Nigerian superstar singer, Bankole Wellington aka “Banky W”, has shared a rare story about his family while announcing his candidacy for a seat at the Federal House of Representatives.
According to Banky;
“In 1981, I was born to a father from Lagos, and a mother from Cross Rivers both of whom struggled and were it not for the Grace of God, had no business receiving University educations abroad. My Dad was an orphan. My mother’s story was not much different. She was born in Calabar, to a single mom, she was sent off to live with her relatives in Lagos”.
He went on to say;
Neither of them grew up in particularly fortunate circumstances… but they held on to a set of beliefs that I have since inherited.
In 1985, our family returned to Lagos. Like most families with a limited income, sacrifices had to be made. My parents realized at that time, that they couldn’t afford to rent a nice flat AND send us to a good school at the same time – it would be one or the other.
And so we attended Corona Primary school in Ikoyi, while we lived on the ground floor flat of a sinking building in Akoka, Yaba. We were classmates with children of the rich by day, and playmates with children of the street by night.
I remember during the peak of the raining seasons, our flat would literally get flooded and come up to about the knee level, and so Momsie would wake us up early to scoop water in buckets out of our home, before heading off to school and work.
But I went from Corona Primary school to Home Science Secondary school, and in 1999, just like my parents did, I gained admission into a University in the USA.
Reports on various media outlets have it that Nicki Minaj believes that Cardi B, or people associated with her, tried to assassinate her on the set of her new music video.
On Friday, at about 10:25 PM, police got a “shots fired” call and raced to the home. It was a Beverly Hills home where Tekashi 6ix9ine was shooting a music video with Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.
At the time, most people believed the shooters were aiming at controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine. But there are now reports that Nicki Minaj’s team are worried the bullets might have been meant for her and they suspect Cardi, or her supporters may be responsible.
MTO claims that one of Nicki’s trusted friends said to them, “Maybe that bullets were meant for Tekashi, but maybe it was meant for Nicki. [Cardi B] has a lot of crazy people around her.”
Also, according to TMZ, the bullets were fired towards what would have been Nicki Minaj’s dressing room. Luckily Nicki wasn’t on set yet.
Sources close to the production told TMZ that at least one bullet, possibly more, pierced the window of the master bedroom where Nicki and her crew were set to chill during the video shoot.

Nigerian singer Adokiye Kyrian might be more famous due to the sultry photos of herself she shares on her instagram than her actual music, but the real controversy she stirs among her fans is her claim of being a ‘virgin’.
The 27-year-old singer has explained to Sunday Scoop the reason for this:

Olanrewaju Beyioku, a 38-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested for defrauding the American Red Cross by claiming he was a Hurricane Harvey victim.
He was charged on Thursday in U.S. District Court with wire fraud on allegations he cashed $3,600 in federal disaster relief vouchers provided by the Red Cross in October 2017.
The American red cross offered the funds through a one-time cash payment of $400 after Hurricane Harvey struck Houston, Texas, on Aug. 25, 2017.
The victim was provided a reference code which could be redeemed for cash at Walmart locations. After the program launched in September 2017, the Red Cross received reports nonvictims were claiming the funds.
“The Red Cross has found over 3,300 reference codes that were fraudulently applied for via its website and used to obtain cash payments at Walmart stores,” records state. “The total loss to the Red Cross is over $1.3 million.”
Walmart security investigators determined 81 fraudulent transactions committed by two individuals at the Walmart in Hammond. The fraud totaled $32,400. After an investigation, federal authorities determined 9 of the transaction were conducted by Beyioku. He was identified in a photo array by a clerk at Walmart. Authorities also traced the ill-gotten money back to his bank accounts.

Controversial Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has revealed that the feud between her and popular blogger, Linda Ikeji is ffibally over.
Kemi who has been at Linda’s throat for years now took to her social media page to make the announcement.
She revealed that the bad blood between her and Linda started 13 years ago after Linda wrote a fake story about her. Recall that Kemi had accused Linda Ikeji of using the services of a surrogate to deliver her baby.
She also mocked Linda by wearing a moon bump alleging that it was what Linda wore to deceive people while claiming to be pregnant.

A Nigerian guy has been left to shed tears just few weeks before the end of the year after his apparently aggressive girlfriend burnt his passport which has his Australian visa in it.

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has killed several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in air strikes it conducted at Talala in Borno State.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information who disclosed this today in Abuja, said the operation was carried out on Friday.
He said the operation was carried out following credible intelligence reports that BHTs appeared to have relocated some of their fighters from the fringes of Lake Chad in Northern Borno to establish new camps along the Talala-Ajigin-Buk axis of the state.
“Series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of significant number of BHT fighters residing in makeshift shelters, camouflaged under thick vegetation on the outskirts of Talala. As a result, ATF dispatched two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the Camp in multiple waves, leading to destruction of some of the structures and killing of several BHTs,” he said.
The spokesman said the NAF, working in concert with surface forces, would sustain the tempo of operations in order to destroy all remnants of the terrorists in Borno.

Men of the Delta State Police Command Asaba have arrested three “Yahoo Boys” following a failed attempt on Monday to use their girlfriends for money rituals.
Daily Post reports that the suspected ritualists who live within Ifant Jesus area in Asaba had on Monday attempted to Use their girlfriends for alleged money rituals when the bubble burst after their failed move in the early hours.
The Commissioner of police in the state, Mustafa Muhammad, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Saturday in Asaba, said “they have been going out with the girls.
“They lavish money on them until the fateful Monday when they gave them water in pots to drink, one of them refused and immediately called her brother at the State CID and described the house to them, and the police mobilized to the house and arrested them in an apartment around Ifant Jesus area of Asaba”
The police Boss gave the suspects’ names as Tochukwu Tobi, 35, Ikedihua Emeka, 34, and Dennis Sylvia 35.
He added that the suspects having made useful statements to the police, were being detained for further investigation as they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
CP Muhammad disclosed that the police were working hard with a view to arresting other Yahoo boys in the state.
“The police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that all the Yahoo boys are brought to book, the police have enough reports on the Yahoo boys and we are closing in on them, very soon it will be history in the state,” he added.
It was further gathered that the state had in the recent times been invaded by Yahoo Yahoo Boys, especially in major cities like Asaba, Warri, Ughelli, Ibusa, Okpanam and Kwale towns.
One of the girls, who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Condition of anonymity said “I have been dating one of the suspects for three years now before the bubble burst.
“He used to give me money, and he told me that he is a business man unknown to me that he is a Yahoo, Yahoo man.”
A family of four, an unidentified man, his wife, daughter and mother in-law have been killed in ghastly accident in Anambra state.
The accident which involved a tipper lorry and Toyota Camry car, occurred Saturday morning at Nkwelle Ezunaka junction in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A source said the crash happened owing to a head on collision between the two automobiles.
The victims, who were said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital were confirmed dead on arrival.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the accident said the corpses of the victims had been deposited in a morgue. Mohammed said;
“There was an accident involving a Tipper and a Toyota Camry along Nkwelle Ezunaka junction in Onitsha.
“The accident occurred when the two vehicles had a head on collision. As a result of the accident, the Driver of the Toyota Camry, one Mr Godwin Akaeme and three other passengers in the car comprising his wife, daughter and female in-law whose names are still unknown sustained various degrees of injuries.”
He added, “Police Patrol team attached to 33 Division visited the scene and rushed casualties to Apex hospital for treatment but unfortunately all the four victims were certified dead by the medical doctor on arrival.”
The PPRO said the Tipper driver, one Ebuka Ekene, who sustained minor injuries was treated and subsequently arrested.

Former BBNaija housemate, Tobi Bakre has come out to say that he can only accept to act nude or play sex scene roles for Hollywood, but not in Nollywood.
In a recent interview with reporters, Tobi has these to say;
” What I love about acting is the fact that you have the power to be anything. If you are given a script whether you like the character or not, you have to act the part. Every role you are given has to be challenging because you have got to do it well. When they say be a mad man, I am able to lay it out.
For me when it comes to acting you have to be versatile, you can’t really limit yourself, except it is a role preaching immorality to a large extent I am not going to take that.
As for sex scenes roles, in Hollywood I would consider that, but not in Nollywood.”
Speaking on stars he admired before he joined the movie industry, Tobi mentioned why he loves Kunle Afolayan, Ramsey Nouah, AY, Genevieve, Rita Dominic. “I love them because they have done it back to back. And now that I am in the industry I know it is easy to criticize when you are outside, but when you are in it you will get to respect these actors more. Rapper and actor Falz has officially engaged the National Broadcasting Commission in a legal battle over the commission’s ban of his song ‘This Is Nigeria’.
In a recent set of documents obtained it is gathered that Falz has decided to sue the NBC for damages of up to N100 million after his song was placed on ban. The NBC had written a radio station in Jos and sanctioned the play of ‘This is Nigeria’ on the airwaves.
On November, 6th, Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law), who represent Falz in legal matters issue a case file against the NBC which reads as follows.
1. A declaration that the Defendant’s prohibition of the Plaintiff’s song titled “This Is Nigeria” from being aired by the Nigerian media outfits on the pretext that same is laced with vulgar lyrics is in flagrant breach of the Plaintiff’s right to the freedom of thought, conscience and expression as guaranteed under Sections 38 and 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and to that extent, such prohibition is unconstitutional, null and void.
2. An Order of this Honourable Court setting aside and/or vacating the decision of the Defendant as contained in the letter dated 6th August 2018 and lifting the ban or proscription of the use of the Plaintiff’s song titled, “This Is Nigeria” by any and all Nigerian media outfit/organizations.
3. The sum of N100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira to the Plaintiff on the footing of aggravated and exemplary damages for the wrongful and unconstitutional acts of the Defendant.
Nigerian music star, Dammy Krane has revealed what he learnt while he was jailed in Canada, last year over credit card fraud allegations.
In a chat with Showtime, the ‘Amin’ crooner revealed that the memories of the experience are still fresh in his mind. He said,
“I learnt three very important things after that experience; to appreciate God, family and my fans. Meanwhile there are a lot of friends turned family.”
He added that on his return to Nigeria after being certified innocent of the crime by the Canadian court of Law, instead of dwelling on negative comments from family members, industry colleagues, friends and fans, he focused more on the positive comments.

Controversial Instagram personality and speaker Oyemykke has come for Nigerian female Disc jockey, DJ Cuppy in his latest video, saying she should stick to DJing and quit singing.

Eight suspects allegedly selling Naira notes at different locations across Benin, Edo State, have been arrested.
While parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, said the “offence contravenes the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act,” which criminalises the sale of Nigerian currency.
Kokumo warned bankers partnering with the traders to desist from such act as the police would not relent in their effort to rid the state of persons dealing in the illicit business.
The sum of N12 ,580, 235 was recovered from the suspects identified as Franklin Izukwu, Bright Mugbeyoghe, Obi Alex, Elvis Iyomana, Osazee Osagede, Victoria Igbinos and Deborah Uwa.

A Zimbabwean man, Macdonald Zuze, who found out his wife of four-years Esther Mature was sleeping with one Kurauwone Kudzaushe in their matrimonial home, caused a scene after he invited his wife’s boyfriend to his house for sex.
The Zimbabwean man who stumbled upon her wife’s affair after going through her phone, reportedly works far from home and sometimes comes back weekend.
Speaking to H-Metro, he said;
“My marriage is a long distance one because I work out of Harare. I am usually based in Kadoma but I move from one city to another as a mechanic of earth moving trucks while my wife stays here in Harare.
“I have been suspicious that my wife was being unfaithful to me so I decided to take her phone to find out who she was communicating with.
“I became suspicious of a number that she had saved as Mai Takudzwa of which that number belonged to one Kurauwone with whom she was having an affair.
“I then sent a message to him and through our conversation that was when I realised that they were having an affair.
“Through that conversation that I had with Kurauwone, I found out that they had spent several nights at our matrimonial house.
In his pursuit to investigate his wife’s adulterous affair, Zuze said he then invited Kurauwone to the house for sex.
“I wanted to get to the bottom of this issue because I was shocked. I never suspected that my wife was cheating on me.
“So I invited Kurauwone to come to the house and he came to the shopping centre nearby and I went there after he described to me what he was wearing. I then went and took him and went with him to my house.
“It was unfortunate that our neighbours assaulted him but all I wanted was for him to explain what was going on between him and my wife.”
However his wife’s boyfriend who admitted having a sexual relationship with his estranged wife, disclosed that the woman lied to him that she was a single parent.
“I wouldn’t have had an affair with her if I knew that she was married; she lied to me that she was a single parent that is why I was dating her,” he said.

A recent victim of e-dating scam, identified as Mrs terry, is currently heartbroken after she found out that her online lover, Mr. Jeffery, who she sent all her money to, is an online fraudster.
The victim who went to seek relationship counsel at the hands of popular american talk show host, Dr phil, burst into uncontrollable tears while professing her undying love for Mr. Jeffery who told her he was a California based businessman.
Tragedy was said to have struck when Mr Jeffery suddenly went into the blue after she pumped some serious amount of money into his bank account.
She later discovered on Dr Phil’s show that Jeffery was a Nigerian based fraudster who operated from his base in Ekpoma, Edo state after his true location was exposed.
