The remains of reality TV star and singer, Patrick Adebowale Fakoya better known by his nickname, Rico Swavey, has been laid to rest in Lagos.

Recall that the 29-year-old Big Brother Naija star was involved in a fatal car crash on Tuesday, October 11, and sadly passed away on Thursday, October 13, from the injuries he sustained.

A service of songs and night of tribute was held in his honour in Victoria Island on Wednesday, October 19, and many of his colleagues were in attendance.

His burial procession took place the following day in Lagos as well.

A funeral mass was held for him at the Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu Square, and then his remains was moved to the Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, Lagos, where he was laid to rest.

May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

It was quite an emotional moment on Wednesday night as the mother of late Big Brother Naija star, Rico Swavey, danced to a music project he was working on before his tragic demise.

Before Rico’s passing, he had recorded a song he titled “This Life” and had intended for it to be released in December, as announced on his Instagram page.

A Nigerian woman who claims her son was killed in the shooting at the Lekki tollgate during the #EndSARS protest in October 20, 2020, has spoken up.

The woman, from Akwa Ibom state, came out to speak at the End SARS memorial processon today, October 20, when multitudes of Nigerian youths converged at the Lekki Toll Gate to remember the peaceful protesters who were shot two years ago.

Speaking in an interview with Arise News, the woman who spoke in her native dialect with the help of an interpreter, said she saw a picture of her son’s lifeless body but is yet to recover his corpse till date.

When the interviewer asked if she is sure that her son was killed, and not arrested because there are reports that some protesters are still in jail till date, the woman maintained that her son was killed because he was shot in the neck in the picture she saw, and some eyewitness also confirmed his death.

The elated groom took to his Instagram stories to share videos of the magnificent, nicely decorated venue for his big day.

Suleiman Adamu, the minister of water resources, has stated that rainfall, not Cameroon’s Lagdo dam, causes 80 percent of Nigeria’s floods.

“All these stories I’ve been seeing on social media, I just laugh because they are misleading,” Adamu stated in Abuja on Wednesday, October 19.

“The contribution of the Lagdo dam to flooding in this country is only one percent. Sometimes they release the water without notice and when they do that, it has an impact on communities downstream but it is not the main reason we have floods in this country — 80 percent of the floods in this country is water that we are blessed with from God from the sky.

This year’s flood, I can assure you, we cannot blame it on Cameroon to be sincere. We’ll continue to have floods on the river Niger and Benue basins. We signed the MOU with the Cameroonian authorities but since then, every year, it is the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) that calls them ‘what is your level in Lagdo?’

Even this one when he called them, I was communicating with the DG NIHSA, I said ‘what’s happening in Cameroon?’ He said he has been calling them and they said they have not released any water but they said they will inform us. Finally, they said they will inform us tomorrow, they didn’t inform us, they informed us 24 hours after they had released the water.

They did the same thing two years ago, I wrote to the minister of foreign affairs and Nigeria had to write a protest letter to the Cameroonian authorities that they did not inform us.

It was after our rains had gone down, suddenly we saw floods in Adamawa area and we were asking them. For two weeks they were denying that they had opened the reservoir. Of course, it didn’t go to the confluence, it was limited to the areas of Adamawa state and Taraba. Because like I said, the contribution to the flood by Lagdo dam is not so high.” he said.

‘A child for a child’, woman allegedly throws her neighbor’s children in a well after losing her only child in the same manner.

Two Abuja neighbors have taken the saying “an eye for an eye” to a new stage by allegedly murdering each other’s children after having an undisclosed disagreement.

A Twitter user with the handle @TokyosBite took to the micro-blogging platform to describe the dreadful scenario between the two women.

“Women are extremely wicked.
A woman threw her neighbor’s only child in a well and the child died, the deceased mother retaliated and threw all the other woman’s children in the well too.
I’m shocked. This story is very traumatizing and it seem so unbelievable. I can’t believe it either bt it’s phucking true and I’m scared of humans right now. What kinda heart does one have to do this? What level is envy would make someone do this? I can’t wrap my head around this at all.” she tweeted.

Netizens found this story implausible until it was corroborated by another user who claimed to have also heard this same story from her colleague.

Not only would students benefit from the establishment of the social club by Infinix, the staff and management would also be beneficiaries of this club. The Infinix club will also offer scholarships and funding opportunities to active members of the club as well as offer employment opportunities to active and dedicated members who graduate with exceptional grades.

The University of Ibadan is to provide technical and manpower support, ensure the registration of the Infinix Club on the campus and provide a workable space with basic amenities.

Man arrested for allegedly defiling his two underaged daughters in Anambra

A Nigerian man, Uchenna Nwobi, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters, aged 3 and 5.

The suspect, who resides in Abagana, Njikoka LGA of Anambra state, was picked up on Wednesday, October 19, after a concerned resident reported him to the Anambra State Ministry For Women and Social Welfare.

Following the complaint, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, through her Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response team, swung into action and briefed NSCDC operatives who commenced investigation immediately.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect was arrested, and the children were rescued and taken to a hospital for examination.

They were first taken to Ntasi Centre in Enugwu-Ukwu where a doctor confirmed that they were defiled. It is reported that fresh wounds and swelling were on their private parts.

The children also confirmed that they were molested by their father and pleaded not to return to him for fear of being punished.

It was gathered that the suspect started abusing his underage daughters in 2020 after he sent his wife packing over a marital dispute.

Meanwhile, Nwobi, who claims to be innocent, has been detained for child molestation and abuse, and would be charged to court after investigation.

A single mother of one has been left devastated after her fiancé broke off their engagement.

In the chats that the lady simply identified as Favour shared, showing how her fiancé, whom she dubbed “Her Everlasting,” ended their relationship, he just said he no longer wanted anything to do with her and provided no explanation.

The heartbroken lady repeatedly inquired what she had done wrong that made him decide to end their relationship, and he responded by saying, “I gave you a ring because I wanted to, and now I don’t want to anymore.”

He further stated that although they are no longer an item, he doesn’t intend to take the ring he had used to propose to her and suggested that she sell it to take care of herself and her child.

Man narrowly escapes death after his mom called him home while heading to club with friends who later had an accident

In a very tragic event, four men have lost their lives in a car accident that occurred while they were driving to a nightclub in Lagos on Wednesday, October 19.

It was gathered that a friend of the departed souls was in the car with them when he suddenly received a call from his mother who told him to come and see her immediately.

He initially refused to return home and said he would see her when he returns from the club, but his friends urged him to go home. He alighted from the car and the other guys continued the ride to the club.

Sadly, the four guys were involved in a horror car crash which claimed their lives.

A Twitter user who relayed the morbid incident, @khanofkhans11_, wrote,

“Group of 5 Niggas wanted to go to club last night, one of them halted from the car cos his mom called him to come see her urgently. He said he will see her when he comes back, his friends had to force him to go see her. The four friends died in a fatal car accident overnight. 😔

A video showing the emotional moment reality TV star, Alex Asogwa better known as Alex Unusual, playfully tackled her late co-reality star and friend, Rico Swavey, has been shared online.

Recall that a night of tribute and service of songs was held in Lagos on Wednesday night, October 19, in honour of the 29-year-old BBNaija star who passed away last week after a tragic accident.

Several BBNaija stars attended the candle night event, including his close friend, Alex Unusual. It’s worthy to note that it was Alex who announced news of Rico’s accident on social media and called for prayers for him while he was fighting for his life at the hospital.

When she was signing the condolence register at his service of songs, a picture frame/obituary of the deceased star suddenly fell on her head.

#EndSARS memorial: Moment police arrest weeping dispatch rider who survived Lekki tollgate shooting (Video)

Jacob Desmond, a survivor of the Lekki Tollgate shooting on October 20, 2020, was reportedly arrested this morning during the #EndSARS memorial procession.

Jacob, a dispatch rider who joined other Nigerian youths who converged at the Lekki Tollgate on Thursday to mark the second anniversary of the incident, broke down in tears as he recounted how he was lucky to be alive as he was present when the shooting started two years ago.

A video serving the rounds showed Jacob on his knee as he recounted the October 20, 2020 incident.

As he spoke with journalists, two policemen arrived and asked him to follow them.

However, a Twitter user, who shared the video online said Jacob was arrested by the police officers.

“This is Jacob Desmond, a Dispatch rider who was just driving past the Lekki tollgate, when the memories of #LekkiMassacre struck. He stopped, remembered & cried, how he would have been amongst the dead, if not for God He was arrested by the police even while crying. #EndSARS”, he wrote.

Police officers stationed at the Lekki tollgate on Thursday, October 20 fired teargas and water cannon to disperse participants of the second #EndSARS memorial.

It was earlier reported that Nigerian youths converged in their numbers at the Lekki Tollgate this morning to mark the second anniversary of the shootings of peaceful #Endsars protesters on October 20, 2020.

Nigerians who joined the procession were seen carrying dummy coffins to honour the memory of those who lost their lives to the EndSARS protest in 2020.

However, Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz who also joined the memorial procession this morning revealed that security personnel fired teargas to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in an interview with Channels Television, said some of the participants were “unruly” and climbed the top of the toll gate.

Reality TV star and model, Tuoyo Ideh has burst the bubble of people who think their partner is faithful to them as he shares a wild opinion.

Tuoyo in a post shared on his Insta-story opined that “everyone” is cheating on their partner in this 2022, men and women inclusive.

As Nigerians around the world mark the second anniversary of the EndSARS Lekki Tollgate shooting of October 20, 2020, popular Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo has called on the government to rename the toll gate as “Lekki Memorial Way” in memory of those who lost their lives.

Alex took to his Instagram page to make this call and demanded that the Lekki Tollgate should be toll free, because Nigerians already paid the price in full with their blood during the tragic incident.

He shared a picture he took with his colleagues, IK Ogbonna and Yomi Casual, while participating in the #ENDSARS protest two years ago and wrote,

A Nigerian politician, Olumbe Akinkugbe, has recounted how snakes stopped visiting his house after he lost the House of Representatives primary election.

Olumbe, who contested in the recently concluded House of Reps primary election for Ondo East and West federal constituency under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took to Twitter to recall his experience.

According to him, though he is not a superstitious person who would attribute such occurrence to spiritual forces, he found it strange that the weekly snake visits suddenly stopped after he lost the election.

He tweeted;

“Not a superstitious person but somehow strange that the weekly snake visit’s to my house since I lost the HOR primaries have stopped

Strange I’ve been in this house 4 rainy seasons no cockroach. But as i said I’m not superstitious”

Popular Nigerian singer, Falz and ace comedian, Mr Macaroni, on Thursday morning, October 20, joined the #EndSARSmemorial procession at the Lekki Tollgate.

Nigerian youths converged in their numbers at the Lekki Tollgate this morning to mark the second anniversary of the shootings of peaceful #Endsars protesters on October 20, 2020.

At the procession on Thursday, coffins were carried to honour the memory of protesters who were shot and killed by security personnel at the Lekki Tollgate two years ago.

Videos shared online showed the public figures and a large crowd marching through the tollgate despite heavy police presence.

Big Brother Naija stars, Alex and Ifu Ennada, have finally squashed their over two-year beef, and it’s beautiful to see.

The reality TV stars who have been at loggerhead since 2019 over a leaked chat reconciled at their late colleague, Rico Swavey’s candlelight procession on Wednesday evening, October 19.

You would recall that in 2019, the ladies made headlines after a chat between them was leaked and showed Alex insulting Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson.

At the time, it was said that Ifu released the conversation in an effort to bring her colleague, Alex, down, which strained their relationship. Ifu later tendered a public apology to Alex, but it appears their friendship didn’t go back to the way it was. ICYMI.

Two years and ten months later, Ifu and Alex, who were present at their late colleague Rico Swavey’s service of song and candlelight procession, last night reconciled at the event.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Alex shared photos and a video showing the moment she and Ifu hugged it out.

In the video, Alex says in Igbo that she has now made peace with her Ifu.

A young Nigerian man has called out an Instagram slay queen for allegedly redirecting a flight he paid for to go and visit another man.

The man with TikTok handle @asonta_b_asonta took to the video-sharing platform to accuse the lady, identified simply as Margaret, of allegedly duping him of his hard-earned money.

According to Asonta, he invited the lady over to his home and booked a flight for her to travel down to his location.

However, on the day she was supposed to show up, she did not catch the flight and reportedly redirected it to another place.

Asonta claimed Margaret posted photos and videos with another man on her social media page during the period she was supposed to visit him, so he automatically assumed that she redirected the flight to go and visit the said man.

After being disappointed, an angry Asonta went online to disgrace the lady and demand that she returns his money within 24 hours because the flight ticket was very expensive.

According to him, if she fails to comply with the 24-hour ultimatum, he will get the police to arrest her.

Reacting to his threat, Margaret, in a post shared on her Instagram page, lambasted him for expecting her to travel long distance to visit a total stranger like him.

She explained that she met Asonta on TikTok and did not beg him to book a flight for her, adding that he can’t recover the flight money anymore because it’s ‘gone for good’.

A Nigerian woman has rebuked her single female friend who heard she was cooking for her husband at 7pm and said she can’t do such a thing.

Taking to Twitter, the woman with handle @OsemekeBlessin1, said she called the friend to make an inquiry while preparing dinner for her family.

During the call, she informed her friend that she was in the kitchen and the friend flipped and said “that can’t be her”.
