It’s interesting they way people have responded to the recent ongoings with Ibinabo Fiberesima. Ib Fiberesima is my cousin, first cousins actually.
When I first read in the news about a month ago that Lagos state was revisiting the case of her involvement in the accident I was a bit surprised, I got in touch with her and she told me to keep her in my prayers. Same also went for another court case about a girl who won a beauty pageant she organized.
Now what is of interest to me is the negative comments she has received concerning the new judgement. My prayer for us all is that we do not end up in situations that we have very little control over, and also that we do not end up on the wrong side of the law.
The aim of this post is to hopefully enlighten those who would like to listen to know the Ibinabo that I know. Ever since I can remember, Ib has been a go-getter.
Nothing stands in her way, nothing is impossible, and she speaks her mind. She is very hard working. I have had the opportunity to spend many a night at her place in Lagos and Port Harcourt. Ibinabo comes home most times after 10 p.m, stays up till about 1a.m, still working, and is up by 6 a.m to go out to work again.
The haters might ask “what sort of work does she do”? Wells she owns and manages AMC productions, has for the past few years been the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, an organisation she has helped transform, and thirdly she is always caring to people’s needs.
Ibinabo is one of the most generous people I know. She goes out of her way to help people to the point where people keep on taking advantage of her but that has not deterred her from helping yet still.
The ibinabo most people know is not just the pictures she posts on her social media platform, she is also like you and I.
She cries, she laughs, she gets sad, she falls sick, she gets angry, she has a bad,….. basically the same things we all go through only that like most other people none of it was handed to her on a platter of gold. She worked for it.
It’s a pity that she has to be the one who is going through this harrowing experience once again. God will be with you and I will keep on putting you in my prayers. o by the way, these are some pictures I took of her about 2 years ago in her house eating eba and Okro soup, just like all of us do.

An official of the Lagos State University, Samuel Ambe, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly killing his lover, Mata Jidonu.
Thirty-two-year-old Mata was married to a lawyer, Sunday Jidonu, for whom she had three children.
It was learnt that the suspect worked at the Department of Works and Physical Planning of the university.
According to PUNCH Metro, Mata, who lived in the Agric area of Ikogazebba, Badagry, had left home around 3pm on February 15, saying she was going to buy foodstuffs in the market, but reportedly headed for the lover’s house, a few kilometres away.
Her husband, Sunday, who had returned from the court earlier that day as a result of illness, became apprehensive when she did not return on time.
He said:
“I came back from the court that day around 2pm because I was ill. On getting home, I found out that my wife was dressed up, ready to go out. I told her to prepare coffee for me because that it is what I normally take in the afternoon. She said I had been taking too much coffee and advised me to eat eba that was already prepared.
“She put the stew on fire while she went to pick our last child, Laura, from the school. I told her to help me buy drugs along the road. The same motorcyclist that took her to and from the school waited for her outside and took her again supposedly to the market to buy beans.
“I slept after taking the drugs. Laura woke me up around 5pm and I asked his brother where their mother was. I called her number but it did not go through. I called her mother, our church and the centre, where she was doing a post-literacy study; they all said she was not with them.”
Sunday said he became more worried when it was 9pm and Mata did not come home. He added that he could not sleep conveniently till the following day when he reported at the Badagry Police Division.
“I was at the station, when the head of the vigilante group in our community called me on the telephone that my wife had been found dead in a bush path. When I got to the scene, a crowd had gathered and policemen from Ado-Odo Ota, Ogun State, had arrived to pick her corpse. She was strangled and stabbed in the leg. Her private parts’ hairs had been shaved off,” he added
The lawyer told the publication that the nature of Mata’s death prompted him to talk to people living around the area, saying that he was told she used to go to the suspect’s home regularly and was there on February 15.
He said he gave the information to the police, leading to Ambe’s arrest.
He said:
“I was told that my wife had been sighted with Ambe on several occasions at his second house and that she entered the building on the day the incident happened. He is a non-teaching staff member at LASU. His family members do not live with him in that house. I reported to the police and eight days later, he was arrested.
“As we were going to the station in a police van, he called somebody on the telephone, telling the person in Egun language that the fat woman had been traced to his house. He did not know that I understand the language.”
It was learnt that Ambe’s phones were consequently seized and upon dialing the deceased’s number on one of the phones, it showed ‘D@M’ as the identity of the caller.
“The call logs we got from the MTN office revealed that he had been calling my wife every day since February 1. It was discovered that he had called her twice on February 15, the day she did not come back home,” he added.
It was learnt that the police recovered some charms from the suspect’s house, while bloodstains were found on the wall of the building
Sunday said:
“He (Ambe) begged me to forgive him. He said he was not the one who killed my wife and that he was only dating her.
“But there are enough indications for me to believe that he is behind the death of my wife. Since then, some elders in the community have been threatening me to let go of the matter. I have also been noticing strange movements around my house.”
Confirming the incident via a text message, the Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command had enough evidence to prosecute the suspect, adding that he would be charged to court.
He said:
“The suspect is with us. We have credible evidence to prosecute the suspect and he will soon appear in court.”

The Presidency has disclosed categorically that President Muhammadu Buhari acts fully in the capacity of his office whether he is in Nigeria or abroad on official assignments.
In reaction to a report by an online news medium that vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, had to cancel his trip to India for the India-Africa conference because he did not want to relinquish power to Nigeria’s number three citizen, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Presidency noted that the President is still acting in his full capacity despite embarking on a state visit to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
In a statement issued by Laolu Akande, spokesperson for Prof Osinbajo, he said:
“Nigerians know wherever Mr. President is, at home or abroad he acts fully in his office except if on break, indisposed or incapacitated. So the question of his traveling creating a vacuum does not even exist at all.“It is simply untrue that an advance party from the Vice President’s office departed for India. No such thing happened because there was no such final decision to travel.
The statement then cleared the air on Nigeria’s participation at the summit.
“There are some insinuations online about Nigeria’s participation in the India-Africa conference holding from March 14-16 in New Delhi.”
“For the avoidance of any doubt, Nigeria’s delegation to the the meeting is led by Industry and Trade Minister, Dr. Okey Enelamah,” the statement read.

On Sunday, March 13, 2016 during the comedy concert, Chronicles of Ushbebe, AY spoke candidly and finally cleared the air on his perceived marital issues.
Pulse reports that AY disclosed that he fumigated his house sometimes back and while his wife left home, he returned home the same day the house was fumigated and this sparked off allegations and rumours that he had marital issues.
AY also noted that blogger, Stella Dimoko Korkus got wind of his wife staying out of the house for few days and without inquiring on why she wasn’t home.

Their Family Drama has been going on for months now, But Paul Okoye today, Monday, March 14th shared a photo of their late mother Josephine Okoye.
Although it is not her death anniversary yet, “I wish you were around,” he captioned the picture, adding a crying emoji.

“Now I understand what these life is without having a mother,” the singer and songwriter continued. “You’ve played your part. Thank you very much, mum. Miss you.”
Josephine Okoye died in an Indian hospital on July 11, 2012, after an illness, and their father passed away in November 2014.

Let’s be honest with ourselves. When some baffling things happen, we question God, if not verbally, at least, in our hearts. But we pretend that we are not querying the Almighty. We say to ourselves: well, no man can question God.
However, in the deep recesses of our inner man, we have questions. But since we don’t want to appear as interrogating God, we then keep quiet, saying “no man can query God.”
It is in the light of that pretension (as if God does not know our very thoughts, even before they are formed in our hearts), that I situate the death of Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr James Ocholi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), his wife, Blessing, and their son, Joshua, in an auto crash last Sunday.
It was a tragedy of monumental proportions, which brought up a lot of ifs: what if the family had decided against the fatal journey? What if the vehicle had refused to start, and they had aborted the trip? What if the Minister had developed a runny stomach, and so could not travel? What if the car key had got mysteriously missing? What if…? The questions would never really end, and we then lay them at the doorsteps of God: what if God had not allowed the crash to happen? And of course, He has the power to have prevented it. He is omnipotent. He has all powers. He is omniscient, knowing all things.
When James Ocholi was born in November, 1960, God knew he would be recalled home on March 6, 2016. When he courted Blessing, married her, and they began to raise a family, God knew they would both die the same day, continuing their romance into eternity. Or did God not know? He must have known.
But could He have stopped such tragedy from happening, thus saving us from sorrow, tears and blood? He could have. So, why didn’t He? Baffling. Confounding. Astonishing.
Yes, I am asking questions, but let me pretend that they are questions of faith. The news of the decimation of the Ocholi family sent me into a very painful deja vu. Just last December, my sister, a professor of Dramatic Arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, had died in a gruesome accident on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
Foluke Ogunleye died along with her brother-in-law, who had visited from America, and was being ferried to the airport in Lagos to catch a flight later that evening. Rather, what he boarded was an eternal flight. He went on a journey of no return on a famished road.
When I heard about the Ocholis, I remembered the Adesinas, the Ogunleyes, and the pain we bore, and still bear. Don’t I still shed a silent tear when nobody is looking? Don’t I still sigh and shake my head mournfully whenever I remember my sister? Some broken hearts really never mend. And of course, the questions pop up again. What if…?
James Ocholi was no ordinary, inconsequential man before God.
He was a devout, humble man. He served God in many ways. He was an ordained reverend of the Salem Family Church, though he did not flaunt the title like a badge of honour. He rather let his faith speak through his works.
Yes, faith without works is dead. But Ocholi combined faith and works. Those who knew him saw piety in him. They saw humility. They saw the unobtrusive, self-effacing nature of a man who knew God. A man who had been national secretary of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship.
When Ocholi was thrown out of his Sports Utility Vehicle on Kaduna-Abuja road last Sunday, and his body battered and mangled, it was no ordinary man that was being treated thus. It was a man of God, who was returning home to the God of man.
His time was up, we console ourselves. Yes, his time may have been up, but couldn’t he have slept, and not woken up? If Heaven was so much in hurry to have Ocholi, his wife and son back, because they were needed to sing tenor, soprano and bass in the choir above, could they only have been recalled in such cruel circumstance?
Cruel! I must watch my words. On Wednesday, at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, a special session of tributes had been held for Ocholi. Minister after Minister had spoken, recalling good things about the deceased and their departed colleague. Very moving and poignant. But the words that continued to resonate in my ears and mind came from Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh. He ended his oration by giving thanks and praises to God. He then declared:”God is too kind to do anything cruel.”
Profound. Thoughtful. Illuminating. God is too kind to do anything cruel. But who killed the Ocholis? The Devil? He was not supposed to have such latitude over the people of God. On that same road that day, armed robbers must have driven through safely. Assassins must have passed.
All sorts of malefactors would have travelled safely, so why did a godly family perish? Does the world now belong to the Evil One? Is mankind now helpless before Satan? Only he could have brought such cruelty to the Ocholis and their loved ones, since cruelty is his stock-in-trade.
But then, the question again (don’t forget that it’s a question asked in faith o, lest anybody accuse me of anything): why did God allow such cruelty to humanity, to the Ocholi family, to the government, to the church, the body of Jesus Christ, of which the late Minister was an ordained reverend gentleman? Why?
Who can claim to have all the answers? No man. The hidden things belong to God. In August 2013, my mother, and matriarch of the Adesina family had passed on, aged 75. Pastor Dayo Adewumi of my local church, Foursquare Gospel Church, had joined us to bid her a tearful farewell.
All the seven Adesina children were inconsolable, but we nursed our wounds quietly. We were still trying to come to full terms with the loss of the woman we called Mama, when my sister died last December, aged 53.
When Pastor Adewumi and his wife visited me in my Lagos home, where I was wailing like a wailing wailer, he prayed, and uttered something that was very instructive to me. He said:“Oh God, even as a pastor, this is rather too much for me to bear. Just about two years ago, I joined this family to bury their mother. All the children were there. Now, one of them has been taken away. This is rather shocking.”
True. We go into shock when some unfathomable things happen to the people of God. We ask questions, not out of unbelief, not out of backsliding or lack of conviction. I now dub those posers as ‘questions of faith.’ When I ask them, I am not querying God or His omnipotence. I have seen Him at work in diverse ways, and can never doubt His power and presence. I am a captive of faith in God. A lawful captive. God has a right to hold me. I am His bondservant. I have seen His footprints in the storms, in the skies, on earth, everywhere.
It is too late to stop believing. He is too kind to be cruel. Our Agric Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh was right. Also right is the writer, Juliette Adam, who declared:“Death is the opening of a more subtle life. In the flower, it sets free the perfume;in the chrysalis, the butterfly; in man, the soul.”
I mourn with the Ocholis. Only God can comfort them. As I condoled with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday in his office, and he told me about the steadfastness and dedication of the departed, I could see his pains.
He told me that when Ocholi had wanted to be governor of Kogi State on the platform of the then Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), “I joined him to campaign in almost all the local government areas in the state.” Well, the strife is o’er, the battle done.
James Ocholi is out of it all. I have questions. Questions of faith. But no matter what, I join the biblical Job in declaring:”Even if He slays me, I’ll trust in Him.”

My Samuel participated in an inter-house sports of his school and won 3 gold medals in athletics and other sporting events. Samuel, continue to make your mom proud and rule your world,” she wrote.

The professional waist trainer took to her instagram page to sensitize and to share the real cause of a kidney infection and also thank those who were genuinely concerned about her.

On a normal day I would just ignore everything people are saying bout my illness , but I decided not to because of two reasons 1: to make it very clear to everyone that waist training had absolutely nothing to do with me having a kidney infection and 2: to educate women out there about kidney infection, the causes and how to prevent it so it don’t happen to any1 because it can be deadly. Kidney infections typically occurs when bacteria enters your urinary tract through the tube that carries urine from your body ( urethra ) and begins to multiply.

Yesterday, Reggae icon, Majek Fashek visited the Christ Living Apostolic Ministries (CLAM) in Lagos where he gave thanks and made a speech about how he was saved from drugs.
Goldmyne TV reports that the popular singer who recently returned from rehab, said the church’s pastor, Apostle Wole Oladiyun supported him all through his stint at the rehabilitation facility in Abuja.
The music maestro was taken to an Abuja-based rehabilitation centre by philanthropists following his many episodes, and he was placed under intensive care. But when he had fully-recovered, Majek Fashek flipped the scripts. “It was wrong to say I was taken to a rehab,” the Rainmaker told TVC in January, and he denied reports denying the report of drug-addiction. “I only went into a seclusion for spiritual rebirth.”
Well, he finally has admitted he went to rehab, and even thanks God for delivering him from drug addiction.
Nigerian popular singer, Starboy Wizkid, has joined the list of Nigerian stars who have homes in the United States. In 2013, the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer bought his first Lekki, Lagos, home, and he was just 23.
Today, Wizkid, who gained global recognition after Canadian rapper Drake remixed ‘Ojuelegba’, has now bought a US home in yet-to-be-disclosed state, and shared the first photos on his Instagram page. “Crib so big I got no neighbors! ” The singer said in one photo, and in another, he added, “Living!”
Other stars who have homes in the United States include the P-Square brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, and Davido.

News made the rounds some weeks back that you were planning to remarry. Would the wedding bells ring again soon?
I really don’t like discussing my private life anymore because it is better to keep that part of your life secret. A lot of people are watching and sometimes you read a lot of negative comments about you which could make you want to derail, so it is better to keep matters of the heart close to the heart. I am the one in it and I know what is good for me. I am sorry; I don’t want to talk about anything that has to do with my private life.
She also spoke about her relationship with her fans:
Some people believe that you are arrogant and proud. Are you that kind of person?
I am not arrogant but sometimes I might not be in the mood for some things. A publisher of a magazine called me recently and told me that his people said they saw me at AMVCA and that I refused to grant them an interview. I explained to him that when I asked the reporter what the interview was about, she said it was about me. I didn’t want to answer some (personal) questions, so that was why I said that I was not answering any question that did not have to do with the event. I am not an arrogant person. I am very approachable and polite. I can be cranky sometimes but trust me; I would always fake a smile.
What ticks you off?
Some fans would look at me and say, ‘can’t you greet?’ and most times, I am older than such people. They would not say ‘hi’ to me but they expect that I should always wear a smile and wave at everybody. When I see elderly people, I always greet them first; that is the way I am raised.
I remember when I was in Atlanta and we were on our way to Jamaica with AY. We were in the Tube going to another side of the airport when I saw a Nigerian woman standing. I stood up and offered her my seat and she was shocked that I could do such a thing, especially as we were in the US. I appreciate my fans and there is never a dull moment when we are together. I smile and greet all my fans, but I may not take pictures all the time, especially when I’m not wearing make-up, when I’m tying a scarf or when I’m without my sunglasses. I don’t take such pictures because when they get posted online, some people would start adding their silly comments.
How do you react to such comments?
Sometimes, I check some comments on my Instagram page, greet some fans and reply others. I appreciate some people and follow them back and this makes them feel loved. You can imagine if Beyonce answers me on Instagram, I am not going to sleep that day.
Someone was complaining about how a Nigerian celebrity was wearing a wide smile on her face when she took a picture with Ciara. I said that if I had the opportunity to meet Ciara, I would be smiling like a little girl. The way Ciara took pictures with little children made me cry at home as I watched it. I called Darey and I began praying for him because he brought a beautiful soul to Nigeria. That little gesture from Ciara would change lives and I have learnt from it. Everything is not about money. “I was listening to his rap one day and liked the way he rapped. So I met him during Dr Sid’s wedding and we exchanged contacts.
So, we got talking and one day I invited him over to my place and he came with his manager. I cooked for him and we all ate. While we were discussing, I asked him if he would like to be featured as my boyfriend in the latest edition of Jennifer’s Diary and he responded positively.
Apart from work relationship, we have nothing between us. We work together and enjoy ourselves, that’s all.”
Both Falz and Funke Akindele walked out of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA 2016) with an award each (Falz won the Best Actor in a Comedy while Funke Akindele, the Best Actress in a Comedy)
Majid Michel has disclosed that he is suffering from a strange throat infection which has been affecting his voice delivery for the past 3 years…and He wants us to pray for him.
He says he has been diagnosed by doctors at both Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and 37 Military Hospital respectively but no disease has been discovered in his vocal cord.
