I Would’ve Dumped Music If Not For Project Fame – Jeffery Akoh

Jeffrey-500x336

For Jeffrey Ufedo Akor, winner, MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 8, it was jubilation all the way last Sunday, as he smiled home with the grand prize of N5 million, a brand new SUV and a recording contract worth millions of Naira.

For this feat, the 18-year-old Sound Engineering graduate of SAE Institute, Cape Town, South Africa has now joined the likes of Iyanya, Mike, Ayoola, Chidinma, Monica, Olawale, and Geoffrey as Project Fame superstars.

In this interview with TS WEEKEND, Jeffrey narrated his beneficial and life-altering experiences while the show lasted. Hear him: “It has been a completely exciting season with weeks of hard-work and dedication. It started with the auditions that later translated into eight weeks of fun, tension and scintillating performances for the 16 contestants that made it into the Academy. I have learnt a lot from this experience and I give God the glory.”

Project Fame has produced seven winners, how do you intend to rank first among the rest?

I will remain Jeffrey. The only thing I know I have to do is ensure I do good music. I intend to do music that will last, not for a week, or a year but evergreen. I want to take music to the next level.

What was your most challenging moment during the competition?

It was the day I was on probation and had to perform on stage again. It was the only day I cried. I cried because after I finished performing, Uncle Ben said: ‘West Africa, what is Jeff doing on probation!’ That really touched me, and I am grateful because it was the Faculty that saved me that day. If the Faculty hadn’t saved me that day, that would have probably being the end.

Which female contestant did you have a crush on during the course of the competition?

All the ladies are beautiful but I didn’t have a crush on any of them. We were all focused, and we all had our eyes on the grand prize.

As the winner of the competition, what is your present status on social media?

Wow! I’ve been overwhelmed with congratulatory messages from people, even as I am speaking, they have not stopped coming. I’ve been expressing my appreciation to them all. Winning the grand prize has really jerked up my popularity. I am really grateful to everybody that has helped me achieve success.

Which artiste would you like to work with?

I’d like to work with Yemi Alade again. She is a great artiste who is highly spirited. She has good energy too. I’d also like to work with Praiz, Cobhams, Timi Dakolo, and so many others. We have very amazing artistes in this country. If I could work with all of them, I would.

Why do you think West Africa voted for you?

I think it was just God’s favour upon me. I don’t think it was just because of my singing. God wanted to favour me that was why He allowed the people to vote for me. I thank them for voting for me and making my dream come through.

What’s your educational background?

I had one-year training in Sound Engineering at the SAE Institute, Cape Town, South Africa. But I still intend to further my education by getting a B.SC in Sound Engineering.

Which Football club do you support?

Ha! I’m a big fan of Manchester United FC. Man U no ni!

If you hadn’t won this competition, would it have had any effect on your love for music?

Hmmmm!  I would have been very, very disappointed. I participated in a competition with my brother when I was just 13-years-old and everyone thought we were going to win. In the end we didn’t get anything. So, when I registered for MTN Project Fame West Africa, my sister told me to be careful because she was sure if the first thing that happened to me occurred again, then I would just give music a break. If I had not won, I would have given music a break but now I won’t quit music. Music is my life; my everything. I sleep music, think music, eat music, and breath music. I want to use this opportunity to thank the judges, Faculty, Ultima Studios, MTN, viewers, and voters. Without them, Jeffrey would be nothing.

‘I Was Not Expecting To Win The Show’ – Jeff, Winner Of Project Fame Season 8

jeff1-800x445

Project Fame season 8 wrapped up this last saturday and Jeffery was the fortunate winner. Jeff said he was not expecting to win in the contest (he never expected it).

“I was surprised when they announced my name as the winner. I just believed that I was favoured.I can’t explain how I felt because I was so tensed,” he echoed.  According to Jeff, while the competition lasted, all the contestants were tipping Tunde as the potential  winner of the show. But this was never to be. “The truth is that all the finalists were looking up to Tunde. He was amazingly good.”

The 18-year  old sound engineering graduate from Cape Town said In a chat with WG.

He also said he would soon hit the studio to start recording some of his songs. He plays afro pop with a blend of RnB. “It’s  a different kind of music, he said adding, “ I will be doing great music that will actually convey great message to the people.”

Congratulations Jeff!

Happy Independence Day Nigeria! A Journey To Independence | Read.

Independence

55 years aback, Millions of ebony shining skinned individual meddled in this part of the world to form a country named Nigeria. From the stand point of crudeness, how ignorance bred colonialism – A sting never to be forgotten.

Those brutal stripes our fathers had borne so much hard work for no cost, we were slaved night and day. Although split into various clusters of ethnicity, colonized by people who saw us not as humans but as animals.

At the clock of 1914, we were amalgamated, controlled by one head light of power. As time went on, the baton of leadership was dragged from the hands of our dear colonial masters. We debated between Military rule and Democracy but weigh more in strength for Democracy we have only but stood for one government, a government for the people as the rule of law prevails over all ramifications.

Through this journey, states were formed out of regions, split into diversity, yet we have survived all attacks on unity. We have delved together in pains, cried alongside in times where blood was shed. We have held strong to oneness, moved from one tenure to the other and are proud to stand Head’s high to corruption with a blossoming economy. We have learnt to love, to accommodate justice in our hands to prevail over diversity.

From the North to the South, to the West and East, Nigeria being so rich in nature’s heritage has produced fertility. We have a large choice of wealth, ranging from Agriculture, Oil-produce and other Natural minerals.

Education had spread forth it’s wings and has embraced us to knowledge, we have held strong wisdom as key and has wroth wonders in and out of this dear country of ours.

We are 55 years stronger today. From crudeness, we have journeyed through ignorance to certainty, moved from dependence to freedom. We are a sovereign Nation, self subsistent, so powerful in influence. We are the Gaint of Africa-Nigeria.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA!

And a Happy Independence Day to our most distinguished readers! Have a wonderful day!

Man With 3 Wives Encourages Men To Marry More Than One Wife

man-married-3-women

Fresha Nyambura, Esther Nyaguthii and Agnes Wambui have been married to Charles Macharia for 30 years. The women are now jointly planning the payment of their dowry.

They organised an animated ceremony for first wife Nyambura last Saturday, September 26, in Murang’a town, Kenya, that saw them all dance with their husband and explain their unusual set up.

Most africans men have more than one wife, and African man with more than one wife tends to encourage others to follow suit. The African man with more than one wife wants other men to follow his steps.

“They respect and listen to me. My authority is never undermined,” First wife Nyambura said.

She said they have a systematic way of spending time with Macharia but did not give details. Second wife Nyaguthii said;

“He advised us when he decided to get other wives. We are satisfied; there is no need to cause problems. Men pretend to be faithful while keeping their other wives a secret, but we are all here together.”

Third wife Wambui said they love each other and are good friends. The three, who live in different houses, broke down their roles ahead of the dowry ceremony to Macharia, who gave them the money needed. Asked to introduce his family during the event, Macharia began by inquiring about attendants only interested in his polygamy.

He then asked those who attended because of their friendship to raise their hands after which he said;

Ghanaian Singer, MzBel pulls her Panty Down on Instagram

Very Popular and Controversial Ghanaian Singer, Mzbel who made our Top 20 List of the Most Beautiful Ghanaian Female Celebrities has just thrown away all manner of decency into the wind.

Apparently, she’s one controversial celebrity who would do almost anything to get the attention of many.

7 Popular Nigerian Rappers Who Have Successfully Transitioned Into Singers

Considering Fans, what they want and the current trend in the music industry are key factors in determining the kind of songs artistes will release and the genre those songs will fall.

This list takes a look at Artistes who started off a rap career as rappers but have since transitioned into singing, most of them combining rapping and singing together in their career.

1) Reminisce

reminisce

Reminisce started his career by recording an hardcore rap album at ID cabasa coded tunes studio, which was never released.

Later he showed his lyrical prowess as an English rapper on 9ice’s bachelor and ever since featuring 9ice.

Alaga Ibile is one of the indigenous rappers who ushered himself into the music scene with hardcore rap lines that made us fall in love with him.

But it appears like his peer, Olamide he has also shifted grounds heavily and has gone into commericial singing and we think he’s been quite successful with it.

On a song he featured Olamide and Phyno, Reminisce made it clear that Punchline don’t pay the bills anymore and that street singing is what brings in the cash, a claim that Mode9 chastised heavily and called all three artists on the song jokers in a recent interview.

Reminisce’s rap prowess has been on the low and these days he sings way more than before. Reminisce’s two singles that have been dropped after his ‘Baba Hafusa’ album, Gboriduro and Kpomo further buttress our point that the artist has transitioned.

Nigeria At 55: Read Full Text Of President Buhari’s Speech

PMB

“October 1st is a day for joy and celebrations for us Nigerians, whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in because it is the day, 55 years ago; we liberated ourselves from the shackles of colonialism and began our long march to nationhood and to greatness.

“No temporary problems or passing challenges should stop us from honouring this day. Let us remind ourselves of the gifts God has given us. Our Creator has bequeathed to us Numbers – Nigeria is the ninth most populated country on the planet. We have in addition arable land; water; forests; oil and gas; coastline; and solid minerals

“We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress.

“Countries far less endowed have made greater economic progress by greater coherence and unity of purpose.

“Nonetheless, that we have remained together is an achievement we should all appreciate and try to consolidate. We have witnessed this year a change in our democratic development.

“The fact that an opposition party replaced an entrenched government in a free and fair election is indicative of the deeper roots of our democratic system. Whatever one’s views are, Nigerians must thank former President Jonathan for not digging-in in the face of defeat and thereby saving the country untold consequences.

“As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation.

“My countrymen and women, every new government inherits problems. Ours was no different. But what Nigerians want are solutions, quick solutions not a recitation of problems inherited.

“Accordingly, after consultations with the Vice President, senior party leaders and other senior stakeholders, I quickly got down to work on the immediate, medium-term and long-term problems which we must solve if we are to maintain the confidence which Nigerians so generously bestowed on us in the March elections and since then.

“As you know, I toured the neighbouring countries, marshalled a coalition of armed forces of the five nations to confront and defeat Boko Haram. I met also the G-7 leaders and other friendly presidents in an effort to build an international coalition against Boko Haram.

“Our gallant armed forces under new leadership have taken the battle to the insurgents, and severely weakened their logistical and infrastructural capabilities. Boko Haram are being scattered and are on the run.

“That they are resorting to shameless attacks on soft targets such as I.D.P. camps is indicative of their cowardice and desperation. I have instructed security and local authorities to tighten vigilance in vulnerable places.

On power, government officials have held a series of long sessions over several weeks about the best way to improve the nation’s power supply in the safest and most cost-effective way.

“In the meantime, improvement in the power supply is moderately encouraging. By the same token, supply of petrol and kerosene to the public has improved throughout the country. All the early signs are that within months the whole country would begin to feel a change for the better.

“Preliminary steps have been taken to sanitize NNPC and improve its operations so that the inefficiency and corruption could be reduced to a minimum.

“Those of our refineries which can be serviced and brought back into partial production would be enabled to resume operations so that the whole sordid business of exporting crude and importing finished products in dubious transactions could be stopped.

“In addition to NNPC, I have ordered a complete audit of our other revenue generating agencies mainly CBN, FIRS, Customs, NCC, for better service delivery to the nation. Prudent house-keeping is needed now more than ever in view of the sharp decline in world market oil prices. It is a challenge we have to face squarely. But what counts is not so much what accrues but how we manage our resources.

“We have seen in the last few years how huge resources were mismanaged, squandered and wasted. The new APC government is embarking on a clean up, introducing prudence and probity in public financing.

“At an early stage, the federal government addressed the issue of salary arrears in many states, a situation capable of degenerating into social unrest. The APC government stepped in to provide short-term support to the debtor states and enabled them to pay off the backlog and restore the livelihood of millions of Nigerians.

“Fellow Nigerians, there have been a lot of anxiety and impatience over the apparent delay in announcement of ministers. There is no cause to be anxious. Our government set out to do things methodically and properly. We received the handing over notes from the outgoing government only four days before taking over. Consequently, the Joda Transition Committee submitted its Report on the reorganization of Federal Government structure after studying the hand over notes. It would have been haphazard to announce ministers when the government had not finalized the number of ministries to optimally carry the burden of governance.

“Anyway, the wait is over. The first set of names for ministerial nominees for confirmation has been sent to the senate. Subsequent lists will be forwarded in due course. Impatience is not a virtue. Order is more vital than speed. Careful and deliberate decisions after consultations get far better results. And better results for our country is what the APC government for CHANGE is all about.

“I would like to end my address this morning on our agenda for CHANGE. Change does not just happen. You and I and all of us must appreciate that we all have our part to play if we want to bring change about. We must change our lawless habits, our attitude to public office and public trust. We must change our unruly behaviour in schools, hospitals, market places, motor parks, on the roads, in homes and offices. To bring about change, we must change ourselves by being law-abiding citizens.

“Happy Independence Celebrations. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

2baba‘s commitment to the Nigeria project inspires the need to reiterate the message of peace and unity riding on a stirring performance of ‘National Anthem’ composed by late Pa Benedict Odiase (MON).

The song is produced by Bolji Beatz, a member of 2Baba’s Tek band and producer behind the Afrobeat-inspired banger “Jeje” off The Ascension album (2014).

As Nigeria turns 55 2Baba hopes this song can inspire hope and strengthen belief in the Nigerian project.

Recall last year, in a bid to Celebrate Nigeria’s 54th Independence, Google had a .gif doodle which featured the three most popular means of transport for daily commuters in Lagos – the Country’s Commercial capital – The Motorcycle (Okada), Bus (danfo) and tricycle (Keke Marwa).
