A Popular Lagos socialite, Kayode Badru, has reportedly died from a fire incident.
According to CelestialNewsOnline, Kayode, who is based in Dubai, flew into the country to celebrate with 40 students he gave scholarships, who were graduating.
He was said to have visited the Celestial Church of Christ for prayers and asked to kneel down while surrounded by seven elders and several lit candles. “He was holding a candle then the prophet of the church, Felix Alebiosu, sprayed perfume on his body from his head to toe. Iniubong Umoren, the Akwa Ibom job-seeker who was raped and killed when a man lured her on social media with a fake job interview, has emerged as one of the top students in her graduating class.
Ini, 26, who graduated from the Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, graduated with a GPA of 4.12.
This was revealed in the final result released by the University of Uyo.
Idorenyin Esikot, associate professor and acting head, Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, who confirmed the authenticity of the result to Premium Times, said Miss Umoren, with such remarkable performance, would have possibly been employed as a lecturer in the department after her mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
Speaking about Iniobong Umore, Mr Esikot told Premium Times, “She was a very committed and focused student, very hard working. In fact, she was very versatile because apart from her academics, she was a footballer, playing for our female team.
“She was very social and dependable; she wasn’t the kind of student that would play around. Whatever she does, she was very committed,.”
Mr Esikot said Miss Umoren’s tragic end was a personal loss to him. “Anytime I remember it, it’s like a nightmare. Very unfortunate.”
“If she had been alive and wanted to come into the (teaching) profession, she is the kind of student we would encourage to come into the profession. Because that is a student that never failed a course and was always doing well. Actor, Abimbola Olasunbo popularly known as Sir Koro, has issued a public apology after alleging that embattled actor, Baba Ijesha and comedienne, Princess were dating before the rape allegation.

A young lady who was posted to a remote village to work as a teacher for her Ghana national service program, has become known as ‘The Sewing Teacher.’
Janet Asibi aka Ama Val, upon arrival to the village discovered that a lot of pupils in the community school she was deployed to, did not have a uniform or their uniforms were torn and so, she decided to get a sewing machine to solve the problem.
The lady, who was posted to Nsoatre SDA primary school situated at Bono Region, has now sewn for different schools in the community and wants to take the project to the national level when she gets support.
With the help of one sewing machine that she had learned to use, to sew uniforms for the pupils at absolutely no cost.
“This disheartening development of seeing these young ones whom we refer to as future leaders walk to school in torn clothes compelled me to put my skills in sewing to use,” she said in an interview.
She considered finding solutions to this challenge a collective responsibility hence why she took it up with her personal funds and with the support from friends and loved ones.
A school uniform per child currently costs her 50 Ghana Cedis and sometimes less depending on the school. Ama Val carries out the project successfully through partnering with another seamstress whom she pays.
She engages her service in order not to overburden herself as a teacher. It is her dream to expand this project she dubbed “One Student; One School Uniform” to other affected students in other schools in Ghana.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the funeral arrangement for Pastor Dare Adeboye, the late son of it’s General Overseer.
According to a statement signed by Leke Adeboye, the personal assistant of the general overseer and younger brother of Dare, a special service will be held on Sunday, May 9th at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom, where late Pastor Dare pastored.
The statement added that thanksgiving songs and tribute nite will be held on Monday, May 10th, between 4pm and 6pm, at the RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
A farewell service will take place on Tuesday, May 11, at the Youth Centre, RCCG Redemption Camp.
