Ghanaian actor Majid Michel’s experience on the set of his first epic movie, Ayamma, which was shot recently somewhere in Akwa Ibom State, has left a sweet-sour taste in his mouth.
The actor, in an interview with Punch correspondent in Lagos, described the experience as very challenging. He said,
“Leaving home to a very distant land to shoot a movie in a forest full of insects and darkness was quite challenging for me. We didn’t put on tops while the shooting lasted.
Even if we did, it still would not have prevented all kinds of insects — not just mosquitoes — from biting our faces, bare feet and hands.”
The experience also exposed the religious part of the award-winning actor, which many movie fans had never known. Asked if he learnt any lesson from his stint in the ‘forest’, he replied, “I have just realised that the authority of Jesus Christ must be asserted in every culture and tradition.
I believe that Jesus came to purge these cultures and to take them away. Also, He came to take away our traditions and to replace them with His kingdom on earth. I believe that the real culture is the way of God.”
Majid’s statement, no doubt, contrasts sharply with his image on the screen as a male sex symbol.

A school teacher, Enilolobo Olamilekan at the Agbokunloko College, in Ikotun Lagos State, yesterday denied defiling a 12-year-old student, insisting that he only put his penis in her mouth.
Olamilekan, who hails from Lagos State, admitted to have lured the girl to his parent’s apartment, where he took advantage of the 12-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 student.
While paraded by the Police yesterday, 20-year-old teacher, Enilolobo Olamilekan, told newsmen:
“I usually teach the victim and two others after school hours at Ikotun. When the girl was brought to my place, I said they should buy a notebook for her, but her parents did not.
Last Wednesday, I gave her an assignment, but she did not do it. When she came to me on Thursday during school period, I asked of the notebook, she said her mother did not give her the money. I told her to go to JSS one class and join the other two girls; that I would soon be with them.
“When I was done with my classes, I joined them there and taught them for the day. My house is not far from the school.
My mum called me to come home and do the dishes. “I told the girl to go with me, that I would buy the notebook for her at a woman’s shop near my house. She went with me; I bought the book for her and she said she was hungry. I bought biscuit for her and as I was about to go, the woman said I should bring her bottle which had been with me. I told her I would bring it later, but she refused.
She said the victim should go with me to the house, so that I would give her the bottle. That was how the girl went with me to the house. “I took her inside our parlour. I put her on the chair and put my manhood in her mouth.
I did not touch her private part. They have done a test and confirmed I did not touch her there. She did not cry and she did not complain. But she went home and reported to her parents.
“I only put my male organ inside the mouth of the girl. I did not rape her. I just do not know what got into me. However, I’m ready to face the consequences of my action. I know I have committed a crime and I’m guilty.Whatever is my punishment; I’ll face it and hope God would have mercy on me. I have never done something like this before. I do not have a girlfriend”

A press briefing scheduled for Wednesday for Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, to state her own version of a sex scandal rocking her could not hold.
The briefing scheduled for 10am at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State council, in Awka, ended abruptly following information that some gunmen would attack the secretariat.
Miss Chidinma Okeke, was the winner of the 2015 Most Beautiful Girl in Anambra pageant competition.

Month Old Baby Abandoned In Abuja Over Outrageous Bill. (Photos)
A 25-year old woman who has been identified simply as Tony Okiemute, reportedly abandoned a month-old-baby in St. George’s Specialist Clinic and Maternity over her inability to pay for her medical bills in Warri, Delta State, Daily Post reports.
Administrative Manager of St. George’s Specialist Clinic & Maternity, Mr. Sunny Ebone made this known while rushing the baby girl in company of some Social Welfare Officers to the police “B” Division in Warri to get police extract yesterday.
Mr. Ebone hinted that the woman delivered a set of twin, a boy and a girl on October 5 through cesarean operation when she was rushed on emergency to the hospital. He also noted that the woman lost the baby boy while the girl survived.
He noted that all efforts to trace and track the woman who claimed to be resident of Ekakoto Street in Orhunwhorhun Community in Udu Local Government were unsuccessful as before he decided to take the child to the police station.
Meanwhile it was gathered that the lady was given a bill of N125,000 which she could not afford.
Pained by the development, the Divisional Police Officer, “B” Division CSP Anieteh Eyoh who declined comments on the matter ordered his men to track the parents of the abandoned baby in order to save the child.

Lagos Housewife Brutalizes 12 Year Old Girl For Stealing Meat. (Photo)
A 12-year-old girl, identified as Mmesoma Ani, has reportedly been admitted to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Surulere, after she was allegedly tortured by her aunt, Mrs. Ogechi Iruwane.
A report by Punch Metro reveals that the mother of three allegedly used her bare hands to pinch off the victim’s chest, and inflicted injuries on her back. Ani was also said to have been starved for two days for allegedly stealing a piece of meat.
It was learnt that a trader on Nurudeen Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos State, where the incident happened, raised the alarm on Tuesday. The case was said to have been reported to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender.
Officials of the agency reportedly apprehended the suspect and subsequently handed her over to the police at the Orile Iganmu division. The victim was afterwards taken to LUTH.
The trader, who discovered the incident, said Ani returned an empty bottle of soft drink to her when she saw her injuries.
She said,
“I observed that she was not walking well. I drew closer to her and that was when I saw that her hands were also swollen. She said her aunt flogged her. She showed me her chest and I saw that the skin covering one of her maturing breasts had been pinched off. She removed her clothes and I was alarmed when I saw serious injuries on her back.”
The trader, whose name is protected for security reason, explained that she called the attention of passersby to the injuries.
“I wanted to take her back to the aunt to ask why she battered the girl so badly without taking her to a hospital, but her neighbours told me it was not the first time she would beat her. I decided to report the matter to the OPD,” she added.
A source at the OPD said the residents prevented the suspect from escaping when she went to find out why Ani had not returned home from the errand she sent her.
He said,
“The girl claimed she was 12 years old, even though she looked younger. She also looked malnourished. There were different scars on her back. The irony is that the suspect has three children and they look well-fed.
The girl claimed that she is the 11th of 12 children. She said the woman came to take her from her parents in Enugu State in December 2015. She said she was in primary three before she was brought to Lagos, but since her arrival, she had not been going to school. She said the woman accused her of stealing a piece of meat and for about two days, she was not given food to eat.”
The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Salami Olubukola, commended the trader that reported the case, urging residents of the state to always be on the watch for child abuse cases.
“The girl is now in our care. We will not relent in our efforts to stem the tide of child abuse in Lagos State,” she added.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter would soon be charged to court.

Man Rapes 14 Year Old Girl To Coma After Taking “Man Power” In Kaduna.
The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a 32 year-old man, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old to coma.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Aliyu Usman, who made this disclosure to newsmen on Wednesday said the suspect, Hamza Abdullahi, who resides in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of the state reportedly lured Faiza Salisu (14), to his room which is opposite the family house of the said victim where he had carnal knowledge of her.
It was gathered that the suspect before the incident took some sex enhancement drugs and in the process kept having sex with the victim until she collapsed.
When he sensed that the teenager was unconscious, the suspect quickly called a Tricycle driver to help in taking the victim to a bush closer to the house where he intended to dump her.
Luck, however, ran out on him when a relation of the victim saw her being carried into the tricycle.
She raised alarm which attracted passers-by. After seeing the condition of the victim, they descended on Hamza Abdullahi. The suspect was saved by men from Rigasa Police Divisional office, who took him away.
Speaking to the media at the police command, the suspect agreed to have had carnal knowledge of Faiza Salisu (victim), but said it was with her consent because he promised to reward her financially.
Hamza, who refuted the allegation that he took some sex enhancement drugs, said he only took ‘man power’ sold by some women around the area.
The PPRO said investigation was still on, adding that the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.
Patience Jonathan Seeks N200m Damages For Seized $15m.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed December 7, 2016 to hear the N200m fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Skye Bank Plc to challenge the freezing of four bank accounts containing $15m, Punch reports.
The EFCC placed a ‘No Debit Order’ on the four accounts opened in the name of four companies which were linked to a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa.
The EFCC froze the four bank accounts on July 7, 2016 in the course of investigating Dudafa for money laundering. But Patience had sued the EFCC and Skye Bank claiming the ownership of the $15m found in the four bank accounts.
The matter came up for the first time before Justice Babs Kuewumi on Wednesday.
At the hearing, Patience’s lawyer, Mr. Granville Abibo (SAN), applied to discontinue the earlier motion filed by his client for the purpose of amending it.
Justice Kuewumi granted the application and struck out the motion. Abibo then informed the court that he had filed and served a new motion on the defendants.
But the EFCC lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, said the suit was not ripe for hearing. Abibo then urged the court to restrain the EFCC from tampering with the $15m in the frozen accounts pending the determination of the suit.
He said despite being served with court processes, the EFCC was still making moves that could overreach the court.
But Oyedepo urged the court to discountenance Abibo’s submission, saying that the accounts had long been frozen before Patience filed the suit and so the issue of interference with the accounts did not arise.
After listening to the parties, Justice Kuewumi adjourned till December 7, 2016 for the hearing of the case.
Patience is urging the court to compel the EFCC to immediately remove the ‘No Debit Order’ placed on the four bank accounts in question.
She also wants the court to order Skye Bank to pay her damages in the sum of N200m for what she termed a violation of her right to own personal property under Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution.
Filed in support of the suit was an affidavit deposed to by one Sammie Somiari. Somiari said it was Dudafa who helped Patience to open the four bank accounts which the EFCC froze.
According to him, Dudafa had on March 22, 2010 brought two Skye Bank officers, Demola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi, to meet Patience at home to open five accounts.
He, however, claimed that after the five accounts were opened, Patience later discovered that Dudafa opened only one of the accounts in her name while the other four were opened in the names of companies belonging to Dudafa.
The four companies, whose accounts have now been frozen and which have also been charged with money laundering along with Dudafa, are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited.
“Am Like Jesus, They Are After Me Because They Have Seen My Tomorrow” – Fayose says
Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose has debunked the claim by former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, that he gave him (Fayose) part of the money he got from ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Fayose said the claim by Obanikoro, who is currently in EFCC custody, that he collected some money from him, was a clear indication that he was drowning and looking for someone to go down with him.
Speaking with Sun, Fayose said despite the myraids of allegations leveled against him, he would come out pure.
He compared his current situation to the Biblical Jesus, who despite many trials, came out victorious.
He said, “I wouldn’t want to join issues with EFCC or Obanikoro. But I remembered very well that Obanikoro was firing very serious salvos at the EFCC before now.
“I remembered all his statements in the press, but this dramatic return, he did not stop at the airport and there was a clear entrance straight to the EFCC custody; it simply shows that there is a hand of Saul in the voice of Jacob.
“I’m used to all these conspiracies and the fact remains that in all these, Jesus is Lord, in all these, victory is sure, in all these, I’ve not lost any battle and I’ll not lose any. Let me believe that Obanikoro did not say all these because whatever you say, you would have to prove it in court.
“It is not enough to just say it. If he’s saying all these to get out of trouble, it is just a drama of the moment. I know he is looking for ways out of the quagmire as his house was seized, his bank accounts were frozen and all that. May be, my brother and friend, Obanikoro is looking for easy way out so they have to heap everything on Fayose.
“I’m used to all these. In the meantime, I am busy as governor of Ekiti delivering good governance to my people. What they wanted during their conspiracy at my first tenure was to stop me politically forever.
They didn’t want me to rise politically again; that was what all the first poultry allegation with EFCC in 2006 is all about but I won.
“Today, I can adjudge what would happen tomorrow by the victory of yesterday. So, their fear is my rising profile: their fear is – where is this Fayose going?
“Don’t you forget that in the Bible, the three wise men who came to greet Jesus Christ and who saw tomorrow about Jesus Christ just as the then King Herod too, saw tomorrow about Jesus Christ and he told the wise men to come back to him and reveal where Jesus was so that he could go and kill him.
“But the wise men didn’t go back that way. So, they saw my tomorrow and knew that I was rising. I’m going to be among those people that would take over from them. I have a future, I have greatness ahead of me and no greatness comes without a battle and struggle.
“So, they should keep their gun powder dry, behave like a responsible organization whose strength is in their coded investigation. They should stop messing themselves up. You see, nobody knows what would be the situation in two years time, but when we get to the bride, we would cross it.
“Again, if Obanikoro says he gave me such huge money, where did he get it from? Why will he take such huge cash like that? Why will an honourable federal minister of the country be saying that he took cash like this and gave to me?
“You can now see how EFCC operates, but we will talk about that when we get to court. They are only looking for ways for nexus, to link me at all cost, to destroy me at all cost.
‘It is just like in the Bible when they asked the people should we replace the thief with Jesus for the punishment but the people said no, it is Jesus we want.
“So, it’s Fayose that is all they want in all these drama, I hope that by now, they would have released all Obanikoro’s confiscated assets and property.”

According to an article written by one Arthur Chatora for This Is Africa website, the boy, said to be called Jake, was shot by a Ghanaian artiste by name Solomon Adufah who was at the time having an arts workshop with a group of children in Ghana.
If you had ever wondered about the origin of the famous meme of a young African boy seated at a desk, with a pensive look on his face, frantically writing on a piece of paper, your search is finally over.
Jake’s photo is currently amongst one of the continent’s most famous and widely shared memes due to its nature.
The most popular meme from this picture is the one where they portray Jake as one who reminds many of a mean class captain who was always ready to issue out names of his colleagues to be punished.
The Ghanaian artist behind the photo, Solomon Adufah shared the picture on Instagram in January as part of the artist’s ‘homeland series’ where he travels to various African countries to help underprivileged children in local communities, providing them with resources and teaching creative studies workshops.
“Jake was one of the children I taught in Ghana. He was always gentle and quiet.. Ever present in class and was eager to learn everyday. That’s what I loved about all the children. Their enthusiasm and high spirit was refreshing and encouraged me to continue helping them,” Adufar noted.

Victim of gas explosion, Chinenye Benjamin says thank you to her donors, releases new pictures
In June, 2016, 21-yr-old Chinenye ‘Desire’ Benjamin fell victim of an indoor gas explosion. While helping her raise funds, then, Blossom Emechebe, an OAP, said the explosion occurred while Benjamin was trying to light up her gas cylinder.
She was subsequently admitted to the burns section of the Gbagada general hospital, Lagos.

My grandmother is turning 78 years old next month. Earlier this year, she fell really sick, and once she recovered, it made us realize that as many memories as we had with her, we haven’t done anything recently to honor her nor did we have a nice picture to remember her by.
She is after all the only living grandparent that we have left on this earth. One night as I was sleeping, I woke up with this vivid vision of a way to honor her. You see, my grandmother is half Ghanaian and half Nigerian.
I figured since she has 4 generations of her extension existing on this earth, why not show her just how blessed she has been and just how much we appreciate her for being the rock of our family.
We would dress up in traditional Ghanaian kente clothes and traditional Nigerian (Igbo) fabric akwete and do a photoshoot which will be framed and presented to her on her birthday on November 26th. It was a lot of hard work planning it and finally executing it, but we pulled it off.
Through these pictures, we were able to capture Herself, One of her Daughters, Her Grandkids, and her Great Grandkids. We intentionally did not include the husbands and the dads in the pictures because 1. They’re not too fond of pictures, and 2. We wanted to keep it to my grandmother and her direct extensions. We blessed her with a one of a kind, original photo shoot that hasn’t been done before.

Naira Now ₦460 To Dollar In Blackmarket
The naira hit its weakest level on the black market in more than a week at 460 to the dollar on Wednesday, as a central bank move to channel dollars to retail currency outlets failed to ease liquidity shortages, traders said.
The unit had been quoted at 455 since Oct. 17 before weakening on Wednesday, they said. On the official market, the naira ended at 305.50 per dollar, a level it has closed at for more than two months, supported by central bank interventions.
The naira had been relatively stable on the black market after the bank asked international money transfer firms to sell dollars directly to bureau de change operators to boost liquidity and narrow the gulf with the official market.
The directive was initially effective, traders said, but its impact has been limited due to few dollars coming into Nigeria.
According to Reuters, one trader told the news portal that “What we get from Travelex is not sufficient,” referring to demand in the market.
International money trasfer firm, Travelex, sells around $15,000 to 1,000 retail currency outlets weekly, but the amount is a fraction of what is required to cover demand from individuals and small businesses.
Dollar shortages have caused many firms to halt operations and lay off workers, compounding an economic crisis exacerbated by the fall in global prices for oil, which accounts for 70 percent of Nigeria’s budget revenue.
The central bank has struggled to support the local currency as its dollar reserves have continued to fall. Traders say the naira has been testing new lows as they try to find thresholds where liquidity can begin to return.

Eiye Cult Leader Gruesomely Killed in Bloody Clash in Lagos
There was pandemonium in Abesan Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja in the Alimosho axis of Lagos yesterday, Tuesday, October 25, 2016, after suspected cultists wreaked havoc in the area.
During the attack, a man identified simply as Bebo, was butchered in cold blood leading to his death on the spot.
Presently, shops in the area are currently locked for fear of a reprisal attack in the community. Inside Mainland gathered from a source that residents were thrown into confusion when the cultists stormed the area on motorcycles. The gang, according to reports had been on the trail of Bebo before he was cornered at the spot where he was murdered.
The source who craved anonymity disclosed that “he is popularly known as Bebo in the area. He visited a pharmacy to get drugs before he was hit unaware. The guys who attacked him outnumbered him and he couldn’t escape the scene.”
It was gathered that Bebo was formerly a student of the University of Lagos before he dropped out. A source revealed that “He is feared in the area because he is a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He was the second in command while at Unilag and also held the same position in Abesan before he was killed yesterday night.”
Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said that “he was killed at Greenland Bus stop after stepping out of the drug store. The cultists blocked him while he tried to run and immediately took turns in inflicting cuts on him before he died.”
When asked if security operatives have visited the scene, the source told a correspondent that “Police officers were around yesterday after the incident but no arrests were made. Presently, the area is deserted and there is no security presence.”
