Woman finds love 7 years after losing husband, marries childhood admirer

A Nigerian widow, has found love again as she walks down the aisle with her childhood admirer.

The woman identified as Sarah has now married her childhood crush, Chijioke, seven years after loosing her first husband.

According to Bellanaija Weddings, who shared the exceptional love story on Instagram, a young Sarah didn’t reciprocate Chijioke’s love, because she loved someone else, who she later got married to.

However as fate would have it, chijoke and Sarah met again in 2019, years after staying single following the demise of her husband.

In January 2020, she got a message from someone who identified himself as Jeffrey, asking if they could date each other, but she abruptly turned down the proposal.

Sarah later discovered that Jeffrey was Chijioke, so she reached out via phone call and apologized for her reaction.

She noted that his peaceful nature got through to her and that led them to become friends and later walked down the aisle.

In her words,

“Chijioke had an eye for me when we were younger but I didn’t as I was in love with someone else. As life would have it, he saw me again in December, 2019- 7 years a widow with a mind made up on remaining single.

“In January 2020, I got a message from someone called
Jeffrey, he started by apologising for the approach and then he went on to say he had tried to answer so many questions ever since he saw me again at Calabar. He wondered/ thought about the possibility of walking into my life ?.

“I was paranoid to start with and gave him a piece of my mind for even thinking about the possibility of a relationship with me and then I asked if he didn’t see the rings on my finger, my response caught him off guard I guess, he apologised again and ran away (lol). At the time I didn’t know who it was. I looked at our list of mutual friends and asked a very close friend of mine who turned out to be Jeffrey’s’ cousin. For some reason, I felt bad and apologised about my reaction, gave him my number and asked if we could just chat, he declined because to him it won’t be ok to just chat with me.

“Somehow his peaceful nature got through to me and here we are today.”

DJ Switch has faulted Desmond for calling the Nigerian youths “children”, adding that he has proven that having young persons in power, may not bring desired change.

I did not burn down any police station. I only stole two crates of Trophy drinks and a generator – Suspected arsonist confesses (photos)

A suspected arsonist, Taoreed Hamzat, 26, who was apprehended for allegedly participating in the burning of Iseyin Police station, has denied the allegation, saying he only carted away two crates of trophy beers and a small generating set during the vandalization of the police station.

Some hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest that started on October 8, went on a rampage last week Wednesday October 21, destroying private and public infrastructures.

The hoodlums set several police stations ablaze across the country — one of which was the Iseyin police station in Oyo state.

The state police command arrested some of the suspected arsonists and looters and paraded.

When he spoke to newsmen during the parading, Taoreed also known as Shorlex, said,

I joined the other protesters who are mostly my area boys, I saw them looting the station and I also joined and I was fortunate to have carried only two creates of trophy lager beer, and I didn’t even take them to my house. I dropped them right in front of the station and it was shared within us we drank them and shattered the bottles.

I met this small generating set at the entrance of the station, the youths are about to burn it alongside with the Police station, so I carried it to my house, though, I later returned it to the mosque the following day, when our King ordered us to return all the looted items in our possessions back to either Mosque or Palace.

I did not steal this wall clock from the police station, I picked it at entrance of the mosque after have dropped the generator so its not part of the items I looted from the station. Taoreed said

The state commissioner of police, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, confirmed that at least six policemen were gruesomely murdered during the aftermath of the end SARS protests. He also noted that the police cannot ascertain the numbers of the Police officers lost to the sad incident. CP Nwachukwu said some of the hoodlums went as far as going to the houses of those officers purposely to kill them.

67-year-old man rescued after he jumped into Kwara river

A 67-year-old man has been rescued after jumping into Asa River on Abdulwahab Folawiyo, Unity Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Abraham Olayinka jumped into the river at about 11:30am on Monday, October 26, according to Punch.

Traders within the vicinity, who saw him jump into the river, reportedly drew the attention of security men around the area to the incident.

A commercial motorcyclist, Mohammad Abubakar, in response to the call for help, jumped into the river together with some fishermen and they succeeded in rescuing Olayinka.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, who said the victim was rescued before firemen arrived at the scene, said Olayinka was unstable when he was first brought out from the water.

He, however, said the man was revived and taken to a hospital where he was stabilised.

Adekunle said the victim refused to state the reason for attempting suicide despite the pressure mounted on him by the fire service.

Punch gathered from some residents that Olayinka recently lamented about losing N30,000 to some thieves and that the money belonged to a friend.

The commercial motorcyclist who rescued him, Abubakar, said, “I was riding along this area when I saw people gathering around the river bridge. I decided to stop to see what was actually going on, and I was told the old man jumped into the river and there was nobody to help him.

“When I discovered that the old man was still breathing, I waited for a moment to get police permission to rescue him and I immediately jumped into the river.”

Looters are not really hungry, they’re greedy – Femi Adesina (Video)

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, says hoodlums who have been looting warehouses and shops were not necessarily hungry but greedy.

Adesina disclosed on a Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, insisting that the looting spree which occurred in the aftermath of #EndSARS protest was propelled by greed and criminality and not really poverty.

“I wouldn’t agree completely with that (that the looters are hungry) because criminality is criminality, would you justify armed robbery because the man was poor?

“Just as you can’t justify armed robbery because a man was poor and then he took a gun to rob another person. You can’t also justify the lootings that are going on. It is pure criminality.

“It is not everybody engaged in that looting that is hungry, that is the truth. It is pure greed and criminality,” he said.

Man gets frustrated after lady who he asked out 10 months ago refused to accept but asked him not to cheat on her by seeing other women (Screenshots)

The WhatsApp conversation between a man and a lady —supposedly Nigerians— has left a lot of people confused over the situation they both are in.

As can be deducted from their conversation, the man had asked the lady out some ten months ago and she has since then, refused to give him a definitive answer but asked him not to see other women.

According to the lady, she needs time to heal from her previous relationship and doesn’t just want to jump into a new one so there won’t be complications and so she asks the guy to wait for her and in the meanwhile, not see other ladies, cause she considers it “cheating”.

The guy, who apparently is frustrated with the whole situationship and seems to be less interested with the lady —who he saved her number as “Mtcheww”— then asks her not to make such demands from cause he’s not her boyfriend.

Their conversation has stirred mixed reactions from netizens as while some people feel she’s okay to beg that he waits for her cause the healing process of some people takes a lot of time, others feel the waiting period has gone on for far too lng.

Desmond Elliott tenders an apology over his comments on social media

Nigerian actor, director, and politician, Desmond Elliot recently faced heavy backlash from netizens online over his comment in the House of Assembly where he called for a ‘change in narrative’ as regards the way some unruly behavior is displayed on social media.

davido reacts

In the video, the Actor-turned-Lawmaker called on the youth to get into Government if they are tired.

He also seized the opportunity to plead with Nigerian celebrities, social media influencers and motivational speakers to “tune down on the hate narrative.”

He said the youth have a constitutional means to change government and it is called the ‘PVC’.

After facing heavy backlash by people online, the politician has now taken to his Twitter page to tender an apology saying he didn’t mean to be insensitive with his statement.

He wrote,

1. I have read your honest feedback & suggestions& I sincerely apologize for addressing the youth as “Children”

I did not mean to be insensitive with this, it was borne out of the magnitude of destruction & looting of businesses I witnessed when I went on a tour of my constituency

2. I saw women crying and my constituent members distraught as a result of the damages inflicted on their source of livelihood. I was moved by this while giving my submission on the floor of the House.

3. I allowed my emotions get the better of me and for this I apologize to everyone my earlier statements may have hurt.

4. Please, understand that even the best of us make mistakes. This is why, moving forward, I ask that we all try to engage constructively on the issues that affect all of us. I promise to do the same.

5. The pain that I feel for my constituents, the calls for assistance that I continue to get, and the need to mitigate against further destruction and violence will continue to drive my engagements and my work.

6. I thank you all for expressing your views, and in the future, I promise to be more conscious and aware.

Together, we will build a better Nigeria.

“Most young people are high on drugs all the time. They go to social media to do all sorts of things” – Lagos Lawmaker, Mojisola Alli-Macaulay says (Video)

Honourable Mojisola Alli-Maculay has called for the re-orientation of Nigerian Youths.

According to the Lagos State House of Assembly Member, most youths are ‘high on drugs at all times.”

Hon. Mojisola represents Amuwo Odofin 1 constituency, and this statement was made during her submission during the House’s deliberation on the crisis that rocked Lagos State after hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest and carried out wanton destruction of properties and killings this past week.

She averred that young people now go on social media to do all sorts of things.

In her words;

“Look at the children these days. The youths. I like your submission Mr Speaker that it is not unemployment that should be the bane or the reason why youths will come out and misbehave.

“There are unemployment in so many countries of the world, even in the United States. I schooled in the UK and I saw a lot of young people who were not employed but they didn’t become hoodlums. Why can’t we look inwards and look for solutions to our problems. Why can’t young people look within themselves, look for their talents.”

“Even as graduates, what stops you from becoming a designer or a professional tiler?”

“There is no excuse for being a hoodlum.”

“I think it’s about time that the National Orientation Agency needs to set to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people. They need people who can talk to them from time to time.”

“They are high on drugs most of the time, most of them. They go to social media, they do all sorts of things.”

Ganduje reinstates suspended aide who called out President Buhari over #EndSARS protest

Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has reinstated his media aide, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, popularly known as Dawisu.

Recall that Dawisu was suspended over his tweet, condemning Buhari’s administrations response to the EndSARS protest.

The media aide accused president Buhari’s administration of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians even though he went round the country soliciting for votes in 2019.

His tweet read,

“I have never seen a government with zero empathy like that of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“So many times when his people are going through a difficult time and expect some sort of tap on shoulder to reassure them that he is in charge, but he failed to do so.

“The ‘I don’t care attitude’ is on another level.

“To speak to your own people over issues that are bedeviling them has become something like a favour you are doing to them.

“Over and over again, you cannot spare five minutes to address the nation to calm them down, the same people you went to the 36 states to beg for their votes, it is heartbreaking.”

However, Dawisu has again taken to Twitter, but this time, to confirm his reinstatement, two weeks after he was suspended.

He tweeted,

“I wish to thank each and every one that reached out to me, or sent messages of goodwill over my reinstatement as Special Adviser Media to H.E @GovUmarGanduje, after my 2wks suspension. I am grateful to you all for your support and prayers. Thank you so much. #ZeroTension”

Lekki Shooting: “Army used blank bullets” Former spokesman Sani Usman claims

Former spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sani Usman(rtd) has claimed that blank ammunition was used during the gunfire incidence at the Lekki tollgates on October, 20th.

Usman who spoke on ARISE News on Wednesday, October 27th, stated that blank ammo has little or no effect on its target.

In his words,

“If you look at the canisters, they were blank ammo and blank ammo don’t even kill. At a close range, l – maybe 100-metres – maybe it will have some pigmentation on your skin.

Remember the military are armed and by the nature of their training, they are trained to kill and I think the military in its wisdom instead of using live ammunition decided to use blank armour which is meant for training.

I think they should be commended for that otherwise there would have been serious collateral damage, but they were professional enough to have done that.”

Human rights group, Amnesty International had on Wednesday October 28th, released a timeline of the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the toll plaza on October 20. The AI said its crisis response experts investigated and verified social media videos and photographs that confirmed that security forces were present at the scene when the shootings occurred.

In response Usman said,

“There was a time when I was the director army public relations, Amnesty International accused the Nigerian military of killing over 5000 people in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Common sense would have told you that there was no hospital with the capacity to contain even 50 dead bodies or 100. This and many other spurious allegations have been going on against the Nigerian military by the Amnesty International.”

The clergymen during a sermon advised them to be wary of ladies, as 93% of everything about them are lies. In this context, he was referring to make-up and fake “bum-bum”.

He further added that the best time for a man to make his marriage intentions known to a lady is early in the morning. According to him, it is the best time because the man will see the lady’s real face without any beauty enhancement.

“Boys! two things I want to tell you, beware of deceivers, everything about girls, 93% na lie. If you want to engage a girl, go around 6am when she is still sleeping so that you will see the true colour of the girl.” he said.
