Popular skit maker, Ogechi Alozie, has raised an alarm over a new tactic being used by kidnappers, after she escaped being kidnapped in Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to the content creator, the suspected kidnappers had reached out to her via Instagram, claiming they wanted her to work on a commercial advert for a popular telecom company.

She said they invited her to an eatery in Ikeja late at night to sign the contract, in spite of her asking for it to be moved to the next day.

Upon getting there, following their insistence to wrap up the contract signing that night, she met a man instead of the woman she was speaking to over the phone.

She said she had gone to the eatery with her PA, and the man got infuriated that she brought her personal assistant and told her she should have come alone.

Ogechi further revealed that after the man met with some other guys who arrived shortly after in a car, they decided to change locations.

However, the man told her to book a ride home for her personal assistant as she was not needed. Ogechi said that after she tried to get into the ride after it arrived, the seemingly disappointed man tried holding her back with mouth-watering offers, which he claimed came in “batches.”

Veteran Nigerian musicians, Tony Tetuila, Eedris Abdulkareem, and ADX of Artquake music duo, have been spotted having a good time together in a club.

A video shared online by the ‘Alanta’ crooner shows the three singers dancing and vibing to music at the club. They all appeared to be in high spirits and enjoying each other’s company.

Veteran Nigerian pop musician, Chris Mba is dead.

The Abia State-born artist died on Wednesday, May 3 at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.

Michael Odiong, the general manager of Premier Music, who confirmed his death in a post on Thursday, disclosed that the musician died on Wednesday night due to a heart-related disease.

Recall that in 2019, journalist Azuka Jebose shared on Facebook that the singer had sent him a distress message on WhatsApp, seeking urgent financial assistance to pay for his hospital treatment at LUTH.

He quoted him saying, “Jebose, this is a serious health challenge for me. Please, my brother, help me. We buy drugs, and the hospital bed costs N50,000 daily.”

Chris Mba was famous in the 80s for his signature Jerry curl and hits like ‘Funky Situation’, ‘Love Everlasting’, ‘Baby Don’t Cry,” and ‘Making My Way.

In other news, a couple based in the UK has admitted to separately seeking the services of a witch doctor to kill each other.

In a rather sad development, a yet-to-be identified woman has reportedly abandoned her newborn baby with a sorrowful note in Cameroon.

The baby was found in the wee hours of Thursday, May 4, 2023, beside MIDENO in Nkwen, Bamenda, North, North West region of Cameroon.

“The baby was discovered around 6:00am. After notifying the quarter head and other authorities, the child was taken to the Health Centre where he was confirmed to be doing well in health,” a source told newsmen.

The child has reportedly been taken to the police station for further procedures on his welfare.

In the handwritten note which showed the mother’s despair and hopelessness, she revealed that the child’s name is Michael, born on April 26th 2023, and further disclosed other details about his health status.

She stated that she had no choice but to abandon her baby in the hope that a good Samaritan would find him. She added that she doesn’t have money or the resources to care for the child, so she had to make the hard decision to leave him so he would have a chance at a better life.

The note reads,

“I am sorry I had to do this but I am left with no choice because I want my baby to live a happy life. I have nothing and no one to help me and nothing to start up a small business that can sustain the baby and I. Please help me take good care of him and I pray God bless you and grant your heart desire.

The baby’s name is Michael and he was born on the 26th of April 2023. He has taken his fist vaccine which is “BCG” and he is still to be circumcised.

God bless you and your household.

A UK-based Nigerian man has reportedly sent his wife and children back to Nigeria after she worked hard to pay his tuition at a UK university.

According to a lady who relayed the incident online, the man travelled to the UK to study and took his wife and kids along as his dependents.

Upon their relocation, his wife got a full-time job to pay their bills and his school fees till he graduated from school.

Sadly, when he completed his studies and got a job, he got a certificate of sponsorship (CoS) from his UK employer and didn’t include his family in the visa.

He then asked his wife and children to return to Nigeria for reasons best known to him, knowing fully well that their dependent visa expires in May.

The lady who recounted the incident said the woman involved is a close friend of hers, and she is currently at a loss for what to do because all of her money was spent on paying her husband’s tuition.

A video shared online captures the moment a baby crawled on stage while a South Korean girl band, NMIXX, were performing at a concert.

In a video trending on Twitter, one of the singers, Kyujin, seemed to be taken aback by the crawling baby and rushed to carry and hand him over to his mother.

A Twitter user, who witnessed the incident, explained that the baby had been in a stroller next to security with noise cancelling headphones on and had been sleeping for the most part of the show.

However, when he woke up from his nap, his mother carried him for a bit until the ‘girls started interacting’ and he managed to crawl onto the stage.

She, however, stated that it was irresponsible of the mother to sit her baby on the stage, adding that “soon as the girls started interacting everyone got out of their SEATED seats and started pushing towards the stage.”

“Everyone was fighting to get to the front it was literally just insane I cannot,” the shocked fan added.

In other news, officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Enugu Zonal Command have apprehended 18 alleged online fraudsters in various locations within Enugu on May 1, 2023.

One of the accused is Chigozie Philips, the founder of the suspected cybercriminal training facility, Holy Family School in Abakpa, Enugu.

Kingsley Okorie, Henry Chidiebere, Michael Chukwuemeka, Joacin Kelvin, Kelechi Ibe, Chinonso James, Udeh Isaiah, and Nelson Nnaji are the thirteen of his proteges that were detained during the sting operation.

Others include Desmond James, Raymond Chinaza, Ifeanyi Ozor Bright, Etuma John, Okafor Chukwuemeka, Ozoma Chinonso Anthony, Uchenna Aka, and Ozor Celestine.

Twenty cell phones and two computers were found on the suspects. Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will be charged in court because they have provided helpful statements.

The policewoman, who controls traffic at Sabo bus-stop in Lagos state, bought packs of socks and gave them out to students who didn’t have one on Thursday morning, May 4.

A video interview of a 21-year-old businesswoman who claims to have acquired a Mercedes Benz SUV worth N36 million with her Okrika business is currently trending on Facebook.

[Okrika is basically the sale of second-hand clothing in Nigeria. People buy clothes in bulk from America or Europe, and then sell them at a cheaper rate in local or online markets.]

The young lady, identified simply as Amaka, was interviewed by content creator MC Mbakara after seeing the luxurious car she was driving.

When asked how she was able to afford the car, she said she runs an Okrika business that rakes in millions of naira monthly and attributed the high turnover to using the right business strategy.

She explained that she majorly sells her wares on social media, and so far, she has been able to acquire a car worth N36 Million and also pay N9 million rent for her apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos, among other achievements.

Popular Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-oke has revealed that her daughter was almost poisoned to death by her ‘roommate or friend’.

Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, the thespian narrated how her daughter was hospitalized after someone poured hypo bleach in her drinking water.

She said she received a distressing call around 3:45am three weeks ago that her daughter, Jumoke, had drank Hypo.

According to the mother of three, she was surprised by the news and quickly went to the school’s hospital, where she met her daughter writhing in pain and discomfort.

It was later discovered that someone deliberately laced her daughter’s water bottle with Hypo, with the intention to kill her.

Ronke said her daughter woke up in the middle of the night to drink water after which she started feeling excruciating pain. She said her daughter was taken to three different hospitals before she got better.

The thespian, who said she doesn’t want to reveal the name of the private university, warned the school and its authorities to do better.

“I bought two fresh human legs for N20,000” – Suspected ritualist confesses

A 35-year-old suspected ritualist, Ifasoji Ayangbesan, has confessed to buying two human legs for N20,000.

Ifasoji was arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly killing and dismembering a young lady, identified as Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The Ogun State Police Command released a statement last week announcing Ayangbesan’s arrest and accusing him of offering a N1 million bribe to police officers in exchange for his release.

While being paraded before newsmen on Wednesday, May 3, Ayangbesan denied participating in the victim’s killing, which reportedly took place on January 28, 2023.

Ifasoji, who claimed to be a herbalist and not a ritualist, said he bought two fresh human legs but was not involved in the murder of the victim.

“I bought two fresh human legs, but I was not involved in the murder of the victim. I was approached by my friend, Lukman, who told me he had a pair of legs to sell. Though I told him I did not need them, he convinced me to use them for ritual to better my life, and I agreed.

I, however, told him I did not know how to make money rituals as I was not taught that as a traditionalist. He then referred me to his friend from Oye, popularly known as Egbeji in Isiwo.

After I was taught how to go about it, I burnt the legs and kept them in my house with plans to complete the ritual when I returned from Ajah because I had a job to do there.

However, my daughter called me while I was at Ajah that the police had come to the house looking for me. So, I later sneaked in and took away the burnt legs so that I would not be caught with any evidence because I heard that Lukman had been arrested and he had mentioned my involvement in the case.

On the allegation of bribing police, Ayangbesan said that a lawyer had instructed him to provide N10 million to secure his release, but he was only able to gather N1 million.

“I did not offer the police any bribe. When I heard that the police were on the lookout for me, a lawyer told me to get N10 million to set myself free, but I told him I could not raise the money. However, I was able to raise N1 million.

Unfortunately for me, the lawyer claimed that I had informed someone about him asking me for money. He then instructed me to place the money in front of him and he took a picture, and then I was arrested. I never offered police money.” He said.

IMSU lecturer suspended indefinitely for slapping student

The administration of the Imo State University, Owerri, has suspended Dr. Desmond Izunwanne, one of its lecturers indefinitely for reportedly hitting female students who showed up late and wearing non-departmental attire.

Recall that a video surfaced online showing the moment he slapped the student for wearing a mufti to class, despite her explanation that she had just returned from the hospital.

In a statement, Ralph Njokuobi, a spokesman for the university, called the lecturer’s behavior “barbaric and unbecoming.”

According to Njokuobi, a three-person disciplinary committee was established to “unravel the immediate and remote causes that led to his uncouth behavior.”

The statement reads;

“It has come to the notice of the Management of the Imo State University that the viral video circulating around the globe about the indecorous actions of a lecturer of the university, Dr Desmond lzunwanne of the Physiology Department, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the Imo State University, Owerri, against four students of the university.

Management viewed the action of the lecturer as barbaric and unbecoming of such a person occupying that position. At the end of the management meeting held on Tuesday 2 May 2023, management approved the suspension of the lecturer, Dr Desmond lzunwanne, till further notice and has set up a three-man disciplinary committee to unravel the immediate and remote causes that led to his uncouth behaviour.

The university implored the general public and indeed all Human Rights Organisations to allow it conduct a proper investigation and recommend appropriate sanctions where necessary in line with the staff conditions of service.

Management will not accept any breach in the academic and moral standards expected of any lecturer irrespective of how highly he is placed in the university and sincerely believe in rules of engagement between lecturers and students. The University is on top of the game as it affects the matter under review. Thanks for your understanding and patience.”
