Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, popularly known as Drake, has taken to social media to share his father’s ancestry results, showing he’s Nigerian.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the international music act shared a screenshot of the DNA ancestry result, which showed he’s 30% Nigerian.

According to Drake, his dad, Dennis Graham, had sent him a screenshot of his DNA test that showed they were more Nigerian than any other race or tribe in the world.

Excited about the discovery, the “One Dance” crooner asked if he could finally call himself a Nigerian man.

“These are my dad’s results; does this mean I’m a Nigerian man finally?” he wrote.

In related news, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has revealed that she is 43% Nigerian.

The former American actress made this known in the latest episode of her podcast, Archetypes, where she opened up about her genetic heritage and expressed a desire to know more about her roots.

Speaking with Senegalese-American actress and comedian Issa Rae, Nigerian-American comedian and writer Ziwe Fumudoh, and professor Emily Bernards, Meghnan said she took a genealogy test which revealed that she is 43% Nigerian.

“I just had my genealogy done a couple years ago. I’m 43% Nigerian, “she said.

Reacting to the revelation, Ziwe replied, “No way!”

A shocked Ziwe further asked, “Are you serious? This is huge. Igbo, Yoruba, do we know? “

“I’m going to start to dig deeper into all of this because anyone that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, is just like, what?” Markel responded.

The reality TV star and realtor, in a post shared via his Instastory, stated that cases of fornication, adultery and scam will slow down the queue on judgement.

According to him, there are more cases of these sins than any other sin, hence they would delay the queue when people are being judged for their deeds and actions on earth.

He knocked Adekunle Gold for not being his true self and accused him of constantly imitating Burna Boy’s “posture, smile, and glasses.”

A Kenyan woman is alleged to have murdered her 3-year-old son and dumped the body in a quarry because her new boyfriend didn’t want a child.

A Facebook user identified as Ayoki disclosed this on the platform on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

According to Ayoki, the incident happened in Obunga, Kisumu County, and the woman has been arrested and taken into custody.
 

“A lady in her twenties from Obunga strangled to death her three-year-old son and dumped the body in Kanyakwar Quarry. Locals who saw her raised an alarm when she tried to escape.

She was arrested by the area chief and booked into the Obunga police station. It is said that the lady was frustrated with life and was about to move in with a new boyfriend who didn’t want a child. She then thought it wise to take her child’s life,” he wrote on Facebook.

In other news, the police in the Federal Capital Territory have detained a 16-year-old boy identified as Emmanuel John after being accused of killing his father, Monday John, by beating him.

According to police sources, on May 2 at around 10 p.m., Monday and his wife, Mercy John, got into a disagreement at their house and Emmanuel struck his father with a pestle.

It was said that the couple had a heated dispute that became physical and Emmanuel attacked his father while siding with his mother.

He grabbed up the pestle and used it on his father during their argument. After collapsing, the father was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

According to a police source, on May 3, one Yusuf Ayuba submitted a case of culpable homicide to the Karshi Police Station.

He claimed that after the completion of the police inquiry, Emmanuel would be taken into custody by the police and charged in a juvenile court.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, spoke on the event during a news conference on Friday. He claimed the suspect smacked his father’s head hard.

South African rapper, Sesethu Myeki, better known as Big Xhosa, has issued a public apology to his girlfriend for cheating on her multiple times.

Controversial Nollywood actress, Judy Austin has taken to social media to brag about God’s love and faithfulness in her life.

The thespian, who is the second wife of actor Yul Edochie, is seen in a video that was posted online expressing gratitude to God for always loving her and fighting her battles.

She recounted how God saved her and her baby during childbirth, stating that she gave birth when it seemed like it would not happen.

“I don’t know where to start from, God loves me so much. I know it might sound strange to a lot of people, but God loves me so much. I don’t know if he loves everyone as much as he loves me. Peace Bright who revealed that she is a virgin stated that she never forced her beliefs on anyone and only looked to promote sexual purity.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva has stated the reason why she would never allow a movie to be filmed in her home.

She revealed this during “The Roundtable Lekki,” a conference for youth development. The actress claims that making movies involves a lot of people, many of whom she wouldn’t want in her personal space.

Joke Silva underlined the value of Nollywood having studios and sound stages that would give appropriate settings for filmmaking.

In her words;

“We shoot in apartments these days. But, I won’t allow movies to be shot in my home; it won’t happen.

I know the number of people that are brought into a shoot. There may be two people in a scene, but to shoot it, there will probably be about 20 people there. That means 20 people will put their hands on my wall, block the loo, and do other things.

We need to build our studios and sound stages, just like American filmmaker, Tyler Perry, has done. He built one of the biggest sound stages in the world.

The thing with sound stages is that there are usually facades. I once shot a movie in France, but all the interior shots were taken in London, United Kingdom.

All we did in France were the exteriors shots to give the ambience of that country. Sound stages give one control. It allows one to make movies at one’s desired pace.”

Speaking on the effects of streaming platforms in Nollywood, she said;

“Streaming platforms have made it easier for producers to be able to exhibit their works. Technology has done that for us. There is a wide range of opportunities right now when it comes to movie distributions. Streaming platforms help us connect to a global audience.”

Controversial Nigerian rapper, Speed Darlington has opined that renting a property rather than buying one in a foreign country is a better option.

In his opinion, owning a home in a different state or area would make it more difficult to leave immediately in the event of unanticipated circumstances.

He suggested that renting a house would be a better choice for a non-native resident than purchasing land.

In his words;

“It’s better to rent than to buy houses, especially in another man’s land. If you buy a house, over time it [the place] gets crowded. Nollywood actor Ken Erics got a resounding “yes” after he proposed to Jasmine, the daughter of John Okafor; who is popularly known as Mr Ibu.

Jasmine posted the video of the proposal and gushed about how much she loved the actor and how beautiful love was.

Jasmine who divorced her husband of nine months a while back thanked Ken Erics for rekindling her love life and making her feel in love again.

Taking to her Instagram page she captioned her video;

“I have tasted Your Love! And it’s so sweet!
Thank you so much for reviving my love life! You made me believe I could love again! Cheers to forever with you @kenerics.

There is madness in loving you, but it is that lack of reason that makes it feels so flawless. Your laughter is what I am most craziest about”.

Netizens have reacted to the video expressing disbelief with the relationship and claiming it to be a movie but the couple have only continued to express their love on their pages.

“Fighting on social media can’t change court verdict” – Reno Omokri informs party supporters

Political activist, Reno Omokri, has advised opposition parties to refrain from social media brawls since election petition tribunal judgments would not be influenced by it in his opinion.

This comes before the presidential election petition court’s scheduled hearing of the petitions contesting Bola Tinubu’s election as the next president on Monday, May 8.

Reno Omokri encouraged the opposition parties to work toward peace while stressing that the country’s destiny will be determined by the court’s recognition of the President.

He announced this on his Twitter page and urged Nigerians to choose a cause to support in order to improve their country.

He wrote;

“Realise and accept that elections are over. The only hope for a change in who the next President will be is the courts. Fighting supporters of other parties on social media won’t affect the judicial outcome. So, let us heal and behave like human beings with a common destiny.

The election brought about identities like Obidients, BATists, and Kwankwasiyya. Now, we need to step out of that limited circle and resume our original identity as Nigerians. Instead of abuse, let us amuse each other. Rather than curse, let us chart a new cause.”

A viral video of a mother who dyed her young baby’s hair to match hers has stirred reactions online.

Netizens have taken to the comment section to clamor for the need for Child protective services in Nigeria to curb such activities.

The video making rounds on social media captured a mother showing off the state of her child after changing the color of her hair.

The toddler had golden hair that had been bleached with chemicals. and the mother could not contain her happiness in the short video.

Reacting to this, people demanded for child protection agency in Nigeria, exactly like in the United States of America.

“I’ve have not been at peace since my daughter returned to school where she was poisoned” – Ronke Oshodi-Oke

Popular Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-oke has revealed that she has been restless ever since her daughter returned to school following the poisoning incident.

Recall that the actress raised alarm online a few days back that her daughter was allegedly poisoned by her roommate and rushed to three different hospitals before she regained her health.

Sharing an update with The Punch, Ronke stated that she suspected foul play and does not believe her daughter tried to take her own life.

She added that the girl, however, returned to the same school against her wishes and her mind has not been at rest since them but she is waiting on the school to conclude their investigations and tell her the culprit.

In her words;

“I cannot be at peace letting her go back to the same school. I have called her more than five times today (Thursday). Whenever I call and she does not answer the phone, I would be worried. However, I know the people in the school would have seen the video I made.

I will still go there on Monday to have a meeting with them. If they don’t tell me what I want or respond well, that is when I will mention the name of the school. We don’t know the people who actually did it, but according to them (the school), they are investigating the issue.

The devil is living in some people’s children. The children we are talking about here are between the ages of 16 and 20. I see them as children, and I wonder why such children could think of doing something so evil. When they become proper adults, what would they then do?

I did not let her go back without strong warnings. I told her that whenever she wants to eat, she should be careful. I also told her that she should never leave her food or drink unattended to for whatever reason, even if she is going to the toilet.”

Teenager kills his father while defending his mother in Abuja

The police in the Federal Capital Territory have detained a 16-year-old boy identified as Emmanuel John after being accused of killing his father, Monday John, by beating him.

According to police sources, on May 2 at around 10 p.m., Monday and his wife, Mercy John, got into a disagreement at their house and Emmanuel struck his father with a pestle.

It was said that the couple had a heated dispute that became physical and Emmanuel attacked his father while siding with his mother.

He grabbed up the pestle and used it on his father during their argument. After collapsing, the father was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

According to a police source, on May 3, one Yusuf Ayuba submitted a case of culpable homicide to the Karshi Police Station.

He claimed that after the completion of the police inquiry, Emmanuel would be taken into custody by the police and charged in a juvenile court.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, spoke on the event during a news conference on Friday. He claimed the suspect smacked his father’s head hard.

Garba said,

“It all happened when the suspect’s mother and father engaged each other in a physical fight.
The suspect took sides with his mother and used a pestle to hit hard on the father’s head which eventually led to his death.
The suspect will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of investigation.”

Nigerian disc jockey and singer, DJ Cuppy, has opined that having money helps make life easier.

The billionaire’s daughter, who is currently on vacation in the Maldives, took to her social media page to share this.

According to her, she enjoys traveling because it involves taking time to rest which was essential.

She stated that traveling reminded her how important it was to take care of one’s self and contrary to popular belief, having money helps to feel relaxed.

Nigerian disc jockey and singer, DJ Cuppy, has responded to a netizen who expressed reservations about her partner, Ryan Taylor.

The Twitter user, identified as Ruth, has taken to micro-the blogging platform to share her opinion about Cuppy’s partner, stating that she doesn’t trust Ryan without going into detail.

“I don’t trust Dj Cuppy’s boyfriend,” she wrote.

Sonia Ekweremadu, the ailing daughter of embattled former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has spoken on her parents’ conviction.

It was earlier reported that a UK court sentenced Ike Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months imprisonment while his wife, Beatrice, bagged four years and six months imprisonment for organ trafficking.

A medical doctor who was the third accomplice in the suit, Dr. Obinna Obeta, was also sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for aiding and abetting.

After a six-week trial, the trio were found guilty on Thursday, March 23, of arranging the travel of a young trader to Britain with the goal of exploiting his kidney. Read here.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC shortly after the court judgment, Sonia said she feels guilty because her parents are in this situation because of her.

“Life is just so dynamic. One day, you are in your house chilling, the next day, your whole life is turned upside down. That is my main focus. I want to try and help, specifically, people with kidney conditions just to show that they don’t need to be scared.

Obviously, there is support from my siblings and my new parents and their siblings as well. However, I don’t think it will ever be the same. I feel guilty because I feel like all this has happened because of me.” She said.

On her parents conviction, Sonia said she disagrees with it conviction even though she understands it.

Her words,

“I understand the conviction. Personally, I disagree with it. However, that is from a very biased perspective as their daughter. I will obviously always back my parents. However, the law has taken its course and we have to move forward as a family.”

Gifty Mawuenya was one of the graduates of the Ghana School of Law who were called to the bar on Friday, May 5, after successfully completing their law studies.

In a heartwarming post on his Instagram page, John Dumelo shared a family portrait and expressed how proud he is of his wife’s accomplishment.

Big Brother Naija star, Maria has disclosed that she prayed and asked for forgiveness after she mistakenly called out revered clergyman Apostle Selman months ago.

Recall that earlier in the year, the reality TV star turned show host mistook Apostle Joshua Selman for an “apostle” she was accused of having an affair with.

Reacting to the accusation, Maria took to the comment section of a tweet shared by a parody account of Apostle Selman to politely ask if he was the one she was alleged to have slept with.

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Candy Bleakz, has revealed that she absconded from home at 16 to pursue her musical career.

The “Wale” crooner, who made this revelation in a recent interview with Wazobia FM, Lagos, said she hasn’t set her eyes on her family members since then.

According to the 23-year-old, when she left home at 16, she vowed not to return until she achieves success in the music industry.

She, however, noted that she has been communicating with them through the telephone.

“I left home when I was 16. And when I was leaving home, I said to myself, I’m not returning to this house until I achieve my aims. Since then, I haven’t gone home, but I communicate with my family [via telephone], and I do send them money.

“But mum, she keeps calling always that she is no longer getting young. Even my siblings who were one and four years old when I left home are now 10 and 16 years old. So, my mum has been pleading with me to come home and bond with my younger ones.

“But for me, the game is tough. To go home, I still need to go with money. I just feel like this is the same situation with most people in Lagos,” she said.
