During a close door meeting on Thursday with Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, the Royal Traditional Council of Ife have insisted the Ooni of Ife, who news claim is dead, is still alive.
The delegates first told the governor in the presence of some journalists that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, was alive, contrary to the news in the media.

Led by the Lowa of Ife, Oba Joseph Ijaodola, the chiefs said it was regrettable that the Ooni was always a target of negative publicity in the media.
The Lowa said,
“We were all shocked when we heard the rumour of baba’s death. If at all such an incident had occurred, the Royal Traditional Council of Ife would be the first to know and equally break the news to the entire public.
“Sixteen of us are his chiefs and when he was travelling out, he didn’t look like he was going to die and should such a thing have happened to him, we would have been informed even before anyone would hear about it. We pray that Ooni Sijuade will live long in good health.
Governor Aregbesola commended the chiefs for holding the throne while Oba Sijade was away. He also prayed for sound health and long life for the monarch.

Actress, Tonto Dikeh has opened up on her online spat with luxury shopper, Pearl.
Recall few months ago a lady named pearl who is an online luxury shopper accused Tonto Dikeh of ordering for a bag and not paying. Apparently, pearl took to social media to call out the actress after allegedly trying to get accross to the actress to pay but to no avail.
The Actress later claimed the bag was fake and she couldn’t pay for such, despite the lady claiming Dikeh was aware she ordered for a replica bag.
Later that day, Dikeh posted a video of her house keeper burning the bags on instagram.

It happened a few months ago I just kept having somebody bugging me to patronize her .Personally I do not shop for myself. I have people who do all that.So I kept telling her I do not shop for myself, i don’t even do that in Nigeria.
It was my little friend’s birthday coming up and I had a similar bag, so I said ok, could you give me a bag and box that matches with that ?
I had not been in the country for almost two months, when it arrived. By the time I came to Nigeria, I looked at it. I mean, even if I had never used a designer before, I would know that was fake.
The bag was like $3000 because that was what she sent with the picture. I think they tend to send you the original copy of what ever it is. So that is what I got and I said I didn’t like it because it was fake and I couldn’t give that out as a gift.
On how she resolved it, she said
I actually burnt the box ..Yes I burnt the box ..I couldn’t keep the box because I didn’t want it to be said that I kept it and was going to use it at some point

I was going to give her but it was with my housekeeper for two months, waiting got her to take it. And when the instagram thing came out the next thing she sent me was a very insulting text message .

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death.
PUNCH Metro reports that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 02:00am on Eyin Iga Street. The robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.
It was learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, there was a struggle during which one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, cut her with a knife.
Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach.The robbery suspect reportedly lost balance and fell off from the two-storey building.

Neighbours, who learnt of the robbery, were said to have alerted the police from the Adeniji Adele Division. The other suspected robbers reportedly escaped after the police got to the area.
The policemen were said to have rushed Iginla, who was unconscious, to the Lagos Island General Hospital, while Adenike was also taken by her family to a private hospital. It was learnt that Iginla died in the hospital.
Adenike’s husband, who declined to give his name, said the robbers injured his wife in the hand with a knife, adding that there was a struggle during which Iginla was pushed off the building.
He said, “We cannot confirm the number of the robbers. They entered my apartment at about 2am. One of them injured my wife in the hand and there was a struggle. As this went on, other people called the police and a patrol van was sent to our street.
“The robbers quickly fled from the house. One of them, who had sustained a knife injury, fell off the staircases. The policemen took him to a hospital for treatment.”

A police source told PUNCH Metro that Iginla was not attended to at the general hospital for lack of a vacant bed. He added that the robbery suspect died at a health center on the Adeniji Adele Road.
He said: “The police patrol team responded to a distress call on the street at about 02:30am. A male robbery suspect, Iginla, was found injured. The suspect and others, who are still at large, allegedly entered Adenike’s room. While making away with possessions, the woman overpowered one of them, and stabbed him in the stomach.
“She was also injured in the hand. During the struggle, others escaped, but the robber fell off the building. The police took the suspect and the victim to the hospital.”
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Iginla’s girlfriend showed up at the police station, and wanted to know where he was being treated.
He said, “No one in the area knew the identity of the injured robber. His girlfriend showed up at the station, and was asking the police to let her stay with him, but they did not allow her.”
It was further gathered that the knife had been recovered, while the case had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation.

A young mother, who is being identified only by her nickname, Achun, was left shocked when she came home to find the locks to her house, in South China’s Guangdong province, had been changed.
The confused woman also stood and watched as her husband’s relatives moved furniture out of the apartment.
Achun, who gave birth to a baby girl on May 4, had moved back in with her mother in Hunan before the due date, as advised by her mother-in-law and husband. However, despite these hints, being locked out of her house still came as a shock when she attempted to move back on July 28.
This is because her husband, who had returned to Guangdong earlier, had been sending her messages and called frequently.She said
Everything has changed without a reason. He has not replied to my calls or messages,’
‘I thought we don’t want to have our own children any more since we both have kids from our previous relationships. But my husband and mother-in-law kept urging me to have one,’When I got pregnant, my mother-in-law said my husband was meant to have a son in his life,’ said Achun, whose mother-in-law went to the temple to pray for a grandson.
Achun and her husband got married in Guangdong province in September 2014…Contrary to what the family had wished for, Achun had given birth to a girl. She went back to the house she shared with her husband earlier this week, only to find that her husband’s relatives were moving things out of the house.
She said:
‘They won’t tell me where my husband was. I though he would still want the baby even if he wants me out of his life, so I left the baby on the bed and observed in the nearby grocery store, hoping that my husband will turn up.’
After realizing that she was locked out from her own home, Achun rented a tiny apartment for her and her new born child with the help of her old neighbours.
However, the apartment was so tiny that the abandoned mother and her new born daughter could only sleep on the floor with a paper board as a mattress.Achun is worried that they will not be able to find another place to live as the tenancy of the apartment ends on the August 2.

Father of the 20-month-old baby, Opeyemi Ogundele, who was allegedly stolen at a christening ceremony in Ogun State on Sunday, Daniel Ogundele, said his child is still alive and in the den of suspected kidnappers.
Aggrieved Ogundele said as at 10:00pm on Monday when he allegedly had a phone conversation with an Ifa priest, Chief Olansile Ifayemi, who was accused of masterminding the mysterious disappearance of the child has told him that his missing toddler was alive in his custody.
The baby was said to have been kidnapped about 1:30pm at the christening organised by the family of Mr. Olusola Osunleke for their newborn daughter. In the process of searching for the baby, residents discovered a suspected ritualists’ den in the area, which was adjacent to Osunleke’s house.

The discovery made angry residents to storm the area and vandalise the building, wherein human body parts, human effigy, fetish objects and masquerade regalia, among others, were found. But speaking yesterday, the father of the missing toddler, said he succeeded in reaching Chief Ifayemi on telephone on Monday night. Ogundele stated that the Ifa priest confirmed that the “stolen baby” was in his custody at Isabo area of Abeokuta and that the child was alive.
“We got his phone number and called him on Monday night . The priest said my child was still alive and with him at Isabo. He claimed that he was in Isabo area of Abeokuta. This was around 10 pm on Monday. He said nothing is wrong with my boy. He just asked us to stop people from destroying his house,”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, said he was not aware of the claims of the toddler’s father that the baby was with the suspected ritualist.

All Progressives Congress (APC) has blasted the allegations by the PDP stating that the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Mr. Lawal Daura, is a card-carrying member of the party (APC).
They reacted to the effect in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday, the 30th of July, 2015, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, challenged the PDP to publish any evidence it may have to confirm their allegations.
The statement reads:
”In the absence of that, the PDP must call another press conference to publicly apologize to all Nigerians for engaging in barefaced lies,
”We know that the psyche of the PDP has been badly affected by its loss of power at the centre. Even the party itself has admitted that much. That situation has now been compounded by the fact that the party is broke. It is therefore not a surprise that it is no longer able to think straight. The reality of its new situation is just beginning to dawn on it.”But we warned the PDP early on that being in opposition is not a walk in the park. We warned that while the party was used to eating its bread with butter on both sides, it will now be lucky to even have bread to eat,”
It also warned the PDP to spend more time in patching its tattered and battered umbrella than acting as a cog in the wheel of progress of the new Administration.
Two people were left dead on Thursday, the 30th of July, 2015 in Ezillo community, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State after allegedly consuming a fresh fish which is said to be forbidden in that area.
Another victim was also said to have become blind after eating the said fish. It was gathered that, the victims (names withheld) are labourers who were hired by one Mr. Alieze for a construction work.
Vanguard spoke to an eye witness who gave his name as Mrs. Odoh Onyinyechi that the victims who decided to go on break while working at the site, went to the near-by stream where they harvested the said fish. The specie of the fish is forbidden by the community. She said

A Plane wreckage, discovered off the coast of the Africa is said to be consistent with the missing Malaysian Plane, flight MH370.
Reports claim that, investigators confirm the debris, which was discovered close to the island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, is that of a Boeing 777.
The Malaysia Airlines jet – also a Boeing 777 – is said to have come down in the same ocean on March 8 last year.
CNN reports that Officials at Boeing have assessed photographs of the wreckage and agreed it is consistent with a 777 flaperon, part of the plane’s wing…
CNN added that there is a “unique element’ to the Boeing 777 flaperon which is apparent in the photographs, although they did not elaborate on what the detail is.
The plane was flying from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Beijing, China, when it is thought to have come down in the Indian Ocean on March 8 last year.There were 239 passengers and crew – most of whom were from China – on board when it disappeared.
Following the Economic Financial Crime’s Commission, EFCC’s invitation of Senate president, Bukola Saraki‘s wife, the National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress, Chief John Oyegun has exonerated the party from the current travails of Toyin Saraki.
Last week, the anti-grant agency recent arrested Mrs. Saraki of on issues of money laundering. However, many fingered the APC as being behind what they called a ‘witch hunt’ based on the way her husband assumed leadership of the Senate, against the wish and directive of the party.
But speaking with Journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Oyegun said:
“I want to assure you without doubts that the APC absolutely has nothing to do with the matter. She’s not on trial by the way. It is an investigation that has to do with the Senate President’s wife.“You saw all the speculations in the media. As a matter of fact, this could have been triggered by the opposition party itself. The PDP has its branch in Kwara.
“They have to be nudged to make a denounce that they were not the originators of the petition or whatever triggered this investigation.“We are completely, totally, absolutely, innocent of it. What we have not done like in the PDP days is to rush and interfere with the processes of the EFCC which our president has made quite clearly. Everybody should be ready to carry out their legitimate functions without interference. The EFCC is doing what it thinks it has to do.”

Speaking on the crisis that rocked the National Assembly and in particular, the House of Representatives, Oyegun expressed happiness that the issue had been amicably resolved.Oyegun also commended what he called the patriotism of Speaker, Yakubu Dogara for toeing the party’s line eventually.
“The misunderstanding in the House of Representatives has been very very amicably resolved thanks to The intervention of Mr. President who again made it quite clear with everybody, that there is no alternative but to listen to what the party says.“I want to emphasise the fact that all of us were what we were, what we are thanks to the platform that the party provided for everybody.“I think his message resonated very intensive with all the members of the House. He still did not interfere. I want to make that very very clear and his parting words to us was that the presiding leadership of the House and the party should go and resolve whatever issues there are that was militating against the resolution of the problem and that is what exactly happened.
“When we were leaving there I promised, the press was very anxious to hear that A, B and C have been appointed to whatever positions but that is not what happened. I promised that within a few hours, 4 hours as I said definitely by the next morning, the nation will be glad knowing that this issue would have been resolved and put behind us.
“We left there into consultations and discussions with the presiding officers of the House of Representatives.“Let me take this opportunity to pay tribute to their maturity to their sense of responsibility, tribute to their loyalty of the party and above all tribute to their sense of general good meaning their patriotism displayed by the Speaker and his Deputy. It did not take long, necessary concessions that had to be made were made.

Precisely two months after losing power at the national level and in majority of the states, the national leadership of the former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has concluded plans to sack half of its workforce.
The decision of the National Working Committee of the party was communicated by National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo to all its directors.
Oladipo made the party’s decision known via a memo dated July 29, 2015, which was directed to “all directors and PS/DD/HOD/SAs/PAs and Establishment Staff” of the party in Abuja.
It was titled “Re-organization and restructuring of staff at the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Oladipo said the decision to cut down on the number of staff and other measures were taken at the 406 meeting of the NWC, where he said the report “on the reorganization and restructuring of staff at the national secretariat” and decisions was approved.
Apart from the reduction in the number of the staff on the payroll at the party’s headquarters, he said the salaries and allowances of those to be left behind would also be cut by as much as 50 per cent.
He listed the decisions to include “reduction of the allowance of all NWC members by 50 per cent and reduction in the number of security personnel attached to the national officers by 50 per cent.”
Other measures included “reduction of the salaries and allowances of all staff (Establishment and Staff of NWC members) by 50 per cent, effective August, 2015.
Oladipo added that “Establishment staff who would remain are required to obtain individual letter of re-validation from their state chapters within one month of this circular as to their suitability for service at the national secretariat.”
Before the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was the presidential candidate of the party, by President Muhammadu Buhari, who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, the PDP was usually being funded by the Presidency.
Apart from this, it also got money from the state governors, majority of whom were unable to deliver their states to the party during the last elections.

The party also got money from selling of forms to aspirants. But a source within the party said the “party lacks transparency and proper accountability.”
Investigations by our correspondent indicated that the decision to reduce the staff strength of the party was taken about a month ago by its NWC.
The NWC was said to have been angered by the decision of the workers of the party to collect furniture allowance.Besides, the members of staff of the party were said to be privy to several withdrawal of money by the NWC members.
A senior staff of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity said,
“We are in trouble in this party. The NWC members are lords unto themselves.
“There is no one to control them and the finances of the party. They have paid themselves several allowances. Even during the last Sallah break, they took money.
“But because we demanded for our furniture allowance, see the memo they gave us. The idea behind this is to sack us and then they will bring in their cronies.”

Apparently, Amber Rose has been teaching her 2-year-old son Sebastian some English vocabulary.
Thanks to mommy, Her son’s vocabulary now includes the word “Conversate” – which apparently has no meaning.
Amber proudly posted her lesson on Instagram, then removed it after a flurry of criticism.
She asked him “Hey Sebastian, what’s the new word we learned this week?”
He said “Conversate”.
Then she asked him what it meant and he said “To engage in conversation“.

Critics and trolls came for the mother of 1, telling her how bad and incorrect that grammar is, and how bad she was to teach her son wrong grammar.
Amber was pissed at all the criticism on social media, telling friends she knows “conversate” is slang, but here’s the thing, people speak slang! So she says … what, people aren’t supposed to teach kids words like “fleek,” “turnt,” etc?
Sebastian’s actually a little brainiac, he can already name the planets and identify types of dinosaurs.
So she is doing a good job.
She has since taken down the video from her Instagram page.
