3 months old baby dies in hot car after his mother forgot he was there

A three-month-old baby has died after being left in a hot car when his mother forgot to drop him off at nursery.

Aiden Miller’s father Aaron revealed that the boy’s mother only realised something was amiss when she finished her shift and wanted to enter her car but could smell his body.

He told Wave TV: ‘She said she opened the car door and was like “what is that smell?” and she noticed Aiden was still in the back seat.’

Police said emergency personnel received a call seeking medical aid for an unresponsive infant outside a business. They are now investigating the death.

Aiden was pronounced dead at a hospital in the city just north of Louisville, Kentucky. Mr Turner said the child’s mother was supposed to drop their two children off at different daycare centres.

The mother dropped her daughter off, but Aiden remained in the car’s back seat in the car park outside her workplace.

He added: “I still don’t understand how that happened. Obviously it happens. It just happened in my family. It doesn’t get any closer to home than this.

“Keep in mind that that baby is the number one priority. It is inexcusable for any kid to have to go through and for parents to have to lose a child like this.”

Tears of joy as Chinese woman tricked by Nigerian boyfriend into carrying drugs is found not guilty after three years in jail (Photos)

A Chinese woman Li Dandan, was on Thursday, July 26, found not guilty of drug trafficking by Hong Kong Court after three years of uncertainty.

Hong Kong prosecutors said the single mother, now 33, had trafficked 1,934 grams of methamphetamine, a drug more commonly known as Ice, worth HK$580,000 (US$73,900).

On November 7, 2015, Li was intercepted at Hong Kong International Airport while en route to Malaysia to help deliver clothing samples for her Nigerian boyfriend identified as IK, who said he would set up business in her home province of Guangdong.

The drugs were found stored in a hidden compartment sewn into the linings of her backpack.

However, the Guangzhou native claimed she had been conned to make deliveries for her Nigerian boyfriend, whom she had trusted.

“I dated this Nigerian man because he did not smoke or drink. He struck me as a hardworking person. I could not believe he was a drug trafficker.”

Meanwhile, Li’s counsel, Leung Chun-keung, argued it was possible his client did not know about the hidden compartment as she was not professionally trained like customs officers to detect abnormalities in bag linings.

In these photos taken yesterday, Li Dandan pulled her mother in a tight embrace as soon as she emerged from a Hong Kong court’s cell holding unit, free at last from a drug trafficking case hanging over her head for three years.

Beside them stood prison chaplain Father John Wotherspoon, who had waited anxiously for Li’s release, having spent the past two years helping the Guangzhou native prove her innocence.

“I’m very happy,” he said tearfully after learning of Li’s acquittal. “I’m hoping her case can help the other drug mules appeal.”

Wotherspoon since 2013 has been working on a “name and shame” project, identifying and exposing drug lords operating through and in the city. His efforts came as he travelled the world to help drug mules facing trial.

Wotherspoon said Li was highly vulnerable in light of her divorce.

“So when he offered her a relationship, she trusted him,” he said. “She thought he was a real boyfriend.”

To help prove her innocence, Wotherspoon travelled to Malaysia, Bangkok, Thailand, and Guangzhou to track down IK, with the Nigerian’s picture in hand.

He visited the restaurant and hotel where they stayed together, found his address in Malaysia, and passed on the information to Hong Kong police. At trial, he testified for the defence as a character witness.

The Roman Catholic priest claimed about 20 mainland women had fallen victim to African drug lords over the past decade – and Li was one of them.

Peace. Serenity.

In her interview, Adesua charms with her wit, intelligence, beauty, and talent as she shares her thoughts on married life, space travel and so much more.

Read excerpts from her interview below:

If you could, at this very moment, go anywhere – with no limits – where would you go and why?: I’d go to space. I’m very curious about the things that I can’t see and things I haven’t experienced. I know that there are many places on earth but I’m very curious about space and particularly envious of people that have been. They’ve experienced what most people have never – and will never – experience.

Do you agree that if you share your private life with the rest of the world, it is no longer yours alone?: I don’t necessarily agree with that because it depends on what is consistently shared. People share what they are comfortable with and withhold what they’d rather keep private. I can see the rationale behind it, but I don’t think it’s so black and white.

Nigerian man nabbed in India with 155.5 grams of cocaine (Photo)

With specific information of cocaine smuggling, the NCB team was waiting for his arrival from Mumbai.

The drug was brought to Mumbai by an unidentified man hiding it in his stomach and was later handed over to Chukwudu to be brought to Bengaluru.

According to a press release by the NCB, Bengaluru, the value of the contraband is said to be around Rs 93 lakh in the international market.

Watch how thief expertly steals an iPhone from an office while everyone was looking and walked away without anyone noticing

A thief walked into an office recently and stole a worker’s iPhone while all other workers were looking at him and not one of them noticed.

The man walked into Angel Homes and Lettings, on London Road in Southend, pretending to ask for directions – in his hand was a large map and with it, he expertly stole an iPhone lying in plain sight.

He leaned over the desk of an employee as he asked for direction, and as he did, he placed the map over the phone. As employees helped to direct him, he deftly lifted the phone under the map and held it with the map hiding it.

It wasn’t until after he left the office that the employee realized his phone was missing. When they looked through a CCTV footage, they discovered how the man they thought they were helping had played a fast one on them.

The letting agency shared the footage of the incident as a warning to others.

“We will be eternally grateful if anyone can identify him,” the agency wrote. “It appears he has been doing the same thing around lots of local businesses so please beware.”

Woman Filming Storm Struck By Lightning, But Saved By Her iPhone Cover (Photos)

A 42-year-old woman identified as Tracey Kutluol, has been camptured on camera in a video which shows the moment she claims she was struck by lightning as she filmed a storm from the upstairs window of her home, screaming and repeatedly shouting ‘I’ve been hit by lightning’ in the dramatic footage filmed on her mobile.

According to Dailymail UK, Kutluol, escaped without injury, which she credits to a new phone cover she had clipped to her iPhone 7 plus earlier that day.

The video footage opens with a series of dramatic flashes and thunderclaps as Kutluol films from an upstairs window. At one point, a voice can be heard joking ‘I might get electrocuted’. There follows another warning to be careful – which is brushed away with the remark: ‘You like a storm.’

Seconds later there is an enormous flash and massive bang followed by a scream from Tracey as she drops the phone. At least one other person can be heard giving a prolonged scream.

Kutluol can then be heard sobbing over and over: ‘I’ve been hit by lightning’ before the clip cuts out.
She has revealed that she had escaped without injury but was very shocked by her brush with death.

She said:

‘The phone is working fine with not one mark on the case. I had a tingling in my hand and arm for a bit. The phone case I got yesterday morning and it’s got a pop socket attached which is rubber…so we think it’s hit the rubber

I’m still in shock…I had to try keep everyone calm. I had my 10-year-old screaming for the cat…my pal having a panic attack and my 14-year-old daughter thinking the house was going to blow up.

‘I told them all to go down stairs to my bedroom as we live in a 3-level with the living room on the top. Then we went to each room and pulled all the plugs out ‘

Twitter shares tumbles 17% as monthly users decline

Twitter shares tumbles

Twitter shares tumbled by 17% after a drop in their monthly users was announced.

The company’s stock declined today as quarterly results showed a drop in users of the messaging platform, overshadowing news of a third straight quarterly profit.

Reports that the monthly active users fell by one million from the past quarter to 335 million in the period amid a purge of fake accounts and a crackdown on “bots” that manipulate the platform, overshadowed a profit of $100 million in the second quarter as revenue rose 24 percent to $711 million.

Shares in Twitter slumped 16 percent in pre-opening trades in a market jittery following a weak outlook from social network leader Facebook.

Chief executive Jack Dorsey said the results reflect investments “in the long-term health” of Twitter, noting efforts to weed out violence and inappropriate behavior. Dorsey said;

“Our second quarter results reflect the work we’re doing to ensure more people get value from Twitter every day,”

“We want people to feel safe freely expressing themselves and have launched new tools to address problem behaviors that distort and distract from the public conversation.”

Twitter in recent weeks has stepped up efforts to weed out accounts that promote violence or hate speech, and some reports suggested this could lower the user base by millions.

The company has said most of the blocked accounts were revoked within the first 30 days, and thus not part of the user base count.

Carl Ikeme retires from football after battle with Cancer

Carl Ikeme retires

Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has announced his retirement from football after months of battling with Acute Leukamia.

The 32-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper made 274 domestic career appearances in all competitions, with over 200 of them coming for Wolves, the club he joined in 2000 as a 14-year-old.

His retirement was confirmed by Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi on the Club’s website.

“Having been at the club since the age of 14, Carl is far more than just a player in our eyes – he is our brother and an important part of our family.

“When Carl came to tell us his news, yes there was sadness, but also great happiness to see him so healthy and hungry for the opportunities that lay ahead of him.

“Carl is strong, a fighter, something he has proven in his playing career and also during what has been a very challenging time for him, so I have no doubt he will be a success in whatever he does next.

“We wish Carl all the very best for the future, but remind him he will always remain a part of the Wolves family.”

Wolves managing directorLaurie Dalrymple said:

“While this news will undoubtedly leave the Wolves family feeling sadness for someone they care about deeply, it also gives us the opportunity to celebrate an exceptional career and a true servant of this football club.

“A brilliant goalkeeper who deservedly earned promotions and international caps, Carl’s exemplary application on the pitch was matched off it by tireless hard work and a positive attitude that will continue to be an inspiration for young players coming through our Academy for many years to come.

“I have been in touch with Carl regularly during a very difficult year for him and his family, and I have been constantly in awe of his strength, positivity and heart at a time of great adversity.

“Carl will, without doubt, be a permanent member of the Wolves family, and I am certain he has a very bright future ahead of him in whatever path he chooses to take.”

Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell said:

“I have had the honour and privilege to work alongside Carl for the duration of my time at Wolves, and you would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated and hard working professional.

“The outpouring of support and love from our supporters this time last year, and throughout Carl’s treatment has been testament to how we all feel about Carl, and we are delighted that he is now in complete remission.

“However, it is definitely his contribution on the pitch that he will be most remembered for at Wolves, and forever held as inspiration to future generations of our Academy.

“I’m looking forward to seeing more of Carl this season, and seeing him back at Molineux where he belongs.”

The President, who spoke at the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 40 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, assured of his administration’s efforts to take Nigeria to higher.

“May I assure you of this administration’s effort to return our country on the path of peace and prosperity,” he said.

Buhari, who recalled his campaign promises during the last general elections, assured of his administration’s commitment to return the country to the path of peace and prosperity.

He said: “I made three key promises to Nigerians. First is to address the various security challenges facing our country; second, to reposition our economy and third to fight the serious challenge of corruption, which had eaten so deep into the very fabric that sustain our nation.

“On the issue of security, we recognize that security challenges abound in all countries of the world, including Nigeria.

I am certain, with the consistent efforts of our security agencies; these challenges shall be considerably mitigated and minimized.”

The President said the citizenry cannot be absolved of the blame as well in the nation’s woes.

His words: “The change we desire in Nigeria actually starts with us as individuals. In Nigeria, there is the tendency to lay the blame for the state of affairs in the country on the doorsteps of leaders alone.

“Yes, leaders have a major role to play in providing direction and the enabling environment. However, the citizens’ role also is vital in attaining meaningful transformation of any society.”

The President hailed the military for their sacrifice, saying:

“Over the years, the Nigerian Armed Forces have provided the appropriate response to the numerous security challenges facing our country.

“Their response to Boko Haram insurgency, militancy, kidnapping, activities of separatists and armed militias, amongst others, have been very commendable.

“The military has also committed huge resources towards stability of the West African sub-region and world peace in general.

“Our efforts in Liberia and Sierra Leone, which stabilized the West African sub-region readily come to mind.

“More recently, our armed forces have also contributed to the peace in The Gambia, Mali and South Sudan.

“It, therefore, goes without saying that a force that is extensively committed to the maintenance of local, national, regional and world peace needs to be adequately prepared to confront security challenges as they emerge.”

Buhari said his administration will give attention to training in the military.

His words: “It is pretty obvious that our dear nation is having its fair share of security challenges.

“However, it is important to reiterate that capacity building remains the bedrock of combat ready, effective and efficient military.

“Incidentally, our tri-service training institutions, especially the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, have been playing critical roles in this regard.

“These institutions, as well as the single-service training institutions, must continue to be provided with the requisite support to enable them to discharge their obligations.

“To this end, the Federal Government will continue to give priority to the training and welfare of officers and men of our armed forces.

“This is not only because we salute their courage and sacrifice for the safety and stability of our country, but because the armed forces of Nigeria have continued to be the bastion of our unity.”

The President also said he was delighted to observe that amongst the graduating students are 11 international officers from various African countries. He, therefore, called for partnership among African countries to tackle security challenges facing the continent.
