Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Olufunke Osibodu, has urged Nigerians not to expect any improvement in the power sector in the next five years.
Speaking at the 11th Annual Founder’s Day event of the American University of Nigeria in Yola, Saturday, Mrs. Osibodu said at least N250 billion is required annually to fix the country’s electricity sector.
According to a Vanguard report, she said:
“And we Nigerians need to understand that we cannot do it overnight, and in addition we have to pay for it.
We need to be ready as citizens also, to accept and live with the pain that we have to go
through, and allow time as our friends.
As Nigerians, often we are the ones that deceive our politicians. The politicians believe that the only way to go is to promise everything immediately possible. Promise that everything is possible today so that they can get elected. But when you see that it is not, so we want to give them time and use time as our friends. It is the same story for the power industry.
When I tell my friends, that forget any improvement for the next five years, they are scared, but that is the truth. We need minimum of five years to invest before we see results. But very often, because Nigerians are impatient, we start pushing our governments and they start reversing good things they have done in various ways. So we need to be more patient.”
Mrs. Osibodu’s statements came despite the claim earlier in the year by Babatunde Fashola, the minister of Power, Works, and Housing, that the country would attain 10,000 megawatts electricity generation by 2019.
The security man you see in the photo above returned a man’s wallet containing bank cards, and cash. The thankful man took to his Facebook page to celebrate the good Samaritan.
He wrote:
“There are still good people in Nigeria. I dropped my wallet at Charley Boy bus stop this morning containing at least 3 intl bank cards and 5 local bank cards, and cash. It was picked up by this security man (Augustine Joseph, Sisco Security coy) seconded to Golden Transport Gbagada. You can imagine my joy when he called me that the wallet is with him. Silver and gold I have not but I know that God would reward Augustine for his honesty and goodness. I won’t give up on Nigeria. It shall be well.”

Our policemen are widely seen as ignorant, corrupt, unprofessional, inefficient and uncultured law enforcement agents who ride on citizens and also exhibit some disgraceful habits in public places which are mentioned below
1. Drinking and Smoking Irresponsibly
It’s very degrading to see an ASP cadre officer in uniform gulping beer and completely drunk at beer palour. Many a times, they will mobilize themselves to a local herbal shop just to drink jedi and smoke marijuana.
That’s why we often hear cases of policemen who got drunk and shoot people dead. This disgraceful habit is very common with police officials in remote areas.
2. Incessant Hailing of Politicians and Wealthy Men
Most policemen, out of stomach infrastructure, shamelessly hail politicians and wealthy men at check points. You will see their two hands in the air shouting “baba ooooo” at the top of their voice.
Sometimes, some of them escorts these wealthy men with koboko for the sake of providing safety to them, and will be flogging innocent drivers who fail to maintain their lane or give way.

A shocking incident has left many baffled after Machakos Deputy Governor, Bernard Kiala’s daughter, Kathleen Nduku was found alive in her boyfriend’s house after she went missing for one week.
It is believed she had been in the house having fun while parents thought she was missing.
According to reports in Kenya, Kiala’s daughter was declared missing on the 11th of November 2016 and found on Thursday 17.
The girl’s father was forced to report the matter to the police following a chilling message he received from the alleged gang that abducted the daughter.
It is not clear how she got to her boyfriend’s house, but police confirmed the girl was found at her boyfriend’s house in Sunton Mwiki area in Kasarani days after claims she was kidnapped.
Narobi County commander Japheth Koome said the kidnap fears were not true as reported. Police who were involved in an intensive search traced Kathleen at her boyfriend’s house in Kasarani.
Tuko reports that on Thursday, November 17, Nairobi CID boss Ireri Kamwende said they realized she was not abducted after questioning her.
“We have taken her with us to the CID headquarters so that she can record a statement before we give further information,” he said.
Kathleen, a university student told the police she was staying with the man on her own volition.
The kidnap had been linked to the intrigues in the Machakos political scene with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka warning Governor Alfred Mutua that he would have to write a statement should anything bad happen to her.

When Tiwa Savage granted that famous interview after her estranged husband accused her of infidelity, it was as if nothing in the world would make her live with the man again. Everyone empathized with her, particularly regarding her allegation of her husband’s use of hard drugs.
It was clear why she wanted her son far away from the father. But if there is one thing life has taught us about matters of the heart, it is “never say never again” as much of the body language from the ‘Kelekele love’ crooner in recent weeks shows that she may be taking her former manager-husband back into her open arms again.
The first hint dropped at the 3-Thrones concerts when she openly sought advice from Wumi and Tunde Obe on the success of their marriage.
Then followed torrent of rumours that the husband has been seeing a shrink, to straighten him out, in preparation for being a good husband and dad again. Rumours can be rumours but pictures hardly lie (even in this age of photoshop).
Just days ago, Tiwa’s estranged hubby posted a picture of himself and their son, Jamil, playing together in a tub, again, stoking the speculation that the couple may just be getting back together again. Or at least, mum is not keeping sonny away from dad any more.
Chief Emeka Offor, the Chairman of Chrome Group of Companies, in a display of his wealth, has buried his father in a N15m gold casket.
His father was buried on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the All Saint Anglican Church, Irefi Oraifite, Anambra State.
This extravagance was met with widespread condemnation online, as many questioned the act, terming it to be wasteful.
Giving a reaction in a Facebook comment, a user named Gabriel Omonhinmin wrote, “Don’t you think Emeka Offor’s father, Benneth would have been much happier in his grave if this money was given as a revolving loan to some youths in that community?”
Another user with the name, Manu Vice Mike wrote, “No matter d amount of tin u did to a died man is nothing but a waste cus he doesn’t know that a gasket worthy of millions went to grave with him , so he should bury his dad on a humanitarian ground nd not for publication.. so those of u who r planning to give ur dad an extravagant bury should covert it to him with an extravagant life Style wen he’s still alive rather than expensive gasket as it is not going to make any difference with those buried wit normal gasket.”
While Offor might have felt that he was honoring his late father by burying him in an expensive casket, many Nigerians who are currently affected by the economic recession will have an issue fathoming why such investment was made on a dead person.
2016 is looking like a good year for many in the showbiz. Moments after Omoni Oboli showed the world clips of P-Square new home her colleague in the movie industry, Actress, Daniella Okeke also shared snaps of her ongoing building project, with hopes of finishing it up before the year finally runs out.
A cleaner, Peter Oko, has narrated how he stole N5.675 million from the New Nyanya branch of Diamond Bank, where he worked.
The 29 year-old stated that he took the keys to the vault, stole the money and hid it in a carton, which he took home after the close of work.
The money was however recovered by the police, which said that the suspect had been charged to court.
Oko told Northern City News at the Nasarawa State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Lafia that he carried out the theft alone, saying, “As a cleaner, I knew where all the keys were kept.”
He added, “I single-handedly carried out the operation because I have been working as a cleaner in the bank for the past 10 years and my eyes had been on one of the keys to the vault, where the bank used to keep all its money.
“As a cleaner, my attention was not only on the keys, but on how I will carry out the operation successfully without being caught by either the security or any staff of the bank.”
The suspect said he stole the money without the knowledge of the bank workers, adding that he had access to all the foreign currencies in the bank as he knew where they were kept.
“As a cleaner, I knew where all the secret files were kept and where the bank kept its keys where you can have access to dollars, Nigerian currency and all other currencies.”
Oko blamed the economic situation for his action, stating that he had never been involved in a criminal act before now.
“The devil of economy recession pushed me into the crime; I have never committed a criminal act before, luck ran out on me and I was caught in the process,” he stated.
The state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Bello, said the crime was reported to the police in October, 2016, by the bank, adding that the matter was then transferred from Karu Divisional Police Headquarters to the SCIID for investigations.
Movie producer and actress, Elizabeth Anjorin aka Lizzy Anjorin is one of Nollywood’s most sought after Yoruba actress. Business savvy Lizzy recently opened up to Entertainer on her career and her new project, Owo Naira Bet.
What has been happening to you lately?
I have been doing fine despite the fact that the industry has been badly affected by piracy and all that. I thank God every day.
You travel out of the country very often. Would it be right to say that Lizzy is making so much money?
(Laughter) If I have so much money I won’t be travelling out so often. I travel out so often because I have to hustle.
How are you coping with economic recession?
Hmmm… it has affected me too-oo. Or do you want me to say it has not affected me so that ‘boys’ can come and rob me (laughter). It is affecting all of us.
What project are you working on at the moment?
Wow! That is Owo Naira Bet.
What inspired it?
Recently I discovered that a lot of Nigerians youths are engaging in sports betting and they hit so much money sometimes even running into millions of naira but after a few months, you see them back on the streets doing nothing. The message is that people should learn to invest; they can invest part of this money and save for the rainy day. Yes, life is a gamble in itself but we need to learn how to save for the rainy day and invest.
Lizzy, you are such a pretty babe. When are you going to tie the knot?
I am still a virgin (laughter). That would be when I grow up. Any questions about that?
You have a glowing skin. What is the secret?
It is God I must say.
Is there any special beauty routine that you have embarkrd on?
In the morning I exercise and take fruits. In the afternoon I eat like a queen and in the evening, I take something very small.
Do you have any regrets in life?
None, I am good and I am grateful.
You often act action and violent roles in movies. Is that the real Lizzy Anjorin?
No, that is not the real me.
So, who is the real Lizzy Anjorin?
This is the real me. What you see on screen is what I mimic. I I can easily go into any cha acter and come back to my normal self. As an artiste you must be able to have your own personal life but when on set, immediately you hear ‘action’, you switch to the character you are depicting and after you are done you come back to your normal self immediately.
Aside acting, what else is Lizzy Anjorin up to?
I am also a designer. I design most of my wears. I have a clothes line.
Just back from the United Kingdom, where he had a surgery on his kidney, the actor has told fans and friends that he is in top shape.
In this interview, Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie, and his wife Maureen, talk about their six-year-old marriage.
How did you meet your wife?
Leo: Our meeting was a coincidence. I was frustrated from a broken relationship. I was at Ojez Bar in Lagos, complaining to some friends. It was the night before the day I wanted to travel to the United Kingdom, so we were having a farewell drink. I wanted to travel and forget about the other lady. One of my friends that I sat with told me that if the break-up was not my fault, then he would introduce me to a good lady. And he told me that God would not forgive me if I hurt her. He gave me her number and the next day, after packing my bags, I called her and lied that I mistakenly dialled her number.
She doubted it and hung up on me. I called again but she did not pick. When I got to the UK the following morning, I bought a line and called friends and family to tell them that I arrived safely. I called her line but she did not pick up. Later she returned the call, thinking it was one of her friends in the UK. She was surprised to find out I was the one, and asked me what I wanted. I told her all the lies guys usually tell and later she became friendly.
What was your reaction when he proposed to you? Maureen: When I met him, I was coming out from a relationship too. My intention was to play around, date him, break his heart and move on. He came at a time I wanted to have fun; I was not ready to get married. I told him we had to hold on for a while. I did not know him that well; I just met him and accepted him as a friend. The kind of job I did in the bank then was also challenging and did not give me much time except in the evenings and weekends. We went to see my mum after six months.
How long did you court before you got married? Leo: Six months.
How did you start liking each other? Leo: At a time I noticed that I no longer had secrets around her anymore. We never lied to each other; we became fond of each other and it was just as if she had my life in her hands. She was caring and I missed her company whenever she was not around me.
How long have you been married? Leo: We would be married for four years in July (Interview was conducted in SUNDAY PUNCH Of May 2014)
How has the marriage been?
Maureen: It has been beautiful, loving and very challenging.
What were the challenges? Maureen: There were some things he would do and I would be so angry and felt like flogging him. But sometimes I would say to myself that if I beat my child, I would still have to draw him close. But he is an adult and I could not beat him. I learnt to forgive even before he hurts me. The nature of his job was another aspect I had to make up my mind to accept. It is not like an office work where one expects a monthly salary; sometimes he has jobs and sometimes he does not. When he does not, we adapt and enjoy what we have at the moment.
Leo: We were two adults from different homes coming together as one. We almost broke up in less than six months into our marriage. We wanted to go our separate ways, but reconciled after about a month. In less than three months we had issues again. It was just continuous. After that, we have never had any challenge that we could not resolve between us. There is no day I do not offend her, and I do not think I have ever said sorry up to three times but she has a way of forgiving me, even before she complains.
Did marriage rid you of your freedom? Leo: No it did not. There is no where I cannot go, whenever I want to. When we started the relationship, the first thing I did was to take her to my location to see how I worked. She does not stop me from living my natural life but she devised a means of making me quit smoking in less than one year of marriage. I have never smoked in four years. She never complained about my friends but she made me see the right reasons why I should not associate with some of them.
Were there oppositions to your marriage from family members? Leo: My family wanted us to wait a year before talking about marriage. They told me that the family marries a woman, not the man and that they would not attend my traditional marriage since I did not listen to them. Only my younger brother attended and I did not invite them to the white wedding; they read about it in the papers. But my wife united everyone.
What qualities and hobbies do you have in common? Maureen: We love to travel; we hang out together and we love dancing. I dance better than he does. He easily gets tired. We watch movies together too.
What advice would you give to celebrity couples?
Leo: Marriages that have issues never started well and marriages based on lies and false appearance cannot survive. Couples should always tell each other the truth and be open about their finances. Marriage should not be based on pretence.
Irresponsible ladies should not look for responsible guys. Marriage is first about honesty, truth and openness before commitment.
What advice would you give to celebrity spouses?
Maureen: They should be patient and prayerful because it could be challenging and they might have reasons to leave the marriage every day. They should always support their spouses and not push them into what they do not have passion for.

“You will not see my buttocks, you will not see sexually explicit scenes, you won’t hear bad language but you will identify things that will propel your spirit to somewhere great. Basically we will reduce all the explicit scenes you used to see.”

In spite of the controversy and media clampdown orchestrated by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian parliament, the money ponzi scheme popularly called MMM is waxing stronger as the promoters celebrated one year anniversary since the scheme started.
MMM Nigeria celebrated its one year anniversary in style by donating donated relief materials worth N5 million to two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a report by NAN, the gesture was part of the MMM Nigerian community’s humanitarian week tagged ‘MMM cares’ to mark its one year anniversary.
The Gwoza and Bama IDP Camp located in Durumi area and the New Kuchingoro IDP camp were the two beneficiaries of the relief materials.
Bags of rice, beans, garri, as well as cartoons of beverages and noodles, were some of the items donated by the group. The group also donated clothing, drugs, and educational materials for the pupils among them.
Mr Seyi Bello, a Guilder in the ‘MMM Community’ said the donation was motivated by the desire of the group to affect the society positively, especially the less-privileged.
“We are marking our first year anniversary and we have decided to come and celebrate it with our brothers, mothers and children in the camp.
“As a community, we do not only provide help to our members, we also extend that to the larger society as part of our social responsibility.
“In these times of economic challenges, the IDPs are the ones that need help and support more than any other person; that is why we visited them today,” he said.
Bello explained that besides providing help and donations to its members, humanitarian service was a flagship programme of the group.
He said that the relief items were bought from free-will donations of members in their quest to touch lives positively.
“The N5 million was raised from voluntary donations my members in the FCT.
“That is what defines us as a community of people providing financial help to each other on the principle of reciprocity and benevolence.
“In MMM there are no lenders and no debtors. One participant asks for help, another one helps.’’
Bello appealed to individuals, groups and corporate bodies to always remember the IDPs across Nigeria, since government alone would not be able to provide for them adequately.
“They are our brothers and sisters who have left the comfort of their homes and are now struggling for survival here.
“No matter how little, let us always extend a hand of help to them to complement what government and other donors are doing, “he urged.
Mr Enoch Yohanna, General Secretary of the IDP camp at New Kuchingoro, who received the items, expressed gratitude for the gesture which he described as `timely.’
“The Christmas season is very close; we thank MMM-Nigeria for bringing these items to us.
“We hope to share them satisfactorily among us for everybody to be happy and have a happy Christmas celebration,“ he said.
The visit to the IDPs camps was preceded by a two-hour environmental sanitation by members of the group on Nyanya/Mararaba route, a suburb of the FCT. Members of the group came out in their numbers to clear garbage from drainages and streets in the area.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has persistently warned Nigerians against investing their money in MMM. CBN sees MMM as a fraud and not lacking in credibility. The organization has folded up in some countries
President Muhammadu Buhari was on Saturday, spotted rocking a snapback as he participated and presented the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu during the party’s campaign rally for the November 26 guber election in Ondo State.
The president was spotted with Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, during the political rally.
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, made the disclosure, yesterday, when the Ndigbo Community in Ekiti conferred him with the traditional title of ‘Nwanne – De – Namba at the Olukayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti during the Igbo Cultural Day.
He said, “whatever anybody says, the Igbos are a unique people in the country. God forbid, if Nigeria should break, they are the only nation that can survive because they are industrious people. All the permanent structures found everywhere are owned by the Igbo people. Wherever you go in the country, you will find an Igbo man there.”
Coming on the results of the just concluded United States Presidential Election which were announced on Monday, Nov 7, declaring Donald Trump as the winner, negative reactions has trailed Prophet TB Joshua over his prophecy were he stated that ‘a woman will win the US Presidential election’.
In a rather uncharacteristic reversal, the renowned Prophet today stated that the outcome of the election was a manifestation of the efficacy of prayers.
Prophet TB Joshua insisted that people who are conversant with the accuracy of his prophecies went into fervent prayers and begged God to reverse the prophecy to favor trump.
Further citing biblical reference where prayer altered a prophecy, Joshua likened Trump shock victory to the prophecy of Jonah to the people of Nineveh which said that God would destroy Nineveh within 40 days; but was eventually averted because the inhabitants of the city offered fervent prayers to God.
An email was read out to the congregation during the service where the author commended TB Joshua saying:
“Your word came and challenged us to pray.
“Thousands of people that heard my prophecy prayed to God, they fasted and prayed that God should change the prophecy.
That a prophecy is disclosed and it did not come to pass does not mean that it is not authentic.”
It was like the prophecy of Jonah when God told him that he would destroy the people of Nineveh. Thank you prophet, your word saved America, it was a warning, like the prophecy of Jonah when the people prayed, and God changed His mind.
Prophet, God hears your prayer. We prayed and fasted.”
Confirming the power of prayer in prophetic utterances, Joshua said,
“They know my antecedent that what I say always come to pass.
As a result, they went to God in prayer. This is the power of prayer; it is not a crime to tell you. If you have doubt, look at the track record of the person that is talking. I said that the boat will be rocked, and there will be challenges. What else do you need? Let’s believe in the power of prayer.
He added: “We have seen the outcome of the election in America. You will notice that it is all about the popular vote, the vote of the majority of Americans. In this case, we need the spirit of a prophet to recognize or to know a prophet.
Our levels are different. We are not on the same level. We might have great cathedrals, huge bells and all kinds of activities that are good by human standards; but human point of view is limited.
IK Ogbonna has defended his decision to wear earrings and get tattoos.
In an interview with Vanguardngr, when asked about the moral behind wearing earrings, he said:
Who invented earrings? God didn’t create earrings but girls are wearing earrings.
These are things that people created overtime and then it became a norm and then people accepted it. So someone shouldn’t just look at you and say “Oh you’re a man, you shouldn’t wear earring. If you feel comfortable wearing earring, wear earring and worship God.
If you feel comfortable having a tattoo, have a tattoo and worship God. There are people that don’t have tattoos on their body but they preach hate, they preach lots of hate.
So let people focus more on major primary issues instead, and not IK Ogbonna’s tattoos and earrings. I’m going to keep my tattoos and earrings for as long as possible. I might even give my son an earring to wear.”

When a person gets married, some may think a sure way to have a partner for live but these days, your spouse’s eyes can wander. Once eyes wander, body parts may follow.
Society has taught us to expect men to cheat but what about when the woman is the one cheating? It usually takes a lot for a woman to cheat outside her marriage but it is a possibility.
Women will be able to hide it very well but everything has tell-signs that will make the man catch unto her cheating. Here are four sings she is enjoying another man:
1. She no longer wants to have sex with you
If she used to be a she machine but these days she doesn’t send, it could be that she is getting her satisfaction elsewhere.
It could also be that she is not in the mood but if you can’t remember the last time you had sex with her, it might be time to get a clue.
