Over the years, some Nigerian pastors have been victims of sex scandals. Here is a list of some of them who were at one time or the other accused of engaging in illicit affairs.
Apostle Johnson Suleman
The latest pastor to be accused of having an intimate relationship with a lady is Apostle Suleman, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries. Social media went into a frenzy on Monday when a lady identified as Stepahnie Otobo called out the fiery pastor, claiming he impregnated her and later dumped her. She aalleged that they both spent time alone in a hotel where they had intercourse among others practices.
Apostle Suleman has denied the allegations which he said were false. According to him, he has never met with the lady before even though they had discussed about her plight in 2016.
Pastor Chukwuma Nkwocha
Nkwocha, the General Overseer of Tongue of Fire Restoration Ministry, was arrested in 2016 for allegedly camping and defiling about 30 under-aged girls. The Lagos state command spring into action after receiving a report that the pastor with a church situated on Jacob Taiwo Street Oshodi was harbouring some young girls and freely having unlawful canal knowledge of them.
Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo
In 2013, a blogger identified as Ese Walter boldly came out to accuse Pastor Fatoyinbo of COZA (Common Wealth Of Zion Assembly) of having an affair with her. Ese, who was also a member of the church claimed the man of God had an affair with her while in the UK. As if Ese’s accusations were not enough, another lady, Franca E. who claimed to be a victim also accused Fatoyinbo of the same thing. Addressing the scandal, the man of God said he was well aware of the accusations and subsequent uproar on social networks but that he would be ignoring it.
Sunday Adelaja
In 2016, the founder and senior pastor of the Embassy of God, an evangelical-charismatic megachurch in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev was enmeshed in an adultery scandal following allegations that he had extramarital affairs with at least 20 women in his church. Adelaja denied the allegations levelled against him which he said was an attempt by some people to take over the church from him.
Dr Sign Fireman
In 2014, reports surfaced that the church’s General Overseer of Perfect Christianity Mission, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, Ofuche Ukoha aka Dr. Sign Fireman, was involved in an alleged [email protected]:’ual assault and killing of a 12-year-old girl in Badagry. The incident made him popular and almost tarnished his ministry.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
In 2014, it came as surprise when report surfaced that the founder of Believers Love World Ministry aka Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris and his wife, Anita Oyakhilome, were getting porced. Anita who filed for porce was said to have cited irreconcilable differences bordering on alleged adultery and unreasonable behaviour. However, the pastor, according to an elder of the church, denied allegations of adultery and believes his wife was being influenced by “bad friends” who were intent on destroying their home.
Chris Oyakhilome’s brother, Rev. Ken
Not long after the Pastor Chris porce saga, there was another report that his brother Rev. Ken, allegedly impregnated a South African lady who was a member of the Church in Randburg, Guateng, which is the headquarters of Christ Embassy, South Africa. His reported affair with the lady was said to be an “open secret” among the parishioners. When the news about the woman’s pregnancy started making rounds, church officials reportedly fudged the issue to prevent scandal. Also, the pregnancy was reportedly aborted with the knowledge of church leaders, report says.
Michael Paul Ogbe, a 16-year-old SS3 student from ASACS International Staff College, Bwari, Abuja, has been reported dead, because of the serious head injuries he sustained after a high jump during the school’s inter-house sports on March 1, 2017.
His shocked mother, Marian Nnanna Ogbe, has called for a probe of the incident and justice over the untimely death of her only son, who lost his father when he was just 4. The late Michael was the best science student of the school.
Sources claimed that Michael would have survived if he was rushed immediately to the hospital for treatment. Findings also revealed that the school lacked high jump facilities as it was a small mattress that was placed on the ground for the students to land on.
When Authorityngr newspaper called the proprietor, Chief A.B. Ekwere, who also owns Dorben Polytechnic in Bwari, he declined to speak. All the subsequent calls were not picked.
Mrs Ogbe, who said she single-handedly brought up Michael, lamented that she was not immediately informed when the incident occurred. She got to the hospital to meet her son already packaged for the mortuary.
She lamented that if only she was called immediately, she would have taken him to a private specialist hospital for adequate medical attention.
Mrs. Ogbe recalled that the deceased had a premonition of his death as he was reluctant to return to school after the mid-term break.
“We had to force him to go on Tuesday,” she said. “Michael was a computer wiz-kid. He wanted to work as a computer security expert in government or a telecommunications company,” Ogbe said, displaying a form she obtained from a school in Canada where he was billed to resume in September 2017.
“I miss him so much, I can’t give birth again, I don’t even have a husband, I don’t know where to start from. Life has no meaning anymore; I worked so hard for Michael.
The school is so careless, they don’t take care of the students, I want justice done. I gave you a live child and you are giving me back a dead one. It wouldn’t have taken me 40 minutes to get to the school,” she lamented.
The processing of bail conditions for Stephanie Otobo, the alleged mistress claiming to have had an affair with Apostle Johnson Suleiman, founder of Omega Fire Ministry Worldwide, ran into problems again today as Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Bukola Ayeye was not in court to sign some of the required documents, Sahara Reporters reports.
By the time the documents were said to be ready yesterday, she had left for an engagement, leaving Stephanie and Wisdom Godstime, a Canadian resident detained with her, with no option but to remain behind bars.
It was gathered that many of the Magistrates, including Mrs. Ayeye, did not sit today because of a swearing-in ceremony for some new judges by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
This series of events have kept with Stephanie and Godstime in continuous detention despite their readiness to fulfill their bail conditions.
A senior warden in the female section of the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison told Sahara Reporters that Stephanie was deeply unhappy yesterday when her hopes of getting out were dashed.
Godstime was also said to have been apprehensive when he realized he would stay one more night, having been in police custody since Friday. The same appears to be their fate today.
Stephanie and Godstime were hauled before Magistrate Ayeye accused of “terrorism” in an attempt by policemen working in concert with Apostle Suleman to secure a prison remand warrant but the judge denied the application, stating there was no substantial evidence to deny the duo their freedom.
Curiously, the Chief Magistrate has been unavailable to sign off on their bail two days after she granted it.

Tragedy struck Manchester United’s Marco Rojo, when he learnt that his cousin, Geronimo Rojo, was shot dead by a retired police officer he was trying to rob at Rojo’s native city of La Plata an hour’s drive south-east of the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires.

Adolphus Eze-nwagu, was charged with assault after a fight ensued between him and his wife who he alleged has been barren for 13 years – he has been remanded in Kirikiri prison.
The 50-year-old man from Awgbu town in Orumba Local government of Anambra State, reportedly battered his wife at their residence at 12 Musibau Saidi Street, Fatoki in Egan, a surburb of Lagos State.
Telling his own side of the story, Adolphus said he was left with no option than to marry another wife, as he had taken his wife of 13 years to various churches and hospitals.
According to him, he discussed this option of a second wife with his wife, Ngozi, and even allowed her to find a new wife for him.
However, he alleged that the lady his wife Ngozi brought, was not up to his standard, so he told her he was going to the village to get a much younger wife.
PM Express reports that when he arrived Lagos with his new wife, Ngozi was so bitter that she seized the house documents which she destroyed, alongside other valuable properties.
Adolphus who claimed he was arrested by Ngozi’s family members, after he tried stopping her from destroying more things, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of assault at a court in Ejigbo.
He was also granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in the like sum, and will be remanded in prison till he met the conditions.
The case has however been adjourned till April 10, 2017.
A depressed Nigerian man from Ado-Ekiti, identified on Facebook as Ariyo Olanrewaju Taiwo who was perceived to be joking, after he made a suicidal post on Facebook have committed suicide.
A close friend of his paid a tribute to him, wishing she had earlier seen his suicidal note on Facebook and maybe turned things around.
Three people have been reported dead in a robbery attack that took place at a Skye Bank branch in Ogbagi Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State earlier today.
Eyewitnesses say that the robbers who were armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the bank at about 2pm this afternoon and started shooting. They were engaged in serious gun battle with security operatives stationed at the bank.
In the wake of the gun battle, three persons were confirmed dead while some other persons sustained serious injuries. The robbers carted away an undiscloed amount of money.
“The armed robbers killed the security officers attached to Skye Bank because they refused to cooperate with them during the operation. They even slapped a local woman who acted stubborn to them and ransacked all the banking vaults where money was kept before running away”an eyewitness told Sahara Reporters.
The state police command’s public relations officer, Femi Joseph, confirmed the attack.
