Nollywood actress, Ruby Ojiakor has averred that only actresses desperate for fame sleep with movie producers in exchange for a movie role.

The mother of one stated this in a recent interview while speaking on the rampant cases of sexual harassment and sex-for-roles in the movie industry.

According to her, only those who want to be famous by any means allow themselves to be used by randy producers to satisfy their sexual desires.

She said: “It is good when an actress is talented and knows what she is doing. Many of the girls that prefer to sleep with filmmakers are not that good at what they do. They are just desperate, want to become overnight stars. If one is not desperate and one keeps praying to God, one will get movie roles, even if one does not sleep with filmmakers. The filmmakers will not have any option in such a case because the person is good. It is important for actresses to always work on themselves. Once they do so, they will always get jobs. I still get calls despite turning down sexual advances from producers.”

Speaking further, Ruby recounted her ugly encounter with a movie producer who wanted to sleep with her for a role.

“I remember when I was called for a job in Enugu and we shot it for two days. I was supposed to be the female lead character in the movie. The marketer that owned the job wanted to ‘get down’ with me. But, I told him I could not do such a thing. I thought that since I had started shooting some scenes in the movie, nothing could be done to me and he cannot cancel my scenes, which I shot with Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel, then.

I also felt Majid would not want to re-act the scenes he had done before. Those factors made me think that the producer’s decision to change me would be fruitless. But to my surprise, I was not called to continue my scenes. When I challenged the production manager, he said I should not be angry because someone else had been called to play the role. I was not given any reason for being removed from that project.

I asked if Majid agreed to re-shoot those scenes, and I was told he was paid extra money to do so. That was how I lost a movie role because I refused to sleep with the owner of the movie. The scenes I had already shot were wiped out from that movie. That was a painful experience, but I have moved on.”

On how to curb sex-for-role which has eaten deep into the film industry, the Enugu-born actress stated that she does not believe it can be eradicated and that it is up to actresses to maintain high standards and refuse to sleep with film makers.

“I don’t think anything can be done to stop sexual advances from filmmakers. Some people have tried to report them, but it has not yielded any positive result. When an actress reports an offender, she is practically setting herself up for a fall. The offenders know themselves, and if one person reports any of them, they would gang up against that actress in the industry, and she would not be getting movie roles.

It is just like a cartel. The best thing is to train oneself and be firm that even if others are doing it, one will not do it. That was what I did,” Ruby Ojiakor asserted.

Comedian, Basketmouth fires back at colleague, AY for shading him during his show

Comedian Basketmouth has seemingly clapped back at his colleague, AY, after the latter shaded him during his show.

AY, who recently opened up about his over 17-year beef with Basketmouth in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, threw a jab at Basketmouth at his AY LIVE show a few days ago.

While performing at the show, which was held on Easter Sunday, AY made reference to the N30,000 saga, which he claimed was the genesis of their squabble, using singer Portable’s trending sound, “I am a baboon, I live in the zoo”.

“30K.. Basket “O feku, O feku,” he sang in Yoruba, which means, “Basket, do you want to die?” “You want to die.”ICYMI, watch video here.

In what seems to be a response to AY’s criticism, Basketmouth jokingly asked his Instagram followers if a “beast” could consume chin chin while posting a video of himself eating it on a plane.

“Beast wey dey chop Chinchin…that wan na Beast?” He captioned the video.

The revelation comes after a Twitter user asked other users to describe a painful moment in their lives.

A 39-year-old Cameroonian teacher, Kwoyela Derick, has finally married his lover, Kahboh Patience, after years of being rejected by women because of his height.

Former Big Brother Naija “Pepper Dem” housemate, Ella, has called out her colleagues, Mercy Eke and Venita.

Ella, who was a housemate on the fourth season of the reality TV show, in an Instagram live session on Tuesday night, April 11, finally addressed the drama between herself, Mercy, and Venita during the reunion show in 2020.

Recall that on the reunion show three years ago, Venita, while making reference to how Ella pulled a stunt on them regarding her mother’s health, described Ella as “a deceitful liar and beggar with bipolar disorder.”

Mercy Eke, on her part, asked Bella what she does with her resources and if she does drugs.

“What do you do with your resources, do you do drugs?” Mercy Eke asked, to which Ella replied; “I use my resources to take care of my mum”.

Three years have passed since the event, but last night during an Instagram Live session, Ella lost it and called Mercy and Venita out for the cruel comments they made to her during the reunion.

Big Brother Naija star, Bella Okague has unfollowed her colleague and friend, Phyna, on Instagram.

It all started after Phyna took to her Twitter page to address those sending her loved-up photos of Bella and her love interest, Sheggz, to mock her single status.

She issued a stern warning to the trolls while reiterating that she’s a “one-man squad” and doesn’t need a man “to do her.”

Her words,

Comedian, Bovi reacts to old photo of Basketmouth and AY together

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bovi, has reacted to an old photo of his colleagues, Basketmouth and AY, together.

You will recall that amid the ongoing feud between Basketmouth and AY, netizens dug out an old photo of the two together after Basketmouth claimed in a chat with media personality Nedu on his “Honest Bunch” podcast that he and his colleague AY were never friends and had never taken a photo together.

Basketmouth denied ever being friends with AY while reacting to the latter’s claim that he was humiliated at his wedding.

AY, during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, narrated how he attended Basketmouth’s wedding but was denied entry.

According to him, while his wife’s name was on the guest list, his wasn’t, so they had to go back home without attending the wedding.

However, Basketmouth, while sharing his own side of the story on Nedu’s Honest Bunch podcast, said AY or his wife, Mabel, were not invited to his wedding.

He said he couldn’t have invited the whole industry to his wedding, so there was a guest list that contained only the names of his friends.

He said since he didn’t consider AY a friend, he didn’t invite him or his wife. He further asserted that he had never taken a photo with Ay.

However, shortly after Basketmouth’s interview with Nedu went viral, netizens dug out old photos of him and AY together.

Reacting to the photo, Bovi revealed the photo was taken in 2004 and joked about AY being a ‘fan’ of Basketmouth.

“This is Basketmouth and a fan 2004! AY no vex o! Before you call Chude for me”, he wrote.

Popular Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, has jokingly threatened to sue his senior colleague, Chioma Akpotha, over a birthday post she made for him.

Chioma had posted a sweet message on her Instagram page to celebrate Alex, who turned 37 on Monday, April 10, but she also included an embarrassing video of the actor that she filmed at a party they attended together.

In the clip, the talented actor appeared to be in tears because of the Snapchat filter she used to capture his face. She then blamed Omoni Oboli for allegedly making her film the video.

A Nigerian businesswoman, Kate Bassey, has taken to social media to reveal that single men are allegedly suffering house renting discrimination in Abuja.

Former National Youth Leader aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Sulaimon Olamide has apologized to Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo for attacking her during the general elections.

Recall that the aspiring politician threatened and insulted Iyabo for supporting Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The mother of two was accused by Sulaimon of abandoning her people by backing an opposing cause. He also said that she sleeps with wealthy guys for money.

Nigerian entertainment journalist, Joey Akan has taken to Twitter to express his displeasure with the streaming manipulation that has been a cause of worry for the music industry.

In a series of tweets, Joey stated that musicians’ fascination with boasting about their songs’ top positions on the music charts was the reason stream farming became so popular in the business.

According to him, stream farming is immoral and artists that engage in it are doing it to deceive their followers, clients, and even other artists.

Akan also claimed that a musician had employed a stream farmer to work on his tune, boosting the number of streams by using robots or numerous phones.

He said that once Apple learned of the violation, they removed the music and the artist phoned the police to report the farmer he had hired to work on his song.

He wrote;

“Stream farming in Nigeria gained prominence with our collective obsession with taking screenshots of “number 1 song in the country.”
Especially when we all know that Apple Music top 100 isn’t reflective of listener habits. As the chart gain prominence, we decided to hack it.
I know showbiz is rooted in invention and everyone creates a facade for sale. But stream farming isn’t just synthetic social ops. It’s a moral crime against the perpetrator, and other artists looking to advance. You deceive fans, business partners and even your colleagues.
For many, stream farming is more marketing tool, than an end in itself. If I drop a song, I can engineer people to care by pushing it to Top 10 on the charts. When people see a top 10 record, FOMO creeps in and they stream. If they like the song, you have a hit. So for many stream farming is just another way to put the music in front of everyone.
The more people go to these charts to listen to songs, there is a higher chance that they would mindlessly stream through the top 10. If your song is any good, people then love it.
I remember last year when someone dropped a wack jam, and no one cared. He hired a stream farmer to work on it and send bots to jack it up the charts. And initially, they were successful.
And then Apple noticed, pulled it down. Artist carried police and arrested the farmer.
Artist: “You promised to market my song, why has Apple Music removed my song. Please put back my song.
Farmer: “I no know. I did my normal marketing thing.”

AY, who recently opened up about his year-long beef with Basketmouth while performing during his AY Live Easter Sunday Show, took a swipe at Basketmouth.

Using singer Portable’s trending sound, “I am a baboon, I live in the zoo,” AY made reference to the N30,000 incident, which he claimed was the genesis of their squabble.

Meanwhile, Netizens have dug out an old photo of popular Nigerian comedians, AY and Basketmouth, and they appeared quite cordial in the photo.

This comes after Basketmouth claimed in a recent chat with media personality Nedu on his Honest Bunch podcast that he and his colleague AY, were never friends and have never taken a photo together.

You will recall that AY claimed in an interview that his beef with Basketmouth only started seventeen years ago over an unpaid N30,000 debt.

According to AY, he and Baskethmouth were so cordial before the N30,OOO saga in 2006 that Baskethmouth even invited him to shows to stand in for him.

Basketmouth, speaking on Nedu’s podcast, debunked AY’s claims as false while vehemently stating that they were never friends.

“Ay is not my friend; I didn’t invite him nor his wife to my wedding; they just came themselves. I only invited my friends”, he said in part.

Well, netizens have now dug up an old photo of the two all smiles at an event. While some social media users opined that the photo is enough proof that they were friends at some point, others noted that taking a picture together doesn’t necessarily mean they were friends. See photo here.

Prince Aondona Isaka, a Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Local Government Administration, has advised men to try polygamy as a solution to their marital woes.

Isaka gave this advice in a post he shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

He urged men to marry a second wife if their current wife is giving them trouble instead of resorting to violence.

The former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, has revealed that former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi removed her from the position because she did not give him a birthday gift.

Usman, in her new book “Stepping on Toes: My Odyssey at the Nigerian Ports Authority,” revealed that many prominent Nigerians met with Amaechi to plead with him to resolve the issue between them shortly after she was asked to “step aside” in May 2021, but he refused.

She claimed that governors, the head of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, and others approached the former minister to secure her reinstatement, but he vehemently refused, citing frivolous excuses of selfishness and her failure to do “nothing for him.”

Hadiza wrote in the book.

“I know for instance that Governors elected on the platform of the APC, the Progressive Governors Forum, chaired by Governor Atiku Bagudu deliberated on the issue of my suspension and constituted a committee to intervene. The Governors’ team met with the Minister to discuss a resolution of the matter. He insisted that my management of the NPA had to be investigated due to the amount unremitted to the CRF [Consolidated Revenue Fund].

He even tried to sway the governors’ resolve by suggesting that the budget of the NPA was bigger than most of their state budgets so they shouldn’t bother about me. When the governors persisted, he told them that the matter was no longer just within his purview and that they may need to approach the Head of Service of the Federation.

He told another person who tried to intervene that I was so selfish that did nothing for the NPA and never even gave him a birthday present! The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd.) also made efforts to resolve the issue by intervening at various levels.”

Jake, on the other hand, took to Instagram to share the news, along with two photos of them with the simple caption “forever.”

The couple have been an item for two-and-a-half years.

Juliana, also known as Toyosi or Toyo Baby for her role in ‘Jenifa’s Diary,’ sparked wedding rumors after she was spotted wearing a wedding ring at Mo Bimpe’s birthday party.

Mo Bimpe had taken to her Instagram page to share beautiful photos of herself and her husband at her pink-themed party, and thanked him for making her birthday special.

However, some eagle-eyed netizens noticed Juliana Olayode wearing what appears to be a wedding ring in the photos.

Netizens have dug out an old photo of popular Nigerian comedians, AY and Basketmouth, and they appeared quite cordial in the photo.

This comes after Basketmouth claimed in a recent chat with media personality Nedu on his Honest Bunch podcast that he and his colleague AY, were never friends and have never taken a photo together.

You will recall that AY claimed in an interview that his beef with Basketmouth only started seventeen years ago over an unpaid N30,000 debt.

According to AY, he and Baskethmouth were so cordial before the N30,OOO saga in 2006 that Baskethmouth even invited him to shows to stand in for him.

Basketmouth, speaking on Nedu’s podcast, debunked AY’s claims as false while vehemently stating that they were never friends.

“Ay is not my friend; I didn’t invite him nor his wife to my wedding; they just came themselves. I only invited my friends”, he said in part.

Well, netizens have now dug up an old photo of the two all smiles at an event. While some social media users opined that the photo is enough proof that they were friends at some point, others noted that taking a picture together doesn’t necessarily mean they were friends.

Popular Nigerian music producer, Don Jazzy has warmed many hearts after he embarked on a giveaway spree to help his embattled and needy followers on Twitter.

It all started on Monday afternoon when a follower told Don Jazzy that he always thought celebrities only do giveaway to promote their projects.

“I thought doing giveaway is part of marketing an album ? Davido has not done such!!”, he tweeted.

In response, the music executive stated that most celebrities who do giveaways love giving back to the public, not because of a project or album.

He added that people will not listen to a song if it does not sound good, whether the artist doles out money or not.

“Some of us do give aways because we like giving and we want to give. If the masses don’t like your work e no go blow. Giveaway or no give away,” he responded.

Former Big Brother Titans housemate, Yvonne Godswill, has recounted how she was expelled from the university in her third year.

The 28-year-old reality TV star disclosed this in an interview with media personality Hero Daniels on Monday.

According to her, she was expelled from the university in her third year for being involved in a fight and had to retake the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination and apply to a different university in order to start over.

“I was involved in a fight. It was a messy situation. And I was in my third year. Not like it was academic issue so you can imagine that kind of clumsy stupid thing that will get you kicked out of school.

“My mom was so mad at me. She was just like ‘You’ve joined a bad gang.’ It was crazy! I did deliverance because she thought something was wrong with me.

“Just my dad understood. You know lion no dey born goat. He was like ‘What’s your plan?’ I was like ‘I want to go back to school’. He was like ‘okay’. I had to write JAMB because I was rusticated. So, I had to like start all over again, I was in my third year.

“By the time I got into year one, my mates at my former school had graduated. I was sad. I was depressed. I was so bad that the next school I got to I couldn’t really bond with people because I felt like I was the mama of the class. I’m like three to four years older than the people in my class so it wasn’t easy to really bond.” She said.

Update: Police arrests one over death of popular Ibadan vendor

Men of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested one person in connection with the death of popular Ibadan-based Instagram cloth vendor, Adeshina Olayinka, aka Khadi.

Khadi died in controversial circumstances in a hotel in Akobo, in Ibadan, the state capital, last Thursday, April 6.

It was gathered that she was discovered dead on Thursday after staying with a mystery guest who checked out early after it was established that she was still alive. Read here.

The prime suspect in the case was immediately alerted, and he voluntarily presented himself to the Akobo Police Division, having heard that the police needed his attention over Khadi’s death.

“We called the suspect to inform him about the incident. He rushed down to the hotel to present himself to the police. He has been arrested and the case has been transferred to the SCID. He is one of our customers here.” Punch quoted a source at the hotel as saying.

Meanwhile, following commotion over the death of the vendor on social media, a statement was published by the hotel announcing the devastating loss and affirming a police investigation.

The statement read,

“To the General Public and our Dear Valued Guests. We regret to inform you that an unfortunate incident occurred at our hotel, Wetland Hotel. One of our guests passed away while staying with us.

We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death.

Please rest assured that the safety and well-being of our guests and staff are our top priority. We have taken all necessary measures to ensure that our facilities and services continue to meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

A Nigerian lady has called off her wedding to her eight-year boyfriend after he used money meant for the preparations to gamble and lost it all.

The devastated lady, simply identified as Linda, recounted the incident on an online relationship platform, stating that she was excited at finally settling down with her lover after eight years, but his addiction to gambling ruined it all.

According to the lady, she knew about his gambling habits but thought he would change; however, she learned the hard way when he didn’t even spare funds meant for their wedding preparation and sadly lost it all.

“Gambling and betting actually ended my relationship of 8 years, when we were about getting married. I am a lady, I was thinking he would change, he plays the betting they call virtual “baby”, the money meant for the wedding preparation he wasted it in that game, I had to cancel the wedding.” She narrated.

Meanwhile, Big Brother Naija star and influencer, Tochi, has advised men against dating women who cannot support them financially.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate gave this advice recently in a post via his Instagram stories.

Massive congratulations are in order for popular actress, Abiola Adebayo, as she welcomes her first child with her husband via surrogacy.

The excited mother took to her Instagram page to announce the good news to her over 1.5 million followers, as she chronicled her fertility struggle.

She said she had one failed IVF before opting for surrogacy, which failed three times in two years before they finally welcomed a son.

The actress, who married her second husband in 2021, shared photos of herself and her husband cradling their newborn’s leg on social media, and wrote,

Three failed surrogate attempts in two years, God has finally blessed my husband and I with a great son through our surrogate mom.
