Ivory Coast professor Honore Kahi, who was pictured carrying a student’s baby on his back in class said being a mother should not stop women getting an education, BBC reports.
Prof. Kahi said he offered to take the baby because he was crying and preventing the mother from sitting in class. He said his students were surprised, began to laugh and then took pictures.
Some of those who shared the photos on social media showered him with praises, describing him as a hero. Mr Kahi, who teaches communications at Ivory Coast’s Bouake University, said that women should not be discouraged by people’s perceptions of what they should be able to do.
“What prevails here is… male chauvinism, he said. and then quoted an ancient philosopher in his interview with BBC Afrique. “It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare. It is because we do not dare that they are difficult.’ In our environment we let ourselves be discouraged by others.”
He said that when he took the baby and tied him on his back he stopped crying and fell asleep, adding that he learned how to do it by observing how women carry their children.
“In fact, men are able to do certain things, and usually it’s the way society sees men that prevents them from doing these things.”

Mark Angel talks on little Emmanuella, comedy biz
Mark Angel Comedy has taking over the airwaves with their hilarious comedy skits which always go viral. NAIJ.com spoke with ‘Uncle Mark’ as little Emmanuella always refers to Mark Angel.
He spoke on how he discovered the little Emmanuella, how the comedy is affecting little her education and how he abandoned a promising career in medical line for comedy.

How did you come about your style of comedy?
I hardly can categorize our kind of comedy. All I can say is that we found the need to create African comic materials that families can relate with and enjoy.
How will you describe your kind of comedy?
Without fear of sounding naive, I really can’t describe our kind of comedy. We just do what would make our friends laugh. It is nothing different from other comedies out there.
Which of your comedy skits brought you to limelight?
I think it was the Landlord skit.

How did you discover Emmanuella?
Emmanuella is one of the kids in our acting school. We discovered her from the foundation.
Why the choice of the environment you use in your comedy skits unlike in Lagos where they go to wealthy areas to shoot their comedy skits?
The thing is; comedy is comedy, as long as you can relate with it and it makes you laugh, it is comedy. In our case, we come from a low live area and we relate very well with the things that happen there that’s why we create our comedies around those areas. It’s our environment.
How old is Emmanuella?
Emanuella is five. She will turn six in July 2016.
What are her parents and friends reaction to her new-found fame?
Her parents are proud of her and love what she is doing.
What class is she in school?
She is in Primary one.
Hope this is not affecting her academics?
It is. Now she works extra to be ahead of her mates and her academic calendar. Let me use this opportunity to thank her Principal Mrs Femi E. Peace and her team for all the hard work they are doing for this little girl.
Emmanuella seems to be getting all the attention; don’t you feel jealous at times that she is taking the shine off you even though you own the comedy skits?
There is no such thing as taking the shine. Our aim is to put her out there, help gain audience in the world mainstream comedy and that’s what we are doing. That’s what we will do for all our comedians by God’s grace.
Give us an insight into your background in comedy, education etc.
I personally don’t have any professional education in comedy. I just love laughing and making my friends laugh too. Talking about academics, I dropped out of medical school some years ago in order to give time to my dream. But as soon as I set course, I will go back to school.
Who is your role model in the industry and who motivated you?
Basketmouth and Kelvin Harts are my biggest role models.
What do you have for your fans as truly speaking you have taken over comedy skits?
I want to say thank you for always being there for us, thank you for sharing our videos, thank you for giving us attention. And to all who are working hard to get heard, just keep working and believing, and praying and trusting God… It works. Meanwhile, I really don’t think we have taken over comedy skits. Not yet, we are too far from taking over. There are too many people in Hollywood doing better until we can compare our material with theirs, we are still starting.

A Chinese man suffered cruel fate in the hands of some angry passengers after he was beaten to a pulp for allegedly stealing a phone on a crowded subway in Beijing, China on Tuesday.
According to CCTV News, it was later found out that the man was innocent owning a phone similar to the one that was stolen.
Being mistaken for a thief, the man was held on the floor and punched in his face while crying and shouting, “Please help me! Call the police!” Many passersby recorded the entire incident, but no one called the police, and only a few pedestrians attempted to help.

So There’s a video going round of The Ooni of Ife singing a Christian Song, declaring Jesus Christ as His Father.
However many Nigerians didn’t have this funny as he is a highly revered Yoruba royal father and they blasted him for his declaration.
The Ooni sang a special number during the recent Father’s Day celebration in a Church Service.
The song he sang had these words: “I have a father and he will never ever fail me…Jesus is my father, he will never fail me, rock of ages, never ever fails…”
The royal father even went on to ask the congregants to join him in singing. His wife, Olori Wuraola was also in the video singing the song..
The video of him singing, seen below, has since gone viral and many Nigerians are of the opinion that the Ooni cannot possibly mean what he is saying since he is supposed to declare for Oduduwa according to Yoruba customs.
Some have argued that since he is the custodian of the Yoruba culture and tradition, which includes the deities, he cannot be a Christian.
Others say, even if he is a Christian, cannot go deep to a point of declaring Jesus as his Father.
All hell was let loose in Maryland, Lagos, yesterday when a hawker was crushed by a truck. His colleagues went wild, destroying about 47 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses belonging to Primero Transport Service Ltd and several others owned by LAGBUS Asset Management.
The debris of the buses filled the road from Maryland to Obanikoro. Eyewitnesses said the eyeglasses hawker was trying to evade arrest by Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials when he ran into the truck’s path.
The accident, which happened around 1.15pm, caused a traffic gridlock, which stretched from the Maryland Independence Tunnel to Fadeyi.
An eyewitness said:
“KAI officials pursued the guy who tried to run away with his wares, but he was hit by a truck which was on high speed.
But another witness said the hawker ran into a Honda vehicle and was crushed. He said:
“What I saw was a Honda vehicle which was on high speed. It hit the guy when he was running towards the other side of the road and he died immediately while his intestine came out. Immediately the vehicle owner realised he had killed someone, he parked and stepped out to sympathise with the guy’s fellow hawkers but he was later asked to leave as many people reasoned it was not his fault but KAI’s who pursued him to death.”
A mob barricaded both sides of the road, hindering motorists’ movement. The mob, The Nation learnt, chased away the first and second batches of policemen that arrived on the scene.
To escape from the mob, some drivers were said to have abandoned their buses and fled. Others manoeuvred their way out of the mayhem.
Some hawkers told The Nation:
“Those KAI officials are wicked people. Can you imagine how cruel they are? The innocent man had already obeyed them by running away to avoid being punished but they kept chasing him till he was killed by a car. Immediately they saw that the car had knocked him down, they drove off speedily. We are all human beings and we are not happy with the situation. We need to let the government know that we can’t take the injustice. Therefore, venting our anger on the buses is the best way to let them know what they have done is bad. The poor man is gone but we will make sure all the buses that would ply this road today must pay for his death.”
A driver with Primero Transport Service Ltd, Mr Adedeji Adeosun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN):
“I was in traffic for about 20 minutes at Maryland. Then I saw some people running from Maryland and I opened the door to see what was happening. I heard shouts from people that we should come down, so, I immediately removed my uniform. I saw about 100 of the hoodlums otherwise called ‘area boys’ coming with stones and so I ran away.
“All the passengers on board my bus also came down and ran for dear life. I was hit by a big stone”.
Another driver, Mr Michael Onabolu, said:
“I saw people running and shouting that I should come down from the bus. And all of a sudden, I saw some guys surrounding the buses and asking my passengers and I to come down. Before I knew it, one of them hit the bus with a big stone and I could not move because of the traffic. I was wounded on my hands and my thighs with stones’’.
He said the passenger beside him was also hit by a stone, adding that all the passengers were moved to other buses to continue their journey.
A commuter, Mr Elijah Omotayo, said the mob attacked their driver for not opening the doors. Omotayo, a student, told NAN: “They started throwing stones and one of the stones hit my head”.
Primero Ltd Managing Director Mr Fola Tinubu, expressed displeasure over the incident, saying:
“We don’t know what happened, whatever it is; it is something that has to do with the government or the police. But does that give aggrieved people the right to destroy private property”.
He added:
“People are saying that there are no jobs in Nigeria; we have created over 2,000 jobs in the last six months. Is this the reward we will get for it? We need to start asking ourselves serious questions in this country. They have destroyed over 14 of our buses now. I don’t even know how many they have destroyed now. For what, what did we do? I am angry. I don’t even know where to begin because there is no justification for destroying private property; our service is for the masses. Do you know how many people will be stranded today if we don’t go out to pick them up? How are they going to get home? We do this for the masses. Is this the reward that we will get? This is madness.”
Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) Communications Director Mr Kola Ojelabi told The Nation last night that about 47 BRT buses were destroyed.
This, he said, was more than 10 per cent of the numbers of buses on that route. A combined team of soldiers and policemen restored law and order before traffic started moving again.
They used tyres and big stones to shield the body to ensure free flow of traffic.

Aaron Chervenak, 34, from Los Angeles, married his cellphone at The Little Vegas Chapel in Nevada last month in an attempt to make a point about society’s growing devotion to and reliance on their smartphones.
Aaron said in a video documenting his peculiar wedding.
‘If we’re gonna be honest with ourselves, we connect with our phones on so many emotional levels,’ ‘We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our minds, and to me, that’s also what a relationship is about.’ So in a sense my smartphone has been my longest relationship,’ he added. ‘That’s why I decided to see what it was like to actually marry a phone.’

I didn’t want to share this before, but I just have to, so that we are all aware.
Months ago, Abubakar Usman lost his two eyes to suspected ritualists in Zaria, Kaduna State. The wicked humans used knife and other sharp objects to cut off the innocent four years old boy’s eyes.
Since my recent journalistic focus is on reconstruction and resettlement of the internally displaced persons in the North-East, I didn’t really pay a keen attention to Abu’s case.
Especially when I heard that the Kaduna State government, under the leadership of my friend, Nasir el-Rufai, had risen to the boy’s case– pledging to see to his welfare and education.
A very good friend, recently, raised Abu’s issue with me and insisted I go check on him. My friend is interested in Abu’s education.
“I wanna ensure this boy go to school so he becomes somebody in life,” my friend said.
For weeks, I was calling the Kaduna State Police PRO so I will be able to track Abu in Zaria. The officer wouldn’t pick my calls, neither did he return them. As a journalist, I then used other techniques to locating Abu and his family in Zaria.
I spent some moments with Abu and his family today in Zaria. In the coming week, I should publish a comprehensible report on Abu.
What saddens me? The Kaduna State government hasn’t redeemed its pledge; of taking care of Abu and seeing him through school! Abu has been abandoned! “We were only given N180, 000, and nothing else since then,” Usman, Abu’s father told me.
The good news? Help is on the way for Abu! I won’t leave Zaria until we enrol him in a school I found for him today!

Gospel Tungba crooner, Yinka Ayefele has debunked the claim that he has converted to Islam. Earlier yesterday, the news of the conversion to Islam of the ace singer went viral with fans both home and abroad making calls to find out the veracity of the claim.
A release issued by his Publicist, David Ajiboye said, Ayefele is still a Christian and has no reason whatsoever to renounce his faith and believe.

A man has left a girl totally mortified after convincing her to abandon her boyfriend and follow him to his private jet and she agreed, even lying in the process.

Corby Persin, a YouTube prankster from New York city has pulled an almighty one on an unsuspecting lady. He convinced her to cancel plans with her boyfriend after making her believe he owned a private jet then dumped her on the runway.
It all began when he approached her on the runway, she appeared disinterested but things changed when he mentioned his private jet at which point she agreed to join him and two strangers in a car to the airport to fly to Miami.
Here’s how it happened. While at the station, he asked her what she is doing later that evening she says: ‘I’m actually meeting my boyfriend.’
He says in response: ‘Oh you have a boyfriend? Oh, man. Right I’m going to leave you alone, you have a good night tonight with your boyfriend. Take care.’
But just as they part ways, he calls her back, saying ‘actually one more thing’ and asks her for her Instagram name so they can be ‘friends’.
As she enters her name into his phone, a car pulls up and a man said: ‘Hey Coby. The jet’s leaving in 20 minutes. We have to go.’
Her attitude visibly changes and appears to be impressed as she says: ‘You have a jet?’
Coby says: ‘Yeah, we’re just here on business but we’re going to Miami and then we’re coming back here later because we have a meeting in New York.
‘You want to come? If you want to come, I mean, you said you have something to do or whatever.’
When she asks: ‘Do you really have a jet?’ He invites her to join him – saying she can always go home if she changes her mind.
She appears sold and walks into the car containing two other male strangers – one of whom he introduces as his ‘manager’ and they pretend to talk about big money deals.
Coby says: ‘How big is the deal we’re doing? 1.2 million?…And the cash up front is 200k right?’
They get to the airport and her doubt vanishes when they actually board a plane, at this point she calls her boyfriend to cancel plans.
‘It’s ok. I’m just sick a little bit. I am really in pain so…I cannot make it tonight. I am really sad too. Babe I am so sorry. Love you, bye.’
The joke is on her as Cody still has an ace up his sleeve, he tells her to go out of the plane and take a photo of him from the outside, she complies without suspicion but it was all part of the plan.
He says: ‘You are going to be outside, I’m going to be with my head to the window and just get like a sick pic.’
Once she is outside he tells her to ‘go further back, get the picture’ through the window. Adding: ‘You ready?
Actually I don’t do jet diggers, you’re not coming in my jet. Get her off. She’s not supposed to be here…I don’t know her..’
She gets escorted away off the tarmac by airport staff and he says to the camera, laughing: ‘She cancelled on her boyfriend to come on the jet. She’s not coming in.’
