Nollywood comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, was attacked by robbers at his residence in the wee hours of Monday, August 8.
It was gathered the robbers broke into the actor’s home in Abeokuta, Ogun state, around 2am after disarming and tying down his security guards.
The actor’s friend, Kayode Soaga, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said,
“The Robbers broke into his Home at about 2:00 am. Heavily Armed with Pump action Guns, Matchetes, Breaking in Tools. His security Guards were tied down and demobilized.
“Three other houses on the street were robbed with more devastating effect. They broke the burglary proof and went straight to him demanding #20 million or his life. Threatening to kill and destroy.
“He begged and pleaded. They later came down to #3 million naira which he said he doesn’t have. They dazed him with a resounding slap etc. The armed robbers packed all android phones, iPhones, laptops, and all available cash in the home. Also collected all ATM cards. The robbers came with POS to empty money in accounts.
Saka’s security guards were demobilized while the guards of his neighbours were not too lucky as they were shot several times in the arms. We thank almighty GOD for Saka’s Life as he’s doing fine”.
The actor is said to be doing fine with his family after the horrific incident.
Fans of Big Brother Naija disqualified housemate, Beauty Tukura, have refused to concede defeat and are making efforts to get their favorite housemate back on the show.
Recall that the 43rd Miss Nigeria was disqualified on Sunday following an altercation with her love interest, Groovy.
Beauty, who spent only 15 days in the house, was disqualified for flouting house rules.

The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) has reacted to the trending video of its members mocking the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Over the weekend, a video surfaced online showing members of the Confraternity holding a procession in which they were gyrating to a song that says;
“Hand dey shake, leg dey shake, Baba wey no well, e de shout emi lo kan (Hands are shaking, legs are shaking. A sick old man is shouting ‘it’s my turn’).

The video was said to be an attack on Tinubu and the confraternity was accused of making fun of the presidential candidate because the slang ’emi lo kan’ became popular after he said it during a speech in June, where he said he wants to succeed President Buhari because it’s his turn.
Professor Wole Soyinka, who is one of the founding members of the confraternity, also condemned the video and said the lyrics is ‘distasteful and frankly appalling’.
Well, the NAS Capoon, Abiola Owoaje, has now released a statement titled “Setting the Records Straight”to address the controversial video.
He said the video was filmed during the procession held to round up its 46th Annual General Meeting, and that it was not political but has now been used by some people for political gains.
He noted that the confraternity is apolitical and are not supporting any political candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general election and beyond.
The statement reads in part,
“We must stress that we are apolitical. As an organisation, we have never had a preferred candidate in any political elections including the upcoming 2023 general elections. We have members who belong to different political parties and are absolutely free to support any candidate of their choice.
It is most unfortunate that political capital is being made of this with interpretations that are totally at variance with the philosophy of the Pyrates Confraternity. Unequivocally, we condemn this in very strong terms.
We understand that political merchants desperately seeking media mileage are all over the place misinforming and twisting events to suit their political agenda. However, we wish to re -emphasise that the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) are not supporting or backing any candidate for the office of the President or any other office in the 2023 general elections and beyond.
As an organisation in tune with disadvantaged and voiceless people, we are committed to the enthronement of a just society in which no one is discriminated against based on tribe, religion, gender or disability. We are against conventions that are moribund. We have always stood for Humanistic ideals, comradeship and chivalry. Nothing that has happened can and will change that posture.
We are determined to continue to use our social programmes, intellectual platforms and our compelling songs to advocate for good governance and accountability!”
American professional tennis player, Serena Williams, has announced that she is retiring from tennis.
The 40-year-old announced her retirement in the latest issue of Vogue, published on Tuesday, August 9.
The legendary tennis player who welcomed her first child, Olympia, in 2017, said her decision was influenced by the desire to expand her family and spend more time with her husband, Alexis,
Her retirement is, however, not immediate, as she revealed in her Vogue piece that she is still hopeful she can play at the US Open in New York later this month.

I was part of a group that went to court to stop BBNaija, but the system continues to encourage BBNaija, some of our people in the media, and journalists continue to encourage them because there’s money there.
“Nigeria worships money and then we are destroying our youths, who are watching this show and there are some irresponsible parents, too, who are watching and encouraging their children to watch it. The youth, whether a young man or an old man who goes to participate in BBNaija should be condemned. I will not pick any individual for particular criticism.
“Why will I pronounce a Shariah judgment on them? If it is in Oyo, Lagos or Enugu, they are not Shari’a compliant states. I can not make a Shari’a pronouncement on them. We can not bring Shari’a into BBNaija. I can not make any Shari’a pronouncement in a non-Shari’a issue, in a non-Shari’a state.

A viral video shows the emotional moment a young Nigerian man broke down in tears after his boss’ dog was sold to a customer.
In the video, the man who seemed to have developed a close bond with the dog, couldn’t fight back his tears after seeing the dog being taken away by its new owner, and he turned to a wall to let out his emotions.
Sadly, the new owner found it bizarre that the man was crying over a dog and filmed a video of him crying while laughing and mocking him in the background.
However, the young man’s employer tried to console him and patted him on the back in a bid to encourage him to stop crying.

Popular celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani a.k.a Tiannah Empire, has taken to social media to reveal she recently suffered a miscarriage.
The fashion designer, who welcomed her third child – first with her husband, Segun Wealth, in August 2021, in a post shared on her Instagram page, detailed the health challenges she has faced including fibroid, brain cysts, arthritis and others.
She said shortly after welcoming her daughter, she discovered she was pregnant again but started bleeding.
According to the 40-year-old, she thought the bleeding was normal because she bled throughout her previous pregnancies but sadly, she lost this one and was told that she needs to undergo a surgical procedure for her spine.

At this time I was already attached I said no & went abroad, they managed d situation till I had d baby , Which was why they said I couldn’t heve it naturally like my other kids, Got back on my feet in no time, months after my legs & bones gave way, d pain was too much went back again abroad they said my bones were degenerating due to the pressure.
At this point my legs were swollen, I couldn’t walk, this was few days to my 40th birthday party in Nigeria, I had so much plans for my 40th but I said nothing & opted for prayer for my late mom.

It’s only the third week in Big Brother’s house, and the season 7 housemates have undoubtedly been serving up drama from all sides.
Only days after a housemate was disqualified for violence, another pair, Bryann and Ilebaye, got into a heated argument on Monday.
Ilebaye and Bryann, who have gotten along well since the start of the season, got into a fight on Monday night over rumours going around the house that they are dating.
During the heated argument, Ilebaye issued a stern warning to Bryann to stay away from her and stop peddling rumours that they are in a relationship.
Ilebaye noted that she does not need a relationship or friendship with him and whatever they have had so far is pure cruise.
“I don’t even like you, please don’t ever tell anybody we are dating. Nobody should involve me in any shop with him. Stay away from me I don’t want anything to do with you. Relationship or friendship is not by force in this life.” She said.
A furious Bryann in response hurled insults at her and asked her to go and catch cruise with her father instead.
“Go and catch cruise with your father”, he said in part.
Two women who died briefly have revealed what the ‘afterlife’ is really like, and one of them said the experience was so nice that she wants to go back.
The women, Jessie Sawyer and Betty Eadie, shared their stories on America’s Inside Edition TV programme.
Bettie, who is now 78, said she died after undergoing a hysterectomy operation and met Jesus Christ, angels and “three ancient men”.
“I was in the recovery room and suddenly felt every drop of blood had drained from my body and then this sensation of my spirit coming out of body at tremendous speed. I looked down and saw my body lying on the bed.
“I knew I had died and thought, ‘oh my God, I’m dead’.”
She said she saw three “really ancient men” who told her she had died. She then told them she wanted to see her family for the last time, and “flew” out the window and went to her house.
“My husband was sitting in the armchair and I stood next to him, I was concerned because he didn’t know I had died, nor had my children, and I was worried for all of them.
“But then I was given a glimpse into their futures and saw they’d all lead good lives,”She added.
After receiving this assurance, she returned back to her hospital bed and went into a tunnel and into a black space where she felt ‘extremely relaxed and comfortable’.
At the end of the tunnel, she said she was met by a figure whom she said was Jesus Christ.
“He hugged me and said, it’s not yet your time.” She said the experience was so profound that she wants to go back to the afterlife.
The second woman, Jessie, a mother of two, speaking on her own afterlife experience, said she died at 31 after being rushed to the hospital with internal bleeding after a gynaecological procedure.
She said the experience has eliminated her fear of death and she is totally fine with dying now.
She said;
“I have no fear of dying now, I could die right now and I’d be perfectly OK with it.
“If you’d have told me 10 years ago I would have a near-death experience I wouldn’t have believed you, I don’t even believe in God.”
Describing what her death was like, Jessie said:
“In the distance I could see a figure and I recognized it as one of my best friends who had died two years before.
“I also saw a bright light and that’s when I realised this is death, this is my death.”
She also saw how her death would affect her husband and two children.
“I was shown how my death would impact my family – that my two children, although grief-stricken, would grow up and have good lives.”
According to her, it all happened quickly and before long, she saw herself fall back into her body which “hurt”.
She said she told the doctors what she saw on the other side, and they told her she probably died briefly.
“They said I was walking the line between life and death for a while,” she said.
A viral video has captured the moment a young man who reportedly placed a bet with his boss’s money broke down in tears after losing all the money.

Speaking in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the father of one recounted how they were struggling to have a child at the same time he was vying for a political position in 2019, and lost twin children in the process.
According to him, his wife’s body went through so much pain and trauma at the time and he fell into depression.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate had shared a lovely video of herself on her social media page but the troll left a comment mocking her over her failed relationship with her former housemate and love interest, Emmanuel.
Deyemi who also left a comment praising Liquorose spotted the unflattering comment and came hard on the troll.

A Nigerian man has counseled married women against leaving their marriages on grounds of infidelity by their husbands.
The young man identified as John Doe, in a series of Twitter threads, urged married women to never be too quick to divorce their husbands because they cheated.
According to him, divorce is not an option except that the woman is no longer interested in being married.
He maintained that while it’s easier for the cheating husband to move on after a divorce and even get a better spouse, it would be difficult, and most times impossible, for the woman to move on.
His words,
“For married women and especially in Africa, never be too quick to leave your marriage because your husband cheated on you. Except you’re done with marriage for good & don’t wish to be married again. I say this because you don’t even have a better option like the men you plan to leave.
“That man you leave can even find a virgin lady to remarry, you can’t. Except you want to stay celibate for the rest of your life, you’re likely going to be sleeping with another man that is cheating on his own woman with you. It’s like from frying pan to fire.
“Imagine once being a revered wife to a side woman that another man will be cheating with? I said revered wife because in truth, you know that your cheating husband will never wish for you to leave him because he cheated. Cheating is bad but you need to weigh your options.”
“Do all that for you & love your children regardless? Your husband can find another woman who will be faithful to him, but can you? You’re better off cheating back in the marriage rather than divorcing him. But if you get caught, I’m sorry for you.”
Big Brother Naija season 7 housemate, Phyna, was filled with emotions on Monday night, August 8, after she was nominated for possible eviction for the second time in a row.
The 25-year-old, who was up for possible eviction last week but luckily got saved, was nominated again by the new Head of House, Adekunle, during the Monday live nomination show.
Phyna and four other housemates—Bryan, Khalid, Groovy, and Ilebaye are up for possible eviction.

In other news, first Vice President of the Nigeria Bar Association, John Aikpokpo-Martins, has dismissed claims that disqualified BBNaija S7 housemate, Beauty Turkura, is a lawyer.
According to him, the former beauty queen’s name did not come up in the Roll of Legal Practitioners in the Supreme Court and the Nigerian Bar Association.
This comes after Beauty Tukura, a former housemate of the show and an acclaimed lawyer, got disqualified from the reality show for breaching the rules of engagement on the show.
His full statement reads:
“RE: BEAUTY TAKURA, LAWYER AND FORMER MISS NIGERIA DISQUALIFIED FROM BBNAIJA SEASON 7.
“My attention and I guess of a large number of lawyers in Nigeria have been drawn to news reports that one Beauty Tukura, who is claimed and/or claims to be a lawyer participated and also got ignominiously disqualified from the on-going Big Brother Naija reality show “for throwing her wig and glasses at” a co-participant in the show after a party.
“These reports have been very embarrassing to most members of the legal profession and may in all reasonable probability bring the profession into disrepute if found to be true. A quick check of the databases of the Roll of Legal Practitioners kept in the Supreme Court and the Nigerian Bar Association failed to reveal the name “Beauty Tukura” to be on the Supreme Court Roll or to be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
“However, I hereby appeal to anyone who may be aware of her true name assuming we may have gotten her real name wrong to reach out to me.
Europe-based Nigerian actor, Akeem Akintola, has resolved never to return to Nigeria after realizing how much he makes working abroad.
The thespian made this declaration as he took to social media to joyfully flaunt his savings.
In a video he shared online showing off his savings, Akintola said he works two jobs and he was able to save €1700 (over N1million) in one month.
A delighted Akintola laid out the money on a table in different denominations, and declared never to return to his fatherland.
”After working 2 jobs I save €1700 a month. I swear I no fit go Nigeria again,” he captioned the video.

Internet fraud is basically a common crime being perpetrated by young Nigerian folks who defraud people, especially foreigners, on the internet.
Speaking on this dubious means of making money, Sammy said it’s nothing compared to politicians who loot millions of government funds for personal gains.

Big Brother Naija season 2 winner, Michael Ejeba, popularly known as Efe, has narrowly escaped an ambush attack by some hoodlums.
The singer took to his social media page to narrate his ordeal while sharing a video of his car which was badly damaged by his assailants.

A while ago, Efe for the first time reacted to rumours that he squandered his winnings.
The Delta State-born rapper won the second season of the continent’s biggest reality show and walked away with a N25 million grand prize. However, shortly after rumors circulated that Efe had squandered the prize money.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Efe dispelled the reports as false.
According to him, contrary to viral reports, he did not squander the money, but invested it.
He noted that, contrary to speculations, he invested the entire N25 million (twenty-five million naira), although he did not give further details.
“I invested the whole money I did not even buy one shirt with that money”, he said in part.
Actor, Yul Edochie’s teenage daughter, Danielle, has taken to social media to share some of the things she’s scared of.
The 17-year-old who drew criticism online a few days ago after she shared a video of herself with a boy whom she referred to as her best friend, in a now deleted post on her TikTok handle, stated that she’s scared of intimacy.
