The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), has released Nigerian musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’banj, after being detained for three days.
Recall the singer was detained on Tuesday night December 6, when he appeared before the commission to respond to inquiries about his alleged role in the fraudulent diverting of funds intended for the N-Power project, an empowerment initiative launched by the Nigerian government in 2016 to combat youth unemployment and advance social development.
The ICPC had released a statement earlier to clear the air that the singer was not under arrest and was only invited for questioning.
After three days of interrogation, he was released today, December 9.
The singer’s attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi, confirmed his release saying he was let go on self-recognition but didn’t confirm if he was on administrative bail.
He said;
“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him”
He gave this advise while reacting to a trending loved-up video of the celebrity couple swooning over each other.
Though the video has elicited heartwarming responses from netizens who gushed over the couple, actor Osagie Elegbe had a different view and warned them against flaunting their love on social media.
He said they are making a grave mistake by sharing their loved-up moments on the internet because not everyone wish them well.
“Another error, showing how much you love each other on SM is not desirable, there are others waiting to tear it apart. Learn from others who are already eaten their bitter pie”, he wrote.
Sophia Momodu, the mother of singer Davido’s first child, Imade Adeleke, has taken to Twitter to school people who connect everything a woman does to her ex-lover.
In a series of tweets she posted on Thursday, December 8, where she listed things that should be normalized in our society, Sophia told people to stop attributing everything a woman does or post on social media to a man she was associated with in the past.
She added that people should stop projecting their insecurities on couples who are not married to each other but share a child together.
“Gentility oo she stupidity #LetsAllBeGuided“, she wrote in conclusion.
The mother of one seemed to be addressing people who think she’s throwing shades at her baby daddy, Davido, who recently got married to the love of his life, Chioma, whenever she posts online.
Read her tweets below,
“It’s ok to watch a sermon & tweet whatever resonates with your spirit without it being about anyone.. #NormalizeIt
It’s ok for a woman to decide to carry on with her life without every single thing she does trickling down to an ex.. #NormalizeThis

I believe people should be checked into mental institutions for speaking so confidently on people they don’t know personally, just because you see them on tv or on social media doesn’t mean you know them. If you’re not speaking kind words.. don’t speak at all.
If you dislike a person so intensely because a faceless blogger told you so.. you need to check yourself into a mental institute ASAP!”
Nigerian music executive, Tunji Balogun, better known as Teebillz, has taken to social media to celebrate veteran Nigerian singer D’banj.
Sharing a photo of the singer on his Instagram page, Teebillz attributed the success and global acceptance of Afrobeats to him.
According to Teebillz, D’banj is the reason people believed in Afrobeats, and they claim he solidified it internationally for the world to pay attention to.
He said D’banj made many Nigerians in diaspora, including himself, return to Nigeria and also gave hope to kids from the ghetto.
“Bonafide hustler! He’s the reason we all believed in Afrobeats and he solidified it internationally for THE WORLD to pay attention!!! the reason everyone is benefiting from it today. Former presidential aide and author, Reno Omokri has averred that there’s no Nigerian that needs more than N100k cash weekly.
He stated this via his Twitter handle on Thursday, December 8, while speaking in support of the newly imposed cash withdrawal limit by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Recall that CBN restricted the cash withdrawal limit over-the-counter (OTC) to a maximum of N100,000 cash per week for individuals and N500,000 cash per week for corporate bodies.
The policy was, however, met with mixed reactions as some people criticized it, while others spoke in favour of it.
Reacting to the criticisms, Reno asserted that the outrage is baseless because there’s no Nigerian that needs more than N100k cash weekly.
According to him, other than paying for transport fare and shopping for groceries, every other transaction can be done cashless.
He tweeted;
“There is no Nigerian that needs more than ?100k cash weekly. Other than paying bus conductor or buying groceries, everything can be done cashless. It is kidnappers, bandits and sexual bandits (urgent 2k girls) who are fighting this policy using political godfathers”
Social media commentator, Daniel Regha has been heavily criticized online over his comment on singer, Davido’s scheduled performance at the closing ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
It was earlier reported that Davido, who has stayed away from social media and events aside from his uncle, Ademola Adeleke’s inauguration ceremony, since the death of his son, Ifeanyi, had confirmed that he will be performing in Qatar.
He was supposed to perform at the opening ceremony a few weeks ago but couldn’t honor the invitation because of the tragic demise of his son.
He will now be performing alongside other globally recognized musicians at the closing ceremony on December 18, 2022.
Reacting to this development, Regha said that Davido should have declined the invite, especially since he postponed his music festival “AWAY” till next year.
“Davido will be performing at the World Cup closing ceremony (reportedly), glad he’s feeling better but I d¤n’t think that’s a smart decision since he already postponed his A.W.A.Y festival by one year; He should stand by his decision & decl!ne any offer till next yr. No offense.” He wrote.
His comment was not well received by Nigerians on the platform, and they didn’t hesitate to drag him into filth. See some comments as you scroll.

The thespian said the moment they got close and realized she’s nothing like them they became bitter towards her.
Referring to them as fake, she warned all the ladies in the movie industry to stay away from her.

Her words, “Woman, know this, no one was born/ created perfect. It may be hard, but work on your mental health / love your self. Pls. Surgeries won’t keep that man, neither will it solve your insecurities. If its for business, errm ok.i can assure you, it ain’t worth it”.
Veteran gospel singer, Buchi Atuonwu, has revealed one of the conversations he had with his colleague, Sammie Okposo, before the latter passed away.
Buchi, in his first social media post since the death of the singer, shared the conversation he had with him before his demise.
“I’m so glad and grateful to God that I was able to speak these words to him before he departed. God’s trusted warhorse! Weather-beaten, rugged warhorse.’ Those were my first words as we embraced. At that, he flashed a generous smile, his brilliant white teeth, contrasting sharply with his dark (more like black) face.
“God trusts you, Sammie. God trusts you so much. All these secular dealings and places wey you de enter, you have never hidden the name of Jesus. I’ve never heard that you got on any of those platforms and changed your songs. Na so so Jesus Jesus you de shout. You’re a terribly misunderstood person. I know say you waka rough. The last mess wey you mess never smell finish. But na you dem catch, no mean say na you do pass. No lie down where you fall. Get up and move on.” He wrote.
Speaking on why it took him a while to do a post on social media about the late singer, he said,
“Why haven’t you made a post for Sammie since he passed?’ ‘Sammie will not see the post’ has been my answer to this question… several times lately. That’s the exasperating thing about these post-humous posts. They’re not like birthday greetings. We’re not expecting that in a few days, the guy would post a thank-you message appreciating all who took out time to “felicitate with me on the occasion of my passing.”
As the 2023 general election is fast approaching, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said Nigeria needs a deliverer, not a leader
He made this statement on Thursday, December 8, while preaching at the ongoing Shiloh program at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun state.
Bewailing the economic and insecurity crisis in the nation, Bishop Oyedepo reminded Nigerians that in 2015, he warned them that the country was heading for crisis.
He added that Nigerian is in need of a candidate who would deliver them from their sufferings, not a mere leader.
“I think I’m prompted by the spirit we need to pray for this nation. I warned this nation in 2015 that we were heading for crisis and trauma, many were washing their mouth. They are off today.
God does not require consensus to raise a prophet. I saw a nation going down the drain, I cried. There are many prophets of politicians who speak what they want to hear.
I have been very silent. What we need now is not a leader, it is a deliverer,” he said.
He attacked the government during a service in his church recently while reacting to the incessant killings in different states in the country, specifically the terrorist attack on a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state.
According to the clergymen, Nigerians have never suffered like this in our history and this current administration is proof that when the ‘wicked’ rule, the people will mourn.

“Christian women have been sentenced to WAR ROOM for years to pray for cheating men but the moment a Christian man catches his wife cheating. he divorces her. Can’t he pray too? Can’t he bind the demons that want to destroy his home? Or has God stopped hating divorce?” The tweet read.

24-year-old diminutive Ghanaian actor, Yaw Gabo, has addressed those who mock him over his height and stature.
Dabo, who lashed out at his critics, said he is probably more successful than those trolling him.
He added that God has a reason for creating him the way he is because he might not have achieved the amazing feats he has achieved today if he were tall.
Dabo said;
“For those who insult me, maybe I am better than you. If I were in your family and I called you to do something for me, you probably would run to get it done. I would probably send you to get chairs if a funeral came home.
“To the person insulting me, should there be a funeral in your house, the wealthiest person will make you carry the coffin. Look, I always say, before you insult someone, you need to look at yourself before rubbishing them.
“Not everything you see with your eyes; you can talk about. This is advice to netizens who sit behind their phones and laptops to talk trash about other people.
“Not everything you see is as it seems. God had a reason for creating me this way, maybe if I were like you, I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now, but then, since God created me this way, I am better than you.”
Speaking further, Dabo said being a victim of constant mockery and trolling has taught him to watch the way he criticizes other people.
He added;
“I watch my mouth when saying things about other people. The Bible advises that men lock their mouths with padlocks because it could get them in trouble. The mouth can put you in trouble and this may lead you to say something ill about someone and later look for them to apologise but won’t find them.”

Nollywood actor, Charles Awurum has said some veteran thespians like him stopped featuring in every movie due to the low quality of the ones being produced nowadays.
Charles stated this in a recent interview with Punch while speaking on the minimal effort and resources movie producers invest in their movies.
According to him, some filmmakers start shooting a movie with a budget as low as N200,000 which isn’t meant to be.
He also claimed that some actors and actresses pay filmmakers in exchange for a role in their movies because they want to be famous.
Awurum said; ”People just shoot movies anyhow these days. If you do not have enough money to shoot a movie, you stop. You don’t just shoot any movie. This is why most of us, the oldies, no longer partake in every film. With N200,000, some people will move to shoot a film. Actors now pay to partake in movies just for popularity, instead of them to be paid. And where there are no producers or directors that are professionally trained, they just take a space somewhere and they shoot a film.”
He further said he is very picky about the type of movies he acts in which explains why people hardly see him in films. ”I have been shooting but I am not in every film because so many things are happening now. People are just shooting anything, any type of script that comes up. So, I choose what I do”, he said.
Awurum added; ”The industry is growing, most movies we shoot now can stand the test of time. You can match them with that of the white men. We are moving higher and as an actor, if you allow the train to leave you, you should not blame anyone or say you are being segregated. What we are shooting now is no longer what we used to shoot before; if you check the locations of the movies that we are shooting now, you will know that we have gone far. Everything seems to be like that of the western world. So, when you act in movies that will not go anywhere, you do not expect to be applauded. These people eager to be on the screen are not trained, paid, they do everything by themselves and they still pay for it.”
Addressing claims that ailing actors hardly get support from their colleagues in the movie industry, Charles said, ”I do not think the industry is not doing enough to help people. You see, when you are told to be a part of an association, belong to that association. Most of these people you see that are sick and are seeking public funds are not even part of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. We sometimes know of their illnesses very late for those of them that are part of us and we even go about to help them. The AGN is doing very well, there is nobody that is sick now that it does not help. The association even goes out of its way to help people that are not members to ensure that they are treated. They only go to the public when it goes out of what they can afford.”

A young man was left heartbroken and devastated after discovering that his girlfriend was impregnated by another man and planned to pin it on him.
The man, who took to a social platform to share his story, said he and his girlfriend had been struggling to conceive for a while and all of a sudden, she fell pregnant easily.
However, when she was six months pregnant, a man claiming to be his girlfriend’s lover, paid him a visit at work and told him that he had been having an affair with his girlfriend for a year and the pregnancy is his.
Picture is for illustration purpose.
He said they wanted to pin the pregnancy on him because the lady didn’t want to lose her ‘perfect life’ and he also wasn’t ready to become a father.
Following the startling revelation, the heartbroken man said he pretended not to be aware of the malicious act and stayed with his girlfriend till she welcomed the child, then he dumped her in the labour room. According to him, he was planning to propose to her after delivering the baby.

“My girlfriend just gave birth to our first child. I know I’m not the biological father and I revealed I knew as soon as she gave birth.
I’ll try to keep this short because l’m planning to go to a bar soon. I found out when she was about 6 months along. The guy (Bryan) approached me at my work. “Are you Sarah’s boyfriend?” I said yeah and ask what he wanted. He said he was sorry that he had slept with her and swore he didn’t know that she was with someone (I don’t believe that).
He then pulled out his phone to show the texts between them. They had been sleeping together or “linking up” for at least a year. Then she found out she was pregnant and they came to an agreement to just pretend the baby was mine. In return, she wouldn’t lose her perfect life and he wouldn’t be responsible for a baby.
I knew it was weird. We had been having problems trying for a baby and all of a sudden she got pregnant so easily. But he explained that he had been thinking about it and he recently became a Christian. He said that he couldn’t live his life knowing that I was living a lie while his child didn’t know their real father.
So yeah. I told him I’d keep in touch, and to Y say that he said anvthina just vet. I’ve had a lot of time So yeah. I told him I’d keep in touch, and to not say that he said anything just yet. I’ve had a lot of time to think but ultimately I decided to wait until she gave birth. To hurt her in her most vulnerable moment.
I’ll spare the details, but she went into labor, baby was born, and was taken to the NICU to be monitored for a bit. What should’ve been a beautiful moment of me holding my baby, was the most heartbreaking time of my life. Just knowing he was not mine hurt me. Once she was sewn up and comfortable I started packing up my stuff to leave.
She asked where I was going and I just told her. “I know I’m not baby’s name’s father. You can act all shocked but I know. Just ask Bryan to come, I’m positive he’ll sign the birth certificate” Then I left.
She’s been calling my phone over and over (even sending texts as I type this) and has even gotten her sister to call me a few times.
It was hard pretending these last few months but I think I’m satisfied. I feel really really heartbroken though. I was planning to propose to her on the day our baby was born. I was gonna make her the happiest woman ever. Oh well. Im going to go get shitfaced now.”
