Spain’s Prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, appointed Edelmira Barreira as the country’s sex tsar to get Spaniards to produce more babies. The country is faced with a population crisis, with fewer births than deaths recorded for the first time last year.
Experts say long working hours and a culture of eating late at night and going to bed after midnight are partly to blame for the nation’s sex famine. Since 2008 the number of births in Spain has plunged by 18%.
And the number of childless couples has nearly tripled from 1.5million in 1977 to 4.4million in 2015.
Most Spanish women say they would like two or more children but in 2015 those aged 18 to 49 had an average of 1.3 children – well below the EU figure of 1.58.
Spain’s education ministry said the declining birth-rate “aggravates other economic imbalances and generates important ‘impacts’ in the Welfare State.
We all had our hopes up when the news broke last year that the actress was at the brink of tying the knots finally! But our hopes crumbled when we later discovered that the proposed wedding was cancelled due to misunderstanding from the couple.
Well, recently, a source has revealed that the mother of one secretly traveled to an undisclosed island few weeks ago where she reportedly tied the knot.
The actress has not confirmed nor disclosed the news to anyone but her disappearance and the engagement ring she showed off on her IG page has raised eyebrows.
The identity of the man too is yet to be known, it’s not new that she’s not the type to put on a public face when it comes to her private life, most especially since her disappointment with the guy she almost got married to last year.
The actress has planned to walk down the aisle in Milan Italy last year 2016, with her then boo, Ugochukwu Udezue but it was called off by him because she wanted their wedding to be secret which he wasn’t in support of.
So if this is real, we can only but wish the best for her and if not, yeah well… we wish her godspeed either ways.
As bizarre as it sounds, a “Baby Bin” has been created for parents (Desperate mothers) who wants to dump their unwanted newborns. And the church behind it claims it has saved hundreds of lives as they say it gives unwanted babies a fresh shot at life after they are abandoned.
The Berea Baptist Church in Johannesburg installed the hatch so newborns could be left anonymously by parents unable or unwilling to care for them, they call it “The Door Of Hope“.
Desperate parents can leave their young babies in the hatch, where they will be picked up and cared for by staff at the orphanage
Desperate mothers can leave their child in the hatch, nicknamed the Door of Hope. Staff at the centre are alerted by alarm when a baby is left in the hatch.
When it was installed in 1999, up to 50 babies were being dumped on the streets and left to die by their parents every month.
Among the horrific stories highlighted by the centre include babies being flushed down toilets, left at rubbish dumps and thrown from buildings.
But the Door of Hope says it has saved the lives more than 1,500 lives through its kind-hearted charity work since.

After almost two days of waiting for their arrival, 41 Nigerian human trafficking victims returned home from Mali on Monday. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) flew the victims from Bamako, Mali into Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, touching down at 7:25 p.m. on Monday night. The victims were subsequently profiled by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
The returnees were all women in their 20s or younger.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Matters, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, along with officials of the National Agency for Protection and Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and other government officials, were on ground to welcome the girls back to the country.
Speaking on their return with journalists, Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa said that the Chief of Defence Staff, Nigerian Air Force, NAPTIP, and other relevant government agencies assisted in the rescue operation.
She stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had given a directive to evacuate and rehabilitate any Nigerian stranded outside the country.
Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa revealed that there are still several more Nigerians stranded in Mali and other parts of the world, but vowed to rescue them.
She explained that Monday’s returnees were tricked into traveling to Mali in pursuit of economic opportunities.
“They were deceived into embarking on the journey. We will ensure we train them to the state of proficiency in different vocations, after which we will trace their parents and counsel them,” Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa said. The NAPTIP has been tasked with rehabilitating the victims, she added.
“We will monitor the girls for two years so they do not sell their vocational equipment. It goes beyond poverty for them to embark on such a mission. The government had to rescue them because they sent a distress call. This made Buhari direct the service chiefs to wade into the matter to rescue the girls.”
While commending the officials who facilitated the girls’ release, Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa called on international non-governmental organizations to assist the Nigerian government in fighting human trafficking.
Earlier, we reported of the singer cum actor’s Lekki house being set on fire – he has now, on his Instagram shared what happened and how he’s grateful to be alive.
He shared the photo above with the caption:
So there’s good news and bad news. The good news is… I’m thanking God that I’m alive to give the bad news as a testimony.
Bad news is…
I was laying awake in bed at about 6am , and I just started smelling smoke. Stood up to shut off my tv and ac and realized it was coming from outside my door. Opened it to see the whole stairway was filled with huge gusts of black smoke/soot, and a fire was burning stuff downstairs. The smoke was so much I couldn’t get down past it to see the source of the flames. Rushed back into my room and climbed down from the 2nd floor balcony with my dog… and then got help from the amazing workers and neighbours who helped me put out the flames.
Turns out the ac in the living room had caught fire.. I know a lot of ppl have been trying to call and I appreciate it. Maybe the fire burnt some of the network in the house because I can’t receive calls LOL ?, but instead of calling to say sorry pls just maybe say a prayer and thank God with me.
Thank God I was awake to smell the smoke. Thank God we caught it early enough and the damage wasn’t so bad.. it basically burnt some of the stuff that was around it. So awards, portraits, and some small electronics. But thank God, Duke and I are alive and well. We only had to form James Bond and climb down from the top floor balcony LOL ?? Thank God for my neighbors and the amazing workers in and around the compound for helping us escape via the balcony, helping put out the fire, and helping with the aftermath/cleaning.
Thank God for life. And I’m not even upset.. I’m just grateful for life and health and for the grace and mercy of God on my life. I figure I’m about to have the best year ever so the devil tried to throw a tantrum. But not today Satan. Not today, not ever. Now sit back and watch me be great. By God’s grace. Amen. God bless you all.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has said that Nigeria ranks the second largest number of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in the whole world with over three (3) million Nigerians living with the virus.
Africa’s Bureau Chief of AHF, Dr. Penninah Lutung, who disclosed this in an interview in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, said West Africa ranked lowest in the prevalence rate of the virus in the Africa continent.
His words,
“The prevalence of HIV is highest in the South Africa region where it is about 10 percent and South Africa has 18 percent followed by the East Africa bloc where prevalence rate is between 5 and 8 percent but West Africa overall has the lowest prevalence rate while Nigeria has about 3.4 percent.
But Nigeria is a large country such that 3.4 percent in actual number means that about 3 million people are living with HIV in the country. In the whole world, Nigeria has the second largest number of people living with HIV.”
Lutung however said the AHF’s vision of global AIDS control, the epidemic can be controlled if new infections are reduced drastically through the current number of strategies and modules being used as combination prevention.

The Presidency on Monday have faulted the ongoing comparison between President Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
Since Osinbajo became Acting President on the 19th of last month and the subsequent improvement of the naira against the dollar, and the new peace in the Niger Delta region among other achievements, many reports have claimed that the VP was doing better as Acting President than Buhari.
But speaking with State House correspondents, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Femi Ojudu, said that it is one government and that what Nigerians are seeing now are results of the policies introduced by the government.
He said:
“I think it is thoughtless. I also see it as a ploy by the opposition to cause an unnecessary division. It is joint ticket, the president and the vice president were elected based on the manifesto of the party and since they were sworn-in they have been committed to implementing that manifesto.
“The same people who said we never had economic team, no policy, nothing are the ones saying this. It is now that the policies we are implementing are maturing and they are seeing the result. It is not a question of one person being better than the other person.
“I will give you an example; there is nothing that has been done since the vice president started acting that is not something that started far back in the past. A good example is the Niger Delta initiative. The President called the Vice President and said I am giving you the mandate, go into the Niger Delta meet with everyone who is a stakeholder, all the communities, talk to the militants and make sure you solve this problem for the benefits of Nigerians.
“We are losing 1.2 million barrels of oil per day; all the gas pipelines powering the turbines are being blown up. And the President has said unless and until we resolve this problem we will not get out of recession. The Vice President took up the mandate and went to the Niger Delta, it is the initiative of Mr. President not that of Vice President.
“This is mischief makers, those who do not wish this country well, who are always promoting crisis, who will not allow the people to benefit from this democracy, are the ones promoting this kind of divisive tendencies.” he added
Stressing that the Acting President has been consulting the President in London, he said:
“Almost on a daily basis, yes. Well, there are things he still needs to consult the President, I mean it’s not a regular thing but major decisions he still has to consult Mr. President. The president is still the president.”
He insisted that Buhari is still in charge even on medical vacation.
“He is in charge but li
ke I said earlier on, this is a joint ticket the president of Nigeria remains the president of Nigeria. He is acting because it is one government and the same. He is more experienced, he has been in the game longer than the vice president and if there are major issues that he needs to take decision on, he could call on him and say Sir, what do you think about this we are about to take decision on it, do you have opinion? That does not mean he is not in charge.” he said
He went on:
“Again, one other thing you have to see is that if you give someone a responsibility, he must be able to show to Mr. President that despite that he is not around, it is not going to create any vacuum. He can then decide not to sleep at all, all through the time the president is away just to show him that he is capable of ensuring that Nigeria goes on well while he is away.
“And the President could also have given the mandate let nothing go wrong; I believe in you, I appointed you as my Vice President you must make sure that you do this. If you have a boss who gives you an assignment you will want to impress him and Nigerians as well and that for me is what has happened. It is not that one person is better than the other, certainly not.”
According to him, those reports were aimed at causing division in the Presidency. He stressed that the Presidency will not allow those behind the reports to succeed.
“I’m telling you that I have seen some things sent out intentionally to cause some kind of division within the presidency. Some people who have been condemning everybody in the past, I see them on twitter and on Facebook and generally on social media. Some people are trying to promote division and we are not going to allow that.
“This president and vice president worked together in tandem and I know they both have confidence in this nation,” he said.
He also called on the media to be vigilant and watch what it picks as news from the social media. Reacting to some clerics in Katsina State claiming that the president was poisoned, he said:
“The way I will react to that is that those of you in the media should be careful what you pick from the social media now, it is becoming factory for fake news in the Nigeria.
“A lot of things you see on social media can never be true. I saw that, I read it and I assessed it using the prison of these factors, those indicies we use to analysis stories in the media and found out that, that it cannot be true. For example they said somebody kept N77 trillion somewhere, imagine that. What is the total value of Nigeria’s economy that because of somebody keeping N77 trillion therefore some people want to poison him so that they can inherit the money.
“I mean we have a president that nobody in this country can question his integrity. As a young officer, a middle officer, a senior officer and as a head of state till now, nobody has been able to tarnish his image or come up with anything.
“For me it is not even worth responding to, as soon as I read it I dismissed it, it is so ridiculous. Again it is the handiwork of our enemies, the problem is fakeness has almost become global and universal, other countries are experiencing it. Those who want to distabilise the country they come up with all kinds of stupid stories, some kind of unimaginable stories so we should just discountenance those things,” he stated.

Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner disclosed that a notorious armed robber/kidnapper identified as one Tochukwu Ugwunsi aka ‘Cobra No Dey Sleep‘ who has been on the Police Wanted list was arrested following the joint efforts of the Police, Vigilante men and community.
The suspect was arrested in the course robbing people of Ogechi Community while two of the gang members identified as Chidera and Emeka escaped. Man-hunt of the fleeing suspects is intensified.
In another development, a 56-year-old Ebu Onwuka of Amanta village was arrested on Thursday, February 23, in a forest situated at Abiriba, for the murder of one Anya Okum, 56, of same address whom he recently had a misunderstanding over a parcel of land. Nigerian music mogul, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, on Monday, February the 27th, presented a cheque of N3.5million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lagos.
Speaking at the presentation, the mogul said that he was particularly touched when he visited camps of the Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) in the North-East.
He called on other well-meaning Nigerians to come all out and support the International organisation in its effort at protecting the millions of Nigerians in the various camps.
“The conditions I met the internally displaced persons, when I visited their various camps were terrible. They were really terrible,” he said.
“The 2Face Foundation has, therefore, decided to enter into partnership with the UNHCR to see how we can help put smiles on the faces of these persons. My foundation is today presenting this cheque to the UNHCR to support it in its operations of alleviating the sufferings of these IDPs,” he added.
In her remark, the UNHCR’s Acting Country Representative to Nigeria, Ms Brigitte Mukango-Eno, commended 2Face for the humanitarian gesture, adding that her Agency currently needed public support for its operations in the North East.
Mukango-Eno, who was represented UNHCR’s External and Donor Relations Officer, Mr Hanson Tamfu, said that the activities of Boko Haram in the North- East had overstretched the agency’s financial base.
“We sincerely want to express the gratitude of the UNHCR to 2Face. This is a right step toward our private sector following. Over these years, it has become important for us, as an organisation, to depend on the private sector, for us to be able to meet our responsibilities.
2Face has scored a very important goal by discovering the UNHCR Office within the UN system. We want to use this opportunity to appeal to other private Nigerians and philanthropists to emulate this gesture by the 2Face Foundation in alleviating the conditions of the IDPs in the North East,” she said.
Ex Big Brother Naija housemate, Gifty and her alleged boo, Nigerian singer, Mr 2kay were both spotted together at the Lagos Polo club yesterday.
The sight of the two of them together could be either of many things though… whether the pair are still dating, or they’re just hanging out as friends or whatever… See another photo below:
President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, has said that the Igbo people are in grave danger in the country. Nwodo also called for prayers for the Igbo people to change the situation and challenges faced by them.
Nwodo was quoted to have spoken, during the weekend, at a church service in his honour by the Knights of St. John at St. Mulumba Catholic Church in New Haven, Enugu.
Nwodo said it was important that other ethnic groups understand the peculiarity of challenges faced by the Igbo.
He said:
“I dedicate myself completely to all the supplication as offered in the Mass. I ask Ndigbo wherever they are to pray collectively for all of us.”
We are in dire straight, we are in very grave situation. I also ask that we pray for other Nigerians to understand our peculiar circumstances, understand our case and give us once more a hand of fellowship in a united Nigeria,” Nwodo said.
Also speaking at the event, President of the Commandery services of the New Haven Gilbert Obu said Nwodo is a member of Commandery. He said the Commandary have decided to honour him for this reason.
“We thank God for Ohanaeze for our checkered history,” Obu said.
“We know that this is a man whom God has groomed like David in the Bible. We know that he will take Igbo to higher heights. What he needs is prayers and support every Igboman can give him.
“We expect so much from him in Nigeria contest, as you can see Igbo have not gotten anything now. All the commanders of armed forces, the police, there is no Igboman.
So, we want to make an impact for Nigerians to know that Igbo are here to stay because we are part of Nigeria. We should be given the right position,” he said.
