Davido signs first female artiste, Liya to his DMW record label

Popular Nigerian singer, Davido has officially signed his first female artiste, Liya to his record label, Davido Music Worldwide.

The excited new signee and DMW first lady took to her Instagram page to share the good news after all contracts have been sealed.

She wrote,

Nigerians celebrate as Onitsha sea port becomes functional after decades (Photos/Video)

In a new development, the Onitsha sea port has become functional after it was commissioned on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020.

Videos and photos from the port show containers being offloaded. According to presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi,

“The Plan is to move containers from Lagos & Onne Ports to Onitsha by barge. For now I believe what’s being done is testing. You need to do a pilot first, assess efficiency, do troubleshooting etc, before you roll out full operations. But if it works as planned it’s gon be a BFD!!”

He added,

“So someone just pointed out to me that on the Maersk website,Onitsha is now available as a port of final destination. A vessel departing Shanghai Oct 10 (this Sat) has Onitsha listed as terminal port (arrival Dec 2, 2020).”

The Onitsha sea port has not been functional for decades and quite a number of Nigerians took to Twitter to celebrate following its commissioning.

A young Nigerian woman from Edo has given birth to triplets after she was allegedly abandoned by her husband.

The woman delivered two girls and a boy at the General Hospital Agenebode, Etsako Local Government Area of Edo State on October 1.

According to Facebook user, Shadrack Okpomhe, the woman’s husband absconded after she became pregnant.

Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, October 6, Mr Okpomhe, said the mother and her children have been discharged from the hospital after the medical bills were paid. Baby food, clothes and other essentials were also provided for them.

“Few days ago, on the 1-10-2020, this lady put to birth set of triplets, two girls and a boy.Immediately her attention was drawn to me, no baby food, no baby clothes, and same time unable to pay their bills, as God could have it, I posted and Mr Godsent M. Sadoh took it up and the rest was history. All the above mentioned got provided and mother and kids got home safely. God bless you all” Okpomhe wrote.

According to the singer, he’s not backing down on the protest but ready to take the forefront alongside Runtown to put an end to police brutality in the country.

A Nigerian lady who is in search of a house in Lagos took to Twitter to share screenshots of the chat between her and an agent standing in for a landlord.

The lady, identified as Mary Ufot, who hails from Akwa Ibom state, revealed that the agent inquired where she’s from and told her that Igbo tenants are not wanted.

Mary revealed that although she mentioned that she’s not Igbo, the agent still told her that those from Akwa Ibom are still considered Igbo.

The exchange between her and the agent has since started a conversation on Twitter about tribalism in Nigeria.

Millions of Nigerians are extremely poor – Osinbajo says

Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has admitted that millions of Nigerians are living in extreme poverty.

Osinbajo made the admittance at the closing of the two-day executive-legislative leadership retreat held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said elected leaders would be irresponsible if they don’t collaborate and find solutions to what he termed the nation’s ”life-threatening problems.”

The vice president also stated that members of the executive and legislative arms of government have no choice than to collaborate in order not to fail Nigerians who have given them the opportunity to serve at the high leadership levels they currently occupy.

He said, “Let me say that every generation of leadership must understand context. Law itself must be interpreted and implemented in context.

“What is the reality of the context that we operate in today? We all know, our nation has millions of extremely poor people, the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened employment and poverty.

“We have huge deficits in infrastructure, many children are out of school. If that is our context, we will be callous and irresponsible if we don’t come together, work together to sort out these grave life-threatening problems our people have to confront every day.”

The VP added, “It is time to focus on what we have been elected or appointed to do. This is the welfare of our people. The law and practice as between parliament and executive is a means to an end not an end to itself. The means must not jeopardise the end.

“Our people just want food on their table, shelter over their heads, clothing on their bodies, healthcare and education for their children and themselves.

“So, the good legislature or good minister is not the one who is waving the law, and procedure, and doctrines, it is the one who says the spirit of our Constitution is that we secure the maximum welfare, freedom, and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity.

“The good legislator or minister is the one who will do all in his or her power to serve the needs of our people, even if it means walking the fine lines, as Hon Wudil said between the law and reality.”

Nigerian journalist and TV presenter, @iamokon has taken to Twitter commend singer, Naira Marley for being patriotic as he describes him the ‘Fela’ of today.

Okon likened Naira to Fela because he was ready to take the forefront in the campaign against police brutality, before the Nigerian police force pleaded with him to cancel the protest.

Recall that, Naira Marley earlier cancelled #EndSars protest scheduled to hold today Tuesday, October 6th.

This came after a statement was made by the Inspector General of Police, as he inform Nigerian youths that their voices and complaints on the issues of unprofessional conducts by some SARS operatives would been heard very loudly and clearly.

Naira took to Twitter to back out of the protest, as he said there will be an Instagram live session with PRO- DCP Frank Mba on his page.

Impressed that the singers call for protest could bring about a positive response from the Nigerian police force, the Twitter user likened the Marlian president to Fela.

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR), has appointed big brother Naija ‘lockdown’ winner, Laycon, as the Youth Ambassado and Member of Ogun State Executive Council.
Laycon appointed Youth Ambassador.

The governor also announced a gift of three bedroom bungalow and N5million for the singer who was received by a mammoth crowd today at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State..

The Governor said ;

“Once again, I congratulate you and on this note, I hereby appoint you as YOUTH AMBASSADOR OF OGUN STATE. I look forward to working with you to be a model of good character, excellence, good virtues, calmness, integrity that are general attributes of Ogun State, and in fact, your homestead, Odeda.

Fake Lawyer Arrested While Defending Case In Ogun State Court

A 47-year-old man, Tajudeen Olufemi Idris, was on Friday, arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly parading himself as a legal practitioner knowing-full well that he is not.

The Ogun State Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed that the suspect was arrested at Magistrates Court 6 Ifo while appearing before Chief Magistrate I.A Arogundade in a civil trial between one Ifeanyi Chuckwu and Ayo Itori.

At the court, the suspect was said to have claimed to be a legal counsel from Tajudeen O. Idris & Co Chamber, representing one of the parties.

“His conduct and presentation before the Chief magistrate rose suspicious about his qualification as a lawyer and this prompted the Chief Magistrate to ask him of the year he was called to the bar, which he claimed to be 2009.

But further enquiry revealed that his name is nowhere to be found amongst those called to bar in 2009, hence, police were notified,” Oyeyemi said.

Consequently, the DPO of Ifo division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle had detailed his operatives to the scene where the suspect was apprehended.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has expressed concern over the increase in the rising number of fake lawyers swindling people of their hard earned money.

Ajogun recalled that not less than five cases of fake lawyers have been reported since his assumption of office in less than two months ago.

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to call out a man who offered her 150k so she could do some very weird fetishes with him daily.

Sharing the story on Facebook, the lady, Britney Sophia Mark narrated how the guy known as Samson Obiaze had chatted her up, made his intentions known, then went ahead to make her an offer of 150k to eat her faeces, an offer she outrightly rejected.

He also offered her an extra 50,000 naira to make it N200k so that he can drink her menses, which really disgusted her.

The guy revealed that he wishes to suck her anus for one month and even after she visits the toilet.

She warned him never to send such disgusting messages to her, and he replied by blasting her that she just wants to throw away N150k.

Residents scoop fuel from fallen tanker in Lagos

Residents of Aso-Odo, Badagry in the early hours of today ignored possible explosion as they scooped petroleum from a fallen tanker in the area.

A tanker filled with 33,000 liters of fuel crashed on Tuesday morning October 6th, in Igborosun, along Badagry road, Lagos state.

It was reported that the nonchalant resident went to the scene of the fallen tanker and began to scoop fuel.

According to Eyewitness account, despite the presence of security operatives in the area, the residents continued to fill their containers with fuel.

However, some concerned residents of the area took to social media to notify appropriate authorities.

Confirming the incident, the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke, stated that the agency’s attention has been drawn to the incident and emergency response has been sent to the scene.

He also urged residents of the area to stay away from the scene to avoid a secondary incident.

In his words,

“Members of the public are cautioned to cooperate with responders and to keep away from the scene and refrain from scooping petrol as this could cause a secondary incident,”

Atiku’s daughter-in-law, Fatima apologizes for her ‘revealing’ wedding dress

Fatima Ribadu, the new daughter-in-law of former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has apologized for the controversial dress she wore on her wedding day.

Recall that the son of the former vice president of Nigeria, Aliyu Abubakar got married to his heartthrob, Fatima Ribadu, daughter of former EFCC Chairman in Abuja on Saturday, October 3rd.

Fatima donned a stunning couture wedding dress by a prominent Dubai fashion designer for her big day. The photos went viral on social media which stirred up negative reactions amongst adherents of the Islamic Faith.

She has however expressed regret over her choice of dress and apologized to her friends and family for her mistake.

She wrote,

“I got married on Saturday 03/10/20 and some pictures of me that were taken inside our home got out and was shared on social media,”

“This is an action which I sincerely regret. I apologize to my friends and family for this mistake and want to sincerely thank each and everyone that has risen to my defense,”

“My under dress, which was brownish was mistaken for being my skin and exposing my body. I will never do such,”

“However, I accept responsibility for causing my family and well wishers this dismay and will learn froom this going forward.”

A young Nigerian lady has taken to her social media page to celebrate herself after she finally became a Medical Doctor, seven years after she left her parents’ house as a ”naive teenager”.

The proud young Doctor shared beautiful photos of herself and accompanied her post with a caption that read ;

I left home at 17 and my journey began. Naive and sheltered for most of my life, I faced unbelievable challenges and many times I broke down. But I persevered. And today, at 24, I have TWO degrees. I’m a DOCTOR OF MEDICINE. The very first in my family. I’m a starrrrrrrrrrr

Late Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo’s son, Zenan, celebrates 3rd birthday

Late Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo’s son, Zenan, clocks three today October 6th and his dad Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, organized a little party to celebrate his birthday.

Sharing photos from the celebration on his Instagram page, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo wrote, “Happy birthday my dear son. You are blessed and highly favoured, Your mum and I love you immensely. Continue to shine and do great things. God bless and honour you always son”.

Also celebrating Zenan’s birthday, his late mum’s elder brother, Dare recounted how Ibidun would have gone the extra mile to celebrate her sons new age.

In his words,

“Your mum would have gone the extra mile for you today! Her joy from watching you grow into a smart and energetic boy would have gladdened her heart! Her love for you is/was stronger than the cord!But we are all here for you to make your day worthwhile and give you all the love you deserve”.

Ibidun a former-beauty queen and event planner, died on June 14th 2020, leaving behind her husband and two children.
