In a tragic development, General Segun Aremu (rtd), the Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, was brutally murdered by daredevil gunmen.

The yet-to-identified gunmen stormed the palace on Thursday night, February 2, killed the monarch and abducted his wife and two others.

Confirming the tragedy, the state government released a statement through the chief press secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.

The statement reads;

“Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condemned the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, HRH retd General Segun Aremu. The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others. The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable. He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.

We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity. My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has averred that kidnapping is not on the rise in Nigeria, and people should not believe everything they see on social media.

This statement comes amidst the growing outcry over the increasing cases of kidnappings and insecurity in the country, leaving people on edge.

Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, February 1, Olumuyiwa stated that the reported cases are not as many as claimed on social media, and people should disregard the reports they see online.

The spokesperson further attributed the cause of the kidnappings to the topography and waterways in the region.

He said:

“In most cases, it is the topography of the areas. The kidnapping in Lagos was actually triggered due to the waterways, do you know that the waterway from Lagos leads to Delta, leads to Portharcourt, leads to Bayelsa. It is the same waterway.”

Following the interview, the PRO took to the Twitter to reiterate his statement, adding that most of the kidnapping cases reported online were either staged or faked.

He wrote,

Former Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has expressed his surprise that some people are portraying Goodluck Jonathan as the best president Nigeria has ever had.

In a post shared on X, Bashir highlighted the challenging period his home state, Kano, endured during Jonathan’s administration.

He emphasized that they faced an unprecedented level of adversity that left a lasting impact on residents of Kano.

According to him, people couldn’t go to public places without being checked thoroughly, and public gatherings and night movements were restricted.

On this day, the Kano Central Mosque, situated adjacent to the Emir of Kano’s palace, was attacked, and over 200 people lost their lives on site. It was the darkest moment in the history of Kano.

While I cannot speak for Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, etc, but for us in Kano, there is no doubt that the era under Jonathan was the most challenging period we have ever faced. The level of adversity we experienced was unparalleled and left a lasting impact on our lives.

The destruction had left Kano in shambles. Those days, no one can go to the mosque, market, school, or even hospital without being thoroughly checked. Public gatherings have been banned, and night movement has been canceled.

Nigerian health influencer, Egemba Chinonso Fidelis, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has revealed that he will willingly sacrifice his life for his wife, Chiamaka.

The medical doctor stated this in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, while discussing sacrificial love.

Aproko Doctor, who tied the knot with his wife in June 2020, disclosed that if it ever came to laying down his life for his wife, he would gladly do it.

According to him, it would be easy for him to make such a sacrifice because he understands his wife’s value and has witnessed her capabilities.

The doctor, who is known for giving health advice on social media, disclosed this in a video he shared via his Twitter handle on Monday morning, January 16.

He said he went blind in one eye on December 3rd 2022 and was diagnosed with Cranio Pharygiona – a brain tumour – two days later.

He said he had to undergo brain surgery to remove the tumour, and battled for survival throughout December 2022.

An American woman, Jennifer Martin, has revealed that she lives happily with her husband, Daniel, and her boyfriend, Ty, in the same house.

The 35-year-old resident of Virginia, USA, and her 36-year-old husband tied the knot in 2008 and soon welcomed two children. However, in 2015, the couple opened their marriage to accommodate multiple partners.

They decided to fully embrace polyamory before the COVID-19 pandemic when they invited Ty, aged 33, to live in their home and split the rent.

They lived together in a rented apartment for four years, with each of them contributing to the household expenses amid escalating housing costs.

Jennifer, Daniel, and Ty collectively navigate their financial responsibilities, with Ty contributing $700 towards the monthly rent of $1,537. Groceries are covered by Jennifer and Daniel, while Ty pays for utilities and Wi-Fi.

Ty has also developed a close bond with Jennifer and Daniel’s children and occasionally assists with their personal expenses.

Professionally, Jennifer works as a freelance editor, Daniel serves as a private school teacher, and Ty holds the position of a bank manager.

Their combined annual income of approximately $155,000 has not only facilitated their shared living arrangement but also enabled them to save towards buying a house.

The trio recently achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home for $325,000 in December last year.

Speaking with The Post, Jennifer said,

“I definitely don’t think we would have been able to buy a house without Ty.

I don’t know almost anyone my own age in Richmond who owns a home, and of those that did, they were in their mid or late 30s before they did.”

In their current house, Jennifer spends two nights each week in Daniel’s bedroom and two nights in Ty’s bedroom. She said she plans to maintain this arrangement when they move to their new house next month.

“I know other polyamorous people who believe each poly person should have their own bedroom but since we have kids, that extra space is a luxury,” Jennifer stated.

“Instead, I switch beds between Ty’s room and Daniel’s room every two nights, and I have a basket that I carry from room to room with my nighttime essentials like my face wash, night cream, night guard and the book I’m reading … I try to make it as fair as possible for sleeping arrangements between Ty and Daniel.”

The mother of two further explained that both Ty and Daniel are also seeing other people.

“Daniel has a serious nonbinary partner he sees once a week, while Ty has a long-distance partner in Pittsburgh and occasionally hooks up and dates other people locally,” Jenifer said. “I have two more casual relationships as well, with a woman and a man who both also date each other.”

“We’re really happy, we get along great, and my kids are thriving with three partners,” Jennifer told The Post, adding that it’s been a boon to more than just her bank account.

Taking to Facebook on Thursday, February 1, Oyiza shared her harrowing ordeal in Libya, revealing that she endured serial sexual abuse and false accusations by her employer.

She said she was tortured for hours by the authorities before being imprisoned, even without officially appearing in court.

According to her, she still has physical and emotional scars that haven’t faded seven years after her return.

Oyiza, who now advocates against human trafficking, advised Nigerians against irregular migration and raised awareness about the dangers faced by individuals in Libya.

In a shocking case that has sent shockwaves across China, a Chinese couple has been executed for the gruesome murder of the man’s two young children from a previous marriage.

Zhang Bo and his girlfriend, Ye Chengchen, were put to death by lethal injection after their death sentences were recently approved by China’s top court.

The heinous crime took place in 2020 when Zhang threw his two children, a 2-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy, out of a high-rise apartment window on the 15th floor of a residential tower in Chongqing.

The court determined that his girlfriend forced him to commit the heinous act, considering the children as an “obstacle” to their relationship.

They staged the deaths to appear as accidental falls.

After a lengthy appeals process, which included a second trial, the original death sentences were upheld by the Chongqing High People’s Court.

The Supreme People’s Court approved the ruling, recognizing both Zhang and Ye as principal offenders with equal roles and influence.

The motive behind the crime was described as “despicable,” and the means employed were deemed “brutal” by the court.

The severity of the crime warranted severe consequences under the law.

Actress, Simisola Gold bags six months imprisonment for spraying new naira notes

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has given Nollywood actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, also known as Simisola Gold, a six-month prison term for stepping on and spraying the new naira notes in Lagos state.

Recall that she was taken into custody by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in February 2023. Read here.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke found her guilty of the two counts against which she had earlier entered a not guilty plea.

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) initially charged Simisola on February 13, 2023.

The charge read; “That you, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, on the 28th day of January 2023, at Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, whilst dancing during a social occasion, tampered with the sum of N100,000 (one hundred thousand naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same in the said occasion and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.”

However, in light of the overwhelming evidence against her, Omoseyin altered her not guilty plea to guilty during the hearing that was resumed on Thursday.

Z.B. Atiku, the prosecution’s attorney, requested to tender the ICPC letter and other supporting materials as evidence. These included the defendant’s extrajudicial statement, a forensic report from her phone, a CD with videos of her spraying the naira note, a flash drive from the event centre, and the statement from the center’s representative.

Judge Aneke found the defendant guilty of the charges against the defendant after admitting them as exhibits.

Afuye Adegbola, the defendant’s defence attorney, begged the court for mercy and a non-custodial sentence on the defendant’s behalf.

Adegbola said; “She’s a first-time offender; she is a mother of one; she is remorseful and pleads for mercy.”

Judge Aneke handed down the punishment, which included a N300,000 fine in addition to six months in prison.

Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has declared that he deserves to have won Grammy awards in the past.

The “Holy Ground” singer received three nominations the previous year. His album “Timeless” received a nomination for Best Global Music Album.

According to her, they don’t provide pads for their female prisoners and they still take away the ones provided by people.

Netizens have shared different points of view after a Nigerian man who recently resumed his new job in Ghana complained online that his Ghanaian colleagues hate him. This was because, on his first day at work, he asked them to open the business outlet earlier than the usual time.

The man identified as @Nomatriquencee revealed that the outlet usually opens at 12 pm, he questioned why they would open for work at that hour when the outlet can commence work from 10 am.

According to him, his Ghanaian colleagues now hate him because of the suggestion, hence, one of them exclaimed that Nigerians are known for doing too much. He regarded his colleagues as lazy people and he was ready to make them work.

The tweet has sparked mixed reactions online regarding the man’s attitude in a new environment especially in a country that is not his nationality. In a shocking incident captured on video, a courageous 12-year-old girl fearlessly confronted a snake in a desperate attempt to save her beloved guinea pig.

The remarkable video, shared shows the extraordinary lengths young Rosie Wightman went to in order to rescue her pet named MaxiBon from the snake’s grip.

The incident took place in the backyard of their home.

In the video, she can be seen searching through shrubs until she discovers the snake with its jaws wrapped around the small guinea pig.

Without hesitation, she bravely grabs the snake and swings it around, forcing it to release its grip on her pet.

In an interview with 7NEWS, she explained,

“Didn’t even think it through. I was just like, ‘grab the snake, grab the snake’.”

Fortunately, her quick thinking attracted the attention of her father, Luke Wightman, who rushed to the scene.

With his help, the snake was separated from the guinea pig, allowing her pet to scamper to safety unharmed.

Reflecting on his daughter’s courageous act, he expressed his pride, stating:

“I’m proud that my Rosie, at 12 years old, had the guts to pick up a snake and save her pet’s life.”

A U.S based Nigerian woman narrates how she recovered her stolen package after she threatened to use African Juju if her package was not returned.

The lady identified as @the_nnenna shared on Twitter (X), what she had to do for her stolen package to be returned. She had to put up notes all over the building to create awareness about her package that was stolen from the apartment’s mailroom.

She alerted the other residents that if her package was not returned, she was ready to use African Juju and the alleged thief would go insane after some days.

In her tweet, she wrote;

“So my package was stolen in my apartment’s mailroom yesterday and I put up these notes all over the building. Guess whose package was dropped at her door this afternoon”

Sharing in a later tweet, she explained that her package was stolen as it wasn’t returned in the original packaging. She also put up other notes to appreciate the return of her package and added she would reverse the Juju.

“My package was returned but not in the original packaging nor in a shipping box, proof that they stole it. I know I may be doing too much but at least they would know not to move anyhow near me or my stuff . I put these thank you notes around to deter others too.”

Popular Nigerian comedian Ekene Clinton Egbuna professionally known as KlintonCOD has reacted to the viral video of a soldier who spoke about earning 50k monthly.

Recall that, a video was shared online, whereby a soldier wearily complained about how he was unable to visit his family because of how expensive the transport fare was and how much he earned.

The comedian quoted the video of the soldier on the microblogging platform X and tweeted that they deserved it.

To support his claim, he noted that this same military man are out there protecting people sharing millions of dollars.

Adding that if they are desperate for a salary increase it is up to them.

He wrote, “In my opinion they deserve it, if they want salary increase, it’s also in their hands. Let them continue protecting people sharing millions of dollars whilst they receive N50k to live in the forest away from their families.”

We have never received any aid from this organization,” said President Troare.

A Nigerian lady has shared on social media how she received a miracle after listening to the first sermon of the Nollywood actor and founder of True Salvation Ministries (TSM), Yul Edochie. She encouraged the controversial actor to open a physical branch for his newfound ministry.

Taking to Facebook, the lady gave a narration of how she encountered the miracle because she believed and stayed consistent with the miracle.

The lady mentioned she was still suffering from runny stomach after using medical pills days before the program commenced. She shared her testimony that the purging ceased and encouraged the service to continue.

She wrote;

“Dear Pastor Yul Edochie

I followed your sermon and received a miracle.

I was having an elongated running stomach days before the programme started, it couldn’t stop even after i took Flagyl.

On the day of TSM Church service, I believed for my miracle and stayed consistent till the end.

A young lady has received a lot of praise from Nigerians over the selfless act she exhibited on her way back from school.

She had helped revive an asthmatic man who slumped on the road after his inhaler finished.

According to @AlgorithmPrime who shared the information on the microblogging platform X, he revealed that the girl alighted from the tricycle that was conveying her home to help the poor man.

Adding that, her acts show that there is hope for humanity because she didn’t hesitate to give her inhaler out to a stranger.

“This man slumped on the road today his Inhaler has finished we were all rushing to find a way to save him and then this little school girl rushed out of a keke taking her home brought out her inhaler to save a complete stranger. There is hope for humanity.”
