“Kieran and I used condoms and were extremely careful. Plus, my periods were regular so it was impossible.”

“Mum was shocked and kept saying I looked like I had glowing pregnancy skin. I told her to drop it.

“Soon after, I started to crave bagels and Irn-Bru. I looked at my stomach and it was completely flat. I knew I wasn’t pregnant.

“Mum was still adamant and she bought me two different brands of pregnancy tests again. To keep her quiet, I took them and again, they were negative”.

Speaking further she revealed she had her first signs of pregnancy didn’t come until months later.

“Out of nowhere, I had a horrible pain in my back. I thought it was my uncomfortable chair. Later that night, at home, I kept complaining to my parents that my back was killing.

Siobhan’s back pain worsened and she was rushed to hospital when her waters broke.

“Suddenly, I heard the thumping sound of a heartbeat. I looked at the screen and there was a baby.

“I was in labour. Before I could react, I felt burning between my legs and the nurses told me I was crowning.”

Baby Oscar was successfully delivered and weighed in at 5lb 5oz, despite the surprise pregnancy, he was given a clean bill of health.

“The doctor explained that he’d been lying back to back, which is why I didn’t have a bump. For months, I’d mistaken spotting for light periods…

“I’d been using condoms with my boyfriend, had a flat stomach and had periods every month. I couldn’t believe I’d carried a baby for nine months without knowing. Thankfully, he was a healthy little boy.”

“My Mum quickly called Dad to tell him the news, I messaged Kieran. I said I’d had a baby and he was a dad. He thought I was joking but then it finally sunk in. He was gobsmacked.

“Sadly he was stuck at work, so he couldn’t come straight away. After five days, I took Oscar home and Kieran finally met him.

“After that, both our families rallied around us and got supplies. Kieran really got into being a dad but in time, we eventually broke up. He’s still an amazing father.” She added.

Remi Surutu opens

Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu has finally revealed the reason why she slapped her colleague, Fathia Balogun, at a burial ceremony in Lagos.

 Remi Surutu finally opens

According to reports, the movie stars attended the burial ceremony of Mr Bamidele Omosehin’s late dad. However, trouble started when Remi Surutu walked up to Fathia Balogun’s table at the event and landed an unprovoked slap on her face.

The incident led to a major fight between the actresses and it took the intervention of other guests to separate them and calm their frayed nerves.

 Remi Surutu finally opens

After the event, there were rumours about what led to the “fight”. However, both parties failed to open up about the reason behind the dispute.

In a recent interview with City People, Remi Surutu finally broke the silence and shared the reason behind the confrontation.

In her words,

“My fight with Fathia Williams started when I began hearing all manner of jargons, she was saying about me. I heard she’s been going about running me down in the presence of many of our colleagues and movie producers. She’s messing up big time and somebody needed to put her in a place where she belongs.

“This is the person I took in like a sister. We were very close when she joined the industry. I can say it boldly that I was instrumental to her relationship with Saidi Balogun then. They were both living with me in Magodo. I had to send them out because they always fight, and they almost injured my mum.

“I don’t know why she suddenly grow that hatred for me and started running me down. Till date, I still can not say what I’ve done to deserve that from her. There are so many other things she did that I can’t say here.”

“Faithia is so full of herself, probably because they used to deceive her, by calling her the Queen of all the Actresses, “Pelu awon tani”. I decided to confront her and deal with her at that event, because somebody needed to call her to order. And God saved her that day and thank God for the intervention of other colleagues around. I told her “if you move closer to me, I will break bottle on your head”

“When people started calling us to settle it amicably, I told them I am not ready to settle anything with her, and I don’t feel remorseful for attacking her. I have no regret at all, she’s really messing up and she needed to be put in her place”.

Infinix prompts its community to join the move for equality as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2021.

Infinix women

Conversations around gender bias and inequality have gone on for decades. While some individuals subtly advocate for things to remain the same with men having more privileges than women in the work place and society, a number of open-minded people have decided to campaign for, and create balance.

Infinix women

It’s a given that the role of women in society cannot be undermined. In 2012, the World Bank’s World Development Report proved that there’s a positive connection between gender parity and economic performance as well as growth and productivity. However, it is a sad reality that up until today, several women have been denied the opportunity to give their unique contribution and assume well-deserved positions at work, in politics and in society, all on the basis of gender.

Thanks to the relentless efforts of women and men who believe that we all are first human and that all our contributions are valid in this world, we are drawing closer to an age where there can be true balance.

This year, the International Women’s Day celebration (IWD 2021) is themed #ChooseToChallenge. Using this theme, people from all over the world, irrespective of their age or gender are challenging gender bias and clamouring for equal opportunity for everyone. As a technology company with a vast number of women occupying lead roles in its different operating countries, Infinix has decided to join the conversation and show support for this gainful agenda of striking the balance.

Under the umbrella of the #ChoosetoChallenge campaign, Infinix is prompting the people within its community to celebrate women who have risen up against the norm in society. The brand is also inciting citizens to challenge the norms in their fields of interest and speak up for equality.

Infinix women

To join Infinix’s leg of the campaign, nominate any notable woman that has challenged inequality in anyway. Post a picture of yourself striking the “Choose to Challenge” pose and a picture of the notable person you are nominating. Post the picture with a caption, telling us what your nominee did to challenge inequality against women and what norm you would like to challenge as well.

Use the Hashtag, #IChooseToChallengeWithInfinix and #ChooseToChallenge. Follow Infinix Nigeria and tag them in your post.

Infinix recognizes that with a trickle of effort from one person to another, we can make a huge impact on our society and create that world where there’s balance and everyone is able to get what they truly merit irrespective of their gender. If we must get there, we must talk about it, celebrate it and progressively act towards it.

“There is no freedom that does not have boundaries” – Femi Adesina warns those calling for Buhari’s resignation

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has cautioned people calling for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adesina said those calling for Buhari’s resignation due to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria were only exercising their freedom of speech, but such expression has its limitations.

He stated this while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, on Wednesday night.

“Under a democracy, people have freedom of speech. You have freedom of speech although that freedom also has boundaries.

“There is no freedom that does not have boundaries. The freedom that does not have boundaries will even injure the person who is utilising that freedom.

“So, if anybody says that kind of thing under a democracy, it is allowed but when it is bent on causing chaos, that person may be asked to come and answer certain questions”, he said.
