reality show star revealed that she suffered a variety of abuse in the hands of relatives, a former employer, people she trusted and also grew up in an environment where men beat their wives for no reason just to prove a point. All these took a toll on her and left thinking that men were monsters while growing up.

She wrote;

My people I think I legit need redemption. So this just happened – From my balcony I saw a shirtless hot guy and went “oh my goodness, this guy is sweet…” I started thinking of the things that could be, but in that same breath I quickly said “abeg nothing dey there jare, dis one go be like the rest.”

When I went back inside I reflected on my actions and just marveled at how far I’ve come in blocking men out of my life. Do you know that sometimes I imagine myself having kids through a surrogate just so that I don’t disrupt my life and future with the problems that come with being in a relationship with a man?

But can anyone really blame me? I grew to watching and hearing countless news of 72 year old men raping 3yrs old girls and getting away with it. Sadly, this is still a norm in my country. I grew up in an environment where men beat their wives for no reason just to prove a point – I still can’t tell what the point is. I have suffered a variety of abuse in the hands of relatives, a former employer and even people I trusted. As a young child everywhere I looked, the society made it seem like only men had the power to make wealth and even the women didn’t help… So how can anyone even blame me for the way that I am? —

Growing up I felt men were monsters, it also didn’t help that the government was/is run by mostly men who have eveything but good thoughts for Nigeria, so I was a very f*cked up kid even though I was/am a bright Star. I was a Rebel. —

I have been trying to make adjustments but I don’t think my redemption will happen in one day.

I was a Rebel. — — I have been trying to make adjustments but I don't think my redemption will happen in one day. — — Don't forget to click on the link in my bio to shop my collection of #WigHats , preorder price ends today. — — #IfuEnnada #5MillionADay #WigHat

First, I am still single, as single as a dollar bill but not as a result of the scarcity of “men”, but by choice. I love me too much to share me with anyone till…. well till I find someone who is worth it.

Second, I am not anti-marriage, I love the institution, the greatest love story I have ever heard of or seen was my folks, they loved and joked about dying together and they were buried side by side. I am a lover girl, just won’t tolerate the BS.

#BBNaija: Seyi and Tacha captured sharing a warm embrace (Video)

Big Brother Naija housemates, Seyi and Tacha developed a friendly bond after their time in the secret room and it seems they are still amicable despite disagreeing on a couple of issues this past week.

The cohabitation of housemates, Seyi, and Tacha in the Secret Room two weeks ago did more than just mere bonding between the two but a back-to-back pairing in the same group for weekly tasks seemed to be more than just coincidence as emotions and feelings coupled with being confined in a space for what maybe 99 days for the two.

With the preparation of this week’s pageantry task, he was seen glued to Tacha’s body as he engaged her in a warm, tight hug, fondling her waistline.

Nigerian youths lack intelligent curiosity, they want things quick and easy – Wole Soyinka

Professor Wole Soyinka, has said that he would not keep silent whenever injustice is done to any powerless or vulnerable Nigerian by the people at the helms of affairs of the country.

In an interview with Premium Times, the Nobel Laurete said he feels himself reduced whenever some horrendous violation is being done to another human being, especially the downtrodden.

He said:

“If I step out of my house and there is some horrendous violation being done to another human being, I feel myself reduced, and for the rest of the day, maybe the rest of the week, I’m not really whole. It preys on my mind. In other words, there are other things that I would rather be doing than going out on a limb to bat.

“If you live in a society like this where you feel, sometimes, that you are completely alienated from the rest of society, where society itself doesn’t seem to share, in the main, same principles, where very often, in fact, you find the very people you’re trying to defend turning on you because they prefer to take the side of power. They feel more comfortable under tyrannical forces because they perhaps feel that, if they just endure such tyrannical forces, they might go away in the end.”

Speaking on the Nigerian youth, Soyinka frowned at the treachery of the so-called young generation saying many of them are only just waiting for their own slice of the national cake, stressing that they admit it, they co-opt others and even ridicule the progressive ones among them.

“The first thing is that I have never given a blanket endorsement of youth. I used to exchange friendly disagreements with Tai Solarin from time to time over this. I remember I took him on once when he said, I can die for the young generation, and I said, don’t say that. Don’t be so sweeping in your statement, some of this young generation is treacherous and many of them are only just waiting for their own slice of the national cake.

“But something has been happening to our youth. It’s probably the technological strides in communication and dissemination of information. Far too many of them, empty-headed, really think that they know. They are what I sometimes refer to as the generation of be–the- first- to- comment. It’s like they are sitting down there, they don’t understand the issue somebody has just posited, either as a blog or whatever you people call it, I don’t know– I don’t live in that virtual realm,” he added.

He said some Nigerian youth lack intelligent curiosity, adding that they want things quick and easy and that they ridicule those who take the trouble to set a standard.

“They strike me as capable of betraying a serious, genuine cause and endangering themselves–-which is okay–-but to endanger the overall movement is unacceptable. They want everything quick and easy, and they want knowledge as pre-digested mush.

“Anything that requires even figuratively chewing over an idea, a moment, an occurrence, they resent it, they ridicule those who take the trouble to set a standard-– it’s too much labour for them to aspire to a higher level. I become sickened, in the main, by this so-called new generation,” he said.
