That Togolese footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor converted to Islam is no longer news. The news had gone viral and the Aston Villa bound striker had also confirmed it.
Adebayor has now come out to fully address the issue by giving reasons why he converted to Islam. He justified his new found faith by saying Muslims are like Jesus and also described them as” truer followers of Christ”.

The three siblings, Christiana, Feranmi and Pelumi, who were burnt to death in the fire that engulfed some shops at Mechanic village, Oke-Afa, Isolo area of Lagos State, would have escaped death last Thursday, had their mother granted their wish.
The children, as gathered, begged their mother to take them with her, when she was leaving at about 10p.m., promising the children that she would be back by 11.30p.m.
According to a woman, who claimed to have been with the children’s mother at the time, Pelumi, 6, passionately begged his mother not to lock them inside. Their mother was said to have bought them biscuits and bobo drink, and then left.
However, she did not see them alive again as the 2.30a.m. fire burnt them to death. The children’s mangled bodies were reportedly discovered close to the door with the eldest’s hand on the door handle apparently trying to open the door.
Since the incident occurred, most of the shops around have remained under lock and key except a beer parlour, close to the burnt shops.
Investigation by Vanguard revealed that the woman, who is now on the run, was first married to a man, but divorced him after having four children for him.
The estranged husband was said to have taken two of the children, leaving Christiana and Feranmi in their mother’s custody.
Thereafter, she reportedly got hooked to her present husband who resides in Ejigbo area, whom she had two children for.
Her husband was said to have given her two shops. She used one for sales of provisions and salon operation, while the other served as bedroom. Report had it that she usually locked the children in the shop any time she went out.
A resident, Mr. Gbadamosi Lawal, said:
“Her husband was devastated when he visited on the day of the incident. He was too shocked to speak to anyone. Everyone thought she went to his house.“But what we heard was that she went to her present lover’s place. Her present lover said he did not want any man’s child in his house, which was why any time she went visiting him, she locked the children in the shop.“On that day, she went with the youngest child, who is about three years old. Everybody is angry with her. In fact, I do not think she will come anywhere near here because she may be lynched.”
Meanwhile, Lagos State Police Command seems to be silent on the fire incident alleged to have been triggered by a head-on collision between a LT 27 bus being chased by a team of policemen, and a 14-seater stationary commercial bus.
Report had it that a team of policemen, suspected to be from Ejigbo Division, chased the LT 27 bus loaded with jerry cans filled with petroleum product.

President Muhammad Buhari has ordered that all audit queries must be attended to within 24 hours. The Auditor General of the Federation has also been ordered to resolve all outstanding audit queries within the next 30 days.
This effect was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
It reads:
“The era of impunity is gone. The President is taking the war on corruption to the civil service.He is not happy that standard operating procedures and financial regulations are no longer being observed as they should.“President Buhari will ensure that public officials and civil servants in the service of the Federal Government pay a heavy price from now on for violating financial regulations or disregarding audit queries.
“On his watch, President Buhari wants to see firm action against those who violate extant financial regulations, not the prevarication and shenanigans that went on in the past in the form of endless probes and public inquiries.”
Garba Shehu added that the President was determined to put an end to the present situation in which, rather than respond to legitimate audit queries, violators of financial regulations in the Federal Government resort to threatening, bribing or mounting other forms of social pressure on auditors.
Sikiru Osideko, a hunter in the West side on Nigeria, has been arrested for allegedly shooting dead his friend, Segun Okusi, during a hunting expedition in Isara, in the Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun state.
Osideko, who was arrested on Thursday, July 30, told the police that he shot his friend in error, as he had mistaken him for a prey during the expedition.
Punch gathered that at about 4pm on Thursday, Osideko and Okusi, who were friends, as well as hunters, had gone on an expedition in a nearby bush.
It was learnt that about 30 minutes after they separated, Osideko reportedly noticed a movement in the bush and shot in the direction with his dane gun.
Okusi was said to have let out a sharp cry, which made the suspect to realise that he had shot at his friend.Osideko reportedly rushed to the place and tried to resuscitate his friend, but to no avail. Okusi died on the spot.
A police source in the area told PUNCH Metro that the operatives visited the bush to take Okusi’s corpse to a mortuary.
He said,
“Policemen from the Isara division visited the bush and found Okusi in a pool of blood. They took photographs and deposited the corpse in a mortuary.
“They arrested the suspect and seized the dane gun. The man has been taken to the state command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.“Such strange thing has not happened among hunters in this area. It was in the broad daylight.“It was another hunter, one John Oseni, who raised the alarm and reported the matter to the police.”
The matter had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, where Osideko was reportedly assisting the police with investigations into the death of his friend.
Wife of football star, Joseph Yobo, Adaeze Yobo, who few months ago, put to bed a bouncing baby boy, which is her second for her husband, Joseph, shared these photos of herself and her adorable family having fun on Sunday.
Morufa Alagbala, a 26 year old woman, who got missing for two days, has been found inside a well in the Omitoro, Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
It was learnt that the family had reported Morufa missing last week’s Tuesday at the Igbogbo Police Division, when her whereabouts were not known.
PUNCH Metro gathered that she was discovered dead on Thursday when some plumbers came to work inside the well in the house. Punch visited Babatunde Aina Street, where the family lived, the deceased’s elder sister, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said although Morufa had a history of mental illness, her death was shocking.
She added that although the deceased had wandered from home in the past, she usually returned after some hours.
She said,
“On Tuesday, Morufa was not found at home or in the neighbourhood. I thought it was the usual way she had been straying from home. But she would always return. The illness made her get violent and act strangely sometimes. There was a time when she became too aggressive, and struck me on the head.
“We had been managing her condition until that Tuesday when she went missing.
“On Thursday, some plumbers came to fix a problem with our well, and they complained that the water stank. When they looked more closely, they found that a dead body was on the surface. That was how her corpse was discovered.
“As a result of the illness, I used to take her to a psychiatric hospital in Yaba for treatment. But the last time we went, they were on strike, but she was given some drugs. She could not marry or go to school because of the illness. So when she was not found, we reported at the police station. Her death is unexpected and so shocking, but we believe that it is the will of God.”
It was also learnt that the men of the Lagos State Fire Service came to the house to remove the corpse from the well. The Director of the service, Dr Razak Fadipe, who confirmed the incident, said the officials from the Ikorodu station, attended to the matter.
He said, “The lady accidentally fell and got trapped inside the well. It was about 120 feet deep. She was recovered dead by firefighters from the Ikorodu Fire Station.”
The Nigerian military has reportedly arrested a Boko Haram commander and at the same rescued 178 people which included 101 children, 67 women and 10 men.

Punch Reports that A 55- year-old woman, Florence Aladenoye, was mauled to death by a dog in Idanre, in Idanre, Ondo State.
It was gathered that after the dog attacked her, the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where she later died.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident, and added that after the dog attacked the woman, she was taken to 5 different hospitals before she died at the FMC.
Ogodo said the owner of the dog, Mr. Olofingbasote Afolabi, has been arrested and is being detained at the State Department of Criminal Investigation.
Ogodo said,
“The matter was reported to Afolabi, the owner for the dog, but he did not take any action to treat the victim. So the victim was taken to five different hospitals before she died at the FMC.”
The Police spokesman stated that the corpse has been deposited at a morgue, while investigation is ongoing.
Ogodo urged residents of the state who reared dogs and other domestic animals to ensure that their animals were properly kept and immunised.

On the latest episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner opened up about the insecurities she faces as a woman as she went on a girls’ road trip to San Francisco.
The reality star, 65, confessed she was worried about her deep voice and was considering surgery to make it higher.
She also told her girlfriends – a group of trans women – that she wasn’t ready to get into a bathing suit in front of them.
‘The pool’s too damn cold right now,’ she told Jenny Boylan, a writer and co-chair of GLAAD. ‘It will happen at some point but I’m in no rush.’
She added: ‘This process of coming out doesn’t happen overnight. There are so many hurdles to overcome.’
Referring to wearing a bathing suit, she said: ‘That’s where I’ve got to get and that’s going to take time.

A source who recently visited the Deceased Veteran Actor’s Family home yesterday, August 2nd said his wife is inconsolable while one of the late actors’ son accused his Fathers colleagues for abandoning him when they needed them.
His eldest son, claimed that nobody visited Ajigijaga at home throughout his downtime following a near-fatal motorcycle accident that happened on a movie set.
Meanwhile his death has been confirmed by the President of The Golden Movie Ambassadors (TGMA), Saidi Balogun.

Armed Robbers struck a wedding rain yesterday at Mgbuishii, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, killing the Video Camera Man and injuring many others including the Wedding Photographer.

A villager, who spoke on condition of anonymity gave the name of the dead video camera man as Mr. Isaac Ezirim, while the wounded photographer is Mr. Julius Ashigbu.
“The hoodlums first attacked the vehicle conveying the bride and groom. Although the bullets hit the video camera man and the photographer, the driver of the vehicle sped off. The hoodlums robbed the friends and relations of the couple of cash and other personal valuables, including telephone handsets.” – the villager said
