“Don’t we have more pressing issue rather choose where musicians shoot their video?”, he queried.
A Kwara Polytechnic graduate of Agriculture has been arrested during a foiled robbery operation at a Lotto company in Ajagbadi area of Lagos, yesterday.
The 22-year-old Suspect, identified as Saidi Ayemojuba, burst into tears when he was informed that his pregnant wife had been delivered of a baby.
He who confessed that he joined a robbery gang due to frustration, explained that he went for the operation at the lotto company with the hope of using its proceed to prepare for his baby’s arrival, after which he would quit robbery.
He disclosed that he started with a gang which specialised in attacking passengers who were leaving early for their respective places of work, four years ago. Narrating his gang’s modus oparandi, Ayemojuba whose operational name is Aleeba, meaning I can’t be caught in Yoruba dialect, said at times, members of his gang would mount a motorbike , only to snatch it from its rider, half away into the journey .
Thereafter, the motorbike according to him, would be sold at give away price to ready buyers with the proceeds shared among those that partook in the operation.
At other times, he said that members of the gang would position themselves at Cassidy bus-stop along Mile 2/Badagry expressway as early as 4.30am, pretending to be passengers.
They would board a commercial bus, only to order the driver to stop half way , where innocent passengers would be dispossessed of their valuables.
Journey to prison
However, during one of the operations at Iyana Sashi, he was arrested three years ago after members of his gang intended to snatch a bag from a woman. Ayemojuba was arrested and charged to court , from where he was sent to prison.
Upon his discharge, he told Vanguard that he joined another robbery gang which leader he met in prison.
According to him:
“ I decided to quit robbery when I came back from prison. But I could not find any good job even with my certificate.
One day, I got a call from an inmate I met while in prison.
He told me there was a job he would like me to execute. I met with other members of the gang . One of the members of a worker at a Lotto company at Ajagbadi, who told us that they usually left money. We stormed the place at about 1pm . I stood at a vantage position, where I was given a bag containing the money. But one of the ladies in the company ran out and raised the alarm which led to my arrest.
Others managed to escaped. I was beaten until I passed out, only to find myself at the police station. One regret I have is not to have welcomed my new baby to the world. I don’t know what they would tell her. I thought of using the lotto money to prepare for her arrival, after which I intended to quit robbery finally.
I am naturally not a bad boy because anytime I came back from operation, a gush of guilt will overwhelm me. I went into this out of frustration. No job, even after having my HND”

A senior civil servant in the employment of Benue State, Godwin Oga, has resorted to hawking cooked groundnuts to be able to take care of his family.
The 46-year-old staff of Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency (BENSESA), revealed that he started the business in June, after he was unable to provide food for his family, following government’s in ability to pay salaries for several months.
He said:
“I have so far spent 15 years in service with BENSESA and have also been screened in the ongoing state government screening exercise. I started this groundnut business earlier in June this year to prevent hunger and starvation of my family and to buy medications”
The father of three added that despite being a laughing stock, he preferred the business to stealing, urging other civil servants in the same situation as his, to also seek alternative means of survival.
According to the reports, the Benue State government has not paid its workers for over eight months while local government workers and teachers are being owed a backlog of salaries running into one year just as pensioners have not received their stipends in over 15 months.
The state Governor, Samuel Ortom, had early this year, given out hundreds of wheelbarrows to the youths as part of his empowerment programs and the action had drawn wide condemnation from all and sundry who wondered how wheelbarrows could be termed as empowerment tools.

The woman’s family member (middle) explained how she had died to onlookers outside her ex-husband’s home in eastern China. The woman had been forced to go through four abortions.
A Chinese woman has reportedly passed on, after she was forced to go through series of abortions, totaling 4, in a year, all because her husband wanted a son.
The woman, who had one daughter, was told by her husband to terminate her pregnancies whenever the medical scan showed she was carrying a girl, according to Chinese media.
Her husband was said to have proposed a divorce earlier this year after the woman had been left bedridden by the traumatic medical operations.
According to a report on Huanqiu.com, an affiliation to People’s Daily Online, the mother, named Yueyue, gave birth to a baby girl in Shengangzhen of Wuhu, Anhui Province.
However, her husband, whose name has not been revealed, wished for a boy.
The woman’s mother suffered a stroke and had to be pushed to her ex-son-in-law’s house.
So the couple started trying for another baby.
When Yueyue fell pregnant, her husband requested her to undergo an ultra-sound scan to identify the gender of the unborn baby.
And when the scan showed Yueyue was carrying a girl, Yueyue’s husband forced her to have an abortion.
The process repeated four times in one year as Yueyue’s husband was determined to have a son.
Yueyue’s health deteriorated and she was left bedridden.
Shockingly, instead of taking care of his wife, the husband sent Yueyue a divorce proposal.
The report said Yueyue had no choice but to agree to the divorce.
Yueyue took her 170,000 yuan (£19,208) divorce settlement to a hospital in Shanghai to seek medical attention.

Doyin Okupe, the former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and former member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced his switch to the Accord Party in Ogun state.
Doyin Okupe shockingly declared exit from PDP about three weeks ago on the reason of not been functional at the present dispensation.
Okupe revealed his new step in a Press statement posted in his Facebook page this evening.
Read the Press release:
“Following various consultations with political associates, family and friends I have decided to formally join the ACCORD Party.
My decision is based on deep reflection on who I am and what I want from politics.
To me politics does not begin and end with winning or losing elections. It’s not about big or small parties either. It’s also beyond personal relationships or endearing associations or friendships.
There exists in our communities several platforms on which such affiliations and sentiments can be sufficiently gratified.
To me, Politics is about, Service to the people, policies and ideologies that will serve the best interests of the greater majority of the society, Forthrightness and accountability, Honour and Integrity.
I am not desperate to be anything anymore. But I am desperate to find and work with other Nigerians especially our young and vibrant upcoming politicians, to establish a political incubator to breed a new generation of leaders who will do things right, maintain high ethical standards and abhor greed, avarice, selfishness and impunity.
Most of our national parties presently and in the past were put together with a false sense of national spread but majorly, irrespective of how they came to power, end up being inequitable and manifestly exists to serve the interests of a minority few and/or that of a tiny section of the country.
I want to belong to a political party that will be able to publicly state it’s position on troubling national issues like, requests for self determination by a section of the country, resource control, federalism and Restructuring, Religious intolerance, atrocities of fulani Herdsman, unequal standards in national university admission policy, and many more.
Any political party that does not have an openly stated position or Stand on these issues is a mere association of elites coming together only to feather their own nests or at best a deceptive political contraption put together by a few to seize power for a few and for the benefit of a few.
An official date of declaration by me and my numerous supporters in Ogun state will be announced shortly.
Accord Party is the political party formed by the former Governor of Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja at the verge of last Gubernatorial election in Oyo state.

After Lai Mohammed announced plans of the Federal Government to impose a ban on shooting music videos, movies outside Nigeria, it has of course generated a lot of negative buzz by entertainers.
In a long note, Veteran rapper, Ruggedman highlights reasons why the move is not only wrong but totally out of place.
Read;
Sir,
You can not privatise what you do not own or have control over.
Meet with real Nigerian entertainment stake holders and not people who have milked our entertainers with their platforms. Meet with the real stakeholders and discuss the way forward. Discuss how the Federal government can get involved with the Nigerian creative industry the right way.
It is wrong to try to bully your way into the Nigerian entertainment industry you did nothing to help build.
It is absurd to say you will ban entertainers from shooting music videos or movies abroad. Your reason being that we go there to enrich their economy with Nigerias money.
Not while government officials have their children schooling abroad.
Not while government officials all go abroad for medical treatment and vacations .
Not while government officials continue to import bullet proof cars that are not made in Nigeria.
All these amount to billions of Nigeria’s money being spent abroad.
IF YOU WANT ENTERTAINERS TO STOP GOING ABROAD TO SHOOT MUSIC VIDEOS AND MOVIES, THEN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SHOULD STOP GOING ABROAD FOR HOSPITALS,VACATIONS AND SCHOOLS.
WE CAN USE ALL THOSE BILLIONS SPENT IN FUNDING FOREIGN ECONOMIES TO EQUIP OUR SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS AND OTHER PARASTATALS.
They are our leaders and so have to lead by example
Trying to ban private owned businesses (entertainers) from doing part of their business abroad will go against the democracy your party preaches.
THINGS YOU NEED TO DO:
1. First of all, shelve the talk of banning entertainers working abroad. It is not what the creative industry needs from the government and it is a terrible look for you. Nobody likes a bully.
2. NO STRUCTURE MEANS NO ALTERNATIVE:
Since we do not have a proper structure yet, put a hold on your $1m venture capital for the creative industry.
You say the money is seed money for young and talented Nigerians to set up businesses in the industry. How do you know the young and talented ones if you do not work with the registered Music and Movie bodies?
You will only be enriching a few and wasting money our country needs.
So you need to help the existing Music and Movie unions set up a proper structure that can be monitored before you talk about giving money out.
Money is needed, but a structure is needed more urgently.
3. PMAN AND AGN VISITED YOU
I for one know that The President of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN ) Mr Pretty Okafor and the President of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria ( AGN ) Mr Emeka Ike along with a few executives met with you in Abuja and discussed a beautiful plan to put a proper structure in place for Nigeria’s creative industry.
One of the plans that was discussed with you was a conference tagged “Creative Industry Summit” and I see you were involved in a similar event recently tagged “Creative Industry Financing conference”.
We are surprised that nobody from the movie or music industry was present to speak at a conference for the ‘’CREATIVE INDUSTRY’’.
Sir, the stakeholders who spoke ath the just concluded Creative Industry Financing conference are not Nigerian veteran musicians or Nigerian record label owners. Neither are they from the Nigerian movie industry.
4. DISCUSS WITH ENTERTAINMENT STAKEHOLDERS 1ST, BEFORE BUSINESS STAKEHOLDERS.
We did not see the likes of Kenny Ogungbe “Kennis Music” , Tade Ogidan, Obi Asika “Storm Records”, Tunde Kilani, or Eldee “Trybe Records”.
These are some of the people who suffered and played great parts in building our Nigerian music and movie industry.
But the men at the Creative Industry Financing conferenceare you were part of are individuals who schooled “abroad” and own platforms that have made and are still making money using Nigerian entertainment.
But most of the artists whose works they deal in do not have half the money these men have made with our interlectual properties.
Sir, these intelligent businessmen can be in an advisory board to help build a structure to enrich both the owners of the intellectual properties and the Nigerian economy.
4. Revisit the plans the new PMAN president Pretty Okafor discussed with you when he and some executives met with you in Abuja some months back. Plans which involve setting up a proper structure to encode and barcode all intellectual materials by Nigerians.
WE NEED POLICIES TO
5. GET RADIO AND TV STATIONS TO PAY ARTISTS ROYALTY:
For eons, Nigerian radio and television stations have amassed billions of Nigeria from using Nigerian artists hard work without paying the artists. This is where you can come in and set up a policy that will make sure they start paying artists whose work they use.
They already make a lot of money from adverts placed by companies.
Sir, this move will be a ground breaking one in the Nigerian entertainment industry and it will be to your credit.
6. STOP TELECOM COMPANIES TAKING 70% OF ARTISTS MONEY:
Sit quietly with REAL Nigerian entertainment stakeholders and discuss the way forward. Not with individuals who have milked entertainers through their platforms for their personal gains. Especially the TELCOS.
TELCOS sell our songs/ringtones and take 70% while the owner of the work gets to share 30% with a content provider. IF YOU ARE TO BAN ANYBODY, IT IS THE TELCOS WHO DO THIS.
6. CURB PIRACY:
Follow the guidelines to curb piracy that the PMAN President Pretty Okafor introduced to you. Which included, setting up a task force empowered to deal with people found dealing in pirated entertainment materials.
PMAN is the recognised parent body for Nigerian Music, just as The AGN is to the Nigerian movie industry.
Both Presidents are veterans in their fields and are also businessmen. So sir, they undertand both worlds.
I am an entertainer and I know a lot of what we lack and what we need. Placing a ban on Nigerian entertainers going abroad to shoot music videos and movies is the last thing we need from our government.
Helping our creative industry to build a much needed structure, thereby creating a conducive environment for both local and foreign investors to do business is what is needed.
Lets work together to further grow and capitalize on a Nigerian creative industry that has managed to boom without any government policy..
Let the government make policies that will protect and expand our creative industry to benefit the entertainers and the Nigerian economy.
But it can not be achieved by brute force.
Or sir, you do not want them to come to Nigeria to shoot parts of Furious 9?
Sincerely yours
Ruggedman

Peter Okoye and Ruggedman has reacted after Collins Edwin, the APC youths National Secretary, described Peter Okoye as the “son of darkness”, and urged security agencies to arrest the PSquare brothers for Peter’s comments against the Federal Government.
The Statement signed by Collins Edwin reads;
“We read the scurrilous remarks credited to Mr Peter Okoye of the Psquare group against the Federal Government’s job-saving policy in the entertainment industry with great anger and vexation.
“Least of all persons to make scathing remark against the government is the Psquare group which the local content policy of the Federal Government dusted-up from the valley of obscurity.
“Where was Peter Okoye or Psquare brand in 1999 when foreign music dominated our airwaves? If not for the government policy which mandated all broadcast stations in Nigeria to pay attention to Nigerian music by playing 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day, would Peter Okoye or Psquare be known to anybody in Nigeria today?
“Or would they have competed with better American music which dominated our airwaves then?
“After the government have used its policy to brush them up from nothing to something; instead of giving opportunity to other people, they are taking Nigerian jobs to foreign countries through the shooting of music videos abroad.
“Now that government have intervened to raise great and better entertainers again, Peter Okoye has the gut to insult the entire Federal Government by calling our great leaders ‘Ndi Ala’ which means mad and stupid people. How dare you say that Psquare?
“We, therefore, urge the security agencies in the country to arrest Mr Peter Okoye for disrespecting our government and bringing it to a disrepute.
“If you cannot produce in Nigeria and hire Nigerians, then leave the industry. We must export Nigerian culture to the outside world through our music and videos.”
Well, Ruggedman has fired back at Collins, while Peter Okoye joined in the banter, mocking the National Secretary of APC Youths.
Peter said: “Abeg make him Oder Egusi, pounded yam and goat meat join for the arrest??? I knw those youth will start from 70 and above?? Onye ala?”

In a new interview on Emma Ugolee’s The Gist alongside Nigerian Musicians, African China and Sound Sultan, Veteran actor and TV host, Okey Bakassi, has raised concerns over the alarming rate of drug abuse and its consumption in Nigeria.
The stand-up comedian said a majority of illicit drugs consumers are Nigerian celebrities.
He said:
“Conservatively 70% of Nigerian Celebrities are on some sort of substance today. They have gone ballistic. You hear a lot of names- SK, Kush, Loud, etc. the names come everyday and you’re struggling to keep up with the nomenclature of it.”
However, He admitted that he also indulged in the act when he was younger, and noted that entertainers often take drugs to boost their creativity.
He said:
“I did some of it too. Creativity is part of it. [It enhances creativity] in the short term,”
According to a mental health expert who was also on the show,
He said:
“[Drugs and] alcohol [today] is the to-go guy and yet the most commonly abused substance.”
