Our Nigerian Brethren have expressed their displeasure over the fact that the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens was arrested over the building in his estate that collapsed a few days killing about 34 people, while Prophet TB Joshua still remains free following the 2014 building that collapsed in his Synagogue Church of All Nations premises which killed 115 people.

What really is Justice???
I have no qualms seeing a young man who committed a crime pay for that crime. Life is sad, before Richard came along, you could not dream of buying a house in LEKKI for 20million naira, his dream was to make choice housing affordable and available. Somewhere down the line mistakes were made and lives were lost! And yes I agree…… Someone must pay!
Now my questions;

Why is he in handcuffs and remanded in prison when that ‘prophet’ whose building collapsed and killed more people than Ebola, Lassa fever and this alleged ‘LEKKI gardens’ put together is walking free??? Why is that prophet not in handcuffs too??? It was even alleged, that he didn’t show up in court the last time the courts sat. Is this true??? If it is true, then why is Richard ‘remanded’ in prison while Mr prophet ‘comes from home’??? Is there a special court for ‘prophets’ or do we have special ‘laws’ for them???

Is our government afraid of prophets???

Are the people who lost their lives in the Church less valuable than the people who lost their lives in the LEKKI Gardens saga?

My humble advice: Richard should be released to go home and attend hearings from home like the ‘prophet’. Or the ‘prophet’ should be picked up, handcuffed and locked in the same cell with Richard while he attends trial!
Or does the change we voted for include turning Nigeria into the African version of George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’, where “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others?”

I might not know law and justice, but I definitely know injustice!

A young student has decided to end his life after he failed the recently conducted UTME results.

The unidentified young man could not live with the fact that he could not not make the cut off marks in the examinations and felt the only way out is to end it all.

This is how a source in the know captured the ugly scenario:

“A student has allegedly killed himself over the issue of his UTME. This boy claims to be writing his UTME for the first time and reportedly scored 159 which gives him no chances of admission.

Officials should find something to do to this failure before it gets out of hand.”

The Central Bank of Nigeria last night revealed what really happened during the gas explosion at their Calabar, Cross River state branch.

Two persons, a staff and a construction worker died from the critical injuries sustained in the explosion.

Isaac Okoroafor, acting corporate affairs director of the bank gave the update.

He said:

“The fire, which broke out at about 12 noon in the banking hall of the premises, was apparently caused by a gas explosion from the air conditioners in the building which was undergoing some refurbishment at the moment.

As soon as the incident occurred, the CBN emergency alert system was activated, the Fire Service was called in, and the fire was immediately brought under control.

Following the explosion and fire, about twenty five (25) persons sustained various levels of injury, and are currently receiving treatment at hospitals in Calabar. Four of the injured have been discharged.

We are, however, very saddened to confirm that two of the critically injured, a CBN staff and a construction worker, have died at the hospital. We are now working with the bereaved families to determine next steps”, Okoroafor said.

The police had given a lower figure of 20 persons being injured, two of them in critical conditions.

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River, Mr Henry Fadairo said that the explosion, which caused panic in the state capital, was not a bomb blast as speculated.

The Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Mr. Richard Nyong, owners of the recently collapsed building in Lekki, Lagos state, has been charged to court by the Lagos State government, Punch reports.

Nyong, alongside a contractor were brought before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court on Friday, March 11, in handcuffs over negligence in the collapsed building that claimed the lives of 35 people.

The federal government has apologised to Nigerians for the persistent power failures, blaming the situation on gas failure as well as sabotage and vandalisation of power infrastructure.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by Segun Adeyemi, special adviser to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, the government said that all efforts were being made to rectify the situation and ensure a gradual improvement in the power situation.

“There will be a decent improvement in the power situation from this weekend, thanks to ongoing remedial efforts that will double the current power supply to 4,000WM. Getting back to the 5,074MW all-time high that was reached earlier will take a few more weeks,” Mohammed said.

The minister said that at a time the routine maintenance by the Nigeria Gas Company had affected the supply of gas to power stations, forcing down power supply from an all-time high of 5,074 MW to about 4,000MW, a combination of unsavoury incidents further crashed the power supply to about half that figure.

“The vandalisation of the Forcados export pipelines forced oil companies to shut down, making it impossible for them to produce gas. Then, workers at the Ikeja DISCOS, who were protesting the disengagement of some of their colleagues after they failed the company’s competency test, apparently colluded with the National Transmission Station in Osogbo to shut down transmission,” he explained.

“Finally, the unfortunate strike by the unions at the NNPC, over the restructuring of the corporation, shut down the Itarogun power station, the biggest in the country. Due to these factors, only 13 out of the 24 power stations in the country are currently functioning. It is this same kind of unsavoury situation that has affected fuel supply and subjected Nigerians to untold hardship.”

The minister condemned the situation in which some Nigerians, under the guise of the various unions in the oil and gas sector or sheer vandalisation, would continuously sabotage the country’s power infrastructure.

“The bitter truth is that for as long as these groups of Nigerians continue to sabotage the power infrastructure, Nigerians cannot enjoy a decent level of power supply. We therefore admonish all Nigerians who may be agitating for their rights in whatever form to refrain from any action that will further hurt the same people they claim to be protecting,” he added.

During the week, Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, had blamed Nigerians for sabotaging power infrastructure.

“On the issue of power, it seems Nigerians are their own problems. You can recall about four weeks ago, the power ministry came out to say that the megawatts we had was 5070, which is an all-time high in 16 years,” he said.

“A few days after, some people blew installations in Bayelsa, we lost about 1600 megawatts immediately. After that, installation was blown in Delta and we lost another 1,000 megawatts. What would the government do in that kind of circumstance?

“If the people who should be provided power are the ones sabotaging installations, they can’t turn round to say government is not providing power. Nigerians need to determine what they want. If South Africa has about 50,000 megawatts, it is because their own people are not sabotaging their installations, they are not going to blow up the lines. If Nigerians continue to blow up and sabotage, then they can’t come around to say that there is no power.”
