A Nigerian police officer has been showered with praise on social media for her recent act of service to students passing her route.

The policewoman, who controls traffic at Sabo bus-stop in Lagos state, bought packs of socks and gave them out to students who didn’t have one on Thursday morning, May 4.

Recall that the woman went viral few months ago for stopping students who were not properly dressed and helping them adjust their uniforms.

In a new video shared on social media, the officer was captured distributing pairs of socks to students heading to school this morning.

She stopped those not wearing socks and gave them a pair to wear in her presence.

Popular Nigerian musician, Chidinmma Ekile has shared the reason behind her decision to stop singing secular music.

Chidinmma, who quit secular music to return to her roots, gospel, in 2021, made this known in a video on her YouTube page on Wednesday, April 3.

A video interview of a 21-year-old businesswoman who claims to have acquired a Mercedes Benz SUV worth N36 million with her Okrika business is currently trending on Facebook.

[Okrika is basically the sale of second-hand clothing in Nigeria. People buy clothes in bulk from America or Europe, and then sell them at a cheaper rate in local or online markets.]

The young lady, identified simply as Amaka, was interviewed by content creator MC Mbakara after seeing the luxurious car she was driving.

When asked how she was able to afford the car, she said she runs an Okrika business that rakes in millions of naira monthly and attributed the high turnover to using the right business strategy.

She explained that she majorly sells her wares on social media, and so far, she has been able to acquire a car worth N36 Million and also pay N9 million rent for her apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos, among other achievements.

Amaka maintained that she funds her lifestyle with her hard-earned money, and that she is not being bankrolled by a man.

The video has since gone viral on Facebook and sparked thousands of reactions from netizens, with many expressing doubt about her source of income.

Popular Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-oke has revealed that her daughter was almost poisoned to death by her ‘roommate or friend’.

Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, the thespian narrated how her daughter was hospitalized after someone poured hypo bleach in her drinking water.

She said she received a distressing call around 3:45am three weeks ago that her daughter, Jumoke, had drank Hypo.

According to the mother of three, she was surprised by the news and quickly went to the school’s hospital, where she met her daughter writhing in pain and discomfort.

It was later discovered that someone deliberately laced her daughter’s water bottle with Hypo, with the intention to kill her.

Ronke said her daughter woke up in the middle of the night to drink water after which she started feeling excruciating pain. She said her daughter was taken to three different hospitals before she got better.

The thespian, who said she doesn’t want to reveal the name of the private university, warned the school and its authorities to do better.

She emphasized that she has only three children and doesn’t want anything of such to happen to her first child again.

She also warned other students of the school with bad intentions to stay away from her daughter.

A 35-year-old suspected ritualist, Ifasoji Ayangbesan, has confessed to buying two human legs for N20,000.

Ifasoji was arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly killing and dismembering a young lady, identified as Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The Ogun State Police Command released a statement last week announcing Ayangbesan’s arrest and accusing him of offering a N1 million bribe to police officers in exchange for his release.

While being paraded before newsmen on Wednesday, May 3, Ayangbesan denied participating in the victim’s killing, which reportedly took place on January 28, 2023.

Ifasoji, who claimed to be a herbalist and not a ritualist, said he bought two fresh human legs but was not involved in the murder of the victim.

“I bought two fresh human legs, but I was not involved in the murder of the victim. I was approached by my friend, Lukman, who told me he had a pair of legs to sell. Though I told him I did not need them, he convinced me to use them for ritual to better my life, and I agreed.

I, however, told him I did not know how to make money rituals as I was not taught that as a traditionalist. He then referred me to his friend from Oye, popularly known as Egbeji in Isiwo.

After I was taught how to go about it, I burnt the legs and kept them in my house with plans to complete the ritual when I returned from Ajah because I had a job to do there.

However, my daughter called me while I was at Ajah that the police had come to the house looking for me. So, I later sneaked in and took away the burnt legs so that I would not be caught with any evidence because I heard that Lukman had been arrested and he had mentioned my involvement in the case.

On the allegation of bribing police, Ayangbesan said that a lawyer had instructed him to provide N10 million to secure his release, but he was only able to gather N1 million.

“I did not offer the police any bribe. When I heard that the police were on the lookout for me, a lawyer told me to get N10 million to set myself free, but I told him I could not raise the money. However, I was able to raise N1 million.

Unfortunately for me, the lawyer claimed that I had informed someone about him asking me for money. He then instructed me to place the money in front of him and he took a picture, and then I was arrested. I never offered police money.” He said.

IMSU lecturer suspended indefinitely for slapping student

The administration of the Imo State University, Owerri, has suspended Dr. Desmond Izunwanne, one of its lecturers indefinitely for reportedly hitting female students who showed up late and wearing non-departmental attire.

Recall that a video surfaced online showing the moment he slapped the student for wearing a mufti to class, despite her explanation that she had just returned from the hospital.

In a statement, Ralph Njokuobi, a spokesman for the university, called the lecturer’s behavior “barbaric and unbecoming.”

According to Njokuobi, a three-person disciplinary committee was established to “unravel the immediate and remote causes that led to his uncouth behavior.”

The statement reads;

“It has come to the notice of the Management of the Imo State University that the viral video circulating around the globe about the indecorous actions of a lecturer of the university, Dr Desmond lzunwanne of the Physiology Department, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the Imo State University, Owerri, against four students of the university.

Management viewed the action of the lecturer as barbaric and unbecoming of such a person occupying that position. At the end of the management meeting held on Tuesday 2 May 2023, management approved the suspension of the lecturer, Dr Desmond lzunwanne, till further notice and has set up a three-man disciplinary committee to unravel the immediate and remote causes that led to his uncouth behaviour.

The university implored the general public and indeed all Human Rights Organisations to allow it conduct a proper investigation and recommend appropriate sanctions where necessary in line with the staff conditions of service.

Management will not accept any breach in the academic and moral standards expected of any lecturer irrespective of how highly he is placed in the university and sincerely believe in rules of engagement between lecturers and students. The University is on top of the game as it affects the matter under review. Thanks for your understanding and patience.”

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter turned music minister, Chidinma Ekile, has revealed that she was born blind.

Chidinma, who quit secular music to become a gospel artist in 2021, made this revelation in a video on her YouTube page.

She said her condition was a big challenge for her parents, especially after everything they tried medically to get her to gain her sight proved abortive.

“I was born blind actually, I didn’t open my eyes at all, and that became a challenge. My parents tried all that they could to get me to see,” she said.

According to Chidinma, her parents eventually turned to God after medical efforts proved abortive, and miraculously, she gained her sight.

She said after gaining her sight, her mum made a deal with God without her knowledge and dedicated her to Him.

“I was born blind actually, I didn’t open my eyes at all, and that became a challenge. My parents tried all that they could to get me to see. Without my knowledge, my mum made a deal with God,” she said.

A while ago, Chidinma Ekile disclosed that her decision to be born-again was ordained by God.

When asked what led her into doing gospel music, the “kedike crooner” said that her conversion is ordained by God.

“Well, it has been ordained. It was actually a prophecy, so I was going to get here anyway. Though there was a time I wasn’t sure eventually I knew I was going to get there and what’s the better time than now?”

Popular Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle, has taken to social media to share a video of herself on the set of a new movie as she marks her 56th birthday.

An Egyptian woman, identified simply as Hanaa, has been arrested for hacking her 5-year-old son, Youssef, to death with a machete and then cooking and eating part of his head.

The 29-year-old was apprehended by the police after the boy’s horrified uncle found body parts in buckets at their home in Abu Shalabi, Egypt.

According to local Egyptian media, Hanaa confessed to the police that she ate part of her son’s head because she “wanted him to stay with her forever”.

She reportedly killed the boy with four blows to the head before butchering his body in the bathroom. Then, she allegedly cooked his head and other parts of his flesh in boiling water before eating them.

Following her arrest, she claimed to be suffering from a mental illness and did not mean to kill her son.

Hanaa and her son were said to have been living together after her divorce from her husband, who insists that she murdered their son on purpose.

The ex-husband, while speaking to a local news outlet, said, “When I arrived, the police prevented me from seeing my son because of the horrific scene.”

He explained: “We separated from each other four years ago because she had land from her father and asked me to leave the house and my family and go with her to live on the land.

“But I refused, and the relationship ended entirely by her will, and I tried to reconcile with her after the divorce, but she refused and stuck to her opinion.”

“My son was the one who kept me connected to her, and I used to see him regularly and bring him clothes and things he needed.

“But recently, she was trying to keep him away from me and plant hatred towards me in his heart, so he wouldn’t come to me.

“I was trying to communicate with her family to see my son and make sure he was okay.”

His lawyer, Samir Mohamed Saleh, said the suspect was emotionless when she told her interrogators that she wanted to ‘free herself and her son’

“I wanted to take revenge against his father and be free. His father keeps coming and trying to take him away all the time”, she was quoted as saying.

In the mean time, the suspect has been taken into custody and would undergo a mental health assessment to determine her mental status.

Destiny Enenche, the daughter of popular clergyman Paul Enenche, has taken to social media to address her critics.

Maria Precious Tunde, a final-year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has died in her sleep.

According to reports, Maria had gone to bed on the night of her passing feeling perfectly fine. However, when her cotenants attempted to wake her the following morning, she did not respond.

After all efforts to resuscitate her proved abortive, co-tenants invited her parents to the scene.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the sad incident occurred on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the deceased off-campus hostel, located at Ekosodin Village, a student town near the school.

Until her death, Maria was a final-year student in the Faculty of Education at the Ugbowo campus of the institution.

In other news, a Nigerian man has reportedly died of shock after discovering that his wife, whom he sponsored abroad for a better life, has gotten pregnant by another man.

According to a Twitter user, @BolanleCole, who shared the story on the microblogging platform, the man had struggled to send his wife and two kids to the United Kingdom so they could have a better life while he remained in Nigeria.
