Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie’s brother, Linc Edochie, has reacted after he was accused of unfollowing and not showing support for his brother’s first wife, May.

Yul Edochie, who has been married for 17 years to his first wife, May, unveiled colleague Judy Austin as his second wife in April. Although at the time, his brother, Uche, said their family was not in support of the union.

In an Instagram post, Uche claimed Yul’s marriage to actress Judy Austin was not supported by the Edochie family, who counseled him against going ahead with the marriage, but he refused.

However, Yul Edochie’s brother, Linc, came under fire from online-in-laws after he left a comment on the actor’s latest Instagram post where he hailed him for his doggedness and hard work.

Instagram users trooped to Linc’s comment and accused him of unfollowing May on Instagram, never celebrating her wins, and overall being unfair to her.

In response, Linc debunked the claim that he unfollowed his sister-in-law on Instagram and slammed his critics for basing their judgment on internet reports rather than real confirmation of the truth.

“Please verify before attacking me. I didn’t unfollow anybody. According to late Tupac Shakur, don’t judge me if you don’t know me…Abusing my family over what you know nothing about except reported speeches online makes me laugh in Swahili. Uduak Frank Akpan, the convicted killer of jobseeker, Iniubong Umoren, has said that nothing is being done about many murders in the country.

Recall that on Thursday, August 4, a Akwa Ibom State high court sentenced Akpan to death by hanging for the murder of the young lady whom he killed after luring her to a fake job interview last year.

The presiding judge, Bassey Nkanang, also sentenced him to life imprisonment for raping the female jobseeker.

After giving his judgement, Judge Nkanang, asked the suspect if he would like to say anything to the court before he’s taken away.

Responding, Akpan said, “My Lord, I am not guilty.”

However, the judge told him the court has gone beyond that stage as he had been convicted already, and told him to say something related to the case.

In response, Akpan said there are many killings in Nigeria that nobody is doing anything about.

His words, “My Lord, in our country, there’re many assassinations, but nobody is doing something about it.”

Meanwhile, a video making rounds shows the moment Akpan tried to escape after he was sentenced to death by hanging.

In a video captured by BBC News Pidgin, police men are seen surrounding the area where Uduak had tried to escape from following his sentence. He’s seen being caught and manhandled into a van as police officers secure the area. Watch here

The young man, who claimed to have been saving up for a while for the surprise, bought a used automobile and presented it to his lover on her birthday.

The viral clip captured the moment the young lady was being led outside while wearing blindfolds to the spot where the car was parked, with friends who were present to witness the surprise cheering her on as she approached.

However, after taking off her blindfold to see her whip, her countenance changed.

On seeing the whip, which had rusted paint, she queried why her man would present her with such an old car and requested that their friends stop recording.

There was pandemonium at a funeral ceremony after a lady took to the podium to reveal the last things the deceased allegedly told her.

According to the lady who claimed to have spent three days with the deceased whose name was Paul before his death, he told her some things before he gave up the ghost.

She said when she asked the deceased why he was “over there”, he responded, saying his life was ‘cut short’. He also allegedly told her that his wife was “putting stuff in his food” implying that he was poisoned to death by his own wife.

After the woman made the shocking revelation at the funeral before family and friends of the deceased, there was commotion from all angles.

However, it’s not clear when and where the incident took place.

Nike, the wife of the senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, shared the message that has now sparked a debate online with couples via her Twitter handle on Thursday, August 4.

Media personality, Latasha Ngwube, has replied to ace comedian, Alibaba, who in a trending video questioned the source of income of some Nollywood actresses.

The comedian had taken to social media to question how female Nollywood stars are able to fund their extravagant lifestyles and asked them to stop deceiving naïve girls on social media.

In the trending clip, Alibaba questioned how actresses can afford houses worth N45 million in only a few months of joining the movie industry.

He shared a personal experience of an actress who he claimed accompanied a top shot to Dubai, stayed with him in a hotel and days later was on Instagram posting ”lounging in Dubai?”.

“How many movies have you done that gave you 45 Million naira to buy a house? The industry that you just joined? I may be tempted to mention names but I will not. The Afrobeat legend, while making this assertion, listed actors, professionals, and musicians as some of those who have sold their souls to politicians.

According to him, the decisions of the masses are influenced by entertainers and professionals who have sold their talents to politicians for their selfish gains.

Seun, who stated this during the Afrobeats Podcast with Adesope Olajode, noted that entertainers declare support for corrupt political leaders; it shapes the people’s mindset.

Bodies of LAUTECH student, hotelier and Okada rider killed by kidnappers after collecting N5 million ransom recovered from bush (video)

The corpses of an hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi; one of his employees and a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Rachel Opadele; and a bike man have been recovered from the bush.

Last week, the hotelier and Rachel were abducted by kidnappers who demanded for N5 million as ransom to secure their release.

The ransom was raised and an okada rider was contracted to take a family member to the designated spot in the bush along Ogbomosho-Ilorin Expressway where the kidnappers asked them to drop the money.

After collecting the money, the kidnappers killed the okada rider on the spot while the family member sustained injuries. They also killed the kidnapped victims and dumped their corpses in the bush.

A family source said the kidnappers became angry and killed the victims because of the increased military presence at the LAUTECH area.

Unknown to them that the soldiers were not there because of the kidnapped victims and were only there to beef up security in Ogbomosho due to the increasing rate of kidnapping.

In a new development, the bodies of the victims have been recovered from the bush and deposited at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, angry students and youths of the community, on Wednesday, staged a protest in Ogbomoso over the killing of the victims.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has defended President Buhari’s decision to purchase vehicles worth N1.145 billion for the Republic of Niger.

Speaking on the controversial decision that has sparked outrage from Nigerians, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, while responding to questions from newsmen after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President at the State House, Abuja, said it’s to enhance Niger’s capacity to protect their country as relating to security.

She added that this is not the first time Nigeria is offering assistance to its neighboring countries.

Her words,

“Let me just say that overtime, Nigeria has had to support its neighbours, especially the immediate neighbours to enhance their capacity to secure their countries as it relates to us. This is not the first time that Nigeria had assisted Niger Republic, Cameroon or Chad.

The President makes an assessment as to what is required based on the request of their Presidents. Such requests are approved and interventions are provided.

It is to enhance their capacity to protect their countries, as it relates to security and also to Nigeria.

Nigerians have the rights to ask questions, but also the President has the responsibility to make an assessment of what is in the best interest of the country and I cannot question the decision myself.

I have said this is not the first time and that Nigeria as a country has provided an intervention to our neighbours. It is in the best interest of Nigeria to do so.”

A tragic incident has befallen the owners of Temple Hills Supermarket in Festac Town, Lagos state, in the early of hours of today, July 4, as fire razed the property.

Goods worth millions of Naira were destroyed in the fire incident that gutted the popular supermarket.

Though it’s not clear what started the fire as at the time of filing this report, the fire has been put out by officials of the Nigerian Fire Service and residents.

Ojih’s sons, Favour Ogheneruona, 16, and Precious Ogheneruona, 14, were said to be on the same motorcycle when they had a fatal collision with a tipper lorry on the Owa-Okei Road, Owa, Delta State, which led to their deaths.

The unfortunate incident happened on May 24, 2022, and they were laid to rest in their hometown after a funeral service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Agbor, on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

A Nigerian man, Sufiyanu Abubakar Salihu, is set to marry his late fiancée’s younger sister, Fatima Ibrahim Kani, one week after her death in Bauchi.

Salihu had taken to Twitter a few days ago to mourn his fiancée, Rukaiya Ibrahim Kani who died on Wednesday, July 27, two weeks to their wedding.

Before her unexpected death, Rukaiya and Salihu were scheduled to get married in Bauchi on August 12.

Well, Salihu will now marry Fatima Ibrahim Kani, the younger sister of his deceased lover, on August 12, the day he was meant to wed Rukaiya.

The elder brother of the sisters, Aliyu Ibrahim Kani, took to Facebook on Wednesday, August 3, to share the new invitation card with Rukaiyat’s name replaced with Fatima’s.

“Life is full of lessons to believe. Invitation to my twin sister wedding fatiha Fatima Ibrahim kani Zara.
When I was confronted with the reunion again, it tooks me so much more to believe but we can denied the fact that life goes on. I pray for my late Sister Aunty ummi Allah ya jikanta Allah ya Mata rahama and Allah ya sanya alkhairi a cikin wanann aure da za ayi da zara’u. You might also think as much as you can but prayers is all we need at this moment.

“Late Sister Rukayya Ibrahim Kani issa a graduate of public health and so zara too issa graduate of public health from Bauchi State University. She’s an immediate sister to late Aunty ummi same father, mother. Everything about them is equally the same. It’s happening again. This is a lesson and all thanks to our parents and a special one to both malam sufiyan and sister zara. Allah ubangiji ya kaimu lokaci Allah ya sanya alkhairi. Allah ya jikan Aunty ummi.” He wrote.

Hilarious reactions have trailed a video of Big Brother Naija season 7 housemate, Eloka Paul Nwamu a.k.a Eloswag, snoring loudly in the house.

There’s no doubt that ‘body no be firewood’ and a lot of people, especially men, snore when sleeping but this particular video has gotten people talking online due to the intensity and sound of his snore.

However, it’s not clear when the video of the 27-year-old content creator and dancer, who emerged as the first Head of House in the Level Up season, was recorded.

In the video, Eloswag who seemed to be fatigued, is seen sleeping and snoring aggressively with intermittent pauses.

Reacting to the video, Big Brother Naija Alumni, Tuoyo Ideh, who participated in the fourth edition of the show, said there is finally someone who snores louder than him on the show.

A video that’s newly emerged online shows the moment convicted murderer, Uduak Frank Akpan tried to escape after a Akwa Ibom State high court sentenced him to death by hanging for the murder of late Iniubong Umoren.

In a video captured by BBC News Pidgin, police men are seen surrounding the area where Uduak had tried to escape from following his sentence. He’s seen being caught and manhandled into a van as police officers secure the area.

Uduak Frank Akpan, the first accused in the murder of jobseeker Iniubong Umoren, to death by hanging.

The trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, in his judgement, sentenced Akpan to death by hanging and life imprisonment on the two charges of murder and rape preferred against him on Thursday, August 4.

The court, however, discharged and acquitted his father, Frank Akpan, and sister, Anwan Bassey, (2nd and 3rd accused), who were standing trial for accessory after the fact to murder.

Recall that Akpan lured the deceased, a 26-year-old graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) with a fake job interview on April 29, 2021, killed her and buried her remains in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.

Ms Umoren was confirmed dead on April 30 and was buried on Friday in her hometown of Nung Ita, Ikot Essien, in Akwa Ibom State’s Oruk Anam Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, Akpan, in an interview with newsmen, claimed he killed his victim in self-defense.

Frank, in his not-so-convincing side of the story, said Ini attacked him, he defended himself by hitting her, and the blow led to her death.

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has alleged that he rejected millions of naira offered to him to endorse a candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The actor stated on his Instagram page that he rejected a 7.2 million naira deal to support a different presidential candidate than Peter Obi, who he considers to be the best candidate.

Nigerian socialite, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, has continued to react after he was declared wanted by the EFCC.

On Wednesday, the anti-graft agency declared the billionaire businessman wanted for alleged money laundering and called on members of the public with useful information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.

The EFCC claimed that Mompha failed to appear in court for his money laundering trial.

Mompha however went online shortly afterwards to share his side of the story and accused the EFCC of being a corrupt-laden agency.

He explained that after his arrest and arraignment before a Lagos Court in 2021, the presiding judge ordered the EFCC to release his wristwatches and other valuables in their custody.

According to him, the anti-graft agency were displeased with the judgement and came up with another trumped up charges against him.

He also claimed they wanted to force him into a plea bargain so he can be convicted for a crime he didn’t commit.

Mompha has now taken to his Instastory to share a picture of the confiscated luxury wristwatches he was able to recover from the EFCC and another picture showing the price of one of the wristwatches.

He then alleged that the anti-graft agency operatives are after him because they want to rip him off the luxury wristwatches.
