Nigerian superstar, Wizkid literally broke the internet with his FEVER video, shared on his YouTube page about a day ago and he has taken to his social media page to celebrate.
Wizkid’s FEVER video achieved the feat of reaching a million views in not more than 24 hours after its release on YouTube.
The singer, sharing a screenshot showing that he has a million views in 20 hours, wrote alongside it, “Wicked“
It’s no doubt that the PR stunt put into the video is what made it achieve this feat but really it’s quite fascinating that he is able to pull it off and set a record… isn’t that the point? to set a record?
Indeed, we need to give the singer and his team a round of applause for this… it’s quite a controversy.

A Nigerian man, Ayan Olubunmi has been sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of N500,000 for posting nude pictures of his ex-lover on Facebook.
Ayan had been dragged before the court after Monica petitioned the office of Attorney General of the Federation AGF, Malami Abubakar. Counsel to the AGF, O.A. Oyewole had told the court during hearing of the suit yesterday October 24th, that Ayan, a married man had had an affair with Monica and that when she asked for the relationship to end, he Ayna threatened to release her nude photos which she sent to him online unless she pays him N200, 000. When she couldn’t fulfill his monetary demand, Ayan went ahead with his threat and released her nudes on Facebook.
While delivering judgement on the matter, the presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, said Ayan was found guilty of committing the crime after evidence made available to the court was found as “incontrovertible proof that he willfully and maliciously committed the crime”. Describing the crime as disgraceful, very despicable and barbaric, Justice Taiwo said Ayan is guilty of violating Section 24 (1) of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Justice Taiwo then sentenced Ayan to two years’ imprisonment, and a fine of N500,000 to be paid into the coffers of the Federal Government.
“I find this act of the convict highly disgraceful, very despicable and barbaric to say the least. He has behaved true to the saying that hell knows no fury than a lover ‘s scorn. I must say that the defendant who has a wife and children at home could find it easy to demean and embarrass a woman who was having an amorous affair with him. It is an act of meanness to attempt to, if he has not already tarnished the image and reputation of Asare Monica. The act of the convict is very strange in our society not to talk of in Aisegba-Ekiti and Ekiti State in general where there are very proud and educated men and women and the society is so closely linked together and everyone knows one another. The world has become a global village with the emergence of the social media. Who knows who would have seen the nude pictures?
“Justice in this case demands that people like the convict should be taught a lesson that would serve as deterrent to others who may like to behave in such manner. Under no circumstance must Asare Monica or any of her families and relatives be harassed by anyone. I therefore charge the Police to arrest anyone found to harass Monica or any of her relatives or families and friends.”
The presiding judge said the jail term takes immediate effect, adding that he had been lenient in sentencing the culprit as the punishment for his crime attracted a fine of N7 million and a three-year jail term according to the Cyber Crime Act. He said the court tempered Justice with mercy because of the pleas of the culprit’s counsel that he has a family and he is a first time offend

The Nigeria Labour Congress has asked Nigerians to stock up on food as it will soon shut down the entire country. NLC said this in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council in Abuja on Tuesday.
In the communiqué signed by the President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, and its General Secretary, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, the union directed all affiliate unions, state councils, civil society allies, the informal sector and other friends of workers and lovers of democracy to commence immediate mobilisation of their members.
The NLC berated the government for its ‘no work, no pay’ policy, adding that what should have been implemented was ‘no pay, no work’.
The statement added, “The NEC advised Nigerians to start stocking up food and other necessities of life as workers will ensure a total shut down of the country.
The NEC-in-session similarly condemned the government for its design/plan to clamp down on labour via selective and erroneous invocation of the ‘no work, no pay” clause in the Trade Disputes Act, noting that the right to strike is both a human and trade union right and cannot be abridged as it is what distinguishes a worker from a slave.”
The NLC maintained that the national minimum wage must be N30,000 even as it accused the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, of insincerity. It also kicked against the fixing of tenure for workers holding union executive positions in contravention of the provisions of ILO Convention 87.
The union added, “the prohibition or exclusion of non-card carrying members of trade unions from leading or being part of negotiation delegations of trade unions reminiscent of the Abacha military era.” It also resolved to organise a national day of mobilisation and sensitisation rallies for all workers to show their outrage and mourning in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT on October 30, 2018.
“The day will also be used to educate and sensitise Nigerians to the horrendous plight of workers and pensioners, the insensitivity and duplicity of the government on labour issues, and to protest the proposed obnoxious policies of government against organised labour,” the NLC said. The union asked workers to disregard the ‘no work, no pay’ policy even as it restated its resolve to embark on a strike if the national minimum wage is not reviewed upward by November 6.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has said it will not attempt to oppress or suppress the organised labour.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son Olujonwo, has opened up on why he chose to campaign for Buhari ahead of 2019 election.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with PUNCH Newspaper, Olujonwo Obasanjo, the son of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, opened up on why he officially joined the President Muhamamdu Buhari campaign organization, despite his father endorsing his ex-vice president, Atiku Abubakar.
Here are excerpts from the chat;
How close are you to your father?
He is my best friend; my truest confidant. I am his private handbag and I love and respect him very much.
Your father is influential both within and outside the country and means different things to different people depending on their political affiliations. How do you and other family members view him?
To us, he is just dad, not different from any other great dad.
How will you describe former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a father?
My father is a kind and affectionate father. He is a devoted father and a sweet and gentle grandfather. He is a great man to have on your side.
His work and politics took him away a lot when my older siblings were growing up. But he tried harder with us the younger ones. He has also tried to catch-up with my older siblings.
Sharing him with the world has not been easy. But it is the way he is built. It is the destiny that was thrust upon him by nature itself. He has worked as hard as any man in his situation to give as much of his time and moments to us his children.
To be honest, the last few years have been the best that we have had. Less public limelight has allowed more of a private relationship with us his children. I cherish these moments.
You recently declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid in contrast to your father’s choice of Abubakar Atiku for President in 2019. What is your reason for your decision and did you carry your father along?
I joined the APC long before the PDP was reconstituted and before Alhaji Atiku emerged as its standard bearer. So, there is no relationship between my APC membership and my father’s forgiveness of his former vice president.
I am a proud member of the APC because I am progressive by instinct and ideology and because I believe in the progressive instincts of those who lead our party. I believe that our nation is better served by a politics that is progressive, that is one that works for the progress of all citizens and not merely for the interests of a few in power.
President Buhari, like my father, is a man of great conviction. He loves his country and he is committed to reshaping it for the future. He is a man of great humour too, by the way. He is a man l truly value and l have highest regard for him because he is a strong man of high and uncommon integrity, doesn’t betray and very reliable. He is very passionate and sincere about providing for the general good of all for long term benefits.
I just happen to believe in the capacity and will of President Buhari, Vice President (Yemi) Osinbajo and the leaders of our party to reposition and transform our country for concrete greatness which will lead to enduring and lasting legacy of a great and better life for everyone in the future. It is no more than that.
Does being the child of ex-President Obasanjo put any burden on you in terms of societal expectations?
None! I don’t indulge in societal expectations. I prefer to spend my time building a life and a career brick by brick, like every other Nigerian.
Would you have wished your father is anything else but a soldier?
Absolutely not! I am very proud of my father’s walks. I love the Army. It is the one constant source of pride to our nation. It has been our one constant bulwark against great insecurity and disintegration. It is the Army that continues to bear the brunt of the war against terror and militancy. When you and I are lying asleep at night or going about our business in the daytime, it is our Army that keeps Boko Haram and other forces of disintegration from disturbing our peace and security. I have the highest regard for our forces both the military and the Police Force and their incredible accomplishments with limited resources. I am grateful that my father got the chance to serve that great institution to the highest level.
What do you think he wants to be remembered for?
My father does not indulge in such things. He is too busy getting the day’s job done to worry about how he will be remembered. History will do its own bidding.

President Mulatu Teshome of Ethiopia filed resignation request to the Ethiopian parliament today.
Teshome, who has been the East African country’s head of state since October 2013, submitted his letter of resignation to the Ethiopian parliament’s two houses. They are scheduled to consider his resignation.
The houses would eventually name his successor in a joint extraordinary session on Thursday. The joint extraordinary session of the Ethiopian parliament on Thursday “will deliberate on the president’s application for resignation and will elect a new president.’’ according to ENA news agency.
The president, who conducted his doctoral studies in international law at Peking University in China, was unanimously appointed as Ethiopia’s president on October 7, 2013 while he was serving as Ethiopia’s ambassador to Turkey. Teshome is a member of Oromo Democratic Party, one of the four member parties of the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front.
His imminent resignation also came shortly after Ethiopian government’s cabinet reshuffle. The Ethiopian House of People’s Representatives, the Ethiopian parliament’s lower house, earlier approved the appointment of 16 new cabinet members upon the endorsement of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, in which only four of the previous cabinet’s members remained in their positions.
Teshome, 63, had served in various high-level Ethiopian government offices and ministries as deputy minister of economic development and cooperation, minister of agriculture, and spokesperson of the house of federation.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Moahmmed, has denied ever threatening Israel, if the country fails to repatriate Nnamdi Kanu.
Lai Moahmmed refuted claims on social media that he threatened that Nigeria would attack Israel if they do not repatriate leader of the proscribed secessionist group IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Reports of Lai Mohammed making the threat was rife on social media in the last few days after Kanu who had gone missing since last year September, resurfaced online.
Speaking to state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting today October 24th, Lai Mohammed said
“I was in London when I heard the story about Nnamdi Kanu surfacing in Israel. I was not in a position to make any statement. But before I knew it, within a few hours, I saw my picture with a story saying that I had actually given Israel ultimatum to return Nnamdi Kanu otherwise, we will send them missiles. I just laughed.
It speaks to what we are talking about fake news because it is probably the biggest threat in the run-up to the elections. Having said that, I have nothing more to add to the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. At the appropriate time, the various authorities will make a statement about the issue of Kanu”.
The man who has been accused of beating his banker wife to death, Lekan Shonde, has denied killing her but admitted slapping her a day before her corpse was found.
Lekan Shonde is standing trial for the alleged murder of Ronke before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Punch Metro.
It had earlier been reported that the 51-year-old Lekan allegedly beat his wife to death at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State.
He was said to have locked the door on the corpse and their two children before the incident was discovered by a nanny and later reported to the police.
At the Wednesday proceeding, while being led in evidence by his counsel, Robert Clarke (SAN), Lekan told the court that he was provoked when he overheard his wife talking to her lover.
He said:
“On May 5, 2016, I heard my wife speaking to someone on the telephone, saying, ‘Kayode, you’re sweet; what did you use in sleeping with me?’
“I was furious, so I slapped her from behind; she fell as a result of the slap. She later stood up, held me and said she was sorry. She went into the room to have her bath.
“She had earlier asked me to buy moin-moin and pap. So, when she came out of the bathroom, she asked me about the moin-moin and I told her that I would take my own moin-moin with garri, while she had her own with pap.
“Thereafter, I went to bed. But she said she was going downstairs to play a bit.
“When I woke up at midnight, I met her on the couch and I asked why she was still there. She said she would join me later and I went back to the room.
“On that day, when I was going out, I saw her on the couch with her phone beside her; I just dropped her transport money like I normally do, locked the door with my own key and left for work.
“Around 4pm, my cousin came to my place of work and he told me that my father asked him to inform me of my wife’s death. I left immediately, but the gridlock on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway did not allow me to get to Oshodi until past 9pm. I went to my father’s place in Ladipo with my cousin.”

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Tuesday said the ‘APC led administration’ has done better in power generation, transmission and distribution than the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did in 16 years of its administration.
The former Governor of Lagos State explained that the achievements of the present government would be better felt if compared with the ‘realities’ it met on ground when it took over the reign of power in 2015.
Fashola Said ;
“If you do not define your goal against your reality, progress will be difficult to recognise, as to where we were in 2015, power generation was averaging 4,000 MW; transmission was averaging 5,000 MW and distribution was averaging 3,000 MW.
“As to what we promised, I stated in my very first public briefing in November 2015 that contrary to previous practice, we were committing to a journey; first of getting incremental power, with the plan to proceed to steady power, and ultimately get uninterrupted power.
“I made it clear that our intention was to improve your power supply experience gradually rather than discuss the megawatts as quantum of power, and that any reference to the megawatts would be measuring milestones of our progress in the journey of incremental power.”
According to Business Insider, 95 Million Nigerians live without electricity
Although Mr Fashola said the nation has “moved the needle forward” and there is progress, the government has not finished its work, he said.
“How far we can go depends on what those of you who will decide who forms the next government do when you vote.
You will compare our record of three years with what we met after the previous 16 (sixteen) years. If you compare our performance record in three years with the 16 – year record of the previous administration in the areas of Generation, Transmission and Distribution you will get the following instructive results: Incremental Generation of 1000MW per year against 4000MW in 16 years which amounts to 250MW per year; Transmission capacity improvement by 666MW per year against 5000MW in 16 years which amounts to 312.5MW per year ; and Distribution capacity improvement by 740MW per year as against 3,000MW in 16 years which amounts to 187.5MW per year.
“You will also compare the resources available to us in the last three years, with what was available over the previous 16 years. In addition, you will have to ask yourself whether you are running your generator for longer or shorter periods today, than in 2015; and also whether you are spending more to buy fuel for your generator than three years ago.
“Those of you who are well-meaning and right thinking know the answers.”
Mr Fashola explained, however, that there are people still unserved or not well served, adding that “the good news is that there is a mechanism put in place by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to monitor complaints by Consumers with a total of 166,543 complaints resolved out of 262,096 from January to June 2018.”
The minister said Nigerians will also have to compare this government’s plans for tomorrow with the plan of the others, in relation to prospects for the future.
Mr Fashola disclosed that by end of this year, another 945 MW will be ready for supply from the following power plants: Azura (450MW), AFAM IV (240MW), Kaduna (215MW) and Kashimbilla (40MW). In addition, he said, between 2019 and first quarter of 2020, Zungeru (700MW) and Okpai II (450MW), both totalling 1,150MW, should come into operation.
On distribution challenges, the minister said 11 companies that distribute power were sold to private investors and it is their responsibility, not that of government, to supply distribution equipment like breakers, transformers and meters.

A middle-aged man, Lawan Faro, has climbed a billboard in Adamawa State and vowed to fall off if President Muhammadu Buhari does not resign within 12 hours.
Faro said his action was necessitated by the “extreme poverty” in the land.
“I think it’s time for Buhari to give way for someone like Atiku Abubakar to lead us out of the present hardship”, he cried.
He threatened to fall off after 12 hours if Atiku Abubakar does not show up to assure him of Buhari’s ouster in 2019.
“I will remain here for 12 hours to show my discontent, and someone not less than Atiku must come here to assure me that this government must be sacked in the forthcoming election.”
Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered at the bottom of the tall billboard hanger, chanting “Sai Baba Buhari!”
Faro’s action mirrors that of Nura Ilyasu, the man who climbed a telecommunications mast in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, last month to protest Buhari’s re-election bid.
Ilyasu eventually touched ground after 24 hours, after security operatives acceded to his request that he must address the press upon his descent.
“My name is Nura Ilyasu. I am 28 years old. What I did is within the purview of the law. My human right is to protest peacefully and I never threatened my life or any other person,” he said when he descended.
“What we are going through in this country is not from God. Some microscopic-view individuals hijacked all that God endowed Nigeria with for decent life, and we can’t continue like this.
I climbed up for seven days hunger strike to protest the incompetence and cluelessness, to protest presidential impunity and general docility displayed by the masses. We can’t continue like this.”
