The lady who was ridiculed for allegedly eating N12k worth of meal during a date and being unable to pay, has taken to Twitter to share her side of the story.

Recall that a video that recently trended online shows the moment she was embarrassed by a young man who insisted that she must pay for eating 12,000 naira food.

It was alleged that she ordered a more expensive dinner than the man could afford, so he told her to pay for it. Things escalated quickly and she followed him to his car where he insulted and berated her for being unable to pay her own bills. Watch here

Following the massive criticisms she received on the internet for allegedly eating more than she could afford, the lady has come out to explain her side of the story.

In a series of tweets, the woman identified as @DoreenKimberly1 on Twitter, narrated how she met the young man who invited her on a date. She recounted how they went out together on Saturday, May 13, and ate a meal that cost 12k.

However, the man began complaining about his bank app and went to his car to wait for his friend, whom he had called to help with the payment.

When the friend arrived, things took a different turn as he asked her to leave her phone at the restaurant and return to pay the bill the next day.

She said she became furious and said she would have paid for the food if her phone battery was not low. Fortunately, she eventually found a way to charge her phone and pay the bill and left the scene.

She added that she is planning to sue the man for filming her without her consent, and making the video public to spite and publicly embarrass her.

“I met this guy on the way to my house and he chased me down with his car to get my phone number. I didn’t want to give him my number but I didn’t want to seem disregard condescending so I have him the number and left. Webpage been talking for a while albeit not consistently

On the day that this video was recorded, he kept calling me to get ready. When I was done, he drove down to pick me up from my location. We then went to the restaurant. He was talking about his bank app having issues but said he was trying to resolve it.

After eating, he kept saying that his bank app was having issues and after using my power bank to charge his phone, he went to the car to stay. According to him, he was still trying to resolve the issue. He told me to just wait inside.

As I was still waiting…he told me that his friend was coming to help him settle the issue…the said friend came and was still saying the same thing…I asked him what was going on and he told me to still wait that he was making some “business” calls…For 12k?🤦🏽‍♀️

As I was still waiting inside, his friend came into the restaurant and told me just drop my phone for the restaurant and come back to pay the bill the next day…I was so shocked to hear that so I went to the car to ask the guy I came with what the issue was

I got to the car and knocked on the window, they didn’t want to open the car or the car window until later on…when they opened the car window, I was already very angry and I started shouting…that was when his low life friend started to record me

Started to tell me that I should drop my phone and all other things he said. I was not really aware he was recording until later on when I saw the way he was holding his phone weirdly.

I told them not to worry anymore that I’ll pay the bill. He depleted my power bank battery and I asked around for a charger inside the establishment as my phone died but didn’t get. I then told him to give me a charger or power bank so that I can pay and leave

All they did was to keep recording me and saying nonsense. It was a security guy that saw the drama that later went around to get a charger for me and I went inside, charged my phone and when my phone came on, I went to the counter, asked for their account number and paid the bill

After I paid the bill, I came outside. These guys were still waiting and when they saw I had paid, they zoomed off leaving me there to my fate. It was late at this point. I got a car to take me home afterwards. This event happened on the 13th of May.

I was alerted to the video by a friend of mine who told me he saw a video of me trending on TikTok..I searched up the page and was shocked to see that video. You may not understand the anger and hurt I’ve felt these past days.

In all…I blame myself for giving my number out to a guy that I should not even have given access to me in any way.”
