Eight Nigerians were on Wednesday sentenced to death by a Sharjah Criminal Court for carrying out a string of armed robberies at money exchanges and cash machines across the emirate in December 2016.
Gulf News reports that Judge Majid Al Muhairi delivered the judgement, sentencing the ninth person to 6 months in jail, followed by deportation, for being in possession of stolen money.
The sentence is coming less than three weeks after five Nigerians, who allegedly robbed a bureau de change in Sharjah, were arrested.

The men were said to have attacked security trucks transporting money, entered establishments by force and threatened and assaulted staff and members of the public.
Three of the attacks were carried out in the same day on December 18, 2016, Gulf News reported.
The gang first robbed a Dubai Commercial Bank ATM where Dh340,000 was stolen, and attacked an ATM in a mall, carting away with Dh700,000, and then another ATM in Muweilah where they stole Dh710,000.
Police foiled a fourth attack at a money exchange office.
20 people were initially arrested and part of the money stolen have been recovered. However, the convicts were said to have transferred some of the money to their home country.
Reacting to the news, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa described the development as unfortunate, adding that “it is not an incident that defines who we are as a people.”
In a tweet on Friday, Dabiri-Erewa said: “In the UAE, death sentence is life imprisonment, no option of a parole. While life imprisonment would be at least 15 years in jail.”

A heated debate has ensued between Nigerians on Twitter regarding who is a better performer between Michael Jackson and Beyonce.

No doubt, Michael Jackson and Beyonce are two musicians who have made great impact with their talent, but Twitter users believe they are not on the same level and have resorted to comparing MJ vs Beyonce.
This comparison comes after the release of Beyonce’s Homecoming documentary which showed the efforts Bey put into making her Coachella performance exceptional. She had just given birth to twins via an emergency C-Section after suffering pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. Yet, she refused to stay home to recuperate and immediately went into beast mode, exercising and dieting just to get back into shape.

Following the release of the documentary, Some Twitter users began to refer to her as the greatest of all time and no one, not even Michael Jackson, can compare. But some tweeps felt there was no basis for the comparison as both artists were from different eras. Some said Michael was able to make so much impact globally, even without the internet, whereas the internet helped give Beyonce reach.
Some compared them based on their stage performances and the impact they had on the crowd during concerts. They pointed out that people fainted when MJ performed but Bey hasn’t been able to achieve that.
So far, web users have been unable to come to an agreement as diehard Beyonce fans insist she’s the best of all time, whereas, others say she’s good but can’t compare with the late MJ.

A man identified as Felix Rwang Danjuma, a native of Rim district in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, died at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) – two hours after his wedding on Saturday April 13, 2019.

The Late Mr. Felix, who was 45 years old, died wearing his wedding suit while the bride was heading home in her wedding gown when the shocking news reached her.
He was rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital at about 3:30pm after the exchange of wedding vows at the church and gave up the ghost at 5:30pm. Right from the church, it was learnt that he started having strange feelings that made it difficult for him to breath.
On arrival at the hospital, those who knew him were hailing him in the male ward, a situation which attracted people to his bed. He danced and celebrated with people in the hospital after he regained consciousness. He was asking people to go and rest but those close to him said he was the one that needed to rest. News went round that Felix was in a stable condition and the bride was happy celebrating with her friends in anticipation that he was going to be discharged later in the day.
Felix later decided to sleep but failed to wake up two hours after he was brought to the hospital. Those who were beside his bed didn’t know that he was dead. It was discovered when they noticed tears in his eyes and blood gushing out of his nose.
The attention of doctors on duty was drawn immediately to his condition but it was too late to save his life as he was confirmed dead. The sad news turned the wedding celebration into mourning, the guests became sympathizers.
His death immediately generated lot of speculations. While some people were suspecting a witchcraft attack, other thoughts were running riot in the mind of the 24-year-old bride, Keneng who cried and wailed hoping a miracle would happen.
Narrating to Saturday Sun how her hope of being together with her husband was dashed two hours after their wedding, the 24-year-old Kaneng said her husband became sick during the preparation for their wedding and recovered before the event.

She said: “He was hospitalized after our traditional wedding at Bingham University Teaching Hospital Jos and was discharged after some days. He was hale and hearty as the wedding plan was going on smoothly with high expectations.”
Three days to the wedding, he was struck with an ailment and was rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital. After diagnosis, he was confirmed to be diabetic.
According to her, he was brought to the church from the hospital on the wedding day where they tied the nuptial knots with a vow to love each other till death parts them.
Keneng was not expecting that her husband would die in such circumstances. Her prayer was that he was going to be discharged from the hospital on the wedding day.
He was however returned to the hospital even before the wedding reception ended based on doctor’s advice. Her expectation was that her husband would return home that fateful day after medical examination. But unfortunately, he died.
The funeral rites were conducted on Thursday April 18, 2019 at his village in Rim district of Riyom Local Government.

Jealousy is just love and hate at the same time.
Haters only hate the things they can’t have and the people they can’t be.A person hates you for 3 reasons
1) They want to be you.
2) They hate themselves.
3) They see you as a threat.Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain… and most do. Haters don’t hate you, they hate themselves. Because you’re a reflection of what they wish to be. Believe in yourself and all that you are. And don’t forget to love your haters. They keep you motivated. How beautiful it is to stay silent when someone expects you to be enraged.

Nigerian singer, 2Baba, this week celebrated 20 years in the music industry, and he has revealed what he learnt over the years.

In a chat with Showtime, revealed that he learnt not to judge himself by what others her doing.
‘I just want to thank God for my musical journey, I want to thank everyone that has supported me on this journey so far because it’s been twenty years since I came out; twenty years since Nigeria knew me. People have been hearing my music before, from Benue and other cities, but the first time that I officially kicked off my music career professionally, from Plantashun Boyz was in 1999; twenty years ago. Since then I’ve been here.
‘So many people have been part of my journey, there have been so much ups and downs. I’ve said so many things I shouldn’t have said.
‘ I’ve made some foolish decisions; but then I’ve done a lot of great things that I’m grateful to God for.
‘ I’m grateful to God and all my fans for still being here; I’m grateful for all my critics and for all those that have supported me all these twenty years. It’s been lonely at the top, but it’s no more lonely, because many young bloods are now taking music even beyond where I took it to and that’s my joy.
‘But you know as they say ‘Old soldier never dies’, so I’m still much relevant and at the top”, he said with excitement. Speaking further, 2Baba who is set to continue the 20-year anniversary celebration with a series of activities revealed what his two decades of musical reign has taught him.
‘Twenty years in the music industry has taught me that whatever you do you must keep your head straight and do your thing. You don’t have to judge yourself by what others are doing. Everyone steers the boat of his/her life, the moment you begin to judge yourself by other people’s actions then you’re heading for a crash.”
