While many celebrated Messi’s achievement, some questioned whether he truly deserved the award.

Amid the ongoing debate, Katia Aveiro, aged 46, seems to have expressed agreement with a post stating that Ronaldo earned all his awards, subtly taking a jab at Messi following his recent win.

The post, shared on Instagram, showed Ronaldo, 38, posing with his numerous awards, which included three UEFA Men’s Player of the Year awards, four European Golden Shoes, and five Ballon d’Ors.

The post was captioned, “Earned, not given”. Interestingly, Aveiro liked the post and added five clapping emojis.

Last year, she took to social media to describe the World Cup as ‘the worst ever’. She, however, later made a U-turn, acknowledging the quality of the final match and congratulated Argentina.

A Nigerian man has been left stranded and facing possible deportation after his wife took their kids and abandoned him at an airport in the UK.

A user with the handle @Jayydubby shared the man’s plight on the ‘Nigerians in the UK’ community on the microblogging platform, X (formerly Twitter).

According to the user, the man sold all his belongings to sponsor his wife’s relocation to the UK for study in 2022, with the intention of joining her later with their children as her dependents.

Upon their arrival in the UK in October, he received a huge shock when his wife took the kids and their passports, and told him that their marriage was over.

Sadly, the young man now finds himself stranded without a job or means to stay in the UK. He has been given until January 2024 to leave the country, or he will be deported.

“Hello everyone,

A family friend of mine is in urgent need of a job with sponsorship. Last month, he arrived in the UK with his children as dependents and his wife went to pick them up at the airport and asked to see their children’s passports, which he handed over without any suspicion. She then told him that their marriage was over and wanted nothing to do with him. She took their children and abandoned him at the airport. He just come to the UK for the first time to join his wife, who came last year to study. He helped pay her fees and sold off everything he had to join her.

Today, the Home Office sent him a letter saying that he has until 1st of January, to return to Nigeria. He has nothing to go back to and may never see his children again.

I am pleading with anyone who can help him with a job referral so that he can stay and fight for his children. If you know of any job openings or can put him in touch with someone who might be able to help, please reach out to me. I would be incredibly grateful. 🙏🏼😥”

Popular Nigerian singer, Victor AD has finally opened up about the events that followed rumours that he was the writer of Davido’s popular song “Jowo.”

Recall that a while back, claims went viral on social media that Victor AD claimed Davido had stolen his hit song “Jowo” from him in a studio session.

Victor AD, however, disclosed that Davido had questioned him about why he would say such a thing when the accusations began to circulate but he denied being the source of the rumours.

The Warri-born music singer confirmed that he didn’t write the song, as was widely believed in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos.

The ‘Tyre You’ crooner claims that his connection with the DMW chief was nearly destroyed by fake reports found on blogs.

He said:

“From nowhere, someone speculating that Victor AD wrote [Davido’s] ‘Jowo.’ I’m not social media-savvy. Most times, before I notice happenings on social media, it would be two days after the matter has trended.

My manager actually called my attention to the ‘Jowo’ controversy on social media but I didn’t take it seriously. Later on, I said let me just check the trend on social media. Then a few hours later, I saw Davido’s message. He was like, ‘Whatsup na? Wettin dey sup with this whole ‘Jowo’ thing?’. And I said I didn’t know anything about it.

Controversial Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti has rubbished AY Makun’s justification over his recent allegations of calling his daughter a dog.

Recall that the Afrobeats singer made headlines on Wednesday, November 1, after he expressed his displeasure with AY and accused him of referring to his daughter as a dog in a comedy skit.

He also criticised AY for using his ‘trials and tribulations’ to mock him, referring to his confrontation with a police officer on Third Mainland Bridge a few months ago.

Reacting to the accusations from Seun Kuti, AY Comedian emphatically stated that he didn’t refer to Seun’s child as a dog and it was a misconception.

He explained that he waited on God for a child for 13 years and can’t be one to mock a human being, let alone a child. He said the comedy skit he filmed in June was a fusion of Seun’s clash with the police and the incident involving Guinness Record holder, Hilda Baci, and Enioluwa, where they were criticized by dog lovers for eating dog meat in Cross River state.

AY’s explanations did not sit well with Seun, who continued to berate him for his untimely joke.

He wrote,

Former CBN governor, Emefiele, faces arrest threat as judge demands explanation for $53m debt

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been given a deadline of January 25 to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja to provide an explanation regarding a $53 million judgment debt arising from the Paris Club refund.

Justice Inyang Ekwo warned that if Emefiele fails to appear, a warrant for his arrest would be issued.

Emefiele’s counsel, Audu Anuga, informed the court that his client’s appearance had been hindered as he was still in custody.

The judgment debt of $70 million was being pursued by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joe Agi, through a proceeding against the CBN, with the aim of recovering the debt from Linas International Limited and the Minister of Finance.

The CBN had already paid part of the debt, leaving a balance of $53 million.

Despite repeated orders from Justice Ekwo, Emefiele had failed to appear before the court.

In response to the plea by Emefiele’s lawyer, the judge expressed his determination to enforce compliance with court orders, emphasizing that Emefiele must appear.

The Legal Department of the CBN filed an affidavit on Emefiele’s behalf, stating that he had been in the custody of the Department of State Services since June 10.

However, the court maintained that Emefiele’s absence did not exempt him from contempt proceedings.

The judge adjourned the matter until January 25, providing an opportunity for Emefiele to demonstrate why an arrest warrant should not be issued against him.

The court stressed the importance of compliance with its orders and allowed time for the opposing party to respond to the process.

Popular Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, has questioned president Tinubu’s choice to buy a presidential yacht.

The comedian has frequently voiced his support for the Tinubu administration, to the point that his daughter has gotten death threats as a result of his connection.

However, a few days ago, it was revealed through the release of an additional loan budget that the presidency had allocated N5 billion for a presidential boat.

This budget has brought about concern from the general public, especially as the economic situation in the country is dwindling and many are struggling to survive.

Man sentenced to life imprisonment for rap!ng his girlfriend’s teenage daughter

In a landmark judgment, the Thabamoopo Regional Court in Limpopo, South Africa, has sentenced Moganedi Sello Koos, a 40-year-old man, to life imprisonment for the rape of his girlfriend’s 16-year-old daughter.

Koos was also found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances, leading to an additional 15-year sentence. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

According to Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the spokesperson for the Limpopo provincial police, the horrific incident occurred on April 16, 2017, at Magatle village.

At the time, the teenager was home alone while her mother attended a candlelight vigil at the cemetery.

Exploiting the absence of the girl’s mother, Koos forcefully entered the house, brandishing a knife and threatening the victim with harm if she did not comply.

Under duress, the young girl was subjected to a terrifying ordeal as Koos ordered her to undress before raping her.

Following the assault, he callously stole two cellphones from her and fled the scene. The victim promptly reported the crime to the police, who initiated investigations into the incident.

Sergeant Mogale Billy of the family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit in Mokopane took charge of the case.

In June 2020, Koos was implicated in the crime through DNA evidence, leading to his subsequent arrest.

The diligent efforts of the investigating officer ensured that the accused was denied bail until his conviction.

In addition to the severe prison sentences, Koos has been declared unfit to possess a firearm, and his details will be registered in the National Register for Sexual Offences.

The ruling sends a resounding message that crime will not go unpunished.

North Dakota woman charged with murdǝr after poison!ng boyfriend over $30 million inheritance

A shocking incident unfolded in Minot, North Dakota, as Ina Thea Kenoyer, a 47-year-old woman, was charged on Monday with the murder of her boyfriend, Steven Edward Riley Jr., 51.

The arrest came after an investigation into Riley’s untimely demise on September 5, 2023.

According to police records, the tragedy began to unravel when Riley met with his lawyer on September 3 to collect a substantial inheritance sum, rumored to be around $30 million.

Witnesses informed investigators that Riley fell ill shortly after this meeting.

However, it wasn’t until the following day, September 4, that Kenoyer finally contacted emergency services. Paramedics arrived at Riley’s residence to find him unresponsive.

Tragically, Riley passed away at the hospital on September 5.

An autopsy later revealed that he had ingested a lethal dose of antifreeze, leading law enforcement to suspect foul play.

Allegations surfaced that Kenoyer had intentionally fed him the toxic substance.

In the days leading up to her arrest, Kenoyer took to social media to proclaim her innocence, asserting that Riley had taken his own life.

She also claimed entitlement to the inheritance as Riley’s common-law wife, despite North Dakota not recognizing such relationships.

Complicating matters further, Riley had apparently intended to end their romance shortly after receiving his windfall, prompting investigators to theorize a motive for the alleged poisoning.

Riley’s grieving son expressed his sorrow on Facebook and hoped that justice would be served.

She now faces the most severe murder charge in North Dakota, and she is currently being held without bond at the Ward County Detention Center.

It all began when the actor took to Twitter to declare that his alma mater, Achimota School, would defeat Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) in the 2023 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition.

He also pledged to walk barefoot backward from Ayawaso West Wuogon to PRESEC school in Ghana if they beat his alma mater.

Unfortunately, his bold declaration didn’t come to pass as Achimota School was defeated by PRESEC in the math competition on Monday, October 30.

Nigerian crossdresser, Daniel Anthony Nsikan, popularly known as Jay Boogie, has once again taken to social media to call out a plastic surgeon, one Dr. Dinma, following a botched surgery.

It was earlier reported that Jay Boogie, who claims to have transitioned into a woman and identifies as a transgender, is currently in a critical condition after suffering complications from a plastic surgery carried out in a hospital in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The social media influencer had earlier accused the surgeon of trying to kill him and told Nigerians to hold her responsible if he doesn’t survive.

Jay Boogie continues

A Namibia-based Nigerian doctor, Loveth Jennifer, who confirmed the incident, also disclosed that Jay Boogie hasn’t been able to pass urine for 24 hours after the procedure, and that the hospital is claiming that he has kidney issues.

Well, Jay Boogie again took to social media on Thursday morning to accuse the surgeon of using people as lab rats without having adequate medical knowledge.

He posted a short clip of himself receiving consultation at the hospital and wrote,

“You opened a facility, using people for trials and errors ( lab rats). With zero medical knowledge”

A Nigerian doctor has taken to social media to call out a surgeon who reportedly performed a botched surgery on crossdresser, Daniel Anthony Nsikan, better known as Jay Boogie, in Lekki, Lagos.

This comes a few hours after Jay Boogie himself went online to cry out about having a medical emergency. He stated that a plastic surgeon who works at Curvy Girl Essentials hospital should be held responsible if anything happens to him. Read more here

A doctor who is based in Namibia, Dr. Loveth Jennifer, has now shed more light on the situation. She disclosed that Jay Boogie is in a critical condition and has not been able to urinate for 24 hours following the cosmetic procedure.

She also revealed that the surgeon, identified as Dr. Dinma, dumped Jay Boogie in a low-standard hospital and is now claiming that he has kidney problems.

Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has said that he thinks he has done enough to be inducted into the Afrobeats Hall of Fame.

He stated that while he doesn’t want to stop making music anytime soon, his name would still be on the Afrobeats Bible if he did so at this moment.

Rema expressed this in a recent interview with i-D Magazine’s fourth edition of The New Wave issue.

The 23-year-old claimed he would be on the cover of the New Testament if there was an Afrobeats bible.

Rema said;

“I’m not saying I want to stop. But if I say I want to stop right now, my name is still going to be on the Afrobeats bible, if there is an Afrobeats bible to be dropped. I’ll literally be in the New Testament, on the front page.”

The “Calm Down” singer also talked about how, after becoming famous in 2019, people made fun of him for having a Bollywood soundtrack-like sound, but the ridicule eventually turned into a blessing.

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Skales has said that despite being the greatest artiste, he remains underappreciated in the music industry.

The 32-year-old rapper made this statement during a conversation on the Hip TV show Trending, which is hosted by reality TV personality KimOprah.

Skales said that fans weren’t giving him enough credit and discussed his struggles in the early stages of his career with poor self-esteem.

He also stated that he is one of the Nigerian artistes who helped Afrobeats get international recognition.

His statement was a mixture of lamentation and self-appraisal, as he believes himself to be the current “it” guy who is underappreciated for his skill.

He said:

“I just rediscovered myself from 2020. I’ve been dealing with a lot of low self-esteem. Even while I have all the big songs in the world, I still doubt myself. But now, I’m more confident.

Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has stirred reactions online after he called Instagram blogger, Tunde Ednut, “aburo”.

Tunde Ednut had taken to his Instagram page to praise Davido for scouting new signee, Morravey while informing the public of her upcoming EP.

A video of the hilarious moment veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, pranked her colleague, actor Emeka Enyiocha, with a car gift, has been shared online.

In the video, Rita handed the key to her colleague and told him that she bought the car as a gift for him. He was initially in disbelief but she assured him that the car belonged to him, while expressing her love for him.

Emeka, who was understandably shocked by the car gift, asked her to send a message confirming that the car is truly his, which she did.

The message reads,

“Emeka I saw you in my dream and I was instructed by the Holy Spirit to dash you this car and I’ve given you this car.

No matter what, this car belongs to you. Even if I come to take this car back, this text will show that you have got the car.”

This apparently convinced him that she genuinely bought the car for him. However, he received a rude shock when she took back the car keys and revealed that it was all a prank.

He was mildly upset by this, but he handled the joke quite well.

Tragedy strikes as building collapse claims life of 13-year-old girl in Ekiti State

A devastating incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, October 31, 2023, as an old one-storey building collapsed in Igede-Ekiti, resulting in the tragic death of a 13-year-old girl and injuring four others.

The incident occurred in the Odo-Ori area of the community, shaking the residents and prompting urgent rescue efforts.

The building, which had stood for decades, crumbled around 2 a.m, leaving a family of five trapped inside.

Neighbors acted swiftly and managed to rescue the parents and two siblings, who were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Sadly, the young girl lost her life in the tragic incident.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathy, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, described the event as agonizing and devastating. During his visit to the site of the collapse, the Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of occupants in dilapidated buildings across the state.

Representing Governor Oyebanji, Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye visited the Adeyinka Adebayo General Hospital to extend sympathies to the victims and wish them a speedy recovery.

The Governor assured that the government would cover the medical expenses of the victims and directed the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (EKSEMA) to provide an alternative habitable residence for the affected family.

To prevent similar tragedies, Governor Oyebanji announced that the Ministry of Physical and Urban Planning would begin enforcing strict regulations to evacuate residents from dangerously inhabitable buildings throughout the state.

14-year-old girl arrested in connection with brutal murdǝr of FUTMINNA lecturer

Tragedy struck in Minna, Niger state as a 14-year-old girl named Joy Afekafe was apprehended for her involvement in the gruesome murder of Dr. Fumilola Adefolalu, a respected lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 28, leaving the community in shock.

During her parading at the Bosso Police Station, Joy shockingly confessed to the crime.

She revealed that her motive was to confront and physically assault the late lecturer, who had reportedly sent her away from her residence.

The young suspect explained that she had arrived at the deceased’s house accompanied by two classmates, identified as Walex and Smart.

According to Joy, their initial intention was to teach the lecturer a lesson.

However, they soon realized that she would report them if left alive.

In a chilling turn of events, the trio resorted to stabbing Dr. Adefolalu repeatedly, using knives they had brought with them.

The victim’s desperate cries for help echoed through the house as she pleaded for mercy.

Joy explained the horrific details, stating that they stabbed the lecturer in her stomach, hands, and legs while she repeatedly cried out for help.

After the brutal attack, they looted her belongings, taking her phone, laptop, and even her car battery, before making their escape on a motorcycle.

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Joy Afekafe, an SS 2 student at Day Secondary School, Gidan Kuka.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Wasiu, announced that efforts are underway to apprehend her accomplices, Walex and Smart.

The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

Serial rap!st sentenced to 102 years imprisonment by Polokwane High Court in South Africa

In a landmark ruling, the Polokwane High Court has sentenced 28-year-old Evans Ramahlo, a notorious serial rapist known as “Killer,” to an astounding 102 years behind bars.

Ramahlo was convicted on charges of robbery with firearms and rape, ending a reign of terror that shook the Motupa village community.

Between January and November 2021, residents of Bolobedu South, under the Tzaneen policing area, lived in fear as Ramahlo and an accomplice targeted couples strolling the village at night.

Armed and dangerous, they would rob their victims of valuables, including cellphones, and subject the female victims to brutal sexual assaults in front of their partners.

The assailants even targeted couples in motor vehicles, forcing male victims to engage in sexual acts with their partners after raping them.

The relentless efforts of the Limpopo police led to the arrest of Ramahlo on February 14, 2022. DNA evidence further linked him to three additional cases in the same area, solidifying his guilt.

The diligent investigation, carried out by Sergeant Glenda Mathebula and the Tzaneen tracing team, played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrator to justice.

During the sentencing, the court imposed 13 years of imprisonment for each of the four counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, resulting in a total of 52 years.

Additionally, Ramahlo received 25 years for each of the two rape charges, with five years suspended, contingent on him not being convicted of rape during the suspension period.

The court ordered that these sentences run concurrently, ensuring a severe punishment for his heinous crimes.
