A tragic incident occurred at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Zoological Park on Monday, February 19, as a zookeeper named Olabode Olawuyi was fatally attacked by a nine-year-old lion.

Mr. Olabode, a Veterinary Technologist who had been overseeing the zoological park for over a decade, tragically lost his life to the wild animal.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, revealed that Olabode had been caring for the lions since their birth nine years ago.

“Mr. Olawuyi has been taking care of the lions since they were born on campus about 9 years ago but, tragically, the male lion killed the man who had been feeding them.”

The statement further revealed that other staff, who witnessed the incident, did everything within their power to save the deceased, but the lion had already inflicted serious injuries on him.

“The other members of staff who were at the scene of the incident did everything within their power to rescue their boss but the wild cat had already caused severe fatalities.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon BAMIRE, was informed, on arrival, by the Acting Director of the University Health and Medical Centre Dr. Tirimisiyu Olatunji, that all first aid and medical efforts to save the life of the victim proved abortive.

Saddened by this tragic event, the aggressive Lion has been euthanized. The University management has sent a delegation to the widow and children of the deceased, imploring them to take solace in God who gives life and also has the power to take life.”

According to the statement, a comprehensive investigation has commenced to uncover the root cause of the incident.

A Canadian influencer by the name of @PattWallace has shared on the microblogging platform X an image of his water bottle after placing it in the dishwasher.

The influencer who had decided to wash his water bottle with the dishwasher was not expecting the end result.

Posting the before and after picture of the bottle he said seeing his bottle in that form left him speechless.

The bottle had melted in the dishwasher causing it to shrink into a smaller form.

Nigerian chef stunned netizens’ online after she shared how to prepare “Fufu” using carrots. Many claimed the process was too long to prepare swallow.

The chef identified as @joyfulcook_ took to her TikTok page to lecture her viewers on how to prepare what she termed as “Carrot Fufu”. She revealed a step by step process of preparing the meal in a video including the nutrients.

In the viral clip, she washed and peeled the carrots, cut it into cubes and blended the carrot to smooth in an electric blender. She drained the carrot water, then transfer the shaft into a cooking pot.

While mixing the carrot shaft, she proceeded to adding oat flour and carrot water for the mix to steam well. She said the carrot fufu should be consumed with different vegetable soups.

She noted the carrot water can be consumed directly or used to prepare another meal.

Popular apostle Reverend Harrison Ayintete has criticised Christians for their financial stinginess towards God.

A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to bemoan her predicament of indirect domestic violence with her husband, eight months after marriage.

She disclosed that she intends to file for divorce from her spouse due to the recent, dangerous scheme he executed against her.

She said that while they had only been married for eight months, he had paid a female tout, agebro to beat her up after they got into a fight two months prior.

The woman claims that her spouse has never physically beaten her and that she has never dared him. She claimed he apologised and that she was forgiving of him, but he repeated the same thing.

A South African lady who identifies as @_simplyenny has shared via the microblogging platform X, why she doesn’t consume alcohol.

Before she started narrating the story, she revealed that she was raped by a guy whom she was familiar with in their neighborhood.

She continued by saying he had moved to her table when he saw her sitting alone in a public place and they had several drinks together.

When she had informed him that she was leaving, he proposed to drive her home in his car, which she agreed to.

During the ride, he told her that they would stop by his home first because he wanted to pick something up.

On reaching his house, he invited her in which she wished she had declined, and offered her more drinks.

Just as she told him she wanted to go home, he got up, locked the door, took the keys away, and violated her.

After the incident she felt ashamed and couldn’t tell anybody about it, she however felt infuriated when she saw him at her workplace the next day.

“Until a week later when he showed up at my workplace with his buddies. I was livid They started laughing and one of his buddies gave him a fistbump like I was just another girl on his “hitlist” I left work crying and went straight to my brother and told him everything. I asked him to take to the police station to open a case and he said no. No one would believe me coz there was no evidence. I felt helpless, hopeless He asked me to show him where the guy lived, I thought he was gonna confront him and rough him up a bit, but he didn’t do anything. Until the 31st of December that year, we had a New Year’s Eve braai at home and my brother wasn’t there. We thought maybe he left with his friends to celebrate New Year’s somewhere else. 12 o’clock came, we lit fireworks and gave each other hugs. He came back later and gave me a long hug. Like he was squeezing the life out of me. He looked different, he wasn’t smiling as usual or celebrating. The following day we heard that my rapist was shot and he died.”

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Seyi Law, has penned an open letter addressed to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regarding the ongoing economic hardship.

Seyi Law, who has been vocal about his support for the ruling party, reiterated his backing for the current administration but made it clear that he would not hesitate to call them out when necessary.

In the letter, the 40-year-old comedian urged the president to address issues such as rising food costs, electricity, and to hold his cabinet members accountable.

Seyi Law also emphasized the importance of accountability and pledged to continue asking tough questions until improvements are made for the nation’s betterment.

Mr. President, @officialABAT

I know you’re not new to the complexity of governance in Nigeria, and I truly hope you’re feeling the pulse of the nation at this point in time. I am one of your ardent supporters, and I won’t hesitate to be one of your critics when necessary. Sir, may I cast your mind back to 2012 when your party was able to convince Nigerians who had just had a beautiful yuletide celebration to take over the street in protest of the removal of subsidy on fuel. It was such a turning point for Jonathan’s administration and ushered in President Muhammadu Buhari. It might interest you to know that I wasn’t one of the Nigerians convinced then to vote Buhari. Can you now imagine what great protest it would be for Nigerians to troop into the streets because of hunger, insecurity and inability to afford basic amenities?. I don’t want to imagine it and talk more of joining them.

Your Excellency, good intentions are mere intentions without proper implementations. There are certain things that I expected will be quickly fixed to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal. I am yet to see a fully implemented plan in the short term. I used Moses and the Israelites’ journey from Egypt as an analogy in one of my write-ups, and it wasn’t a mistake. It was deliberate as you probably know that the Israelites got to a point and began to complain, preferring to go back to slavery in Egypt rather than moving forward. They got tired of Manna, and now Nigerians are asking, “Where is our manna for this time?” I waited for almost 2 years to join a protest against the former President Buhari’s administration because I believe that at least every new administration needs a minimum of one and a half years to stabilise. For every tick and tock on the clock, time is running on your administration.

Mr. President, it will be sad to lose the goodwill of over 8.9 million people who voted you because of the incompetence of the people in your cabinet. I believe at the mark of one year, there should be an appraisal of everyone, and those found wanting must go. Please, Sir, we are waiting patiently on the PCNG buses initiative and soft measures on food availability and affordability. The issue of electricity is deeply concerning. We need members of your cabinet to communicate more effectively with visible action plans. Nigerians followed the continuous updates from the minister of interior, the actions of Governor Wike, and the progress of minister Bosun Tijani. We are therefore forced to ask what the others are doing because we don’t want a situation where someone who served with you will enjoy the liberty of going on the media to proffer solutions where he or she one’s failed.

While I support your Excellency, I will keep asking the tough questions and not stop until you achieve success for the greater good of the nation. This nation must and should be better for all.

A Nigerian man identified as Suleiman Enesi Umar advised his fellow men to give their male child a name they love and not the one their wife suggest. He noted a man is born to lead and a woman is born to follow.

Sharing via his Facebook page, he stated reasons why a woman shouldn’t be permitted to name her son. A man shouldn’t let his emotions sway him to allowing his wife to suggest a name for their male child.

According to him, a woman is capable of naming her male child to honour her ex-boyfriend, whom she had planned the future with. He wrote in honour and remembrance of the man, she will suggest the name of the man for her son.

He advised his fellow men to take the lead and not be carried away with emotions. A woman is born to follow her husband’s lead.

The Nigerian man’s thoughts about how couples should name their male child is being criticized by many Internet users. Many opined a child should be named base on the parents agreement.

Popular Nigerian thespian Adebowale Debo Adedayo fondly referred to as Mr Macaroni has clapped back at some singer Davido’s fan who criticized him for not addressing singer Burna Boy’s tweet about Eedris Abdulkareem.

The call-out which was a shocking one for the activist, got him vexed which led to him cursing out the fan.

Recall that Burna Boy in a now-deleted tweet had insulted the Nigerian rapper Eedris for discrediting him during a podcast session.

The 30bg fanbase had expected Mr Macaroni to criticize Burna Boy just like he did to Davido’s aide who slapped a fan.

Recall that the award-winning movie star welcomed his third child with his wife last week, but due to his busy schedule, he couldn’t be there for the birth.

However, he was eager to see his wife and new baby, so he decided to fly to the US to surprise her. His wife was indeed taken aback by the unexpected visit.

Popular American-based Nigerian actor Seun Sean Jimoh has shared via his Instagram page that there’s no reason why food should be scarce in Nigeria.

The actor who has been speaking about the country’s economy for some time now, advises the government to declare a state of emergency on food production.

According to the actor, the only time food should be scarce is when the country is at war or there is no land suitable for growing agricultural crops.

He wrote;

“Dear Nigerian government, it’s time to declare a state of emergency on food production! The only time there should be famine in the land is if war or if there is no arable land!! The man identified as @coded4441 on TikTok revealed the ten rules and regulations the lady had sent to him while they were chatting on Whatsapp.

Apparently, he was wooing the lady and was not expecting rules and regulations to start a romantic relationship. He was surprise to receive rules he has to abide with when they were still in their talking stage.

A Nigerian medical doctor who identifies as @King_pearcee on the microblogging platform X has shared a heartbreaking story about how a woman who had been seeking the fruit of the womb for 15 years lost her twins.

He mentioned that the woman’s water broke before the right time of labor and she opted to go to the church instead of the hospital to pray for 5 days.

After praying for 5 days in the church, she decided to go to the hospital where both babies were confirmed dead.

His tweet read,

Popular content creator, Ife Luv has taken to social media to lament the state of her automobile after taking it to a mechanic for some minor repairs.

She shared a video on her Instagram page showing the current state of the car as she explained how the horrible incident occurred.

According to her, the car was in great shape with just a tiny problem when the mechanic carried it and he was supposed to return it the next day but used it to cruise around till it was destroyed.
